Different Versions of SGS II - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am looking to buy a second hand SGSII. In trying to confirm the data bands for me the box seems to only list 900/1900/2100. The model shows GT-i9100. I need 850 for ATT in he states. I could not confirm on Google if this should be quad-band. Anyone have any idea? Thanks.

The I9100 (at least the versions I've seen) support the 850 MHz band -- I've using an EU version on AT&T for 3 weeks.

Will confirm that. Got mine on release from handtec. Works on 850mhz here in AUS on telstra

Thanks guys. Not sure why the box is not clearly marked. Supposed to be from UK thecarphonewarehouse.

[Q] S II international V GSM

Hello galaxy s ii community!
I may soon be joining you all but first I have to resolve a small issue before purchasing my gsii. This is the model that I am interested in but am not sure if it will work with at&t's 3g/hspa+ bands.

Good question. The SA denotes South America and I don't see any of the bands listed. Usually the International version is listed as the GT-I9100 not the SA-I9100.
I use my GT-I9100 on AT&T just fine with the $10 Unlimited Data Plan.
Ah :/. Bummer.
I'll have to do a bit more research then.

4g on international S3?

Hi, I am debating on buying the international galaxy s3 or T-mobile's galaxy s3 (the dual-core model). Since I am from the US, would I be able to use T-mobile's 4g if i bought the international version?
No. Hardware differences.
This has been asked countless times before.

If you live in some parts of California or the east coast that have 1900mhz 3G it will work. But that only covers like ten cities max. It would be 2G everywhere else.
Also T-Mobile doesn't have 4G.

Hey!
No its not international I'm leaving in UAE and I'm using Du cariouer and its not supporting 4g so it depends on the operator

What's the difference between SGH-T999 and SGH-T999V?

Samsung has source posted for both. What are the differences between these models?
I have an SGH-T999 and it's a blue T-Mo 16GB model (dual-core/2GB ram).
I believe the T999V is the Canadian AWS version.

The SGH-T999v is for WIND in Canada I believe.

According to the following article, it appears that T999 is the US TMo model, and the T999v may be a Canada-specific model.
http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/05/15/g...s-support-page-coming-to-wind-and-mobilicity/
At first I thought the two source codes may be the same (just identical copies), but they are actually two different sizes.
I know for the SGS2 Bell Canada would have the I9100M compared to the I9100 international version. For the I9000 Bell had the I9100M.
The V could signify its for Wind Mobile or Mobilicity? Usually the firmware for the I9100 would work flawlessly on the I9100M only difference was some modem files had to be borrowed from the M roms. Same for the I9000.
Continuing with the trend i would wager a guess that the I999 firmwares would work on the I999V. Whatever the differences are if your having specific problems (likely radio if anything) just borrow the modem file and away you go.
Why all the different versions? Because specific carriers like to tweak their phones just a little. FFC, no FFC, NFC or no, Specific frequency bands, theres lots of options and each one needs a slightly different number / letter.
Hope it helped! (If it did hit thanks!)

I have the s3, from Videotron, and my model# is also SGH-T999v, and I just assumed the v was for videotron, but I guess all Canadian models have it.

[Q]Bought SGS3 in Sweden. Is it LTE?

Hi,
As the title says. I'm wondering if this SGS3 is also LTE which means that I will be able to use 4G in the near future here in Sweden.
Any thoughts?
Just wanna know if it's capable if it's supports 4G.
Thanks in advance.
Think the LTE ones are 2gb ram but only dual core. So maybe check your ram. Or even check with google

LTE versions are only available in North America, Japan and South Korea.
If you bought it in Sweden, I am pretty sure it is an International model without LTE.
And even if it was an LTE model, you would not be able to use it in Sweden because North America and Europe does not use the same frequencies for LTE.
4g not too many here in Sweden, if you bought a gs3 here it's not LTE

USA t mobile 4g

Dear guys I bought my s3 from the middle east now I live in New York and with t mobile I only get edge on my data connection. I searched the web and xda but couldn't find a useful solution pleas help me with what is possible to do. if I rooted wich radio and Rom would work.
Thank u all already.

EDGE is the best you'll be able to get with T-Mobile. Your international GS3 doesn't have the 1700MHz band needed for T-Mobile 4G.
Your options are to live with it, switch providers and go with AT&T or sell your GS3 and buy the T-Mobile version.
Bellow is a screen shot from wiki pediatrician for gt-i9300 base bands it includes all almost there must be a work arriund to get 4g

I would say wait few more months t-mobile already started rolling out H+ for 1900. So in few months we will be able to use high speed data

where did you hear that?
Sell it and get the t-mo gs3 version, you'll need 1700 mhz umts to be able to get the 3g (fake 4g) on t-mo. And this is hardware is no root or magic to change it!
