Are you running any applications such as Juice Defender or Automateit.(Something that would be disabling data in any way?
Is "Enable Always on Mobile Data" disabled under Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks?
I have the same problem. What the hell is going on? I'm sure I have not changed any settings. And everything is on. I never used Sense before this phone so.. maybe there is some different settings?
Always data is on, no juice defender or anything like that. Gmail used to show up on my OGEvo immediately, before my computer usually, now it won't show up for 10 minutes if at all when I don't refresh it manually. Not good :-/
Try going into settings/applications/manage applications and clearing cache & data for gmail. I've never had a problem with the 3vo, but with my Hero anytime I switched roms/themes I had to do that more often then not....After you clear data, don't forget to log back into your gmail account.
Thanks, I'll let you know if this worked, did a quick test and the email DID show up instantly so hopefully that was the fix.

Thank you. This worked. Push worked at first but then it stopped two days ago. This also cleared up the issue with uploading to Picasa from the gallery. Awesome.

Would some kind person tell me how to fix messages getting stuck in my Outbox? The problem occurs randomly, I will try to send a pic or forward an email and it gets stuck. (Sending) You can refresh, sync, reboot phone, etc.... and nothing pushes the message. This happens to me on different ROMs too...
I have checked all around and have found quite a few complaints about the issue but no reasons and no solutions........
Thanks!
Can't say I have had that issue, but to be fair I just use it to read emails and rarely send them. Maybe you could try using gmail through the browser of your choice if it is necessary.
Yes, I had this same issue and found the answer in the KaosFroyo FAQ. Go to settings, manage applications, gmail, and push the clear data button. Confirm the action. The phone will immediately begin a resync with the servers after which you should have all of your email, etc. Send operations should then work without appearing to stall.

For me, it was "Gmail Storage" app instead of "Gmail" app that needed data cleared. Might as well do both for extra measure.
I'll have to try the gmail storage app as well. I've been having this problem the last few days, and clearing the data from the gmail app did not work for me.
Others have recommended a reboot after clearing data. No idea if that helps. Just passing along the info.
Wiping does not help the situation. I think the issue is with Google and the apk itself. They have made a lot of changes to GMAIL since I originally posted this. I have not had this problem in quite some time.
Make sure you have the most current version of the GAPPS.

I cleared out the data on both the Gmail app and the Gmail storage last night. Now my e-mails are going through, so that's good.
But my browser won't stay open for more than a few seconds. Figures.
Yeah, go into settings - appications - manage applications - Gmail - clear data and cache. Open the gmail app let it reconfiger.
Should work.
For ur browser. Do u have adobe flash installed? If so it makes thr browser do that.
Uninstall it.

But how about the email stuck sending? Clearing the data will delete it, I assume? It only shows me the first line with some dots, so no hope in copy/pasting and resending… unless there is a way to get back to editing it?
anyone know where this info is kept so I could grab it through adb?
thanks!

When you clear data for Gmail and Gmail Storage, it will delete the email that's stuck sending. So before you do that, go to your Drafts folder in the Gmail app and I think you'll be able to edit the email (and copy the text out of it).
I'm having a weird problem. When I try to login to facebook via the official app it gives me an error that it cant login at this time. And when I try to add my account to sense it says my password is incorrect (but it isnt). yet i can still login on my computer or even from the mobile site. I have already tried clearing application cache, wiping cache and dalvik, reinstalling, and reflashing but nothing works.... im downloading a different rom now to see if it helps. does anybody have any suggestions?
ive now flashed multiple roms and none are working.... any suggestions would be appreciated
You are typing your password wrong. Or restoring a bad copy of the app.

I had that happen before. I actually had to log in to Facebook from my pc, then go into my account settings and delete all of the recognized/allowed devices. I forget what section it is in, but its definitely in account settings somewhere. Maybe try that, and then try logging in again. I have no clue why it did that, but that's what I had to do.

Try going into fb on your computer and change settings so that you receive a text when attempting to log in from a new device. Then log in on you phone with your pass. You will get a notice saying unable to log in. Within a few secs you will receive a text with a pass to use instead of your normal pass. Should work it did for me.

Login Notifications: Email and text message notifications are enabled.
And i tried to login multiple times from the facebook app and sense and i got no notifications.

thanks for your suggestions everyone. I ended up fixing it by logging in with my phone number instead of my email. it then asked me to add my phone to a list of trusted devices.
Does anyone here have an exchange account on their note, and has noticed that on occasion the email and calendar apps are eating the battery?
This is the second time this has happened to me. As you'll see by my screenshot, the usage is even higher than the display and is keeping the phone awake. This happened to me this past weekend and I deleted the account and re-added it. That seemed to clear up the issue but now it's back.
Anyone else experience this?

I had the issue with email. I just went into settings and adjusted the sync schedule. I basically turned email off while I was asleep. That worked wonders for me.

This happens to me all the time. I think it is an issue that Android has when syncing to exchange servers. mine consistently will lose sync and I get repeated unable to connect messages so basically exchange just keeps the phone awake in constant attempt to sync. I've tried other email exchange apps and they work for a few days or more but then the issue starts up again. This was a problem on my epic 4g, evo4g and my Samsung intercept. I think your best bet is to do what you've been doing, monitor when your phone is acting up, remove your exchange account and add it back in again. That's pretty much what I do now. I wish sometimes that I didn't have to use my phone for work. Fyi with touchdown email clients app this has never been an issue. Try the 30 day trial. I just didn't want to spend the money on the app.

Install CPU Spy - I'll bet that you'll see it is keeping the CPU on a high speed and not entering deep sleep. Then kill the email app via the Task Manager and go back to see if that solves the CPU.

I'm assuming that you are using exchange sync'ed. I do, getting e-mail fine, calendar just isn't working. After a little google fu', there are multiple reports of the same thing. If yours is working, it maybe an exchange issue on my end then.
Sorry for hi-jacking the thread.
Thanks.

I just double checked and it says my calendar is synced with exchange. I also know that I am able to accept meeting requests from within exchange emails and it adds it to my my calendar.
Now I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I use Jorte as my main calendar which is also synced to my Google calendar.

No need to be so rude about it, cdzo72. He's new to the Android scene, apparently, so he needs patience and guidance, not animosity.
Settings => Apps => click EMail, then choose Force Stop, then Clear Cache, then Clear Data. Reboot your tablet and try again.
The other thing I would do, and this is just from experience, is set up a GMail account and import everything from your hotmail into it, and start using it. It's an easier platform to use, and also integrates flawlessly with Android, being from the same company (Google). Then again, since I loathe hotmail, it could just be bias talking.

ve6ay,
Thanks for the kindness. First off, my question related primarily to the HP Touchpad which is still on WebOS. No wonder none of this made sense. The Android suggestion may help on my second non-HP tablet which I 've only had for a couple of days.
I did not realize everything on this site had to be android related. I thought I remembered a lot of WebOS questions here when the Touchpad first came out. My bad.
cdzo72,
Sorry I bothered you. I won't post here again. Also, sorry I'm so stupid. I'll get some help.
You also might want to go into your hotmail settings and use change the impap/pop settings. Hotmail by default uses pop, try changing it to imap and the reload your email settings again on your touchpad. Also as someone mentioned , adding your hotmaail account to your gmail account makes thing even easier.
I have no idea why it would do that from within WebOS, since I haven't used the mail client there for anything but Gmail. But I agree, log into your Hotmail, and change the settings to I map. Then go into your email app, and manually add in another account, using the I map settings that they (should) offer you in the settings. I can't say where they are or what they are, since I haven't used Hotmail since the 90s.
Best of luck, mate. Don't be scared away. It is just that some new people don't bother to search. Your question is one I haven't seen yet, so it is a good one to investigate. Than, you for bringing it up.

Haxin,
Thanks for the suggestion. I got things fixed up on both tablets.
On the Android, deleting the account, clearing the cashe and data, and re-establishing the account did the trick.
On the WebOS HP unit, I deleted the account, re-booted and manually set up the Hotmail again with settings that I had Googled. All this time I was using settings that WebOS had used during an automatic set-up. I think it turned out to be a port setting and a security setting. Everything works fine now, too.
I thought it weird that both units had the same issue which is why I had originally thought it to be a Hotmail issue, not a setup issue.
Thanks again!

I'm on the latest OTA, rooted. I just deleted the problematic account and readded it, and Im not getting the error now. I'm curious if it will stay that way. I have it set to push.
EDIT.. Nope, still hosed. I guess I could set it up as a pop account
I'm not glad that this is happening to a lot of people but I'm pretty happy that is not just my phone. I thought i had to go and get a replacement after 3 factory reset with no luck. hopefully it will get fix soon.
Is it possible that the OTA actually killed the Hotmail sync? When I first got my phone, Hotmail worked beautifully with the stock Email app, for several weeks, including Push email. Then, all of a sudden it just stopped working and I got the "Sync is currently experiencing problems" message. Hasn't worked since.
Has anyone been able to make it work again?
