Froyo vs GingerBread For Ace - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hi . I have kph 2.3.4 and i get 1270 in quadrant . Is there any official froyo for ace with this point in quadrant?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk

Quadrant benchmarks 2.2 and 2.3 differently, so don't expect both to yield same results.
XDA ♥

title seems does not represent the question thought

let's compare 2.2 and 2.3 for Ace.
good or bad
prop or cons etc.
I like 2.3, as it fix the wifi bug and speed up the phone and stable.
But did not resolve battery drian problem.
cheers

from my personal experience i would vote for 2.3..
as 2.3 is more smooth and fast.. (lol no idea if it really is but i do feel it)
less laggy
more battery standby
and camera resulotion (for video rec.) 640x480 in 2.3
and to be frank i dont follow quadrant test.. as i also do have galaxy 3.. and quadrant test never justify, the using experience of the rom i installed in all these months on my g3..

What about the battery, what results in comparison give you both froyo and gingerbread? What disadvantages have gingerbread, maybe some apps or other features are not working properly?

Has anyone got gTalk with video working with the latest v2.3.4 ?
I downloaded Vtok and it works absolutely perfect but this should be possible without another 20Mb app installed and duplication of contacts which happens with Vtok.
Anyone try it?

I get 205 mb of free ram with froyo and with 2.3.4 145 mb !!!!!!!
In froyo quadrant was about 550 and in ginger 1270 .
Games are smoother in Ginger but battery drain is much faster !

[Q] What is the most stable foryou rom to x10?

Please, I want to know what is the most stabe rom, now I use CM6.1.3 by Wolfbreak but it has many bugs and become slow sommetimes, please excuse my English, thank you.
Erickwill's 2.1 ROM, easily.
It's as fast if not faster than all other 2.2 and 2.3 ROMS.
No functionality is lost because it's 2.1, so camera and stuff completely works.
And just today I got my batter to last 4 days. 2G Networks, no 3G, but I used music 2 hours a day every day as well as 1.5 hrs browsing the webs and messaging/facebook. The 2nd best I got was 2 days with WB's ROM. Amazing. The battery life is the real seller for me for this ROM.
Rock stable, not one crash, excellent performance, and godly battery life, and regularly updated
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941745
Of course it differs by taste as well, and there are also other amazing ROMs, but this one is just my personal favorite.
EDIT:GAH! Didn't read the title properly, you're looking for Froyo, sorry! In that case, Cobrato has a nice MIUI ROM, but imo WB's rom is the best 2.2 one.
But overall I like eric's 2.1 ROM the best
foryou or froyo?
if you mean froyo Cobrato's MIUI is a good one

+1 fastest froyo rom around imo
Cobratos MIUI is very fast, Im just not an MIUI fan and the camcorder was lackluster compared to wolfbreak. Im using pzafroyo 2.2, Its real smooth and everything is working bu camera zoom. Ill be trying the ewjet 2.1 today, im gonna miss flash player tho.
Achotjan froyo 2.2.1 (v2.2) is the most stable ROM
the most stable and "comfortablest"
rom
is made by wolfbreak with working carmera/ camcorder
for barcode scanning use scanlife from the market

i tryed all of the 2.2 roms all of them has issues specially with Bluetooth headset.
they dont recognize the 2nd partition in ur sd.they gave fc in many other application that use the camera.no zoom in cam no flash light ..etc...
but if you wanna be with 2.2 i prefer miuitrip has great battery life but sometimes the voice in bluetooth headst become very low .thatz my 2 cents
Latest Wolfbreak's ROM is very smooth, u might give a chance to it
I flashed to TripNMiUI 1.0.63-TripNRaVeR 4 days ago.
Been really happy with it.
personally i would say for 2.2 "froyo" free x10 beta 4 ,but if you don't care for the camera much then i would say go for the 2.3 cm 7 it is amazing very fast and reliable
Sam
both tripandmiui 1.0.63 and wolfbreaks v006 rom are very stable and have fully working camera
my wife uses trips rom cause it looks better with theme support and very smooth, besides, i personally prefer wolfbreaks rom because it feels more pure and fast for me
i haven't tried any other ROM, so i cant say they are good or bad..
I have, trips rom called cm 6.1.3 v06 Android 2.2.1 and it works flawless on my baseband 2.1.54, no comments about it, and the camera works fine to.
Im from The Netherlands and i still waiting about the official 2.3 update !!!!

Wolfy's ROM + K10 Custom Kernel is the way to go. Of course the K10 disables the Camcoder but the FPS Cap removal is totally worth the penalty.
Cheers.
scamble_v01.3 by rendeiro2005 is the best for me no bugs and smooth and very fast 10/10
cobrato's MIUI

Which gingerbread rom ?

Ok I wanna try a gingerbread rom so which one ? andy's or mik_os ?
Ps : need maximum performance and average battery life
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
when u said average battery is ok.
go for cm7
Definitely mik's its quite stable so far. Double it up with Franco's kernel and you will be sailing at top speed.
My battery lasts me around 1 full day before needing to recharge and that's with lots of wifi, games, and sms.

[Q] CM7 Gingerbread Vibrant bugs

What are the known bugs with the CM7 Gingerbread ROM for the Vibrant?
I'm considering rooting and flashing my Vibrant to get better speed, but I don't know which ROM is the best for me. I've read that CM7 is popular.
Currently only one. Battery. Batter life will be around 30-40% shorter than on Froyo ROMs. Except...if you were getting 23 hours on a charge to be getting around 16.
He's right. Just battery. I used to have all sorts of problems with ginger, but it was either user error or I was using very beta-builds. Now 2.3.4 is incredibly stable with just a lil bit more battery drain than you are used to. My suggestion: try out trigger redux. Its a fantastic daily driver.

Where did you get the 2.3.4? I have the same phone as you with Firmware version 2.2, baseband version T959UVKA6, Kernel version 2.2.32.9 and Build number Froyo.UVKA6. A friend of mine put this on my phone and I don't really understand how it all works. Will 2.3.4 give me anything more?

Yeh but what more will this give me than what I have now?
For one. Snappier browser. Secondly, I was able to install the nvidia tegra drivers to be able to play games like samurai 2 vengeance. Oh, and you get the useless, yet sought out tv off animation. And until today, netflix [its available for froyo now]. You can google the rest. Seriously, the whole UI is snappier than bionix or trigger ever was. Its awesome how quick it really is.

I'd suggest the CM7 nightly builds. Cyanogenmod 7 is about as good as it gets which is why it is on so many devices.
The only bug your going to notice is that on some of the Gingerbread roms the GPS may not be working, although there is a fix which allows you to lock GPS everytime within 30 seconds literally...
As far as battery life, with CM7 I was lucky to get about 8-10 hours on medium usage, but after I switched out the stock kernel for Glitch's kernel i'm doing a full day, overclocked to 1300mhz undervolted daily.... and it runs beautifully.

hi,can you post a link,i don`t know how to change kernel for Cyanogenmod 7(for vibrant please),for a while i used this rom,and abandoned it because of poor battery life(i have flashed bionix 1.3.1)
Thanks
a couple of bugs i personally had when I was on the latest nightly build were:
Random Reboots: the phone just randomly rebooted when it felt like it wanted to :/ then I saw one of the specific reboots it happened when i tried to put the phone to sleep while entering text it rebooted for no reason i was able to succesfully duplicate this bug many times
Horrible performace: i wasn't every able to play this 720p mkv file i had on the CM7 rom apparently because gingerbread doesn't have hardware acceleration :/ or CM7 for vibrant didn't at least.
Now im testing froyo roms like the bionix 1.31 and the project V and they don't have any of those bugs

How were you able to install those drivers? How did the phone handle?
Sent from my T959 using XDA Premium App
Running CM7 Trigger Redux build 14 and I've only run into two bugs that could be my device, and one that's a known CM7 issue:
Low 3D framerate issues
Text written in landscape dissapears from fields when the phone is rotated to portait mode (May be limited to the Wells Fargo app)
SD cards do not re-mount in Android after being mounted to a PC unless the USB cable is disconnected and reconnected after turning off USB mounting
Battery is fixed, see sig.

MIUI??? like really?

So I have been switching between MIUI and CM7 for a very long time now, both on the fascinate and droid incredible 2. now i dont know why but i always seem to find cm7 so much faster and snappier but i love how polished and customisable MIUI is... i always end up going back to cm7. does anyone else notice this? i know alot of people say quadrant scores are a bad representation of phone speed but with cm7 on glitch kernel i can easily hit 4000 when OC'd to 1400 ghz....but then when on MIUI with the same OC i can barley get over 2000 to a 2200 in quadrant. i dont understand how the difference can be so great between the two. i really like MIUI... but if i have to sacrifice more than half the performance of cm7 just for a bit more polish then whats the point? does anyone else have the same problem?

I do notice this too.
I love MIUI but it just doesn't feel fast enough!
Quadrant is 100% useless, don't trust it for anything. Use what you like, not what gets a good score in a benchmark which is known to give very very unreliable results all the time.

CM9

Hi guys, I just want your opinion on our CM9 build. I checked and the average quadrant score on CM9 is generally lower than CM7 by about 300 points while overclocked to the same clock speed. I know quadrant isn't much but I feel it as well and ICS just feels less smooth than the gingerbread roms although it's supposed t be lighter. Can someone please explain? Is it a problem with ICS or CM9? If our AOSP rom develops do you think it will be smoother?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
The performance is great imo. But it's too buggy for the avarage power user and it literally fried my battery xD
If you want looks, use CM9.
If you want performance, use Cm7.
