Hello,
I recently got an Xperia X10a and upgraded it from Android 1.6 to 2.1. Everything works great except I am wondering if it is possible to change the new menu back to a pull-up menu like the 1.6 version had. I'm sorry if this is a noob question but I've searched all over these forums and even Googled it but could not find an answer. I don't know if there is a simple way to do it or if rooting and modding is required, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes.
Also, what is the simplest way to change the lockscreen back to the original 1.6 style?
Many thanks in advance!
Lockbot Pro does the job for lockscreen..!!
Thanks, that seems to solve my lockscreen problem. Now the phone is almost perfect.
It would be nice if I can figure out how to get the pull-up menu back. I know it should be possible...

Firstly learn to hit the thanks button in return for some help and secondly the pull up menu was a part of 1.6 launcher.. i think that's not possible unless custom launcher devs like adw etc make some provisions for it..
Hmm, well isn't ADW open-source? Maybe I'll be able to use that to make a pull-up menu myself. After all, I do have some coding experience, it should be possible...
Also, I don't know Android too well yet, but if I root my phone then what's keeping me from modifying the launcher directly?

if you know coding.. then there's hope..!!
If you want to do that i hope you are well skilled in coding...
BUT: I think there'd be no other way to get what you want...

Right, so back when the X10 was on Android 1.6 it had quite a nice thin notification bar, and the sliding app drawer was rather nice too, but ever since 2.1 they've both been replaced, and the notification bar is bigger and closer to stock Android size. My question is...is there some way, either involving internal tinkering, flashing a new ROM or whatever, to bring back the old, thin notification bar without having to downgrade to 1.6 again? Can the same be done with the old app drawer?
(Also, first post here, so hi. I know my way around a forum usually, and I did some extensive searching before asking but to little effect.)
It is not possible mate. I really liked it too.

I was afraid of that; though on the face of it it would seem that it should be possible, at least in theory. I suppose one way would be contacting Sony Ericsson about it as an optional inclusion in a 2.1-based update or adding into 2.3, but that seems pretty unlikely.
EDIT: Or if it's possible to dualboot 1.6 with 2.1 somehow, it would be worth trying.
sorry for reviving an old thread, Im on the arc now but i have an x10....i really want the sliding drawer back. Can anyone on 1.6 post the home apk, see if its installable with some tweaks? thanks!
Hi !
Everything is in the title
I'm looking for SE stock apps to use them as replacement for SMS/dialer/contact, because I don't like the ones built in CM6/7. So, is there anyone who have managed to use them with CM7 ?
Thanks you in advance
BTW : The stock 4 corners launcher would be nice too
(Or maybe we should wait for the next x10 mini/pro and get the new rom to butcher it and port it to our phone :/)
I am looking for it too please
T9
Can't help you on the stock progs, but, take a look at Go SMS Pro and TouchPal Dialer. I found them way better than both CM and stock dialers/sms

Indeed, Touchpad dialer is fine, even if the fonts are very small :-/
Go Sms seems good too, not totally at my taste, because again of the fonts' size, but it would do the job

Well.. small screen - small fonts
Have you figured what to do with with the in-call screen? When I use in-call dialpad (to browse throught voice menus) the bottom rows (7890) are hidden ...
I use external keyboard for that..
Any ideas?
Thanks
Not a clue :-S, sorry

About that, we know now why SE did choose the four corners ui xD ... To gain some place for things like a dialer :-S

There's a little confusion here, which is understandable.
Everyone is assuming the OP wants Stage UI version 1.6, and based upon his original post I would have as well. But that's not what he wants. What he wants is the drop-down tab bar that appeared on Dell Streaks running Donut (Android 1.6). As you can see the version numbers are the same.
Unfortunately for the OP, there is no version of that tab bar for 2.2.2.

My apologies, i didn't realise he wanted that.
You cannot have some things from Donut and Eclair, your options are, find a alternative or downgrade, downgrading is crazy though... i like the Donut screen lock, but i wouldn't downgrade to Donut to have it.
No I didn't want the tabs, as i said earlier, because in the other thread it was clarified that it can't be done in later FW-s
I only want a launcher which can really use the landscape mode, cause I use my devices in that position only, and the stock 1.6 launcher seems to be really good at that, buit all the launchers is optimized for portrait use, so they not very good at accomodating landscape

Unless I've missed something, this is no longer available in the Market
You can download and try a beta of Honeycomb launcher from this link
I feel like I will be and maybe deservedly so slapped for this but can somebody tell me if the "[MOD] [Universal] 02/26/11 CM7 GB Stock Launcher / CM7 GB Mod 3.0" thread also applies to the Atrix?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933517 is what I'm talking about.
If it is determined that I should have been able to find the answer by searching, please PM me the answer and delete the thread. Many thanks in advance.
I do see "Universal" and so I feel like this is a dumb question but I don't want to mess my phone right now as I'm liking CM7 a lot and have been using for a while.
Backup and try it.
It should work

Do you want the stock Gingerbread launcher (launcher2.apk)?
First go here
Then thank the op
Then enjoy the stock Gingerbread launcher with working 3D scroll.
BTW this is the only stock Gingerbread launcher that I have found to actually work with 3D scroll and clear icons. Usually it is off set to the side and has blurry ugly icons.
Thanks a lot. I will give that a try. I guess it looks like the launcher is not so phone dependent just like most other apps?
It fit like a glove. Thanks very much.
Hello guys,
Is there any way to install more themes to the phone? Without rooting, using a launcher or custom ROMs etc.
Or the only way to customize the look is to use launcher?
Thanks

Look through this forum for the theme creator and some themes someone updated. You might need root first though.
Yea I checked that thread but the program is in Korean and it didnt really work. And I saw those themes but I didnt really like them.
So the best would be to use a launcher after all? Because I couldnt find any other custom made themes.

Yeah. For this phone I recommend the following...
Holo Launcher HD (Same features as Nova/Apex, lighter on resources)
Launcher 8 (If you have some Metro UI envy, and make sure it's not the QiHang one)
Smart Launcher (Very minimalist and fast, use it for a week and you will be loving it. I stopped using it because it would force close every couple days)
Thanks for the tips
The absolute best launcher is Everything Home (beta), I promise you I have tried them all.....
New to forum, so i'm not able to post a link yet

Check again, there's an English translation patch in the same thread. It still leaves a couple of buttons in Korean but it's easy to see what those buttons are for.
