So I want to trade my evo in on a 3d obviously. However, I dropped my phone the other day and since then it wont read my sd card (it felt SO good to lose the otter box though :/ ). My evo is rooted, and without a working sd I dont see how i can unroot, which im sure would pose a problem if i go to trade it in. It just tells me i have a "blank sd card" but then i format it and it says the same thing. Tried different sd cards too.
I believe if it powers on, it is a flat rate

Damn Chinese built ROM.
yeah, i am pretty sure u can RUU via usb just fine.
I traded in my rooted moment and they just made shure it turned on. They didnt give a crap or even look at anything else. I would wipe everything and just take it in already powered on.
Couple things. You can Ruu through USB but if you did s-off then that needs to go back to s-on. However when talked to my my sprint guy he said it doesn't matter if it is rooted or not they just take them and use the parts. So as long as it turns on and the screen isn't cracked you should be fine.
And what about the SD card? Should I give my EVO with it or not? I'm saying, because when they replace your phone they send it without one.... What do you guys think?

I told the guy at target my phone was rooted and asked him if I should UN root and he said it doesn't matter as long as it turns on he ships em out and he don't care..I think I'm gonna keep my sd card too
Where are you trading it in at? I am doing the sprint buyback program and they said it makes no difference whatsoever. I am keeping my sd card the charge cables and possibly even the battery in case it works in the 3VO
Its doesn't matter whether its rooted or not. The Sprint Store has LITERALLY replaced everything on my phone except the original board! The camera, lens, screen (twice), the battery, the battery door, EVERYTHING all for free because I pay the $7/month for insurance...all repairs have been performed with root and in some cases a non-sense ROM and they never even mentioned it. Sprint will reflash the phones or part them out so as long as it powers on and is in visibly descent shape, you can trade it in. To ensure a full $$$ amount for the trade (assuming you have insurance), I would take it to the store and have them fix it...if it can be done in-store, you're money...if it has to be sent out for repair, I'd refuse and just trade it in as it...KEEP YOUR SD CARD if you've ruled it out as not the point of failure...
yea im positive it isnt the sd card. this is great news for me it seems, thanks everyone.
I scraped the paint off my trim to show the red plastic underneath. I have had very good luck with repairs, not caring about root, and always replacing everything that was broken or cracked. will they care about the paint?

Just got off the phone with Amazon, if you read the product description, it DOES NOT come with an SD card, translation - no movies or games in 3D. I want the phone for the processor, but when I get it I want the "cool" part too. I'm paying full retail so I'm going to end up adding a line and getting it for the discount, then... Still will be less than the $500 after activation and I get it tomorrow. If anyone is in the same boat you might want to re-think it.

It's probably just a description error since the phone isnt out yet. I dont see why they would take out the microSD card, boxes are probably shipped sealed.

No, I just off the phone with them too and they said the same thing. It's one of the reasons why the phone is cheaper with them.
An 8 GB SDHC card off Newegg is 12 bucks. If you're spending more than 12$ more somewhere else, you're losing out.
Just saying.
No way it comes without a SD card. Someone doesn't know what they are talking about at Amazon. They get the same box everyone else gets from Sprint

That's what I was thinking too. In all the unboxings you watch, the SD card is sitting there inside the phone already. Unless Amazon opens all them, and takes the SD card out? (Sarcasm)...
The rep was probably like: SD card with the phone? Um, no. You get the phone, that's it. We don't give you a free SD card shipped with it... Completely unawares that the SD card is already in there...
But you never know!

well that sucks
I really do not think you guys should worry. The chances that the amazon orders do not come with the same sd card that everyone else is getting is slim to none. The folks at amazon are simply reading off the same information that you were when you called in and are simply repeating that the description states no sd card. Desription is more than likely wrong.
I agree about them reading straight off the website like I was, and they both admitted it, but if you look at the other phones on Amazon (EVO, Thunderbolt) they specifically state they come with 8GB or 16 and can support up to 32 GB. EVO 3D only says can support up to 32 GB sd card. Thus the cancellation

According to a wire fly rep on another android board your eve 3d will come with the same thing that comes from sprint.
You kidding? Amazon reps = fail. Ive called in several times about false listings... they just credit me about 20 percent of the purchase cost and I am on my way. (If it was missing something)
They gave me back $25 on a pair of $80 earphones because it was missing the cleaning tool haha.
That's very weird. I thought Amazon was just a powerhouse when it came to selling items, so they could afford to be cheaper (like walmart).
this has been beaten to death. THe phone comes with an sd card, end of story. It is the same box that sprint ships you. They cant sell anything other than what sprint would give you. They dont open the boxes and take out the cards, that is stupid. All the websites have issues sometimes when it comes to discription. If you wanna know the true specs always go by the original specs from sprint.
The reps will never guarantee anything. Obviously a sprint or htc rep is going to not guarantee if the third party will come with a card or not. Trust me it is their job to save their ass by not promising you anything. Sprint rep will tell you to buy from sprint if you want a great product, it is typical.
When my phone comes from amazon and I will let you know that it came with the sd card.

They never open the box to tell you what comes inside of it, neither they have the box right next to them to see what it says on there. Just go by HTC and Sprint, those are the real specs. Wirefly, amazon can say it doesn't come with the card, if sprint says it comes with the card then it comes with it.
This was the same issue with thunderbolts where bestbuy website said it doesn't come with the card, I asked the guy at store and he said the phones come directly from verizon or HTC and we dont even touch them. They are the same phones that verizon would give you in their store. To think that we take out sd card is obsurd.
Wow all this issue about the description not saying it includes an SD card, yet no one noticed that the amazon listing still says it records in 1080p. So if you want to believe that amazon honestly gets a different box than Sprint and has a different product then you might as well believe that you will be able to record in 1080p, sounds like a hell of a bargain to me.
To be clear, I'm not saying I expect that Amazon shipped E3D's will shoot 1080p, but you might as well believe that if you are taking their description at face value.

For anyone who took advantage of the swap out for a Charge: What came in the package.
I've seen conflicting information. Some say it's a retail box + return box for the Fascinate, but others day it's a warranty replacement package, which only contains the bare phone with no back battery or SD. The store tech was under the impression that it wouldn't come with an SD and might not come with a SIM.
Anyone who's done the swap so far: What did you get?
My Charge will be here on Monday. I was going to go with the DInc2, but I saw the screen on the Charge and my brain shut off, heh.
I am supposed to get mine tomorrow (if they do Saturday deliveries) or Monday worst case. Anyway, the SIM card definitely has to be ordered separate because I have two receipts and one was for just the 4G card.
The kit is supposed to have everything that a brand new Charge would come with so just make sure that your receipt says + kit our something like that. But you are supposed to get everything including the 32GB card.
The problem is usually three lack of knowledge of the people at the store and they just order the wrong thing. I even had customer service tell me that on the phone. I guess it is happening more than it should.

Mine came as a brand new Charge kit: phone, battery, charger, back cover, sd card, manuals, etc all new and sealed in a Charge box (or at least it all looked brand new)... I just had to go activate it and get the 4G sim. The only problem I had was I wasn't told exactly what to send back, after I talked to several tech support people and vz store reps they all told me just to send the Fassy back by itself like a replacement, no battery or sd card or anything... I'm gonna be mad if I get charged the cost of it because I didnt include everything

Well they record the conversations so just write down the date and keep the rest of the fascinate stuff handy and if they try and charge you just tell them to go listen to the recording. Then if they still want everything back you can send it to them.

So I got some water in my headphone jack yesterday. Everything works fine other than the jack. However, I use the Thunderbolt as an mp3 player and through my car stereo a lot so I filed a claim through Asurion and paid the $100.
They are going to send me a new phone with a SIM card, charger and sd card. Now, can I just take the SIM card from my existing Thunderbolt and put it in the new one? That way I can just activate the device over the phone or online instead of having to go into a Verizon store, right? Also, I'm assuming it's okay if I keep my SD card that already has all of my stuff on it and then send the new one back in the return box? Same with the new SIM card.
Just seeing what most people do in this situation. Thanks.
It's ok to swap Sims and keep your sd card. Are you sure either one wasn't subjected to the water as well? If you're sure they're both good, it's OK to swap em' out.

Not sure if things have changed with this phone, but when I replaced my BlackBerry Storm through asurion last year their return instructions explicitly said to return only the phone. Got extra sd cards and chargers out of the deal. Also, I just had my bolt warranty replaced, and as long as your sim hasn't been retired, the activation instructions were to just move the sim over. In my case I had to go to the store to get a new sim because they retired it while I was using a temporary Eris. Hope that helps!
I agree keep the SD card and cords......you can just swap the sim card. Which is the whole point of the sim.

I had my Bolt replaced thru insurance and they sent my new one with an sd card, battery, and charger, but no sim. The instructions said to send only the phone back, so I kept the extra sd card, battery, and charger. I put the old sim in the new phone and used the old sd card too. I sent back only the broken phone with no issues and got to keep all the extra stuff.

Thanks, guys. Glad to hear I can keep the extra accessories as backups.
Someone quickly mentioned this but just so you don't have what happened to me happen to you, don't reactivate an old phone while you wait for your replacement or your Sim will go into retirement. If you don't do that you should be able to use the same Sim card. Make sure you send Asurion nothing but the phone I.E.: no battery cover, no charger, no microsd, if I remember right you might keep the battery too. They will tell you in the package but I believe thats what it says.
2 days ago yy EVO 4G LTE had the black screen problem. I am not rooted and have a stock setup. My camera worked fine since I purchased the phone June 3rd. The next morning I checked the phone and the camera was again working. However it developed a horrendous image quality issue (which I blieve is different from the oversaturated colors issue reported by many). Other parts of the phone was acting weird like hanging and locking up so I did a hard reset. I wiped out everything clean and now the phone seems fine however the camera is still messed up. Even the viewfinder (pre-picture) looks wacked out. When I take the picture this is what I get below. The photos taken in good lighting look horrible. So something is obiously wrong with the camera on this phone since the hard reset didn't cure my problem.
Anyone seen this before?
That to me looks like you have one of the special effects turned on. Hot the round circle button and see if you have it see on "no effect".

Granted, this was taken in different, but the red dots in the OP's remind me of the "posterize" setting I used to take this picture. I did notice, though, that once I backed out and back into the camera, the setting automatically restored to "no effect. "

Looks like an issue with the camera module. Not sure how much luck you'll have doing this on the LTE, but the original Evo used to occasionally have similar issues, and it was because the camera module came loose form the board it was sitting on. You could just disassemble the phone and reseat the module. However, if you have the option of doing so, taking it in for a proper repair would definitely be the better option; disassembling the LTE looks like it's way more of a pain than its predecessor.
I had this happen on my old G1, looked EXACTLY like that. But that's how it came out of the box. It didn't happen all the time so I didn't take it back. But I would see if you could yours replaced?

He's not having a software issue, that's a hardware problem. OP, take it back and get a new one.
Thanks for the replies. It's definitely a hardware issue. After the hard reset I went into the camera settings just to be sure and they were at default settings. I stopped by Best Buy last night where I purchased it. The agent check it out and confirmed he thought it was hardware related. Unfortunately for me I didn't buy the Best Buy protection plan so since it's been 60 days since purchase I had to contact HTC to get it repaired. So when I got home I called HTC and they were cool. They gave me an RMA to send it back to get it fixed/replaced. Unfortunately the turn around time is 2 weeks which means I'm without a Sprint phone in the meantime. I'll have to rely on my ****ty Verizon Blackberry Bold. I have an old LG optimus that I tried to reactivate temporarily but I got an online warning from Sprint that I will lose my SERO Premium 500. So considering how much of pain it was to get the EVO LTE on Sero it wasn't worth the risk.
Is it common for HTC to just replace the phone or will they tear it apart and fix the camera on the phone?
Yep, if all updates and improvement mods have no effect, definitely a hardware issue. Return it!

It sounds like in this case you're getting a warranty replacement, which is normal. I haven't actually heard of HTC actually just repairing your existing device, that's what the service & repair shops from your carrier (Sprint) or vendor (Best Buy) are for.

Now I'm wondering if this is the case. I sent the phone out this morning following HTC's instructions. One of the instructions was to remove any batteries, battery cover, or micro SD card. Don't think they would do this if they were going to send a new phone would they? At least in terms of the battery cover. in my case with the EVO LTE I removed my 16GB sd card and removed the camera cover then sent the phone to HTC.

Why didn't you just go to Sprint? They would've most likely replaced it on the spot for you. I've never sent any phone back to HTC if I had issues. I went right to Sprint and they 9 times out of 10 replaced the phone for me on the spot. If they didn't have the phone they sent it to my house and I got it 2 days later.
Bad Photos
I had to replace two phones within 2 days because of the crappy camera. I almost droped Sprint because of this issue. I still may if they don't start providing me with LTE service. I'm beginning to wonder why I paid so much for a phone that I can't full benefilt from. I downloaded a lot of photos to my computer and looked at them in Photo Shop. They were so far off in almost every area. I would love to be able to calibrate the screen on this unit. Does any one know if you can do this? Every screen I have seen from this phone has been different.

Because I bought the phone at Best Buy. Not the Sprint store.
Boy am I pissed off. I truly regret buying this phone now. I mailed the phone back to HTC on August 6th. They told me I'd have it back in 2 weeks. I've been following the HTC status tracking and it's showed my phone as "In repair" for several days. Then today, 15 days after I sent the phone back, I get an email update from HTC. It states "This ticket has been placed on hold for material at our Repair Center. We are currently awaiting the following part(s): Main Board
Once we have the part(s), we will fix your phone as quickly as possible."
I've been without a phone for over 2 weeks. Can't they just replace it with a new phone and then sell my old phone as a refurb? It's not like I had the phone for a year and I'm trying to swindle them. I just want an operable phone. I'm done with HTC at this point. My next phone will not be an HTC.
Will Sprint give me a service credit since my phone hasn't even been connected to their network?

Any luck getting your phone back?
So I recently took my lte into bb to get the digitizer fixed and I received a call today saying it was done. I get there and it looks brand new so I asked them if it was a refurbished model And they confirmed it was.
When I brought my Evo in I specifically asked if I needed to backup my internal sd... Which I was told "no they won't mess with your internal sd," in which obviously they did. I know I know back up back up back up.... But it's the principal of the matter. When I bought this phone a few months ago I bought a "new", not "reconditioned", phone.
I asked them what they are going to do about my data and they are supposed to be finding the device if it's not already formatted and in pieces... If they are not going to do in house repairs then I think I might go back to tep. It seems that when you find a phone with good hardware it's better to just fix screens yourself...
To boot, it was hboot 1.19 s-on and my old one was an original 1.12 s-off. It just bothers me, so I'm venting here... I told them to keep the refurb until they find my old one... I can only hope they do.

I get black tie through work. Precautions dude, you should've backed up your internal sd regardless. Sure the rep you talked to was probably just trying to get you out of his hair when he said they'd repair it not replace it. But I got my evo swapped out a week ago, now I'm soff with dirty raccoon running jb. And because I backed up my internal sd I have all those files still. Hell I even ruued before I took it in because I know it would be sent to a factory and scrapped. Moral of the story is even if they say otherwise, always do a backup
