I was looking on Development Forum and i found these two roms. I have right now Devoid.Franco with v15 kernel, and i want to ask something:
Which of those roms (Devoid #Froyo-Final and Void #forever) gives better performance? I see one is 2.2 and other 2.3.4, but that´s not the only thing i´m looking. I want something as stable and fast as the actual Devoi Franco, but i don´t know which of these roms should i pick.
Both of them works correctly with FrancoKernel v16.1, is that right? Are the Void #forever bugs huge or reasonable?
I´m sorry if this is already asked, i couldn´t found it.
Greetings.
i am currently using void #forever and till now it has no huge bugs...only some people are finding it difficult to find stock apps....as its gingerbread based and quite stable....i recommend void#forever.
If you don't use bluetooth headset, then Void is the best option.
It gives much higher performance and it is just as stable as the devoid you currently use or the Devoid by Noejn.
I am using the CM7 ported by mik_os, which is really stable, smooth and gives almost the highest performance possible. And Noejn's void is based on that, so it's even better.
As I sad the only bug is that you can't use your bletooth headset with the gingerbread because LG's original sources aren't out yet.
I hope I helped you.
Yes, you helped me I think i´ll flash Void then.
Only one last thing. I don´t need to flash ZRAM module of Franco´s kernel cause the Void rom has v17 kernel, doesn´t it?
Greetings!
I use devoid.froyo with last franco kernel and is greeeat and awesome. Performance is excelent and battery, even better. I am surprised with battery; One normal day (not much using phone) maybe can drain only about 30-40%. It means at 8.00h I have 100%, and at 22.00h is on 60-70%. It depends on how you use the phone, If I use it too much (playing, downloading, music...) maybe can drain only 60-70% and its awesome
So I think is very good, but I have not tried new void. Probably void is better....but I think devoid is already too good for me and I dont want to worsen battery. So I dont know what to do...xD
Installing the new Void i´m having a problem with the void-forever-addon.zip
When i try to flash it, my phone says:
E: No Signature (36 Files)
E: Verification Failed
Installation Aborted.
Why this happens? I could install the Void #forever rom normally, but not the addon because of this.
Its just unsigned you need to turn off the verification
Ok, done. I didn´t have to do it with other roms, so i was confused ^^U
Now it´s finally installed, thank you everyone.

I don't know, but I think you should flash the ZRAM module. If it's already installed then nothing will happen. Nothing can wrong so you may try it.
major decision for me is the text selection
2.2 does not have it
and 2.3 has text selection.
Any opinion more about which is better...? Void has the really good battery performance as devoid.froyo? Has devoid any advantage over Void?

Devoid is just a successor of void ( modified void )
No advantages at all.
I suggest u to use devoid bcoz void has the bugs which wll be only fixed if v gev sources like
1.Fm works with bluetooth on(means double battery consume)
2.cant play Avi using inbuilt video player(use moboplayer)
3.bluetooth transfer dnt work
4.nd many minor bugs which i dnt like to be on my phone.
5.call via bluetooth headset dnt work as mentioned by someone already

Hey after all you get to play the videos using Moboplayer so thats solved. And i have been using Void forever for two days and didn't see any problem with Bluetooth file transfer.
I think everyone should try this out. Great work..

Yes, sorry I mean void.forever, not the previous void
So then haroonak you say that no bugs problems and file bluetooth transfer works ok?
Well but, what about battery? In devoid.froyo is...great
void #forever has the same battery life as CM7?
I didn´t noticed any major problem with the Void #forever Rom, except of some issues before flashing the addon. I haven´t used the phone for having a huge battery drop, anyway, but anything better than the 98% of discharge after 12 hours of the 2.2 movistar stock rom will be good The only data i have is a 2% of discharge in an hour, more or less.
I didn´t noticed any major performance increase coming from Devoid. The phone is fluid, but as it was in Devoid Franco, a bit better because of Gingerbread. If Devoid #froyo-final is an upgrade of the Devoid Franco, i think it will be difficult to say which one works better. When i use the phone with this rom deeply i can make a better review.
I think this Void rom will improve, which can´t be said about Devoid cause it´s final, and also we have the francokernel v17 which is a beta right now, but when franco polishes it, the rom will work even better. The only think i don´t like it´s the lockscreen, if i can flash the previous one i will be good for me And also a little bug in the upper button.
I think, right now, Devoid #froyo-final with kernel v16.1 is a solid rom for this phone, but Void #forever with Gingerbread is right now really good, and it will progress. I think anyone doubting between these two roms should look if he needs Gingerbread and can afford minor bugs.
Greetings!

Great Kernel! SNES now works smoother than before, not yet perfect, but I'll try to overclock w/ void and maybe that'll do the trick.
Thanks mik_os!

mik_os kernel shuts down phone
Hi guys,
I cannot post this in the mik_os thread (this is my firs post), so i am asking you:
does anybody have random reboots with the mik_os kernel? I works great, everything is smooth like butter, but i noticed that the phone shuts down by itself, every now and than. I flashed mik_os kernel on Void and stock rom, so it is not a rom problem, my guess. Both times i found my phone off every few hours.
I guess i'm the only one with this problem, right?

The stock sd card are known for causing random reboot. You should try replacing it with at least class 4 specs.
Thanks, i will first thing on monday. The funny thing is i had the same sd card for a week now and i had no power off problems, but as soon as i flashed Void, the problem appeared. Maybe it is because the stock sd cannot handle ext4 werry well. I'll revert the partition to ext2 and test it.
Thanks for both Mik_os and nojen
Their job is amazing! Don't think about donating them, just do it without thinking because they deserve
Thanks to miks and noejn and of ourse let us not forget to thank the other devs who are striving hard to fix bugs, to create and redesign roms. And all of them that makes our optimus one reach its full potential.
@ruwin
Yes. Its the lower class sd card w/c is the problem. Buy yourself a better one.
Thanks mik_os the hardwork. Awaiting final version on gingerbread.... since I am new to this forum I have restricted access to post.

Hi just wondering. Can i flash this Kernel even if im already using Megatron? Im a newbie. Please advice. thanks.
Sorry to be a pain, ain't got me 10 posts yet but wanted to ask about this awesome mod.... I've flashed Void.Echo, which has Mik preloaded.... seems to have improved quite a bit but when I was looking at the CPU clock in SetCPU, it still goes to 100% when I rest my finger on the screen. A quick tap of less than a second doesn't do it but anytime it's longer, the CPU jumps back up to max.... is this supposed to happen?
Cheers guys
@anarchy32 I installed mik_os signed_kernel after i flashed void, and worked like a charm. I tested the kernel with Android Assistant o two p500 phones, with void and stock rom and worked flawless: the cpu went up to 50% max on looooong taps. You could try to flash the kernel again from recovery, it will reinstall it. Give it a try and tell us what happens.
i would like to thank both of them also for a wonderful work for LG O1, without them our handset is boring
yes thanks to mik_os for u work

i like Megatron because i am bothered with setting up void.. and it is the first ROM i flashed
void is awesome.
cant wait for cyan and ginga
megatron is the most flawless ever ...all others have some defect or the other..My take ?? Void brings unmount issues ..with LOL theres kernel panic with DUN profile ....UBuntDroid GPS issues and m done switching until somebody comes up GIngerbread port...
Void for me the best !

Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
VOID and LOL it is
the only one i've tried is Prime V2
wasn't impressed, didn't notice much difference from stock, so i just added JIT, HW to stock rom.
well so far, my favorite is ubuntdroid. i love the feel. megatron got me way higher quadrant scores (up to ~1400), but it just doesn't look as good. it's too similar to stock looks. i do miss those high peformance rates, but i've not been doing anything with it to demand that kind of performance, and i just prefer the way ubuntdroid looks, right now. i'm really hoping that i can get a black themed market to work. that's my next step!
I've tried void, devoid and mik_os's CyanogenMod port.
I loved how lightweight devoid was, but it was a bit too lightweight for me: I couldn't get the calendar app installed, although I did manage to get the rest of the gapps installed.
The gingerbread along with all of the CM tweaks was a lot of fun, but there are some still annoying bugs with a black screen on unlocking. I will definitely move to this one when the bugs are wrung out of it. Especially if it gets fancy new updated graphics drivers for 2.3.
So, I'm back to void. It's snappy enough, has great battery life (using some setCPU magic), and everything works (using the gapps, gingerbread, kernel, tapps modules). Much more fun than stock!
Just bought this phone (Sony Xperia x10) for my wife, after I smashed her Samsung galaxy S 4G during an argument last night. I ordered it overnight shipping so it should be here by Monday or Tuesday.
Now there were no custom roms out at the time she had her Galaxy 4G, so it was only rooted.
Yet after visiting the development section for this phone it looks like there are tons of roms being cooked up for this one, so I just wanted to get a few opinions on what roms are worth flashing? I'm looking for speed and stability above all. Its for my wife, so I want to be able to just flash something for her and never bother updating and flashing again for a month or two months at a time. Now if it were my phone I'd be flashing every other day! But that's only because I can handle bugs, beta testing, and known issues so on and so forth. Women though, they just want their phone to work, period. So what's the most stable rom to flash for the x10? Any insight, suggestions, heads up, and links would help, as I haven't got my hands on it yet, I want to go ahead and research as much as I can about it, so I can root, flash, and customize it for her right out of the box. Thanks.
cobratos miui is REALLY good...
Wolfbreaks cm 6.1.3 is also fantastic
I flashed cm 7 gb onto my gf's htc wildfire. Its completeley stable. She gets like 2 or 3 fc's every few days and guess what.......she still bloody moans lol.
Anyway back on topic....i vote for wolfs cm 6.1.3. Super stable, bug free and must be close to final release.
for stability i recommend z's freex10 roms
for eyecandy i recommend cobratos miui (my daily rom, fairly stable, has few bugs)
the stock 2.1 rom is not bad at all, just gotta optimize it a bit (remove bloatware, enable JIT, Sysctl, compucache, build.prop mods)....i think there are a few 2.1 roms with these mods already in place, however i havent used a 2.1 rom for a long time
if she wants take advantage of the nice camera on the x10, i recommend going the 2.1 route as the camera interface and quality is the best with stock 2.1 (IMO)

Since it is for your wife I recommend android 2.1. There are some nice girly themes out here for it, and she won't freak out of bugs.
Hi,
I've tested 5 roms :
-> original SE last update 2.1 : lot of lag
-> kX10 R2B001 - 03FEB1 : 2.1 rom modded : better than the official one : good but not for playing
-> 2.2.1 FROYO : very good but some bugs (like translation) and don't like the launcher, too slow for me : good for iphone lovers
-> Achotjan_Froyo_2.2.1 : 2.2.1 rom modded : the best for me : it's french lol -> Actually, found no bug, the best for me : very stable, better than the official, very fast (BB58)

Use Trips MIUI (2.2.1)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013210
Its the BEST MIUI rom with fully working camera and camcorder.
I am using it as daily rom. It is super fast and smooth.
many devs says here that ROM is perfect and EVERYTHING works, the problem is the with the definition of EVERYTHING,its differnt for every dev,for major roms you cant use camcorder so cant use goggles, bar code scanner ,video cam in all settings, there are some walk troughs and ways but then you cant call it everything
just go with 2.1,modify the stock one ,thats the best option
you broke the last phone....if there are too many lags, your wife will smash the phone this time
for us its all ok,for your wife dont take any chance!!!

Not all women just want their phones to work, period Some of us can flash our own ROMs. I used z's Freex10 but prefer wolf's CM 6.1.3 since it's very fast and good on battery. However different people have different problems with the ROMs they flash and it's worth paying attention to instructions
I strongly recommend you take look at this thread: talk.sonyericsson.com/message/59415 . It has many good ROM's for the X10 with some good feedback.
I have personally tried the stock ROM with JIT enabled and removed bloatware (did everything needed to make it quick) it worked good but the battery life sucked. Then tried FreeX10 and its pretty good and quick but yet again battery life wasn't any better than the stock one. Then tried CM by Wolfbreak and its pretty darn good. Battery life is def better and so is speed.
Im going to be honest with you none of these ROM's are even close to perfect. They all have slight bugs, all force close once in a while.
So here's my advice, if your wife isnt exactly tech savy + likes to use features such as the camera and wifi alot than stick to the stock ROM and wait for SE's update this year.
If she is a problem solver (isnt afraid of using google to solve any problems she has) and doesnt want a phone that lags to often and has good battery life than go for Wolfbreaks CM 6.1.3. Although wifi and camera can pose problems sometimes on this ROM
Hope this helps

for battery just go for void u can even try open optimus the coming built on sunday
try lol 1.4.2 easy to install and works great...for better performance, flash over dookmatt kernel
i'd tried open Optimus. then i flashed 2.3.4 ! itz gud! bt the battery issue seems to be bugging me :/
and as far as lol is concerned. . i cant get mobile data connection working on it even when i have proper access point!
I'd recommend devoid.franco, I'm using it now and it's working great.
I've flashed devoid.franco. when i overclock it to 729, phone random reboots(kernel panic?). And my quadrant scores are low, ~690.
And I can't even still post in the ROM thread to get solutions, until I finish 10 posts that is!
Try void with franco's tweak plus app2sd. Decent performance, decent battery life and lastly stable.

Yup, that's what I use and love it. Why would anyone use anything else?! CyanogenMod is the most used by far and therefore the most tested. Only thing I don't like is the ADWLauncher theme/personality they include by default. However it's dead simple to switch to LauncherPro. Just download it from Android Market and hit the home button and it will ask you if you want to used it by default. A much better theme/personality IMHO.

try beta 6.4.2.. ! it hardly has any bugs
In the end of 2011, i´ve tried some combination to minimize the bugs and get overclock, but always get on reset bug, or stucking apps.
I´ve tried LG stock ROM + franco´s Kernel just to get overclock to stop the slidIT keyboard to bug or stuck(too slow), and the 3g router option wasn´t working
So, few months later im here to ask our community the best combination os ROM + Kernel, with the low ammount of bugs. I´d like that 3g router work, and no reset bug.
Thanks and sorry for my english. BR here.
Actually I don't know which one is the best. But just would like to share my experience.
Stock 2.3.3 with Franco kernel worked well for me. Except the wifi hot spot as you said.
Blackbird is nice and smooth. But I have the bug about battery percent freeze.
Openoptimus is one of my favorite. Work well with darktremo a2sd. Smooth too. But I love to change. ;p
Now I'm using CM7.2 nightly11 with its stock kernel (just changed from PerfectPeso1.1). Stable for me from 2 days use. Not so smooth. Good battery life without wifi/3g. But drain quite fast with wifi/3g. Just enough for me to wait for ICS from lupohirp.

Custom New BB ROM with .32 kernel is much awaited......
Wrong section.....
only 2 answers?? i expected more review from users...
Anyway thanks..
Isn´t in wrong section, im asking for general purpose and general users, for a experienced reply, not asking tecnical solutions/info
I'm currently the same as u. Stock gingerbread 2.3.3 rom with Franco's latest kernel. The only problem left is Wifi tethering/portable hotspot and touchscreen lag. The game that lag the most when touching is Tiny Tower!! Anyone plays Tiny Tower on LG Optimus One? It lags when you controls the lift.
SacredGuy i´ve left custom Franco´s Kernel just because i need the wifi hotspot. My P500 is fully original stock rom.
Anyone else have some info to spare?
Try new nightlies , pretty stable , or use ics like me xD
