Hi,
Anybody having issues with the webtop application while using the laptop dock and their mouse freezing while using the firefox application. Its really annoying. I have to remove the phone from the dock and put it back for it to start working again. This happens only with the mouse, everything else works... such as the keys.
I've seen this problem before while testing some other things on the webtop and figured it was my BT mouse. Control from the touchpad that the atrix turns into when in webtop mode seemed fine though. I'll see if I can figure out what's causing this.
Stupid question, but a possibility.
When you double click the corner of the touchpad, it turns if off. There is a small indicator light in the upper left. Is this on or off when it freezes?
If it is off, try double tapping that corner to turn it back on.

Hey jkrohn,
thanks for your help but I already checked the basics, obviously the light is on because the touchpad is on but when it freezes the light is still on and does not respond to the double touch.. like I said correctly it freezes...
I gues you have not experienced this huh..
No, luckily I haven't experienced it.
The only time I had a freeze was after about an hour of watching hulu.
I had this problem, but I didn't know about the double click option for tuning it on and off. I fixed it by undocking and redocking the phone. I'll have to keep an eye on this next time. I don't think I double clicked the light on the touch pad at all when this last happened, because I never tap the touch pad area.
mine has once or twice. I closed the lid and reopened it and it fixed itself.
I'm hoping there's a software update/bug fix to speed webtop up, and fix the track pad.
Yes mine does it all the time in firefox, i have mine on a uk orange brand with latest updates. How do we go about updating the lapdock? Any fix woul be great as its very annoying.
Thanks
Paul
hi, guys...i have the same problem got a 200$ laptop dock from amazon and my touchpad move around to different area especially to corners of the screeen when the firefox is open. This is really annoying....I have Aura 1.1.3 build 8 with 2.3.4 webtop fixed image [CWM Install] V1 . So much money spent on this phone.....
Moisture?
My trackpad sucks too, and the mouse freezes once in a while, but for me it's usually when I get something on it like if I took a drink of my soda can and had some moisture on my finger, and then touch it. That's when it starts bouncing around all funny and sometimes not moving. Solution is obviously just wiping off the pad with your shirt, or any other absorbent material for that matter... I really did write this in hopes that it would help, but reading it back now almost feels like a waste of space. Oh well, good luck with your trackpad!
I am having the same issue and I just received one from AT&T. Is there a current fix for this?
Just got the dock today and wanted to share a few thoughts..
kind of clunky to attach but may just take some getting used to. Once attached feels just like a netbook
Loving the keyboard shortcuts. There's even a key to take a screenshot!
Have been trying to figure out whether there's any need to touch the screen when docked. Only thing I see so far is unlocking the tablet. You can even scroll within widgets
Wondering if there will be any apps that will allow for remapping keys. (i.e. assigning a key to custom app or shortcut
The overall feel is very nice and compact. The piece that holds the tablet looks weird when it's closed though.
The whole thing fits inside my Gtablet sleeve perfectly.
All in all, worth the money IMO. I can't stand typing on a touch screen and I can see that this will be my primary method of typing on this thing.
Post edited to remove thumbs up. Not stable at all
2nd edit (5/11/11) back to thumbs up after updating to the beta dock firmware
awesome.. want mine now!

Have you encountered the glitches with the touchpad being activated and the keyboard suddenly not responding? a number of us have including me. Disabling the touch pad seems to prevent the disconnections but really annoying nonetheless.

I've experienced it as well. Hopefully the next update will correct the problem, since the touchpad functionality w/gestures is very nice (when it works).
BTW, how do you disable the touchpad???
not once. been using it all day, in and out of the dock

Fourth button on the top row of the dock, the one with a slash on a dock symbol. It doesn't solve the problem unfortunately, at least in my experience.

Thanks - unfortunately it doesn't help me either.
Where was you dock from?
What firmware does your dock have?
Oh great! Now I'm starting to have issues.
1st I noticed the I was missing all apps from my home sreen. Dock/Undock fixed it.
Then I notced a big time lag in my typing. No biggie still better than touchscreen.
Then while playing around in Gallery I lost dock. Dock/Undock fixed it.
Also, the wifi is beginning to intermittently turn off. hitting wifi button fixes.
Now the lag is more noticable. Typing with it now and the letters show up about 1/2 second later. Sucks cause I was just beginning to learn neat tricks with the dock. For example, I was using 2 fingers to scroll, but learned it's easier to just hold 1 finger still and use the other finger to scroll.
Hope there's firmware fix made available soon.

I got my dock from AmericanTV in Peoria, IL on May 5th. Its running the default firmware it came with, whereas the tablet I have updated to the latest 8.2.3.9 firmware from the Asus website.

Thanks - I'm running the latest firmware as well for the tab. I'm assuming the dock firmware is what it shipped with (EP101-0207).
One other question: When the dock freaks out, does your battery status icon show a question mark over it?
No refresh button is a real bummer. I think this button is far more useful than say, the auto light button.
The backspace button is also really far for those of us who have smaller hands. But, this is something you can just get used to.
Does the hardware keyboard support languages other than English? Can you change the predictive input dictionary language and/or the keyboard layout?
Can you type, for example, German or Japanese on it? What about typographical symbols that don't have a dedicated key (like dashes)?
Delay, there are supposed to be regional keyboards available in the future.
I don't have mine yet, so I can't expound on detail regarding settings in the TF, but I doubt one will be able to simply change the language of the keyboard without changing the language setting of the whole OS. Also the keyboard will probably still output English characters.
Got my dock yesterday, and UPS just dropped off my TF a couple hours ago ( ).
Anyway, I just 'mated' the TF to the dock for the 1st time, and it did not sound good / did not go well. Didn't want to go down, and it seemed like it was getting hung up on something. I slid the latch over, and pulled the TF back out and a tiny little piece of black plastic fell onto the desk (very tiny... like 1mm x 1mm).
I finally got it to dock ok, but the little sliding latch isn't automatically sliding all the way to the right. It only goes about 1/2 way, then I have to sort of help it along to get it all the way over.
Anybody else had this problem? I'm wondering if I have a faulty dock.

Is it supposed to go all the way over? I've just assumed that it was designed to only go halfway. Now I'm really curious what other people's docks are doing.
Mine only goes halfway if my TF isn't clicking in completely to the dock. It does go all the way over as long as I push down and get both sides to click in.
I haven't had any problems with the dock yet, no problems with wifi, no problems with touchpad *knocks on wood*. I did experience some lag typing into forms, but no more so than with touchscreen keyboard on stock browser, so I don't think that was dock dependent.
The only issue I have with the dock is I don't believe there's a button to the multitasker. I want to be able to move between programs more easily while docked. I don't want to have to touch the "monitor" every time I want to multitask. Also, I need the touchpad to register pinch to zoom. I'm hoping these get updated soon.
Has anyone tried an SDXC (not SD) card in their dock yet?
Yes it is suppose to go all the way over. If it's not going all the way over for you, then the transformer is not COMPLETELY flush with the dock. Meaning that, when you close the transformer down with the dock it should be smooth all the way around.

Hi,
I'm just posting a new thread to see if this has happened to anyone else.
After upgrading the firmware, the touchscreen is not responding sometimes. It's very strange. Even on the unlock screen... I need to use the keyboard to unlock it.
And then suddenly it would work. Then become unresponsive again.
I've tried:
1. Power down and on
2. Hard reset
3. Cold boot
4. Hard reset x 3 without any account login
It keeps on acting up like this, occasionally just getting stuck on the home screen, and I can't open the config, or move the screen.
Anyone else have this problem after the firmware update?
Thanks
Fortunately no but I got random reboots with JB installed on my side.
With ICS everything is stable.
You should check out a screen test app to make sure the digitizer is not failing!

Thanks for the replies.
It looks as though this only happens when I have the keyboard plugged in! Strange. Wonder if it's affecting the digitizer somehow, as that part of it above the port has bent and cracked a bit. Never dropped it and always careful when plugging it in.

When you say this only happens when the keyboard is plugged in is the keyboard connected to the power supply the same time? If it is this sound like an earth problem.

No I have it on without plugging it in.. I havent tried it plugged in.
Now this backspace key is giving me problems. Never had the problem before but ehen I type quickly or use the backspace key sometimes it exits out of the keyboard or shoots the cursor up a couple ofparagraphs. So strange. Maybe there is something wrong with the digitizer. Looks like this is going to ASUS for a third RMA...
This has been happening more often the past week or so.
I'm running the late-December-2012 "Energy ROM" release, and from time to time the touchscreen goes all wonky on me. It seems random but is happening more often as time goes on.
I can, for example, tap to open my Gmail account, but then holding my finger down in one spot in the message list will cause it to scroll down, scroll up, select and deselect different messages - sometimes when I tap on a message it registers somewhere else altogether.
I did apply a Skinomi skin not too long ago, so I'm wondering also if it's interfering somehow. I thought it was lotion having come off my hand once, mimicking another finger, but now it happens even when totally dry.
Anyone else find this one?
Thanks,
R
Is it plugged in or laying on a wire that is plugged in?

It is plugged in when it happens - I generally leave it plugged in at home - but not always.
Unless you count 'plugged in' as in, attached to the dock.
I pulled off and replaced the skin yesterday, I think I did a better job on the 2nd time through.

sometimes being plugged in to power source from wall or laying on a wire that has power to it will cause touchscreen to be erratic. get it away from power it will be fine.

This has started happening for me aswell at random. I don't have any skin on it or plugged in. Do you know if I can send it to ASUS to see about repairing it even though I have unlocked the bootloader?

Well - with a sample size of one, this seems to work.
I was having trouble scrolling through a large list of items, it was jumping all over - I unplugged the dock from the wall charger, and it smoothed right out.
So - thanks to whycali again!

Two days ago I received my One from T-Mobile. The auto sleeping/locking after inactivity feature is preventing me from using this device. Due to my severe physical disability (Spinal Muscular Atrophy), I am unable to push the power button to wake it up. I know this will drain the battery faster, but I have no other choice. Any suggestions to fix this are greatly appreciated.
Also, I cannot get Android Screencast to work like I did with my Sensation. The screen shows, but mouse/keyboard are nonfunctional.

Is it just the power button that causes you difficulty, or can you perhaps use one of the volume buttons? There may be apps that can change the functionality of the buttons and can be remapped to turn on the screen. Barring that, the screen turns on when power is applied to the USB, so maybe you could use that fact somehow.

The volume buttons aren't possible either. I'm not able to apply enough pressure to press down. Some days my mouse is even difficult. I am also not able to plug/unplug the USB. I appreciate the suggestions and welcome any input at all. If someone has specific questions about my exact limitations, to help figure out a solution, please private message me!
So you're looking for a way to never have your screen go off, is that right? And you can't press USB hard enough to insert? That means you'll be unable to charge a rapidly draining battery. That's not good. (Never sleep while plugged in seems like best option, to me)
If I can think of anything else, I'll come back.
Peace.

I'm thinking that you could have someone construct a large switch in the middle of the USB cable, which would turn the power on and off.

This is a good idea, however, I am not able to toggle a switch. What I am envisioning that you are referring to is something like a lamp that has the on off switch in the power cord instead of on the fixture. Is this what you mean?
Is there no way to edit the root to prevent the screen from automatically turning off when the device is idle? Also, any ideas on getting Android Screencast to accept mouse and keyboard input when connected to the PC via USB? From what I have read it is something to do with Jellybean. Perhaps an alternative app?
