Microsoft Hot mail Sync - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Every time I try to sync the Microsoft hotmail on the account & sync it tells me that sync is currently experiencing problems that it will be back shortly. is this going on for anybody else or is it just me. I'm trying to sync with Microsoft hotmail not the pop3 but with the exchange. Please any help gladly appreciated.

Me too. I believe this is a common issue. I have one hotmail account that works sporadically, and one that doesn't work at all.

Had the same issue. It was so annoying I switched to the hotmail app.

Yeah, it has never worked right for me either. I was wondering if the OTA might have fixed it but haven't tried setting up the account yet. Are you on the newest version?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium

I'm on the latest OTA, rooted. I just deleted the problematic account and readded it, and Im not getting the error now. I'm curious if it will stay that way. I have it set to push.
EDIT.. Nope, still hosed. I guess I could set it up as a pop account

I'm not glad that this is happening to a lot of people but I'm pretty happy that is not just my phone. I thought i had to go and get a replacement after 3 factory reset with no luck. hopefully it will get fix soon.

Is it possible that the OTA actually killed the Hotmail sync? When I first got my phone, Hotmail worked beautifully with the stock Email app, for several weeks, including Push email. Then, all of a sudden it just stopped working and I got the "Sync is currently experiencing problems" message. Hasn't worked since.
Has anyone been able to make it work again?

Yes. It's confirmed that the stock email app doesn't push with hotmail. Download the Hotmail app from the market and you're gtg. Push on that app works great!

Exchange question

Hey all,
my mom just bought an evo 3d and is trying to get her exchange account to work on her phone. I have tried hundreds of times to set it up for her and I have made some progress. I get to the point to where it says that it is syncing but after a short time the mail app forcecloses. Has anyone else had an encounter like this. I have set up different android phones on this server before and never had an issue. I have even set up my evo on this server and it works fine. any advice?
I haven't had any difficulty setting up my exchange account. Have you tried clearing the data on the Mail app?
Im pretty confident its her exchange account. thank you for your reply.

[Q] MS Exchange stopped syncing mail folders

Started to see that my Amaze stopped syncing the inbox folders of my MS exchange account last week. I could still send e-mails, but no new e-mails were showing up in the inbox or subfolders. I deleted the account and re-created it with success, but sure enough 5 days later it stopped again. No errors. Any ideas?
Thanks
I had the same issues on all of the Android devices that I've owned (g1 > myTouch 3g slide > myTouch 4g > myTouch 4g slide > Sensation). Including my current phone, the Amaze. Either the email or calendar would stop syncing after about a week. What solved it for me was to delete the Exchange account and re-add it every time it stopped syncing.
After a while I got tired of it. So my current solution is that I use the free version of Touchdown from the Market. It comes with a 30 day trial. It works great. I figure that having to setup once a month is better than once a week.
What version of Exchange, I sync against a 2010 server and have had no issues with my amaze or the optimus-t i had before.

I'm connecting to a 2003 Exchange server. Other employees are having similar issues.

I'm connecting to Hotmail using the exchange service. I did find an error however in the accounts and sync menu, under Exchange ActiveSync, there is an exclamation point by MAIL, and at the bottom of the page, it states: "Source and destination collection IDs are identical". I googled this and looks like a bunch of people are having this issue, but I couldn't find a resolution.

if you have not, make sure your exchange admin looks into the logs on the server.
I use NitroDesk Touchdown Pro and it is the best Exchange client I've found so far. Handles email, contacts, calendar, and tasks. Worth the money IMO.

Exchange email and calendar eating battery

Does anyone here have an exchange account on their note, and has noticed that on occasion the email and calendar apps are eating the battery?
This is the second time this has happened to me. As you'll see by my screenshot, the usage is even higher than the display and is keeping the phone awake. This happened to me this past weekend and I deleted the account and re-added it. That seemed to clear up the issue but now it's back.
Anyone else experience this?

I had the issue with email. I just went into settings and adjusted the sync schedule. I basically turned email off while I was asleep. That worked wonders for me.

This happens to me all the time. I think it is an issue that Android has when syncing to exchange servers. mine consistently will lose sync and I get repeated unable to connect messages so basically exchange just keeps the phone awake in constant attempt to sync. I've tried other email exchange apps and they work for a few days or more but then the issue starts up again. This was a problem on my epic 4g, evo4g and my Samsung intercept. I think your best bet is to do what you've been doing, monitor when your phone is acting up, remove your exchange account and add it back in again. That's pretty much what I do now. I wish sometimes that I didn't have to use my phone for work. Fyi with touchdown email clients app this has never been an issue. Try the 30 day trial. I just didn't want to spend the money on the app.

Install CPU Spy - I'll bet that you'll see it is keeping the CPU on a high speed and not entering deep sleep. Then kill the email app via the Task Manager and go back to see if that solves the CPU.

1st post, hi!
So you have your calendar syncing with exchange?!? How?
I have an exchange email synced and set to push. I haven't had any issues with poor battery life or over heating of the phone.

I'm assuming that you are using exchange sync'ed. I do, getting e-mail fine, calendar just isn't working. After a little google fu', there are multiple reports of the same thing. If yours is working, it maybe an exchange issue on my end then.
Sorry for hi-jacking the thread.
Thanks.

I just double checked and it says my calendar is synced with exchange. I also know that I am able to accept meeting requests from within exchange emails and it adds it to my my calendar.
Now I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I use Jorte as my main calendar which is also synced to my Google calendar.

[Q] Exchange email stops working

Hi Guys,
Since about a week ago (XXLPH firmware), my Exchange email stopped working.
Just says Connection Error all the time.
I can wipe the email settings, then enter them again, it will connect and start downloading mail, then stops and says connection error.
My Transformer is fine with all the same settings.
I upgraded the software to XXLPQ, did a full wipe and Factory Reset and still the same.
Any ideas please?
Thanks.
Faced the same problem, reverted back to GB all is well...
Tried lot of things but didn't work with ICS using Samsung email client, although Maildroid was working fine.
Same here, but only with my work account (Exchange 2010) - works fine with my (hosted) personal Exchange account (which is on Exchange 2007 AFAIK).
It's been this way with all ICS leaks. Yesterday I thought I got it working by adding the accounts the other way around, but today I'm getting connection error again. I think it's got something to do with the Device Administrator setting, because I never get that prompt for the second account I add, whereas I'm pretty sure I did on GB.
Using Enhanced Email in the meantime which works fine, but the Samsung client has some great features

I too have the same issue - Connecting to the Exchange Server at work (Exchange 2007), I have no issue. The Exchange Server at home (2010) continually shows up with "Connection Error". XXLPH installed here too.
Me too
Been driving me crazy. I agree it seems to be about the RSA device permissions. I think I'll have to go back to GB. Dammit, I wiped everything and have wasted all of today on this ...

They say replying to yourself is the first sign of madness ...
But I wonder if Samsung will fix this before pushing out the official UK update next week.
Hmmm ... I'm surprised more people haven't reported this.
Same here. Updated yesterday to XXLPQ and have had the Connection Error ever since...

I sent a link to this thread to Samsung Support, let's see what happens...
I've been looking into this (and learning a lot about EAS at the same time) - and have narrowed it down to XXLPH not liking the security policies contained within the Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policy that is being used. trouble is, no amount of fiddling has given me a long term solution (I have got it to work for short periods of time though).
I suspect that installing an Exchange 2007 CAS in my infrastructure and pointing my Galaxy S II to that will provide a workaround - but that's hardly a long-term solution. If that works, then forcing the handset to connect using an older version of the ActiveSync protocol should also work. This may be a more achievable workaround if I can figure out how to do it!
it's also failing with gmail/google mail for apps added as an Exchange Activesync. when upgrading from GB, 1 of 2 of my gapps accounts stopped getting new mail. after a full wipe, both accounts now fail to fetch any mail or folders. logcat shows the error "Email:SecFeatureWrapper(6658): Was not initiated" while refreshing mails.
I'm having the exact same issues but for me they seem to be related to Hotmail (and it's Exchange 2003-like EAS protocol. The moment I add m.hotmail.com as an Exchange account, my other corporate and Office365 stop syncing.
The moment I remove the Hotmail account, all other Exchange accounts start working again. Very strange.
You guys added Exchange2003 or Hotmail mailboxes? I found this issue on nearly all SGS2 ICS build.. currently on LPQ.

Aha! That explains it. I couldn't figure out why everything was working tickety-boo this morning and then the Exchange (Work) stopped working. Must have been cause I added hotmail as an exchange server too.
Indeed that also explains why I thought it was working when I added the other account first - I guess it was in fact working up to the point where I added the second account ;-)

I only have Exchange 2003. It was working fine until about two weeks ago.
Trying K-9 mail now, Touchdown doesn't work either.
I've tried the exchange mail app from one of the ICS leaks. My main issue is the scheduled mail just not seem to work. For peak time I don't need push mail, only needs to check every 4 odd hours, but even though I've set it up like that it still keeps on pushing mail whenever a new email comes in.
Can anyone confirm that the email client works properly with only one account installed?
I would be happy enough to do that, and use the MS Hotmail dedicated app for my personal email if I knew it worked.
Anyone doing this?

No not even with one account.
Exchange 2010 Problem
I had this problem with an Exchange 2010 account when the email retrieval size was all works just fine on 100kb, no connection errors at all. Although Hotmail seems fine when email retrieval size is all.
I have used all ICS Beta and official ICS Versions. All Version have the Exchange Bug.

[Q] Contacts Force Close [process com.motorola.contacts]

Hi, I have a Motorla Photon 4G and I'm with Sprint if this is needed, but I tried to call someone yesterday and noticed it didn't want to and force closed. I noticed it after I was deleting a bunch of old pictures on my phone and had some applications update, and installed a new one too. It's not rooted, and I don't mess with the files internally, so what should I do? I noticed some other threads had something to do with Yahoo contacts or something like that, but I don't meddle with Yahoo at all on my phone, or on the computer.
My brother and sister both have the same phone too, and they don't get this problem.
Thanks.
Back up all data and try a factory reset.

Same problem here Dean.
Let me know if you find a solution.
The new update from the Hotmail app to Outlook did the same to me. Once I uninstalled Hotmail, my contacts came back.
Thanks for saving me from factory reset
