are you saying the evo view is getting 2.3.4 tomorrow?
what is your source please?

Check out Phandroid.

It seems like the Evo view 4G is getting Google video chat... what about the flyer?!?!
" HTC and Sprint have an OS update for the Android slate, as well. With the OTA, the View 4G will be bumped up from Android 2.3.3 to Android 2.3.4, which will enable GTalk video calling."

Just got my view 20 minutes ago. I'm holding off on the update until I play with it this weekend. When I say play I mean getting a recovery on it.

It would be nice to see an update for the Flyer. Identical hardware inside!

This is encouraging news. I'm really enjoying my Flyer and Netflix is the only thing missing.

The View does not have Video Chat. If you look at the details of the update it clearly says it is disabled due to issue with the HTC software. Clearly the websites cannot read

OMW To pick up my EVO 3D. Glad to be back to the EVO Community.

Got rid of my EVO on the release date for the HTC Arrive to try out WP7. I like Windows Phone better honestly.. But they do not have a beastly phone yet.
Evo 3D Here I come :]
EDIT***
Gonna wait an hour to see reply's.
Is the Battery as bad as the original? I think i'll skip if I have to charge 2-3 times a day like my Old Evo..

I have alot of hope for WP7, but its just not there yet.
what is there is nice tho.
I was using the Arrive for two weeks. WP7 is a great OS and I look forward to Mango and future devices (read: candy bar, 4"+ screen, 4G, etc). I may grab one of the Nokias this fall. For now, Time to enjoy my new, incredibly sick EVO 3D!
Well done sir, i use a hd7 for a couple of weeks but i think WP7 is not ready to be compare with android, just wait for the mango update and see what happen.
If and when the Windows phone comes out I'll gladly and fully run to get it. It just really has to match what Android is offering hardware wise. For me Windows just works better with Exchange and Outlook.
I just love (and most don't) the Zune application and iTunes. Everytime I hook up my phone all my new music auto is synced to my phone. Amazing. It converts the video files for me automatically in Zune Software aswell ! I play Black Ops on XBL so my XBL account and avatar move and jump on my screen lol. It's not flashy as Android but runs better and more smooth.
NOT HATING ON ANDROID I LOVE IT!
I have owned every iPhone.
Numerous 6.- Windows Phones.. They Sucked!!!!!
I started Android with the G1 and I swear EVERYONE thought it was a iPhone. Like no biiiii !
The only thing Android lacks is the stability of iOS, BB OS(even tho dying), and now WP7!
It has the most functionality and can be hacked to be perfect but out the box... Just isn't close.
iOS>Android(UNTILL POLISHED notice all Androids have bad battery?)>BB
EDIT***
With that said.. I'd never go back to the iPhone .
Jamacainsolja, sign up for the Google Music beta install the new google music app the n your phone and put your music in the cloud. Install the google music app for your pc and anytime you add new music it goes to the cloud and your phone with no cable needed. I own a Zune so I do know how nice it is.
Oh and the EVO 3D is the first Android phone I can say has been iPhone smooth and stable for me.

I hate to say it, but Google Music beta has nothing on Zune...
I owned Evo 4G, The Arrive, The Nexus and now the Evo 3D. I sold all my previous phones. And to be honest, the one I hated selling the most was my Arrive. But we'll see...for now I'm going to try and enjoy my Evo 3D. I got 30 days with it to decide..

Missing Camera Settings

Hey, I went to the EVO 3D page on HTC's website and was looking around at some How-To's. There was something very interesting under the camera link. It said that there are supposed to be advanced camera settings called "scenes" for action shots, low lighting shots, burst mode, etc. I am assuming this is the camera app that I had on my EVO 4G from one of the Kingdom Ports with the EVO 3D camera. It had things like panoramic shooting, etc.
Why don't we have that on our official EVO 3D cameras? I wanted to check on XDA and see if this was just a bug on my phone or if everybody was missing an sweet camera setting that we should have.
Below is the link for the HTC page that I am talking about. Click the How-To on the Camera and read a few.
http://www.htc.com/us/support/evo3d-sprint/help/camera
I see settings under menu and also from the magic wand icon on the left. No advanced like you mentioned nor scenes. Did you take OTA updates? I have not
...adjusting to life without the trackball
I did both updates and there are no such options
look at the picture of that Evo3D on the link..Where the hell is my Transparent Rosie? Mine is solid
I dont know what the hell is going on..Its almost like they changed camera software at the last minute..Seems like these scenes disappeared with the 1080p recording at the same time..Must have been another Typo but i think this is grounds for False advertising

My Rosie was transparent until I did the OTA updates and now its solid. I guess it broke it.
Are you 100% sure? My friend didn't do the update and his is solid too
Sent from that EVO3D Thingy...I need an asprin.

I also did not update, and my rosie is not nor ever has been transparent. None of the available skins provide a transparent rosie either. No transparency to be found. Slightly annoying that a few minor things have changed.

when I hit my wand it says effects distortion,Vignette, dots, dept of field, vintage etc.. Is this what u guys are talking about or is it something else?
I'll guess some web programmer simply copied that page of info from another phone's info.
Yeah, this is a little more than a typo. These are links and how to's about what our phone is supposed to do. Kind of annoying that a phone called the "Shooter" (camera reference) has a downgraded camera app then a phone that came out a few weeks before it. (The Sensation)

HTC has the poorest camera/video smartphone features in the industry.
I communicated with them last August about my dissapointment with my Evo 4G camera with (self-made) charts showing them (what they already knew undoubtedly) comparative smartphone features between Nokia, SonyEriccson, IPhone and Samsung.
They definitively replied (last August) that they knew this and had 'numerous options on the table to address it'.
We of course saw nothing materialize on our 3D...(although the MyTouch Slider will see the first HTC camera upgrade in a month).
So for those that really value even status quo smartphone camera quality, the only options at this point are to move to Samsung ....or the Nexus Prime this fall.
Sad...Ive been an HTC user for 10 yrs.
I contacted htc about this, and some other camera issues. They said that the "scenes" feature would come out in a future update.
This is definatly false advertising.

Yes, I did the same and they mentioned the camera things like panoramic camera, and transparent rosie shown at CTIA were not included on the production release, and they are looking to include these in a future update. Same with the flashlight app and battery widget.
I contacted HTC and was told I didnt know how to use my phone and they would walk me threw getting to these settings. When I proved that they werent there I was told it was a typo of sorts. When I said I can produce Youtube video footage of an HTC employee showing off these features on the EVO 3D my mail went unanswered.

Can't install Crackle on Sprint Photon

When I search the Android Market for Crackle, it doesn't show up. If I link to the market app from crackle's web site, crackle shows up but there is no install button. If I select the browser-based market instead, it says that crackle is not compatible with my device. Any idea what gives?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that crackle may not be compatible with the photon
Yeah, thanks for stating the obvious. But it seems odd that an app written for Android 2.2 and later won't run on this phone. I wonder if they have chosen to only allow the app to be installed on phones they have actually tested?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Apps like that tend to have to be compatible with the phone as well not just Android. For example, Netflix first came out and slowly kept adding phones to the list and now is fill 2.2/3 supported. Now this is the downside with picking a phone that is not the "popular" choice even though in my opinion is the better one. Apps like that will get their compatibility for the popular phones first, like Evo 3D. I recall apps working for the Evo 4g but I would have to wait until they fixed them for the Epic.
Hopefully for your case it will be soon as maybe they will do the Bionic and Photon together.

[Q] [View] is rollback to GB possible?

Hey All, I know it's probably early for this... but is it possible to roll the OTA Honeycomb back to 2.3.4?
i recently bought the View for the wife and she's spent a couple weeks getting to know it and had it set pretty much how she wanted it (her first Android, and not rooted). I told to go ahead and do the update and now she's flipping over how it's completely different.
Thanks
there is a sticky at the top of the page with the answer...no it's not possible and not likely to be for some time.
great... I've read the thread over a couple times and have also been refreshing this forum for the last hour. I saw a lot of talk about rooted Views, wasn't sure how that pertained to a stock one.
Thanks for your efforts!

No.

Sell this one and buy a new one with GB from eBay.

I for one, would love to see the device with the official Honeycomb upgrade. If any early adapter would please do a 5 minute video, showing us the layout and operations. I'm really curious how the HTC Sense interface works in the HC system.
Secondly, if there are any apps that cease to function, I'd like to know ahead of time.

I know this is for the Flyer, but seeing how no one has put up a youtube on the HC View, here it is for the Flyer. I reckon it's not much different other than Sprint bloat on it.

I messed with the wife's View this morning... I really think HC is a step backwards on the View. I'm all for advancements in general and look forward to ics on my E4GT but I really hope I can find a solution for going back to GB, it just seems to be the better choice for this tablet.

Gladly on a 10" dual core tablet... I'll have to research ics on my phone before giving it a go. Feature, look and performance wise, I'm with my wife on liking GB better for the View at this point.

I don't have my view yet but I do have Sense 3.0 on my phone. By looking at that video, I think HC is a nice improvement even if the physical buttons are not functional.
okay, spent the morning on the phone with the store I bought it from, the local 'repair' store, Sprint support, Sprint Resolution, HTC support, HTC return/repair, and back to the store I bought it from.
No one will roll it back, either for lack of ability or desire... and I'm 2 days past the 14 day return period on the new device. LUCKILY... the local store manager gave in and is approving the exchange! I'm off to the store now... wish me luck.
Good luck, my ROM has updating disabled and I plan on updating my gingerbread ROM until we get ICS

Meaning you're skipping honeycomb completely?
I plan to... actually, for the life and usefulness of the View's hardware, I'm fine in locking it at gb.
I ran into a snag at the store... the one unit they had in stock was a 'ship to store' that landed today, but the person that ordered it bought elsewhere. The manager couldn't get it released from the other account. I have to go get it tomorrow.

I'm right there with you on that. I do not like HC at all, I like having buttons.
My plan is the same, wait for ICS or stick with GB.

I don't have the HC update yet, but I kind of scratch my head at all of the people complaining about the buttons taking up the screen. Right now along the top of GB you have a bar running. Now the bar is at the bottom and has buttons on it. I guess to me it seems pretty much the same, minus maybe a few pixel lines. I suppose it's a different story full screen, I guess it's just not that big a deal to me.
It is only a big deal because we have the hardware buttons.

actually the disabling of the hardware buttons had little to do with the wife's reasons.
I got the replacement one about an hour ago and just about to get it set back up for her.

GSIII Flipboard APK Available

Seems a sneaky dev swiped it from a Galaxy III demo unit at a show.
Its now available for any device.
I plan on giving it try later today.

Google currents works well, I'll see how this one holds up
Has issues on mdeejays ICS rom (gsm). Pretty often, the screen does not update after doing a swipe (meaning you actually are on the next screen, but it continues to show the previous one right after the transition is done.)
Tried deinstalling Chainfire, which helped with some minor artifacts, but did not solve the real problem. Anyone else having these issues?

same issue here. Assume its similar to the chrome browser flickers, and in the giffgaff app when you try and open the keyboard it fails.
think the GSM leak has a few minor bugs in it still
I did find though sometimes if you leave it a minute, go into the article a minute and back again, or flick quickly back and forth a few times it rights itself

Engadget
Abc news
BBC news.
All others are working correctly. Also I'm running this from my sd because when I had this on my internal mem it fc on everything.
#Root-Hack_Mod*Always\
So far, so good
Installed it last night on my Senseless ROM from monx and have had no issues so far.
I was a little disappointed that the app doesn't download stories for off-line reading (I spend 80% of my commute underground with no data service). In that regard, I am back to Pulse as my main news reader. It does exactly what I need.
