Got my view today... - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

And I'm loving this tablet. 4g and wifi are working great. 3g in my area isn't the greatest for me but I have the two fastest connections I can use on this thing. Text messages work and the gps with google navigation works better than my evo phone. Installed my 32GB card after getting the top bumper off and now I have 64GBs of awesome storage.

Just got it today and need help
I have not been watching too close but is there a trick to get my htc view to pick up my tp2's wifi router signal ?

I have the Flyer, but I'm considering going to the View. Love this tablet in a big way and would like to always be connected.

I'm assuming you are talking about tethering from your phone to the view. I can't answer that for you since I have the data plan. My original plan was to get the view on the lowest data plan and just tether off my evo but I wanted the sms/mms option with the view and I ended up having to get the data plan with unlimited 4g. Wish I could help but for now I have no reason to try to tether my evo to my view.

This tablet is great. The data connection besides wifi is awesome but if you have the flyer and have a rooted android device why not try tethering it when your out? Just a thought.

Are you sure it's just random bad 3G? I ask because for me the radio is ungodly slow. I did five tests and all were 800 ping and sub 100kbps speed with full bars in multiple parts of town. I'll update PRL and maybe reset it and stuff to see if it improves. This is with 3G, no 4G here.
My Sprint HTC Arrive right next to it is pulling twice that.

Does the view have working netflix? It would be cool if we could get a apk

Not with the launch software. There is an update already available for it that supposedly enables netflix but I haven't taken it yet since I'm still trying to figure out the partitions on the device.

I have a View and I'm having the same issue. 800 ping time and EDGE grade speeds over 3g. Nothing over 200-300kbps.

I just returned my Flyer and came home with my View.
I am getting 170 k down on 3g and 10.7 mb down on 4g at home.

I took the update and netflix was on the market waiting for me. I love this tablet too, its everything I've been waiting for!

If you bought your Flyer withen the past two weeks you shouldn't have an issue. I returned mine with no issues and it was stained from the rocketfish case. Good luck!
Btw the lowest data plan you can get is $20/month for two years. But that's not so bad if you consider that's $480 worth of contract but you get a free $80 pen and $100 less upfront.

The lowest data plan is only for 3g data and it doesn't include text messaging. I think I took the 5gb 3g plan because it includes unlimited 4g and messaging.

Oh Im not disagreeing that its a bad plan (1gb, no sms for $20/month) but as far as being locked into a contract it isn't a large expense. Personally I'm on the $35/month plan (discounted from 45 because of my phone plan with Sprint)

Same here. The 20 dollar plan was my first choice and I was going to tether my evo to my view but since it didn't have messaging I said screw it and got the next lowest plan with messaging.

We think a lot alike. Got the flyer and tethered to my evo, but went ahead and got the View convincing myself with the lie of I would get the $20 plan but after getting home and seeing the lovely little Messages icon taunting me from the home screen... I couldn't resist so I bumped up the plan. Which btw, for anybody wondering, is awesome. So much easier texting on this than my phone.
Not a single regret from signing that contract. Although I did start to worry that the 3g radio was killing the battery much faster than when I had the flyer, but then I realized I have used this pretty much nonstop since 11am (currently 6pm). Time flys when you're nerding it up.

I totaly would just return it but alas I was such a loyal HTC customer that I bought the flyer the day before its official release.... So I am scrued. Wish sprint had a trade in for the the flyer for the EVO view because i would do it in a second. Well all I can do is hope and pray that HTC pushes it to the bb flyer.

Taheen, you got that right. I went 6 hours straight before I realized it still needed to be charged after taking it home. Messaging really is a whole lot better and easier IMO with the view than my evo. I didn't doubt the flyer users who said this tab was great but now I can say I know why. I'm even sending this message with my view using the stock browser

[Q] Thunderbolt and 4G tether

In order to gain access to the developer threads I thought I would postulate a question here.
Some background that lead to this question was the rumor mill around Big Red sniffing out Rooted users that tether.
I checked my data usage online and was able to pull up the file size of all internet transactions over the air. I could assume that if I was to tether the PS3 or used my laptop to download some HD movies or something it may be a red flag to see like a 6 or 8 gig file. Also, with a tethered laptop there would be other things running in the background that may point to non cell usage. Not to mention probably a lot more data consumption in general if multiple sources are sharing the connection at the same time.
Now, say I was tethering my CM7 nook. Would not the data in both size and format be the same as the Thunderbolt. Is there even a way for the powers that be to tell that is is not the Thunderbolt. Maybe someone could shed some light on this as it is one of the questions that I have.
AdamT.
I use 5ish gbs on my phone only no tethering. Just saying.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I am at about 3 gig with about 10 days to go, and have not tethered anything to my phone. What I am guessing is that a red flag would be a 3 gig file in one download. In my Verizon it lists the size of all your downloaded files. My question is more about the type of data requested/sent from a tethered android tab vs a laptop.
If they can keep track of the size of the download you can assume that they can tell the type of the file.
Bear in mind that these are the ramblings of a paranoid dude. Sorry if my question is as clelar as mud.
AdamT
Tethering is free. Use it as much as you want. They are using us to determine how much data can one pull with a 4G device.

So 4g tethering is free?

I'm just saying...
A knowledgeable big red employee told me today that they have been tracking the top 5% of data users and "something" was about to come down. I don't tether so I didn't dig for any more info.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
I just wonder how much data the top 5% is using. Are we talking 100Gb, or would the top 5% be down to say 15 Gb.
Again, my original question still remains. Can they tell what kind of data you are using?
It does beg the question though, was free 4G tether a stress test on the new network, or a baseline for data consumption with tethered users?
Adamt.
It doesn't make any sense for some big red smackdown to be imminent. they are giving every thunderbolt owner free unlimited 4g (phone or tethering to any device, it doesn't matter). your packets go through verizon's servers so of course they can analyze all data. they could sniff/analyze the packets and steal your passwords or any other data if they wanted to, just like any other company can like comcast/sprint/att. but do they really care? i highly doubt it. why would they start throttling users without warning? what will happen is on may 15th they will announce whether or not we early adapters get to keep "unlimited" 4g. now its truly unlimited, but i would bet in the future they will have some fine print about a ___ GB limit. you are not going to get in trouble, and yes they could definitely/easily track if your hotspot app is running or not by various methods of network analysis. rooted phones are more of a gray area, but as amazing as LTE is compared to wimax, I'd gladly pay for the hotspot.
so basically... don't worry, wait and see what the rules are in may.

maybe the rise in price has to do with it?

No offense, but your friend doesn't seem to have thought out what she said very well. They aren't going to up data plan prices on those that already have contracts. They could yes, but you can bail on your contract without paying termination fees if they do so as well. Also, since the bionic will have LTE data (even if you don't use it), you will be stuck in the same contract as any of those that have the TB and if by chance they do raise prices and do so before you have the contract, you'll be paying the higher priced data plan.
Also, the bionic is similar to the atrix, just as the thunderbolt is similar to the inspire and other than the 2 core cpu, which will be more of a hindrance to performance for quite a while than improvement and the hdmi abilities, they dont have hugely contrasting specs. Well, other than moto blur, which is a shoddy piece of software and the locked bootloader that has about as much of a chance of being unlocked as you do winning a multi-million dollar lottery .
Reading threads like these helps me confirm why I think most people are idiots...
I will be moving from a "talk" phone to a new TB or ?? in the next week so I have been reading and trying to figure it all out for the past 2 weeks now.
A quick question...assuming I get the Thunderbolt.
I will purchase the unlimited talk plan from Verizon, then add the $30 unlimited data plan. If I root my phone (plan to do) then do or will I need to also purchase the hotspot ($20) service from Verizon as well?
If I read things correctly, all I need is the unlimited talk and data plans ($99) and I am good to go. I can then use my phone to connect my laptop to the internet and surf on it when I need to. Is this correct?
Thanks

I have this thing called a contract with Verizon. It's for two years. Big red doesn't get to decide if I get to keep my unlimited 4G on May 15th. If they send me a text message on the 15th saying my 4G plan is now changed, I get out of my contract without an ETF and go about my business.

Sadly, no offense to your friend, but they would appear to know about as much as everyone else in VZW's call centers when it comes to things not read off their support terminal, which is to say exceedingly little, and nothing to be trusted.
Now while it is possible VZW decides to raise their LTE data plan prices for new customers they will not raise the prices on existing customers while they are in contract. Reason being doing so constitutes a breech of contract on their part which means you can legally break your contract without penalty. A contract is a two way street. You agree to pay $X per month for a set length of time (24 months in this case) and in exchange VZW agrees to provide you services as lined out in the contract for the duration of said contract. If any party performs an action that is in violation of that contract then said contract can be considered null and void and depending on which party caused said contract to be nullified the breech could be subject to any liquidated damages stipulated in said contract (read ETF's).
Now back to your regularly scheduled insanity...

Agreed. 100%. Reading some of these threads make me paranoid as well.
Though I do have to wonder. If I were to tether my TB to my Eye-Fi SD card to upload photos, whether they would notice, care or know. Idears?
The fine print for when I ordered my TB says that tethering is free until May 15th, 2011. It's a "trial".

I'm joining AT&T and buying the note tomorrow.

After 12+ years of being with Tmobile I am ready to move to AT&T and upgrade my iphone 3g. Long story short, I'm sick of the run around BS they have been giving me. On top of that using a jailbroken iphone 3g is practically unusable ever since I installed iOS 4.2.1 It would get stuck/lagg for like up to 5minutes. Not even being able to hard reboot. Being stuck on edge speed was excruciating while all my friends are speeding around in 3g/4g speed smartphones.
Anyways, the Samsung Note blew me away at the store yesterday and I'll be buying one tomorrow.
Any words of advice, tips, coupon codes, discounts I should now about before making my purchase? I'll be buying 2 lines but only 1 phone. The other line will be for my mother who to this day doesn't even know how to txt. So she'll be getting one of those .1 cent flip phones lol.
I'm a noob to the android community and I'm looking forward learning as much as I can about android/rooting.

Someone on here actually did the math before, and the price of an unsubsidized device isn't worth it (you save something like $95 a year) unless you only have 1 line on contract.
In response to the OP, I would definitely recommend using the second lines upgrade to get a 2nd Galaxy Note. You would have to pay for data for the first month, but after that you can shut it off.
The reason I say get a 2nd one is pretty obvious.. Throw it on craigslist the day you get it for $500, then spend $30 and get a cheap-o flip phone.
We commend you for making the transition from Apple.. you'll be much happier on this side of the fence. Open source owns.

This is true, depending on how many people you have on contract. Typically though on a 1-2 person contract for unlimited plan, you save alot of money.

As long as the sim card is residing in a 'non-smartphone' or non-at&t device, you don't have to pay for data. Keep in mind this means you'll have to have another phone, you can't just pull the sim card out and stick it in a drawer.
Welcome to Android and AT&T if you decide to go that route!

I take it you're referring to this:
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/de...are&siteId=dZCX6Je2w8Q-sBG3oO9zQ5oOdYyuLQ44IA
I've been trying this for the last three days. It used to include the Note, not anymore.
I want to switch from T-Mobile too but only until I can get this deal again.
It's been 4 days since I got my beloved Gnote. I couldn't be happier. I was worried about its size but I instantly got hooked on the screen size and it's rich/bright colors. For me the best part is the 4G LTE speeds. I had been on edge speed (jailbroken iphone) the past 4 years. I can't believe how fast I browse now. I'm disgusted with myself for settling on an edge only capable iphone 3g for such a long time.
Switching from the edge/iphone 3g to this device reminded me last year when I finally got around to get a new bed. I had been sleeping on a cheap queen size bed that was uncomfortable (often waking up to back aches) to a king size hybrid latex/foam mattress. I felt like I had been missing out on a good nights sleep all my life. lol
I can't wait to root this baby!

I use a Note on Straight Talk. Got the Note from Craigslist. The math I saw someone do was flawed. But to each their own. I really enjoy the service and the price. I feel richer!
I was at the AT&T store today. A kid was convincing his mom to get herself an iPhone 4S, his reasoning to her was "you can talk to it". I stood there and used Voice Search, opened browser, GMaps, and Navigation. I moved to the iPhone Display and put my phone next to one, then walked away.
Everything the mom was saying she wanted a smartphone phone was what I had just done/showed.
She walked to the iPhone display, picked one up and said, it's smaller, a lot smaller..
My job was done, saved someone today.

switching to sprint from verizon!

i am wondering if i should get this phone and how development is going in these forums as i have a rezound and my contract is due in september should i get this phone in august as that is when i can cancel my contract or should i wait to see what else is released im switching to sprint as verizon decided to end unlimited data and i am not willing to pay retail price on a phone as i have already paid retail for the rezound so what are all of your experiences with this phone should i go for it or nah i dont like the nexus or gs3 help please!
Personally I love my EVO LTE. Honestly since you seem to be from Huston I would definitely drop Verizon and pick up this phone with Sprit.
A.) The rates are cheaper and you get TRUE unlimited data.
B.) Huston is one of the first markets that will be getting LTE on the 15th of this month so it should be running great by August.
C.) This phone is just so sexy it had to get its own letter just for that.
I had my OG EVO for 2 years and loved it. Now that I have the LTEVO I will never look back, I love this phone.

It's not that, but that paragraph has tried to disguise itself as a sentence.
You being in the first LTE roll out market, I say HELL YEAH. I would run and not walk to Sprint today and lock in unlimited data. Verizon's prices are out of control.
As a fellow Houstonian, get Sprint's EVO LTE. In about a little over a week LTE will be officially switched on. The women (or me, if you're into that sort of thing) who will fall for you will be in the thousands.
Yea I'd say switch as well. One of the early ones with LTE. I'm in Roanoke Virginia. I never came close to seeing wimax and highly highly doubt I'll see lte during this phones life.
Verizon is money hungry and petty. I'd say switch in a heartbeat and try sprints lte

Honestly, I probably would be with Verizon right now, if it weren't for the fact that Sprint just has a wider selection of more appealing phones. Another thing that sucks about Verizon is price! Sprint seems to actually be making an effort now to listen to customers and make them happy, so if you can wait for LTE and Network Vision upgrades, I think Sprint will be a better value long term.

i mean i only pay 70 bucks a month for unlimited everything because i am a vip member of verizon but no unlimited data is going to kill me i mean i have house internet but im rarely home and i use my laptop more with the hotspot off my rezound so easily i get at least 20-30gbs a month and these data plans they have released are too crazy so i think i am going with sprint on this one and yes i do remember the good old days with the evo 4g got it when it barely came out but switched after my contract was up because verizon got 4g lte but yes i am switching back to sprint and i am getting this phone the specs on this beast are awesome and then its coming out in white! oh yeah!

Sprint having the HTC EVO line of phones is worth the switch. Best smartphones ever made!
I dropped Verizon on Launch day of the EVo. I've had Sprint for over 10 years.

Please do!! get the Rezound. That way we can have one less taking room of the LTE signal.

Did you have both Sprint and Verizon then? Your comment confused me, since the EVO is only two years old. Your two sentences seemed to contradict one another.

let me help you out here my friend......... think about this....
is unlimited data even a validated feature when the fastest download speed you will achieve will be 2 mb down? here is my argument. at this point, this means you will ALWAYS be on wifi when at home, assuming you have wifi....
so the question is, how FAST will your carrier connection be, and how much of a *#&$ing nightmare is it going to be for YOU to have UNGODLY SLOW mobile data...?
if this does not apply to you, (meaning you never access internet when on the go - unlikely) then disregard this analysis.
here is the thing...
on verizon's network, your mobile connection will be conveniently fast, this will be something you notice, trust me.
so here is what i would do. if it were me in your shoes... stay with the faster network. these are not "phones" they are computers. and how irritating as **** is it when your laptop loads web pages in 30 seconds. or even 10........... try to fathom what this transition will be to you and how it will effect you personally.
1. use wifi when at home (not sure why anybody wouldn't anyways, it is always faster) this will save your "usage" of your limited data plan.
2. use that 2 gb or whatever data plan you have, simply to conveniently access things while on the move.
3. thank me for this post. i probably saved you from hanging yourself.

Got my EVO LTE for only $.99

Not sure if this has been posted, or even if I can post something like this, but I am upgrade eligible and really wanted a EVO LTE because I liked how the white version looked and the SVDO is also really appealing. I was searching forever for a deal, and really didn't want to even pay $50 the other week at Best Buy and I missed the day where BestBuy.com was selling for free. I came across an old SlickDeals post -
http://slickdeals.net/f/5324082-Sprint-HTC-EVO-4G-LTE-49-99-for-Upgrade-or-New-Line
The post was for a 49.99 deal, but when I clicked on the link, the Sprint site (which is a private store for Valued Sprint Customers) had several select smartphones and the EVO LTE was only .99 and no activation fee or shipping. I was able to order the phone without any troubles and now I have an EVO LTE on its way to me for next to nothing! If anybody else wants to avail themselves of the offer, you can either follow the above link, or I will post brief directions taken from the post here also:
go to http://www.sprint.com/99centoffer
Click on Phones tab, then select the type
That should take you to this website:
http://shop2.sprint.com/NASApp/onli..._Phone_Char&id12=CustomAisleLanding_Promo_PDA
I imagine that at some point Sprint might close this off, but until then I may have to take advantage of it a couple of times for some other people I know with upgrades. Cheers.

yea i got mines for that same price too! ..i saw on amazon for 20 bucks..new contract! n everything
Hey OP. Thanks for the post! Just bought my wife another little Christmas gift!
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
ya sprint has had some great deals ..just got one for the wife for free at best buy.. with contract renewal
I paid the $10 4g fee since the og evo. Never got 4g on two lines, so I complained and got a two line contract reset and 200 credit and an evo lte and galaxy s3 free. Try this over the phone with tech help after the third call and remember what you say. Sprint made my day, and it's wonderful having 4g all over chicago (not there yet officially) even in a warehouse basement from the 1910's. 5gb each day and never roaming or throttled, unlimited is the best. But i must say the evo lte is a way better phone, but the samsung has way better reception. Bye HTC loved my last 6 years with you, but back to samsung because i get signal. :crying:
if only I waited a bit longer. oh well. looks like i'll be getting my brothers two evos for their christmas gifts
I just bought the phone for my girlfriend with this link. thanks!!!!
Got mine my wife one for Christmas last week through bestbuy.com ...it was a 24-hour free Evo LTE with contract extension...since I got my evo in July I jumped all over it...gotta keep an eye out for all those deals.
Anyone received there's yet that was ordered this way? Curious. Actually JUST came back from the store after buying one to replace my broken one ($99 upgrade was cheaper than the $150 Asurion deductible), havent activated it yet but need to tonight, wonder if I could return it when this 99-cent one arrives.
Mine was delivered within 48 hours of ordering, but I was also within 30 mins of a UPS warehouse.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
Thanks, ordered mine yesterday and currently "awaiting processing at the warehouse".
I hope this is still going Jan 1st when my wife can upgrade. That would save me a lot of $.
$79 with upgrade/ 1ยข new line on Amazon. I'm still considering getting one.
Seems to be valid...

Can you order through this offer if you're on SEROP?
Well, despite having already done the upgrade at the store, activating and extending my contract I still placed an order for this that evening and it came today. Returned the Evo I just paid $150 for to the store, activated the one I paid 99 cents for when I got home without any problems. Of course, returning the one I bought in-store also undoes the contract extension associated with it, we'll see at what point the 99 cent one reinstates the extension. Definitely glad I saw this thread though, definitely saved me money!
Did any of you get this when selecting the phone:

Verizon: Grandfathered Unlimited Data is the only data plan worth having

This is not specific to the Verizon Galaxy S4, but it is indeed the only reason I will preorder the Verizon version tomorrow (as opposed to switching to another carrier).
The below says everything. Feel free to share your comments and add to sharing your stories on this great service as well.

I imagine that's the only scenario in which I would go with Verizon's GS4. Right now their most attractive offer is $70/month for 3G speed, 2GB of data, and unlimited talk/text. Pretty much worthless in my eyes.
Too bad we have to wait 30+ damn days longer than everyone else because they're morons.

Agreed, especially when T-Mobile offers unlimited everything for the same cost (technically cheaper because I know T-Mobile has smaller fees and taxes).

They're not morons. They know exactly what they're doing with those dates.
On a serious note though: Nevertheless, somehow still worth the wait just to have the number 1 wireless network in the country. Come on, is our impatience really worth getting mad at them?
I agree. Paying the extra $450 to get it off contract will MORE than pay itself back bay keeping the unlimited plan. I use my Vulkano Box to placeshift to my phone or tether to my tablet and watch on that. I'm using close to 8 GB a month. Nothing close to you, but enough to pay off contract and keep my plan is well worth it.
I have grandfathered unlimited for $63/month. But youre saying that Verizon gets the S4 a month later than everyone else? Don't know if I can wait that long.

You're really willing to give up a carrier (especially arguably the best carrier service available at this time that you won't be able to get back ever again after losing it) all because you can't wait one more month for a phone?
If you're going to go down that route you should consider not wasting away that service of yours and selling your line to someone else to take over. Grandfathered Unlimited Data plans on Verizon are as good as gold right now.
These eBay results speak for themselves: Link Here
And these are all the completed sale to give you an idea how much you can make on it: Link Here
I have two unlimited data lines that I took over for free last year right before they took away the upgrades. I bought an iPhone 4s and managed to preorder the galaxy s3 because both lines were eligible for upgrdes at the time. I consider myself lucky. I tether and share with my ATT friends at work I burn like 30gb a month verizon has never bothered me. I'm thinking Bout going to t mobile though to cut down on my bill and get gsm nexus phones

Wow, I didn't even know it was possible to purchase Grandfather plans from other people. Kind of tempting actually, but I'd hold off until I had more scratch. As it is, I'm buying the GS4 for full retail+accessories+new monthly data plan. Good to know it's an open option though.
Wow, Assuming that is mostly streaming video? I don't think I watch that much video on my HTPC a month at 8 to 12 GB per movie, lol. Must be nice having that kind of free time on your hands.
I tether to my gaming laptop to play online games I think it burns a lot of data. Also I use xbmc to stream movies and do some Torrenting. I might skip out on gs4 and wait to see a phone with that snapdragon 800 chip I'm very interested in the quickcharge 2.0 it has that they decided to leave out on the 600 sadly

Specific rule Verizon enforced. 3G to 4G basically means new contract to them even if you buy the phone full price they have to "upgrade" your plan as well to allow you to connect to LTE: Details Here

So the link above is good info, but is there any more detail missing? I've got unlimited LTE on my Galaxy Nexus and plan on pre-ordering the S4 tomorrow at full retail 649.99. Is there anything to be cautious of when placing the order?
I shouldn't have to change plans or anything, but is there anyway I could screw this up?

Does that mean I lose my unlimited either way since I only have 3g right now, even if I buy without a new contract?
My sister in law went from the droid x to the Verizon galaxy nexus last month and did NOT lose unlimited. She just went and picked up a Sims card and popped the ***** in. Took maybe 2 minutes for the phone to be fully functional. Her plan wasn't changed at all. If you take upgrade price you will lose it

Pretty much it's simple. To avoid losing your unlimited data you have to meet the below requirements:
Be already on an LTE device with an unlimited data plan
Purchase your new device all full retail or on the new device payment plan (dividing full price into 12 monthly payments)
Avoid using an "upgrade" on the line you have unlimited data on at all costs!!
Try to avoid making any little other unrelated changes in your service (you never want to give them a excuse to force you over to tiered)
If you have other lines that can upgrade (like family plans) you can use their upgrade to get the device at the cheaper price and then just swap your microSIM card into it

Unfortunately it appears to be the case. But who knows, maybe if you yell loudly enough and threaten to leave Verizon unless they can confirm they will keep your unlimited data, maybe someone will be able to do some "behind-the-scenes magic" and transition over for you. But in all reality, without a serious fight for it I wouldn't count on keeping it if you upgrade even at full price.
Well if I spend $650 on the phone, I damn well will scream at them if they tell me I still lose unlimited. I'm going to have to try to find out before I do anything I guess, not like I have anything else to do for 36 damn days.

See I guess there it is. I am never really in a situation anymore where I would tether my laptop. Our laptop is four years old and basically sits at the end of our kitchen table. We are pretty much 100% tablets for mobile computing now. I don't have time for in depth games much anymore. Work/gym/kids eats all my time. And if I am going to sit and "do computer", I am going to do it in the study in a proper chair with a proper keyboard, a big monitor, a mouse, and fast tower pc. Laptops have been squeezed out of my personal life by the superior overall experience of a real desktop set up and the superior portability of a tablet. Don't get me wrong...my work computer is a laptop, but I don't see much need for one for personal stuff the way my life is set up now.
I guess if I were a single twenty-something it would be different, but really, I don't have much of a need for big data mobile computing.
