[Q] Samsung Account username ? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody,
I did just purchased a Galaxy S2 I9100... A month ago or so.
And I can remember me to have sign up to a Samsung Account, as asked when I first started the device or maybe as I tried SamsungApp.
But I forgot my Password and I don't remember it asked me for a username...
And I didn't get any email as confirmation or so... !!! And that really weird... I find.
I have my phone, my email adress, and every thing, but just this username is missing and this damn password... I even still know the date on which I registered !!!
I though they would be some recover password functionnality somewhere...
But firstly I wasn't able to find any mention of a Samsung Account on my phone, except in the "Accout and Sync" part of the settings, which doesn't help me much as it does just confirmed that I once created a Samsung account
So, did you know some workaround to get my username back ? or maybe where I can find a password recovery function ?
I tried it with this homepage : innovator.samsungmobile.com but it just said me that my "email adress was already in the system" and that if I wanna get my password back, I need to give my username...
So what could I possibly do ?
I would be pleased to be able to log somewhere directly from my phone, as this account is actually registered in the phone... Somewhere where I could see my username would be the best...
And please don't say me "erease your samsung account and create a new one" because I don't want to be registered anywhere without having access to my profile with this email address !!! It's important for me to have control over this one...
And could also somebody explains me why we need such an account ???
Sorry for my bad english, I'm a French-speaking personne.

Username = the e-mail address, as far as i know.

I believe you got the confirmation mail in your gmail inbox. Go ahead and check that
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App

Well, I'm sure it's not the case : I have double checked and I didn't get any email at all !!! That's unbelivable, but it's maybe gone to the spam, and as I didn't checked it for a month at least, it must have been deleted... Anyway, nothing samsung's related, either in my gmail inbox, nor in the spam...
Any other tips ?
PS : username must be between 4 and 12 char... and my email adresse is bigger as that ^^' I've try it, cutting the 13,14 and 15th char, but it didn't work

Strange, if i wanna log into Samsung Apps it definetely says e-mail and password, nothing about a username. Don't know what username you are talking about Try logging in from your pc and see for yourself: http://www.samsungapps.com/

OMG, I'm really silly ! I did obviously give a false birthday to samsung, ( because I don't like to give any information about me to anyone...) But I did it in such an hurry, wanting to use my phone, that I forgot which false birthday I gave... And I didn't give the same as I normally do...I'm cursed, no way to explain how I was able firstly to forget my password and now the birthday I gave... well, I was certainly too happy top get my phone, I did everything in a hurry and forgot it directly, first timer it happen to me. well I guess I don't really need to have those login as my phone has it in its memory and if I do a reset or flash some new rom, I well still be able to create a new account...but it's quite disturbing, I find : I know I have an account, my phone is linked with it, but I'm unable to access my account xD
Btw, it has been little over one hour that I began surfing on the web using my phone through my wifi network and it's (the phone)now under 35% of remaining battery and the back it's really really hot... It's abnormal, isn't it ?

[Q] STOCK email client - hotmail - Error 301

Somehow my hotmail account stopped working on stock email client. I removed the account from the client and then attempted to login again. It shows following message on numerous attempts: "The attempt to sign in failed due to an invalid User name, Password, or incorrect settings. Please check your username, password and settings on the web, and try again. (301)"
I have spent around 2 days to sort this thing out and has done googling to find any solution, Appreciate the help.
I don't have a solution for your email client, but there is an official Hotmail app. It works very well on my S2 and it has address book integration as well. Perhaps you could give it a try.

Hi dear, Thanks for advice. I did downloaded and tried on the app as suggested. Again I have following message:
"the attempt to sign in failed due to an invalid email address and/or password. please check your email address and password and try again (300)"
I pinch myself to make sure I am typing everything right. However on browser it works alright. Any suggestion
How complex is your password? Any chance you can try changing your hotmail password to something simpler temporarily as a test to see if it is indeed a password issue?

Somehow a changed password did the trick.
I have the same issue, can you give me some info about your old ( ) password? For example, how long was it? Did it have any special non-numerical char in it? Cheers

Old password was 13 letters long mix of upper and lower case letters with some numbers. no non-numerical char.
At the risk of sounding like a stalker, how does the new one differ?
Mostly, is it shorter? Did the old one start with a number and the new one doesnt?
Mine is 20 chars long, has 2 "symbols", some numbers and it starts with a number. I'd really really like to find out where they cocked up with this

That (Bold) was the reason in my case.
Just a piece of information that hotmail does not take more than 16 letters/numbers/symbols etc as password.

Why is there this limit when authenticating from a mobile application, whichever that might be (the official app, the samsung email app, etc)?
I am afraid hotmail officials are the right people to tell you.

Virus on my Lumia???

Hi Guys,
I have recently installed the 12070 F/W on my Lumia 800 phone and last night an email was sent out to all 500 contacts that I have for no reason. There was an email attachment in the form of a web address which, when opened, brought you to a page in a magazine called Business Journal.
I am really worried this morning. I need to email all of my contacts to warn them of this. But what do I do with the phone, do I have a virus on it? If so, how did it get there and what do I need to do to remove it??
Guidance right now much appreciated.
It's nearly impossible to send something from wp7 without user interaction.
I think that your PC is a victim or someone guessed your password to e-mail account.

I doubt that something can send emails from your WP7 without your consent. Your contacts are also saved in your Live Account accesible from your PC. It could be possible that something has logged the Password on the PC and sent to a third person. You should make sure that your PC is always equipped with the latest antivirus. Also you should Keep in mind that Windows Live offers to sent you an one time Password via sms in case you Need to sign in from un untrusted PC.
It's absolutely impossible it has something to do with the phone. My guess is that someone got your Windows Live password and sent it from there...
Change you password asap
Done today, thanks. I was so surprised. I guess if someone had the password they could have done this online in my account without me knowing. First thing I knew was 66 undeliverable notifications on my phone late late night

So it was also sent to every Contact in your Live Account and/or Google Account. I guess someone had access to one of those.
Yes the mail was sent to every contact in my live account. It was simply a link to a buisness journal wzine as far as I could see; not a virus but a spam message. I have changed my password to access my LIVE account in th ehope that this will end it.

It's your email account that got hacked. Happened to my friend too, and he has an android. It's not your phone and possibly not your laptop either. It's your live account that got hacked by spam or virus.
actually not impossible
I also think that its impossible to mail/edit through wp phone api, making it nearly impossible to make viruses in traditional terms. Also for marketplace there are are some virus scanning made of apps on submission.
However app behaviour is another thing...
Think about the following scenario:
You install a smart dialer (for example) that requires access to contacts, owner identity and data services.
Without Your consent and knowledge the app harvests and sends of information from Your device.
The sum of all is that: yes, it might be a app on Your phone that is behind the mailing as well as it might be malware on your pc.
Don't install apps from unknown developers that requires more permissions then what seems ok.
Thanks for all your replies.
Seems like it has been an attack on my windows live mail account. Have changed password and will now do so every 90 days or so as recommended by microsoft. I have also checked all apps on my phone and there are none that i can see accessing my contacts. But I will continue to check.

There is no API for sending emails without the phone owner's confirmation so it is impossible. Though be careful when giving your email to websites (and apps too) as they can use it to send spam. Sending email from any address does not need a password.

[Q] Email addresses not loading

Hi guys,
My brother pricked up a galaxy s 2 yesterday for a new job he has and he needs email on the go - he's not at all familiar with technology so has been slow to get a smartphone but now has no choice. I have a nexus myself so am familiar enough with setting them up. Have managed to add his email account via the built in email app and email sends and receives fine. What it is not doing though is either suggesting an email address when you put in the first few letters or remembering an email address that i have just sent to. I downloaded the gmail app and added a new account to test it on this. Same problem whereby it is not remembering the email address that i have just sent to. I would appreciate any help as he is flying back to Brussels later and needs this for his new job
Many thanks

I don't have this, too.
So only way to get this work is creating a contact.
It will fill up when start writing.
Also u can try other email application (like K9) but I don't think that it is working...
So maybe ur brother create a Contact named f.ex. "JOB" and in this contact he add all the important email adresses... (just an idea)
Hope I helped.
CHEERS
Hey thanks for the reply - i just switched him over to gmail altogether as i couldnt get the other apps to work at all. I know he'll have to type the email address at least once before its saved even in gmail but i think the app is better than the stock one.
Cheers

Web Field Password Saved in Forms (for Newbie)

Hi Guys
Newbie here
I have a problem which i was hoping someone here could help. I have a GalaxyTab 10.1 and use it for work, presentation etc. I have a website which I use for some of my project management, and since I haven't used it for about 4 month, I actually forgot what the password is. I could retrieve it by using forgot password via email, but the old email address I stored in there no longer exist. I contacted the webhost (not much of a help) and they said it's privacy, unless email working, they can't do much.
Now whenever I visit the website, the username and password field is actually automatically filled up. password is in ********, when i click log in, it says you have to repeat the password again, which is where i get stuck.
Someone mentioned that there is an app which i can browse through all the password saved in the web explore and that might solve my problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks guy, appreciated heaps!!

Hacking a pin locked phone from my deceased son

My son committed suicide in September and his phone was found near his body. He put a pin lock on his phone. I've tried two of the 5 times available to open the phone with no success. I stopped by a local phone service business who directed me to this site suggesting someone might be able to help.
Initially, I was desperate to open the phone thinking there might be a clue as to why he ended his own life. We had no idea he was considering such an act. Since then I've had second thoughts about trying to open his phone, yet, I can't help but wonder if he might have left a note on the phone.
The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7.
I've just joined this group to see if someone can help. I look forward to hearing from you experts on the possibilities.
Hi , if it was adb enabled you can remove pin code by following this method .

Opening PIN locked phone of deceased son
Thanks for the suggestion. I started to review the full video but confess that I stopped after it appeared to assume I could log into my son's "Gmail" account which I cannot do. I reached out to Goggle and of course the won't help me log into the account. They might provide me some of the content of his emails.
At this, I have no way of accessing any email accounts with either Samsung or Google's Gmail in order to help open up the phone.
Frankly, I'll know within minutes whether there is something he left for us, his parents. If it help make anyone comfortable in helping me I could provide my son's death certificate minus social security numbers and other security risk data. I doubt you it would be useful but it's a form of proof at least that I'm not trying to break into just anyone's phone.

There is a way to remove Google Account by using twrp Recovery image for your device .
Search on the internet twrp recovery for your Model and instruction how to flash twrp recovery .
Once you install custom twrp recovery go to:
data/system/ and delete
Accounts.db
now reboot
You are done
twrp recovery question
If I go through the twrp process you describe will it leave the data that's on the phone intact? It would be nice if the phone still had access to the gmail account my son had. It sounds as if the process you recommend will disassociate the phone from his gmail account. Is that right.
Is this the only way to disable the pin lock which is all I want to do.
