EVO 3D Dead! - HTC EVO 3D

ok soooo i ordered my evo 3d from the premier site around 12:15 Midnight and received it today around 3:30, i Didn't have a chance to activate it til around 4:30. Once i activated it I was like a little kid on Christmas and couldn't put it down, i started syncing my contacts, Facebook, take pics, 3d etc. Well around 2-3 hours into it while i was downloading a Qik update from the market and browsing Xda it seems as a text was coming in and the phone froze for maybe 2 seconds and then shut down.... Now I can not get it to power back on, I called CS and tried just about everything except, standing on one leg hopping around with the phone upside down while pressing the volume down button and power button (although the sprint rep did metion to try it) So much for getting it early
Any one have any ideas that might be worth a try?

Plug it in for about an hour without trying to turn it on. It may be so dead that it will not boot at all.

That has happened to me if I was really abusing phone like running intensive apps for a long period..the phone would shut down bc the battery would overheat..let it sit like above poster said..I would think it could ne this being you said u were using tje Hell out of it

NOPE your screwed you gotta buggy one, aint that a bit$%, garrr garrr garrrrr NOOOOOOooooooOOOOoo =P
totally being a tool here lol
just pull the battery and then let it sit a bit and then charge for a while!
ALWAYS LET THE BATTERY CHARGE ALL THE WAY UP ON FIRST DAY!!!!!

Make sure you're charging from the wall and not a USB port.

I've left the battery out for about 5 mins then put it back in and put the charger on, its been plugged in (wall charger) for about 20-30 mins now. But the thing that seems strange is the charging indicator doesn't even light up while plugged in.

dang thats no good, go ahead an try and boot it up? 20 minutes should be plenty for it to have a strong enough charge to turn on... if not you may need to shoot to your local sprint store (corporate preferably for repair reasons and the such) and see about getting a new one!

Just let it stay plugged in for a while then try turning it on.

Well the sprint rep set up an repair order at my local sprint store so I will definitely be stoping by tomorrow so they check it out

Id call account services and tell them you want a new one.I had a phone fixed before and it still had problems. You had it 1 day they will send you another right out but either way best to do it asap.

well according to what she said they would replace it in store for a new one so thats what im hoping for.

Try putting the battery in.the freezer for about 10 min. Seriously

Because calling account services for every problem is the best thing to do.

That sucks, I would try to get a new one. I had a strange experience when I turned mine on the first time. It bootlooped the boot animation 3 times before it booted up. I was like, wtf, I havent even flashed anything and its bootlooping on the first boot! Then it fired up and I haven't been able to get it to act up since then. The damn thing was probably over a hundred degrees when I took it out of the box. It was like 107 degrees in vegas today, and those UPS trucks don't have A/C in the back. I bet it was 140 degrees back there, because the thing was frying when I took it out of the box. I'm hoping that was the issue...she was a little hot!
I'm always concerned with delicate/sensitive items that are shipped out, lots of unpredictable things can happen.

Battery, freezer! Curious to see if it helps. I've had this happen on both my Evo's and it worked.

stores already have the phone

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you might be stuck until Friday, at the soonest.
My EVO3D arrived by UPS today. Plugged in and powered up fine. Unplugged after charging and turned on, so I set stuff up. Screen wouldn't turn off with power button. After it timed out, screen wouldn't turn on with power button, still powers on with USB unplug or battery manipulation.
Okay. Bring into Sprint store.
They. Can't. Help.
Since this phone hasn't officially launched, tech can't touch it. Doesn't even have parts.
Okay, give me a new one.
They. Can't.
None of their phones are in the system until Friday. Manager called up the ladder for me, even to telesales, etc. Nothing they can do except order me a new one, which would arrive Monday, probably, Friday if I'm lucky.
This is the problem with the early purchase program. The phone doesn't exist to normal outlets yet.
It's too late to get anyone else. I might try some phone calls tomorrow, but I doubt I will get anything until Friday or Saturday at the earliest, when they can exchange my phone in store.
As best I can tell, it is not the linkage to the battery cover, I tried activating the power switch with my fingernail as well. Most be a bum power switch.
Ah well, the perils of the early adopter. Glad I can reactivate my OG EVO, although I had unrooted in preparation to turn in.

pull battery, put battery back in, put on charger for hour, unplug charger, plug charger back in for a while.
when trying to boot the device, don't try with it plugged in.
I've noticed on a few phones that devices that have gone completely dead sometimes wont turn back on while plugged into a charger
Plan B. Grab beer and start crying.

STOP...
WALK INTO THE STORE
DEMAND A NEW PHONE.
no need for you to second doubt your brand new phone.
Get a new one. I swapped out my phone 3 times, got new ones each time. If you do it within the first month of your phone, they HAVE to give you a new one, or else you can return the phone bc of the 30 day money back good stuff =)

Phone will not turn on

Yesterday, I was at the beach, phone was fine, later i go into the bag of things I brought out to check my shiny new Evo 3D, only to find it turned off, and I haven't been able to get a thing working all day, won't come on, wont give me a startup vibrate, screen flash, charge light, or anything. No water damage either I've checked the water indicator and nothing is different. Any ideas on how to get it back up and running.
Also, my girlfriends OG Evo will come on, but no screen, screen will not show anything even though capacitive buttons glow a normal, no water damage on her phone either.
Yes I posted this yesterday but under a weird title
Yes I have battery pulled
Yes I have tried a new SD card, and completely removing the SD
Don't know what else to try
Please help
Maybe the sun borked something in the units. I don't know if you left it baking in the sun but I know that leaving it in direct sunlight for prolonged period of time can wreak major havoc on LCD screens.
When you plug in the device you do you at least get a charge light indicator?
I'd suggest cooling down the device but since you said this was yesterday I don't see how this could help you.
Battery pull, fan cool down, wait an hour, reassemble and try again.
If no go. 611 my friend

The sun could of baked your phones both of them depending on how hot it was at the beach . I know the sun will **** up a lcd screen. Since your both having issues im guessing it was from the sun so I would take it to sprint and get it checked out .

I went to a sprint store today, they cant touch it until 30 days, I'm not sure how it could have gotten so overheated, It was left in the bottom of the bag, and everything else down there was fairly cool, i tried cooling it over the ac though.
And no, no charge light at all
question
How many days have you had it... Seems like a defective phone from the get go to me. I would be pissed if I bought a new phone and it died in 2 days. Return the phone and don't take no for an answer!!! They should give you another one.

I agree. Take the 3vo back demand an exchange. Take the evo back separately (maybe different store altogether) and have the tech fix it or do the insurance deal.
Beaches are the graveyards of electronics. Don't take them there unless you plan on burying them during your visit.

Hey I am having the same Problem (diff circumstances, not beach temps I am in Chicago) I was at my friends apt tonight showing off the EVO 3D when the screen just went black! The phone said it had over 70% battery remaining. It has been about 3 hours since and the phone will not turn back on. I have taken out the battery plugged in power and done it all backwards too. I don't know what to do right now. I got this phone TODAY!!!

Did you do the OTA update ? Isn't there a hard reset ? I haven't messed with the OTA yet. Got my phone today from sprint online. Anyways I know the HTC touch pro 2 had a SLEEP issue it was called the SOD screen of death phone would turn screen off and you couldnt get it to wake up at all. You had to pull battery multiple times to get the sucker to work.

I have been trying to hard reset my device all night now! I have been trying this method: google search EVO 3D hard reset and its the first link... basicly it says hold down your vol down button then hold the power button but nothing happens for me.
but to no avail! I have tried taking the batt out multiple times and press the power button. I have tried keeping the batt out with the power cord plugged in. nothing is working!

they just dont wanna becuz they might have to swap you and theres no referbs yet so they would have to give a new one and dont want to cuz they would rather sell it
so they have to take a look at it call CS 1800 theyll walk you threw all the stuff you tried (that didnt work) once its doesnt work with their help thell issue you a repair ticket and then the store will have to look at
Efff that...RETURN both phones as defective.
my evoG had 3 returns before i was happy.
Today my 3d decided to turn off and not turn back on after selecting an application. had to pull the battery to get it back up again..
HW002.. I will be taking mine back in .. seems enough people are having the device just shutdown on them for no good reason.
Remove the sdcard then try and boot the phone.
I ordered it online on the 21st, So what I really want to know, is if i take it to a corporate store with the box and all items that came with it, will they allow me to swap it there, or will I have to call CS and have them send a replacement?

[Q] Phone won't turn on or charge ...

My day-one 3d was fine when I went to bed last night. It was charged to 98% so I didn't plug it in. When I woke up this morning it was off, but I couldn't turn it on.
I plugged it in, and no red light. I unplugged it and pulled the battery for about 30 seconds; put it back in and still no power, no red light when plugged in.
Now I'm nervous, so I grabbed my husband's 3d and swipe his battery (his phone was charging all night), but there is still no power, no charging. Plugging it into a computer doesn't make a difference either.
I pulled my SD card and tried to power up. I held power and volume down, power and both volume keys, volume down and power repeatedly ... I've also tried different USB chords. My husband's phone charges fine with each of them, so I was just grasping at straws.
Am I out of options? Please tell me there is one more thing to try. I'm leaving it plugged in right now on the off chance... but I don't want to go to Sprint and get a new phone -- I'm all rooted and happy. Well, not happy today.
Anybody have any other ideas?
How long did you have yours plugged between the time you found it unresponsive and trying to power it back up?
It was fully charged before I went to sleep. I left it unplugged over night. Sprint has now thoroughly pissed me off.
If you've only had it one day take it to sprint and shove it up there... I mean politely ask for an exchange. First try holding both volume buttons and the power button if it wont kick on after 30 seconds with all three buttons held take it back.
Stock not rooted right?

sorry, but by day-one I meant I got it on the first day of release. I've had this thing rooted and running great this whole time.
I took it to the store and the guy was an ass. I won't have a phone until Wednesday now! I told the guy I'd pay for overnight shipping to get it Monday. I'd leave my broke phone at the store ... he said you can't do that.
Of course I called Sprint when I got home and the person told me the store could totally do that! Store manager can bite me.
I even asked if I could use an upgrade from another line to just buy another phone and put it on my line. He said as soon as I put it on the other line they would charge me full price for the phone! He said that started in January! WTF ... no more early upgrades and you can't use your upgrades the way you want!
This is just ****.
I got with sprint from uscc about two months ago. Bought an evo 4g cause I was low on cash. The like 100 online special for new line. 4 days later traded the 4g for the 3d. Never once did they try to nail my friend for giving away her upgrade. That's BS man sorry.

I figured they are bullshitting me. I got a second store to overnight me a replacement phone ... I hope to have it Monday, but I'll probably see it Tuesday. I'm going crazy without my phone, though.
That first store was crap, though. My husband called to get an order number from them and they hung up on him twice. I'm shocked at the crap customer service I got from that store. Phone rep gave me $20 credit for my trouble.
All I want to do is go back to the second store and add a line to my plan -- no phone is so CRAZY!!!!
I hear that lol. What sprint store is this? Like where u from.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
I'm in Colorado Springs. The second store I went to had me write down what happened at the first store because they say they are making a case to corporate against the **** store. I hope they really are and that it works!
Right on hope u get lucky and the give u an 1.4 hboot. I read on here today someones replament came with it.

Rebooting, Overheating, and Problems (oh my!)

Morning, gentlemen.
I'd like to give you a break down of the 44~ hours I've had this phone as of right now and the troubles I've had with it. I'll preface this post with the fact that I work a corporate IT job and even as I may believe everything posted to be correct, please correct me if I state anything incorrectly. Thanks
I received the HTC Rezound around 3PM EST on Friday. Out of the box, I was unable to active the phone. I was coming from a 3G Droid X via an alternate line upgrade, and I had played with the Droid Bionic and had some issues activating there. I'll chalk up activating issues to needing to activate the 4G SIM card over the phone because of it being a corporate account. After 25 minutes on the phone with our Verizon representative, we were successful in activating the phone. Immediately afterwords, the phone rebooted. I believe that it did because of the PRI programming, but I'm also not terribly familiar with the back-end of the 4G activation.
At 3:30 PM EST it was at 35% out of the box after activation. I figured that I'd let it drain entirely to zero out the battery and charge it to 100% later on that night. After getting home and around 7:30 PM, the phone battery gave up and shut down. I plugged in the phone (HTC charger, HTC cable, surge protected outlet) and at 9:00 stood in front of the phone watching it go from off, to the HTC white boot screen, to the unlock screen where it would be completely frozen, and approx. 30 seconds later, would loop that process again and again until I pulled the battery. I go to pick up the phone and it's very hot. Not uncomfortable just yet, but hotter than any phone since the droid 1 had gotten in my hand. Pulled the battery, let it cool down, and booted to the HTC recovery (power + vol. Down) and wiped the phone. After booting, the battery was only at 14%. Strange since it had been on the charger, but I supposed bootlooping might hinder the ability to charge. After verifying that it was not bootlooping any further and using my old fascinate charger (same voltage, same microUSB connector), I went to bed.
Saturday morning 8AM, the phone was bootlooping again. Pulled the battery, let it boot up afterwords after and it was at 100% battery. Strange. Fast forward to 5PM: Phone has rebooted twice throughout the day maybe around noon and 2PM, but no looping. Battery was at 50%, and at 5:15 PM it begins to bootloop again. Pull battery, turn it back on, battery is at 9%. I plug it into the HTC charger using the HTC cable again to a grounded power strip. Plug it in at 5:30 PM and walk away.
At 7PM, I go to pick up the phone and it's bootlooping again and it is so hot it's literally uncomfortable to hold for more than literally a couple seconds. Immediately unplug it from the cable and pull the battery, also very uncomfortable to hold. I decide that the HTC charger is having many problems, and put it away so I don't use it by accident. I've uploaded a video on my Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=1661452940302) so that you can see what the screen was doing after it heated up that much. I didn't have any other problems with the phone after one FINAL reboot for last night.
This morning, I placed it on the charger: Same deal of massive overheating and the screen doubling. EDIT: I've also noticed that for the most part, it overheats if it charges past 50%
Simply put: This is a beautiful phone, a wonderful speakerphone, great at texting. But seriously: I haven't seen anything else like ANY of this online anywhere yet. Anyone else seeing issues like these?
Thanks.
Dan Manners
Nope.
Try pulling the battery and putting it back. Do not power up. Connect to charger and let it full charge. Disconnect charger and boot it
If it is super hot during any of that take it back.

I watched that video. I have NEVER seen anything like that and I have seen some weird stuff on my phone trying some weird modifications. (I have gotten massive screen tear and other stuff but that is due to the things I have done).
I would suggest returning the phone and getting a new one. I imagine that one is a lemon. You could try restoring the phone via the RUU in the shipped rom thread in the developement section but I think you should just return that one.
Unless you have messed with it aside from what you have told us (I doubt it though) I would return that one.
Easy
Return it.
My first Incredible did this, and my current incredible is doing this. Something in your phone is causing a thermal overload, which triggers a reboot, which gets only so far in the reboot until the thermal protection loads, it notices it is hot, and triggers a reboot [repeat].
In my case, the hardware radio (on both Dincs) was damaged/defective/finally gave way. 10 seconds on the internet will do this to me.
Return it. Do not diagnose it. Do not follow other peoples recommendations for testing. Return it. You must get rid of a phone like this.
Of course, this is one of my huge fears because I am leaving my Dinc for this phone; and now I am seeing that lemons are in this batch as well.

Definitely what I'm planning on doing. Debating on whether I want to hold of until tomorrow so I can show my boss though. I usually mess with my droid phones (Alternate roms, overclocking, undervolting, etc) and he always gets annoyed. For once, STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX it's acting like this. I suppose it's Karma

Just show him that video haha. That convinced me immediately. If it is really getting that hot there is a real problem and I would be getting it out of my hands ASAP.
you either just got a faulty phone or a faulty battery. as the others are saying, return/exchange it.
I personally got a dead pixel and the touch screen is a tad off(I'll click on a link and it'll think I clicked on the link right above(or below).... not all the time though.
right now I'm just sitting in front of Verizon waiting for them to open.
Mine gets fairly warm, especially when working while being plugged.
My first phone had a problem with the bezel coming apart, but it also ran warmer then the second one I have, it was always warm in my pocket, the new one isn't.
If you guys use LTE OnOff you can turn off the antenna you don't need/use be it CDMA or LTE. It will run cooler and battery life will last longer.

I always leave it off, LTE really is overrated. A wonderful nicety, but I don't NEED it.
...
With total and complete respect for the immediately preceding couple of posters, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH ... do not use tricks to cool your phone down.
You do not want to wind up on the other side of the 14 days with a phone which otherwise overheats from general use. DO NOT FOLLOW ADVICE SUCH AS TURNING OFF LTE.
Sure, if you have a working phone, and you think that will help your battery, then go for it. If you have thermal issues do NOT use bandaids.
(This has been a public service announcement).
LOL. I'm watching this very closely.
If the device isn't currently overheating turning LTE off isn't going to hurt it, lmao. They wouldn't bake in a feature that is going to make your phone melt down. Now, if you have problems CURRENTLY then you should warranty replace it. But 14 days doesn't have anything to do with it, you can call and warranty your phone anytime in the first year, 2 if you have the extended warranty. So it is NOT bad advice to turn it off if it is of no use to you. Don't scare people into killing their batteries just because they don't currently have an issue.
To the OP: I am currently on my SECOND DEFECTIVE Brand new Rezound.
The first one gave up on having any sort of vibrate function whatsoever (yes, the battery was pulled, factory reset, blah blah). Haptic feedback, softkey vibration, and all vibrations in general were completely dead. I took it back and got a brand new one since it's only 6 DAYS old. It only started having this problem this morning.
Got the new one at about 11AM today, and it starting having the power cycling issue that you're having about an hour ago. The phone is literally 7 HOURS old and wont stay on for more than 30 seconds before it reboots itself. I am VERY disappointed. Now I have to find the time to go in yet AGAIN to Verizon. I was on the phone with the tech and tried battery pulling it and factory data resetting it to no avail. It wouldn't even Factory Data Reset from HBOOT!
Sigh.

you either just got a faulty phone or a faulty battery. as the others are saying, return/exchange it.
I personally got a dead pixel and the touch screen is a tad off(I'll click on a link and it'll think I clicked on the link right above(or below).... not all the time though.
right now I'm just sitting in front of Verizon waiting for them to open.

Why don't you go in and calibrate the keyboard if it's off?
OP
I think you should have added a "None of the above" as a selection for your poll. would have a lot more than 2 people.
My first phone and my second phone are set up the same, both factory reset both with LTE on and the second one makes little to no heat when idle, the first was warm all the time.

Sigh.

I tried to go to Verizon today, but they refused to do anything since it's a corporate account and 48 hours old. I'm really up in the air about whether I'm going to stick with the Rezound or go back to the Droid X.

Wow, that's ridiculous. They had no issues whatsoever replacing mine (and the one I'm replacing tomorrow) because it's within the first 14 days of purchase. I guess it works differently for corporate accounts.
Honestly, though.. I can't imagine them saying anything other than "Sorry, we'll give you a new one". How can you be sold a product that is OBVIOUSLY defective (and certainly NOT cheap) and be told that there's nothing that can be done? It just doesn't make any sense to me.
I'm actually pretty upset that I keep having to go get replacements, even though they're new. I've been looking forward to getting this phone for a while and actually would like it to work correctly. It's just disappointing to see that 2/2 have been defective so far. Hopefully it ends there.

[Q] Battery/Phone problems.

Alright heres one for the experts. Plugged my phone in last night before i went to bed. Woke up and unplugged it. Phone said it was still charging. My thoughts of course were simply "awesome -_-". So proceeded to turn the phone off. Even when the phone was off, it still claimed it was charging. The cable wasn't even plugged in. So I pulled the battery and put it back in, giving me the same result. So I plugged the charger back in and unplugged it and that temporary fixed the problem. I unplugged it and then would keep hearing beeping notifications claiming i was plugging my charger in and unplugging it. Now naturally im thinking its a hardware issue and thinking it may be best to take my phone to an AT&T problem and work towards a warranty replacement. I just dont know how that works so ill have to read about it. I dont want to have to go a few days without a phone is the only thing.
If it helps im on unnamed 1.3.1 using entropys latest kernel with the blue monkey theme.
Also if anyone would like to chime in on a warranty replacement process please feel free.
Thanks in advanced XDA members.
EDIT: My phone was reading 88% and now its going up. Is currently at 91% and not plugged in.
FREAKING awesome! Perpetual energy phone.
Lol, ok, not. Does indeed sound like a usb port gone bad. Seems complaints like these are popping up more often. Must have been a few bad batches. I'd say take it back to stock and return it. Not worth worrying about total failure.
Though I'd recommend taking it to a place farther away from where you first got it, less chance of getting one from the same batch. Or ask if they have gotten a new shipment of sgsii's in.

Lol that literally made me laugh. But thanks for the reply. Planning on returning to stock and taking it back. Should i go to one of AT&T's device support centers or just go to an AT&T retailer?
EDIT: flash counter is at 1 but no "!" ...guess ill have to wait my jig to reset it to 0 before i try and do a warranty exchange?
Any place will work fine, corporate or not, as long as they have sgsii in stock. Worth calling before hand to make sure.
Nobody has yet reported being denied warranty from the flash counter being tripped. But I say better safe than sorry. Just make sure to follow the directions exactly. Some have reported their phones being really jacked up after using it. By far the minority, but nonetheless.

Update : went too a dscand they saw the same problem
. They restored my phone to what it was out of the box. The problem is currently not happening. We shall see what happens when I get home and attempt to root the phone.
Update II : got 5 minutes away from the at&t store turned the phone off, would not turn back on, went back to the At&t store and they said it was a hardware issue and they gave me a replacement
Thanks for the update. Talk about happy the phone didn't die through the night. That would have been super frustrating.

Droid DNA Wont Power On

So I have seen several threads on this. Need your guys help.
This is what I had before **** hit the fan.
Droid DNA
Rooted/S-Off/Unlocked
CM 10.2 Nightlies
In working condition when I went to sleep....
So what happen, who knows. I was playing D.O.T before hitting the sack. Battery was at 48% before locking the screen. Thought about charging my phone but decided that my HTC One needed to be charged first. Fast forward 6hrs later, HTC One giving me the green light that its good to go but my Droid is not tuning on. NO CHARGE Light, NO USB CONNETION, NO LIFE. I thought that maybe phone must have died. Bit weird though as it was only 6 hrs and I have never seen any of my phones die in 6hrs and screen off.
I did all of the available troubleshooting as I can think of.
Hold Volume - & Power Button - 30 Secs NO GO
Hold Volume + & Power Button - 30 Secs NO GO
Hold Volume +&- / Power Button - 2 mins NO GO
No go... thought maybe system may have been stuck or super deep sleep.
Apparently i dont have warranty with Best Buy. they scammed me, screw them, for another topic... So
Pulled back battery cover...
Unscrewed the screws that hold battery cable. Pulled out and waited 10 min before replugging it back in. NO GO.....
Took apart phone, took MOBO out, USB chip, top chip that hold the SIM, left everything out for about 12hrs, took a break and put everything together NO GO
So I consolidated with some friends and they had some success on their about this matter.....
Connect USB into Computer for 10 min then battery reset by Volume -+ and Power Button for 2 min NO GO
Charged for 12rhs Via Computer and did above NO GO
Charged for 12hrs via Power outlet NO GO
At this point Im leaning towards hard brick but idk how, didnt really do anything last night. Just sat there next to my other phones. No auto updates or anything that would require system reboot of anything of the sort.
At this time I have no charge light, no sign of life, and im about out of options at this time. I would send out to JTAG team to get it fixed but I dont have the cash to send out. My concern is that I recently bought the phone back in July and now Im bummed that it deosnt work. Money well spent but now a brick. Reverted back to my Note 2 and Moto X for the time being but would like to have her back up and running as I personally liked the phone.
Anyone recommend any option that I havet listed above or is there a way I can JTAG the sucker at home?
Also, as you can imagine from the the above, I have no way to adb and try to force something in it if software related....
*sigh....

Sounds like its becoming a normal......
Tell verizon your charger port just stopped working and you tried multiple chargers and it still won't charge until it powered off. They'll replace it.

Wow, you've got an HTC One, Moto X, Droid DNA AND a Note 2?
Sorry, not helping.
Sounds like the board possibly took a dump... Just speculation...

So called Verizon and told them that my phone has does not turn on at all. they troubleshooted with me on the phone.....
Nothing worked......
They said that they would send one out but I had to ask....
I have a small crack on the screen and that it didn't affect the phones ability to be used right. They said that well they could replace it but if the phone is serviced and they find out that the crack was some how the main reason that it was the problem (Keep in mind this is Verizon we're talking about) they would slap on the the full price of the phone on my bill.....
To my knowledge and experience sounds like the board took a crap and even if the replaced the screen, the board would still need to be changed out. If they say it was the screens fault, I cant say it wasn't it was the board because they'll question why I think that and how would I know, did you open it?
I did save the void sticker and it does show small signs that I was in there but I hate to risk having my account charged at full price for a phone.
Such a dilemma as its a brand new phone besides the crack in the screen. I talked to my coworkers about this and they said I could wait for a DNA to come in as a sale or total lose and try to snag the MOBO but who's to say that phone isn't blacklisted or worse.
All of the phones I have are what I call Frankenstein phones. I work in a shop that repairs cell phones/xboxs/ps3/computers and we pay for broken crap. Most of the time its a screen problem. They dont get insurance and dont take care of their phones so I scrap them and use different parts from other phones to build one. The only phones I eve bought was the DNA, Droid Razr, well most droid serious going back to OG..... just a Droid person.... stick it to IOS and Apple, lol.....
But back to the problem, I could wait for something to come in but again, they usual call VZW and blacklist it and then only good for screen, usb chip, and SIM/earphone jack chip.
What bothers me is that I bought the phone with my own money versus having parts come in and just putting them together so having a brand new toy break hits hard.....
I tried to see if there is any at home JTag is available but all i find is links to send it out to online place that services everyone....
Try a different battery. Maybe in those 6 hours the battery the battery discharged below the "point of no return". No battery, no nothing... Even a super bricked DNA will light the led when charging... But take out the battery and you dont get anything...

I have had similar issues. This has happened to me at least twice with the same dna I have. When I tried to charge it the orange light would not even come on.
My solution was to open it up and unplug the battery. If you have not done this yet you probably should. There are two tiny screws holding it onto the motherboard, take those off and pop the ribbon off the motherboard. After that, put it back together and try to turn it on. Make sure your power button gets lined up correctly. If you need to, check some tutorials on youtube on how to take the dna apart.

might try to PM @Zarboz .. beens is you fix stuff and he has a JTAG service maybe youll can work something out or if you read his profile he will do it for free with some conditions ... sorry .... and good luck
i have taken the phone apart already, down to the last bolt and sticker in there. nothing..... I tried a different battery from another DNA, no dice. So I can rule out that battery didnt past it point of no return but also means Im still stuck with a brick phone.....bwaaaaaaaa
To anyone who has this problem
I've repaired my DNA two times for this reason. I've try everything, I've taken it apart completely and reassembled and nothing. I end up buy one with a broken screen to salvage the motherboard and BINGO. Got it back to life. (about a year ago)
The second time I got the same problem and just ordered a salvaged motherboard from EBAY. Got it working back again (this was 3 or 4 months ago).
Today guess what happend again??... It died yet again. Same thing... No life whatsoever.
After this I'm pretty sure this is the same fault over and over again. Just a poor quality motherboard, it just dies after some time. For me it took from 1 year to 3 or 4 months. Every time the only component that I swapped was the mainboard, nothing else.
I'm tired of spending money on a phone that by now I'm sure i'll die again. :crying:
This is very sad because I love this phone too much just to let it collect dust on the bottom of a drawer. It reminds me of my old HD2.
I will probably try and find yet another board for it on EBAY.
I know it's stupid to fix something that will almost inevitably die again. But thats love I guess.....
This is just my personal experience with this issue. Please try every other solutions before you buy a replacement board.
PS: sorry about my english. It is not my primary language.
Its sad how common ive seen this issue around the Internet and still no straight forward fix or reason. Just casjy playing some og angry birds and my DNA just decides to turn off. RIP I guess, it was a good run.
My dna died today.
I have not taken it apart yet, but I guess I have tried all the other alternatives.
