I am finally looking at flashing away from stock..anyone care to tell me whats your favorite custom roms and benefits of each or why you like them?
bamf 2.0-5 with the mr2 radio has been the most stable rom for me.. and i love the sense 3.0 lockscreen!
i was reading that...Im not really sure i wanna flash the radios that people are bricking their phones with....plus, i use my camera. ALOT. so if that don't work, thats a major deal breaker.

From what I read here it's not the radio. I just flashed MR2 and Gingeritis IX. So far everything is running smooth.
Gingeritis IX
wait...so its not the radio thats bricking? now i really dunno if wanna use it.
but still. the camera....
The 3.0 camera doesn't work, but team BAMF provides a flashable 2.1 camera app that does.

Camera works fine in Gingeritis

I'm loving Th3oryofGinger/Candy. Great battery life, GPS, Wifi, camera all work. MR2 radio, but it was confirmed last night that the radio isn't what's causing bricks.
You will get a different opinion from each person. Every rom has its quirks. Read the rom OP and decide which features & theme work best for you.

used liquid thundersense for the longest time, then recently made the switch to GB. now i'm running candy with imo's kernel, and love it.
the gps on candy has been absolutely flawless, finds my location almost instantly even indoors, whereas, on liquid i had some issues with it not finding me, even outdoors.
i think thundersense had the edge with slightly bettery battery life (used imo's froyo kernel for liquid as well), but candy still easily makes through my whole day with moderate use without needing a recharge.
so far, candy looks to be an incredible daily driver for me, everything just runs great, no issues that i've found yet.

thats what im going for. Everyone's opinion is what im looking for.
i have been using candy v3.5..its gingerbread sense with a few tweaks..but smooth fast and no reboots for days..best rom out at the moment..i really liked gingervitis till chingy seemed to give up on ginger for awhile...hopefully i will see him return...
I'm running a de-Sensed version of Th3ory's ROM with the MR2 radio and dreamkernel and I haven't had any issues whatsoever. YMMV. Find what works for you!
i am running Tesla Coil 1.7.1. I love it because it looks like stock gingerbread.

My favorite is CM7 RC0.4 ASOP and they are much improved than RC0.3. I am looking forward nightly update CM7

I'm about to flash a ROM. which one is better?
They are both excellent, look at the feature list and see which has the core pieces that you are looking for.
I'm running bionix 1.4, and it is by far the best rom out in my opinion. Its very snappy with either kernel. 100000000000000x better than stock and lag is virtually gone
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Another vote for Bionix. 1.4 is amazing and Sombionix is a god among men.
I don't always complain, but when I do, I #BlameWes
Try both. Results may vary.
I personally use Frankin-Twiz Update4.
Having flashed just about every rom available here, I lean Bionix 1.4 oc.uv.
It just feels better to me--all the roms are well put together, but it is all going to come down to what you like in your UI and what is on the phone.
They are both great, but I have been using Bionix because I use most of the TW apps which of are taken out on F/T.
Both are solid. I've been using F-Twiz3 for a few weeks, and now F-Twiz4 for a day. F-Twiz3 was very solid, no problems.
Be aware that bionix 1.5 is having bluetooth problems. I and many others simply couldn't get BT to work, so I went with F-Twiz4.
I too am usually a loyal fan of bionix, but i need to have the bluetooth working so currently i am running franken-twiz 4. as soon as sombionix gets the bluetooth fixed though i will be going back over to his rom. of course i wouldn't have any objection to his jp3 froyo rom if it gets swype working better and the market gets fixed.
Thanks guys. I tried both the ROMs out, and really liked them both. But the graphical changes that were made on both ROMs was the deal breaker, and I decided to change my kernel to get the speeds I wanted.
But... to save starting a new thread... I kind of want to replace my stock music player, because I really don't like it.
I searched through the forum, and didn't find much.
Do you guys have any suggestions?
MixZing is pretty good--best I've used so far.

Hey guys, I had my last phone rooted (mt3g) but I couldnt stand the instability of CM so I decided to not root this one.....but now Im bored since Ive had it since release so Id like to at least flash a kernal so I can play with overclock. My question is can I root and continue to use the stock sense and flash a kernal for overclocking? If so what is the most stable and recommended kernal out? Thanks.
Use adrynalynes or imoseyons. Pretty easy to find the most popular. Look at the threads.
Rooting will wipe your phone anyway might as well flash a Rom, at least to get rid of bloat. All the froyo ones are very stable and have some nice tweaks. I like bamf best.

This is good advice right here. The other piece of advice is that you should stick with a Froyo-based ROM/kernel/radio for now. Theory is that GB radio creates bricked phones (incredibly low percentage chance of it happening but why risk it if you're not a risky type?).
Das Bamf and Perfect Storm are the two I would recommend. I prefer Imoseyon's kernels but Adrynalyne's are great too. Drod's are also good but not as popular (he had some of the first ones out there, though, and used to be the best).
I thought the same thing when I picked up my phone...
Started lurking on here... And 6 hours into ownership I was rooted and running Das BAMF. I would root, and try out one of the froyo roms. My favorite so far is Das BAMF.
Just want to throw my 2 cents in and recommend the Liquid Thundersense ROM. I just flashed 1.5 today and am thoroughly impressed. (My goals were simply battery life improvement and debloat.)
I flashed Imo's sweet, tweakable kernel though, IIRC, the ROM may actually come with it. Either way, between the two the performance and battery life are already such an improvement over stock that I probably won't bother with other ROMs until a stable Gingerbread one is available — I was spoiled coming from a myTouch 4G running CM7.
That said, if Liquid Thundersense has a weak spot, it's the default theme. It's not bad but, like I said, CM7's slick GB+ADWlauncher UI spoiled me...
XDA Premium on Tbolt. That is all.
I am most stable with bamf 1.6.2, tried to upgrade to 1.7 but when doing a restore with titanium, things seem to go a bit awkward. When I get a chance I'll probably do a clean install of bamf 1.7 remix or stripped with apps/data without the system apps. I've been running without 4g for best battery life. LTE seems to bring my battery life to its knees (<8 hours with decent usage).
Hey Guys,
First off, I'd like to commend this forum. You guys have assisted me greatly with my Incredible and now my Thunderbolt. Awesome work.
I just rooted the other night and am currently running the upgrade rom. I'm interested in putting a new one on along with upgrading the radio. The 11.19 Evo radio worked great on the Incredible. I had perfect signal damn near every where I went.
I'm still brand new to the TB, and not too sure about the different roms/radios. For instance, I coulda swore when I rooted, the upgrade rom specified that it came with MR1 radio. However, when I check my baseband in says 1.16.00.0402w_1. If someone could offer an explanation on that I'd be appreciative.
My main question is, I'd like to have a good rom with Sense (2.X or 3.0) that's stable, has some cool goodies, and can use one of the best radios.
Sorry for all the crap, I just have a lot to learn about the TB.
Thanks
From that description you might want to load Das BAMF 3.0... 3.0 is for the Sense 3.0 version.... RC4 is the last version I've seen and used a few days ago... and IMHO MR2 worked very well for me with that ROM.
Personally I've been finding GingerTh3ory to be rock solid stable, and the support on the forum has been fantastic! Haven't had any crashes on the 4.5.1 and the MR2 radio. Just flashed tonight's radio leak though and will see what happens
As best I understand it from my time on the forums (and someone can correct me if i'm wrong) the MR terminology is just shorthand for the complete radio package so that everyone can say the "leaked MR2 radio" instead of 1.39.00.0508w / 0.01.69.0510w_3 (the corresponding CDMA/LTE baseband numbers). So you won't ever actually see "MR1" in your radio info. Also, I think MR either stands for Mecha Radio or Milestone Release.
I like bamf 3.0 rc4 with mr2.5, but it is all personal preference. Best advice is to try a few different ones and see what you like.

The BAMF roms are the best in my opinion. Used all of the 3.0 versions. Nice eye candy for sure. Back on froyo with BAMF 1.8.6. Super solid Rom with great battery life. This supports the MR2.x radios. The sense squared theme on this works flawlessly and I think this is the most stable and best looking Rom/theme I've found. Very snappy. Better than gingerbread for a daily driver. Man this is pretty....
Synergy is the bomb. Very very fast

+1 on Synergy. Blazing fast, redic battery life and overall buttery feel to the entire thing. Its like the dev just poured crisco into the rom.
I think I'm about to win an ipad2 from work and would absolutely require Wireless Tether if any of them still have that baked in? Currently running BAMF Remix 1.8 and kinda miss Netflix too.
So many GB ROMs out now, wondering what you'd recommend. Thanks.
Me personally I LOVE CM7!!!!

CM has it "baked in" and it both wireless and wired options work (wired wouldn't work with an iPad)
wireless tether works with Gingeritis 1.2, if you prefer Sense
that's all I've tried
I have been using GINGER3DTH3ORY since version 4 (currently at 6.01) and have been very happy with it. Pretty much everything works as far as my needs go...Netflix is great, wireless tether built in, VERY fast and smooth and the dev is responsive and gets things fixed quickly. So far the latest release seems to have pretty great battery life as well.
Hope this is useful to you!
BAMF, Synergy, Th3ory, Gingeritis...
All very, very good choices.
So damn good...I can't make up my mind so I keep a recent nandroid of all of them.
The latest version of Gingeritis and Synergy have the newest GB leak....but I'm certain BAMF and Th3ory will follow suit soon.

From what I read I think Th3ory is hoping to have it done by the end of this weekend...*fingers crossed*. Go Th3ory!
I used BAMF 3.0 Sense within the first hour it was posted up until RC4.9 and loved it. This past Saturday I decided to give Kobes HONEY|Bread 3.0 a try and I freaking love it. It's themed well and I have not had any issues. Netflix is smooth, no random reboots, no problems with call quality, etc...
give it a whirl, it's sure to impress;-)
Synergy. Long time BAMF user, and Synergy converted me.
It basically all boils down to user preference tho. Synergy has been best for me, and Netflix, wireless tether, and call recorder are all necessities for me, and work flawlessly on this ROM.

Gingeritis 1.2 for me. It's the only rom built around the most recent GB leak for the Thunderbolt.
Tesla Coil is a greaat rom that looks like CM7 but with no 4G bugs.

+1 for Synergy. By far my favorite.
what do you guys think is better than TW that i should try, miui?
Miui was pretty cool. Visually appealing but for me some apps didnt work and battery life sucked. I am using phiremod 2.0. It's a cm7 that in my opinion apart from bionix is the best rom I've tried I get great battery life and its really fast and reliable. I've been on it for about 3 months

If you want a good quality 2.2, check out Toxic8 or Deranged9. Both excellent ROMs with great support and outstanding battery life.
If you want the latest then ICS Passion is where it is at but make sure you are comfortable flashing ROMs, Odin and bootloaders. Oh and read, read, read.
I've been using ics passion 10.6 its great! no rom gives good battery life for me but this isn't any worse than stock 2.2 battery life
I am new to this stuff, but I flashed Zendroid a few days ago and love it. Super solid, no glitches at all yet. I have 25% battery right now after a full day's use and that never happened on stock. I love it, super clean, super smooth. I can't speak to "better" than bionix as I haven't tried that ROM yet. Just know that Zendroid is awesome.
I was on bionix 1.3.1 and was hesitant to try ics passion but the rom is smoother than I ever imagined.
Ok so I was looking at ics, and there's a ton where can get the best rom and kernels or is there a good site I can read about it?

Just look for the "ICS Passion v11" thread in the Development sub-forum. I recommend the stock kernel, only because it lags for me if I use Eugene's. Results may vary though, so you should try both and see which works best for you.
Sent through the XDA App on my Samsung Vibrant running ICS Passion v10.6
I think it really depends on the features that you're looking for. Personally, I don't really see the necessity to jump ship to a GB or ICS rom for the Vibrant just yet (if ever). Someone posted a pretty legit list on Fishman's mod noting the differences between Android versions that you should check out to see if updating is worth it for you.
+1 for bionix from me..
ICS Passion v11 is pretty sleek, but since there's no 1080p video recording I may have to revert back to Bionix.
The Vibrant is a better video recorder than my Flip- I'm not sure why they would cripple the video.
360 productions make some great miui roms. I prefer lithium. you could give those a try
I've been using bionix nextgen v2 for a long long time, and it's fantastic but I'd really like to make the jump to a GB rom.
Mainly because I can't stand the fact that my CM7 Nook Color can run apps that my Galaxy S class phone can't.
Only GB ROM I've tried so far was the first stable CM7 version, but no matter what I tried I couldn't get my GPS to work _at all_. Since I actually make use of my GPS on a fairly regular basis I went back to bionix nextgen.
Can anyone recommend GB or ICS roms that have good GPS performance (meaning they don't have that "turn off GPS once and you have to reboot to get it back" issue)? Been browsing through the roms listed in the dev forum, but I'd also like some extremely fresh personal feedback from other users here.
Thanks in advance all.

Would also like to know whether such ROM (GB with working GPS) exists...
Since my original post above I've switched to ICS Euphoria. It does have the GPS off = reboot to use it problem, but honestly leaving the GPS switched on all the time does not seem to have a serious impact on my battery life vs what I was getting before. In the end I'm fine making that tradeoff in order to be on modern firmware. ICS is _awesome_ and I don't see myself going back.
