Here's what I did today: I clicked on the "Escalation Mail Box" Contact link on the Asus support website (http://vip.asus.com/eservice/cus_suggest.aspx) and I asked them to release Transformer USB/Charger cables to the US Market. I explained how much I liked their devices; that I own both the TF and the docking station and how worried I am to only have one cable that could get lost.
Here is the reply email I received:
Dear Valued Customer:
Thank you for supporting and using ASUS products!
Your comment has been received by us and is currently in process. We will improve and as a treatment, you can reply through the link to check the situation. Thank You! [link to open ticket]
If everyone writes in, maybe we can demonstrate a strong enough user demand to get the most essential accessories out on the market.

Just did the same. One cable with no spare is not cool...
The guy who sells the FolioGuard stuff, xjarl I think, mentioned he got his hands on the 40pin connector and asked in the general thread what he should "do" with them...but the thread got buried super quick.
I thought a million people would ask him to make power cables but...

Do you think you could find that thread again and forward the key info to DevCake (the guy here who does the DIY hardware articles):

If anyone can hack together a substitute cable it would be him. So, if there's a guy somewhere who can get the connectors and there's a guy here who can determine which pins we need to wire to a standard USB cable (or charger or whatever we need), then we should put those two together.
Thanks,
glg
Just sent my request as well. I have the Radio Shack charger wall wart w/adapter but I'm very nervous about not having a dongle that fits the TF's port.
Guess I'm spoiled - a week after launch there were adapter galore for the Galaxy Tab on ebay.
I'm hoping the free market will save the day soon here...yikes!

I wouldn't call it spoiled, it seems like chargers and cables should be available readily for any device, what this is....is ridiculous.

I tracked down xjar and messaged him about 4 days ago but no response so far. That connector is the holy grail, find it and I'll be able to make a GRIP of cables and accessories.
I've just done so asking about availability here in the EU. They don't seem to be anywhere!
I got a response back:
Thank you for contacting ASUS and providing your feedback. You may purchase the AC adapter here:[http://us.estore.asus.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=3613] Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for your support.

Letter sent. I hope they get their head's out of eachother's asses.
This situation is really irking me. I sometimes wonder if I shouldn't have gotten a different tab is only to rectify the accessory situation. These adapters should only be costing like 5 cents to make. I don't understand what is going on here.

Oh I'm specifically just thinking about their charger cables. I *hate hate hate* that I only have one. As far as I can tell the only places you can buy them they are like $40. Ridiculous IMO b/c that sort of thing should be pretty cheap. That is a pure profit item, if it were even in stock in the first place.

My bad, I thought it had the wrong connector but when I zoomed in I see it is at a bad angle. $40 buck is a little expensive, especially considering it is defective.

As soon as I get ANYTHING, I'll be sure to post something! I wanted to at least throw this out so that we were aware that there are people working for us.
Is there an option for a BT KB with a trackpad? That would be sweet.
This will be thrown up on your "store" before you leave it out to the "masses" right??

Just hope it works. Every BT keyboard I have tried just simply won't work "right". Annoying.

The word as of this morning is that the 1st sample is being finished. I am supposed to be receiving pics withing 24 hours and that sample is to be shipped to me for a review and to share
Great, I eagerly await the results!
I could really have used it this evening: went to a talk at a local Google campus taking my g-tab with me and had to improvise with my USB keyboard and a regular faux-leather folder so I could take notes.
I was actually envious of a couple of iPad users with their smart-looking folio cases and that's just wrong on so many levels.
** Edit: Apparently my g-tab was envious too: it went into an android.process.acore hissy fit after I got home.
Nice, I am interested in the keyboard/case combo too. Can't wait to hear about the quality.

Thanks for the update, Steve. Any idea on an approx. price? A BT keyboard is a nice to have for me, so the price difference will likely make the difference between whether I get a usb one or the BT one.

I'm looking forward to this. I just bought my GTab last night from sears online. Haven't even gotten it yet and am looking forward to this product.
Well today Asus UK confirmed there are no plans to bring it in to the UK. Not even with the launch of the new Slider

Really annoyed about this... Showing photo's of a product they were going to release has meant I have kept my Transformer. If they had said back then "we are not releasing a dock" I would have sold it and bought another tablet.
Shocking customer service from ASUS here.
That's what I thought, they wouldn't release it. If they really had the idea of releasing that dock, they would have done it when they launched the tablet. Didn't make sense launching it more than a year after.
Too bad, I too wanted one.
Maybe somebody can do something with the mini stand from targus. With a bit of dremel work and some imagination, it may be posible to integrate the original charger into it.

I was also disappointed that the stand did not come out. I did find this Targus Adjustable Stand for Tablets at a local TJ Maxx. You run the cable through the bottom of the slot and there is a cut out on the bottom side for the cord to sit in and run out the back. It is a little loose but does the job.

Yes, I saw that, but I was hoping that TJ Maxx had it for a bargain price, like they usually do.
I wound up getting it from Amazon, because of the free shipping
($25.00+, but I can always find something else to buy...)
As shocked as I am that Asus (with a normally above-average level of customer service) is leaving us Transformer owners out in the cold -- I'm doubly surprised that one of the countless low-cost-high-return Chinese manufacturers haven't come up with any knock-off add-ons for the Transformer yet. I suspect they will - but who knows when. I'll say this - Asus's treatment of those of us that bought their $500-$600 gadget has left a *very* sour taste in my mouth. It'll be Samsung from here on out for me.

I got it for $7.99.
Just stumbled on this thread, and I guess it's the final confirmation that Asus has no intention of ever shipping this stand, despite listing it for purchase in the US and Europe for some time. (Part number 90-XB2UOKST00010, UPC 884840036500).
Shame of it was, US-market pricing was VERY reasonable -- on the order of US$25-30. I'd have happily picked up several of these, at that price.
Have to wonder why Asus abandoned this, after they put the money into designing and presumably tooling up for it. (I highly doubt those seen photographed online were entirely handmade -- likely hand-assembled, but they must've made molds etc. at the very least. I know a rendering when I see one, and some of the high-res pics of this dock were definitely not renderings.)

well, if you go to the FAQ section on the page, you will see that they say it works with all kind of cases :good:
Also, I backed this on day one and got the early "bear" special, then pledged for the double order when they offered it, when it got cancelled I had already lost my early bear special position

From my experience, when you back a project, you get the product for 1/2 - 2/3 the final retail price, and you get the product months before it's available for the masses.
There is another project that I would like to support JUICES+ cables, but they are microUSB 2.0, if they were offering microUSB 3.0 I would be more inclined and I do realize that The GN3 is the first smartphone that I am aware of to offer a microUSB 3.0 port so its not rolling out big time yet.

I don't really think this cable is necessary, my $1 cable does the job quite well for me. If they had shown that the cable offered unique features other than its looks, maybe I would pledge.
Sounds neat, I hope they'll have one that extends out a bit as an option. My phone's case would make this a bit harder to use.
Thanks for shearing that is awesome just backed it

Hi everybody
I have 2 Touchpad's that have unfortunately died, there's no damage to them but they refuse to charge.
I've now bought a Samsung galaxy tab pro so they are are up for grabs.
I would prefer collection but am happy to post with a sae if necessary.
Basis all the support and advice I've received here I would like to give back to the community.
Also have a couple of touchstones that are only being used as stands for my samsung.
I'm not on line as much as I used to be (Health reasons) so please DON'T expect an immediate response.
I will obviously be looking at post count and number of thanks when requests are in.

My oldest daughter uses our TouchPad, and has for years. My son is old enough now to be jealous. I would love to have another touchpad. I'd be happy to see if I could get one or both of those working and set them up with KK so that my kids can be on equal footing. I'm not familiar with 'collection' or 'SAE', my wife deals with shopping and shipping a lot more than I do. Do you have any takers yet?

SAE stands for self addressed envelope, yes one the big contributers has also asked for one. I believe that shipping cost to the US /Canada are approximately £20 ($32).I'm happy giving them away and will probably chuck in a Touchstone with each but don't want to be out £40 ie 20 per.
I will check on the cost and report back .
Roland you definitely have one to play with, I can't believe that haven't got one bearing in mind all the tutorials you have done.
If you and Roland are OK with that I'll get it organised next week or when ever is convenient.
Please note that I can't guarantee that you are able to get it to charge. They haven't been dropped but just refused to charge. Hopefully if you can't get it working you can cover your costs by selling for part's.

I would like one please, I'm here in the UK west middle-lands which would make it easier for you.
Hi
If you still have one of these I would love to have a play with it. I am actually in Brighton so could collect from you as long as you are accessible by bus (I don't drive)
Have you left them on the charger for hours??? I had the issue a couple times where they wouldn't charge, but after leaving them on the charger for hours they finally came back to life. Also, does the little light flash across the home button when you put them on a charger?
I am also interested. Any chance either of the TouchPads are the white 64-gig devices?
I understand at this point I am last in line, so if other takers back out, please let me know. I can paypal you the money ASAP.

I'll take one. I need it for parts.
@sstar Great thing you're doing, happy with my touchpads but would love a touchstone if you have one still. Contribution wise, my Touchpad Automated Installer has had 17500+ downloads so helped a fair few people!

Hello!
My phone has a damaged port and I would like to replace it. I saw some videos and it looks very easy to replace so I might try it myself. The only problem I have is that I don't know what to buy!
eBay sells the replacement module cheap but it comes from China and almost everything I bought from there (eBay) doesn't work 100% and I've asked refunds.
I know there are a lot of people who already had to replace their phone's port so I ask them to come to this thread and tell me where did they bought the port from (which exact seller, not site please) and their experience with it.
Many thanks! :fingers-crossed:
Hi, I ordered my usb port from Ali.. I think if you read the feedback of the item you can't buy any defective usb port.
I don't remember the seller's name but it costs 5€ and working the charging, Otg and audio out. Mhl I didn't tried yet.
Changing the port was easy for me, but I think it can be difficult for others. You must be careful.

I just did mine. Make sure you have the proper tool set and a grounding pad. I harvested my port from a broken one on Craigslist. Check your local area and see if you can find a smashed screen. I don't know how to add pictures to my posts yet but feel free to hit me up on Facebook messenger if you need to: Stephanie Supergirl Tweedy. Where are you located? I can just do it too. I was a certified repair technician (ha!) with Sprint. I use Tmo as my provider tho. =) Good luck!! :highfive:
I think it looks good.
