I haven't been able to get SIP calling via Google Voice and Google Voice Callback working via wifi and sipgate. I do not have a t-mobile data plan. I am not using t-mobiles wifi calling but csipsimple and have tried built-in internet calling both with same result.
The calls connect but there is no sound either inbound or outbound.
Does this not work or is there a work around?

Is there away to set the data connection to NOT connect while I am on a voice call?
Every so often ill be on a phone call with a client and suddenly my data connection activates.. probably from active sync... and it drops my voice calls.
Will I have this issue if I switch to HSPA on bells new network?
has no one else experienced this?
you need a GSM phone.
CDMA is ballz.
i hate bell.
so is there not away to set the phone not to connect while its on a voice call?
Will HSPA suffer from the same thing?
None of the roms I have used allow data to disconnect voice, but works other way around.
What rom are you using?
No joy on my X10a with the stock Android 2.1.
I got sipgate + Google Voice + the SIP app Groundwire working on an iPod touch.
Thus far, X10a, sipdroid + sipgate + Google Voice almost equals free calls, but things don't quite work for me.
Outgoing calls don't quite work:
If I ask the Google Voice app to make a call, it tries to, but then sipdroid also sees I'm trying to make a call and takes over and insists that the call either go out over my sipgate account (bypassing Google Voice) or go out over the cell network, using my minutes.
Incoming calls don't quite work:
a)When a call comes in, and I'm not in range of a Wi-Fi access point providing Internet access, I still want to be able to receive calls.
b)Conversely, I want to be able to receive calls over Wi-Fi if possible.
c)So, I have Google Voice set to ring my sip "phone" # and my X10 phone #.
d)But when the phone rings, it seems to be impossible to pick up the sip call.
e)If I change things to have Google Voice set to ring my sip "phone" # only, I can pick up the SIP call, but then I'm giving up on "a)", unless I try to reconfigure Google Voice every time I go in or out of Wi-Fi range, which is totally impractical.
I've looked around and found guides like these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010791 - [GUIDE]: Google Voice + Sipdroid + GV Dialer = Free Calls! -which is for the Thunderbolt, but can't find one that addresses the issue i'm having or the X10a in particular.
I have an X10a with the stock Android 2.1. I don't have root, as the guides I've found (like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746 ) aren't clear on how to deal with the add'l challenge of the lockdown on an AT&T X10a that's not found on a regular X10.
What am I missing? Should I give up on SIP and try Google Talk instead?
I do not want to use minutes, and don't have F&F. I do have Wi-Fi wherever I need to make a call, thanks to a MiFi 2200.
Unbrand and root your ATT X10a....

whats the difference? seem to me pretty much the same, why everybody insists on having wifi calling in their amaze when they can just install grooveip?
WiFi calling allows incoming calls and SMS to your T-Mobile number while on WiFi. It's also better integrated, so outgoing calls and messaging is easier, and it originates from your T-Mobile number. If you don't have number equity and don't mind the clumsy interface, Groove IP should work just as well for you.
The older phones that had true UMA could also handoff the call between WiFi and cell tower, but the Android WiFi calling has so far not had that ability.
I have tmobile branded amaze 4g. Wanted to know if it is possible to use wifi direct calling over my local wifi with another amaze 4g without the tmobile sim? As I am not on the tmobile network.
Wifi calling is only for tmobile users.

So even if we go onto a custom rom we cant do it?
Nope. You'd need to use grooveip (uses your google voice account) or similar apps.
Can't use SIP Provider

So I just got my phone a week ago and played with stock before going straight to CM10. I went back to stock because of some issues I was having.
In stock, I set up Google Voice on the phone as well as the Internet Call Settings in the dialer with SipGate as my provider. I have SipGate set to receive calls only and Google Voice for all outgoing calls.
My expectation was that I could go to the dialer and dial any # through Google Voice using my wifi at home or whereever, just not using any cellular services.
If I go to the Google Voice site and call from there, it does ring my phone (to bridge that connection) since I have SipGate set up to receive the forwarded call. I just can't call out from the phone.
From what I'm gathering for your reply is that even though I have Google Voice set to make calls through the phone, you're saying it won't work?? What is it about Groove IP that allows you to make calls with the dialer that Google Voice cannnot even though it's settings has that option?
It boggles the mind...
Oh and I went back to CM10 just to see if it was an issue with stock. Stock would start to dial, but exit immediately. I think I saw a little notice about service being out of range or something (again, no SIM). I actually did get a free TMo SIM that I used on my old Nokia XpressMusic 5800, but left it unactivated. A SIM was required to use some features.
In CM10, it doesn't even start to dial, but just says "Mobile network not available" even though I set Google Voice to make the outgoing call.
Hello Friends,
I am using Google Hangouts Dialer with a Google Voice Number. Whenever I use Hangouts Dialer at work it will connect the two phones via wifi but then there will be no voice heard on either side. It works with wifi everywhere else except with work wifi. Any solutions?
