Phone wont reboot - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I am running community rom 1.3. My phone shut off and I pulled the battery. All it does know is show the battery charging icon when I try turning it on. it wont even show the Samsung logo. What could have happened here?

Can you go into recovery and reboot from there?
Keep me Fascinated.

Nay. It keeps showing a battery charging

I'm sure that you have given it more than a few seconds before giving up on it booting. If the battery ever gets to dead it will not boot until it gets back up to a certain charge. But assuming you have let it sit for a while on charge before trying to power it up you may have a issue.
If thats the case then try getting into recovery with the battery removed. Than start fresh from there.

Sorry I meant to try to get into download mode not recovery without the battery if the problem doesn't go away after some time charging.

Its not on a charger

Of you know the battery isn't dead and your still stuck on the recharge stage then try starting fresh. Pull the battery and leave it out, odin back to stock. Replace battery and see if the problem persist

[Q] comrom 2.0 and 2.1 Fascinate wont charge when off

How can I fix this besides not turning the phone off to charge and keeping my fingers crossed that the battery wont go to zero and then I wont be able to charge battery?
4) what is your *specific* problem...not "omgz ma ****z be borked yo"...that helps no one and frankly is annoying to see...
When phone is turned off, I plug in charger get grey battery on screen with progession symbol but battery does not turn green. The phone actually locks up when power cord is plugged in and is stuck with the grey battery with progression symbol. Upon unplugging phone, grey battery symbol remains and I can not power phone up. Have to do a battery pull to restart phone. I went back to stock and went back to ED04 and this does not happen. Only with comrom 2.0 and now 2.1.Yes I have tried it with a different modem via odin and also flashed via CWM. Yes I have cleaned USB on phone aned chargers. Yes I have tried different chargers as well. I have a spare and the original. I have tried to charge it on laptop, desktop and wall outlet.I love this rom it makes my phone perfect. I hope you guys can figure out whats the cause of this issue cause I cant do stock froyo....lol ..no really I cant deal with its lameness!! SAVE ME!
1) post your exact setup (version of com rom, kernel, voltage settings, any other mods you did flash)
com rom 2.1
coming from com rom 2.0 - cr20_nomodem_nuts_shark odin -This version contains no modem/radio and imnuts' 05/31 PBJ -50mv nonvoodoo kernel
baseband ed04
build number ed01
2) did you wipe data/cache/davlik cache before flashing the rom
package did that in odin
3) what rom/setup did you flash com rom over
flashed 2.1 over 2.0
odin'd 2.0 over stock verizon froyo
5) ive said this 500 times already, but hey whats once more LOGCAT!!!!:

Are you using the miui lock screen?
good day.
The battery stays on screen after unplugging?

Hello and thank you for replying and trying to help me figure this out. This occurs with or without lockscreens. I have used the MIUI screen but again as I said it will happen regardless of lockscreen.

Hello and thanks for replying. Yes the battery, grey with progression symbol stays on screen once unplugged. The phone is turned off, I plug in power cord, get the grey battery with progression symbol. Unplkug phone, still has grey battery symbol. Attempt to turn on phone, nothing. In order to power up, I have to do a battery pull. The screen essentially locks up once phone is off and power cord plugs in.
fixed!!
Thanks to JaeKar99!!! He did a brief review of my logcat and had me check some things but the final solution was changing kernel. Had to go from imnuts pbj to comavolt. Once that was done powered off phone, plugged in, and GREEN BATTERY! Thank you and hope this can help anyone else who has that issue.
Good to find this, I was having the same issue, was driving me up the wall as my kid had played one of his games on my phone and ran it down so far that it would nearly not power up. I had just enough juice to power it up, and get it plugged in and charging before it nearly shut off.

Can't get past the motorola screen

I'm having an issue with my phone when the battery dies completely. I'm running Eclipse V0.6. When my battery gets down to 5% if shuts itself off like the battery is completely dead. When I plug it in and try to power it back on it gets to the Motorola screen and just sits there and wont go further. This happens no matter if its plugged into my laptop, jeep, ac charger, whatever. The only way to get past this point is to take my battery to Verizon and have them put the battery in a demo phone to charge it. When the battery has juice it powers up with no issues.
Can someone, running eclipse v0.6, try to let their phone die then see if it will power up when its plugged in? I want to see if its just my phone or what.
Edit: this is the second time this has happened. So I dont think its a fluke.
Do you have recovery mode still one? Go into fangs bootstrap and switch it back to charge mode.
The problem os that the phone will not charge during recovery(or so I have seen), because it hijacks the charge mode.
Hopefully this works for you.

problem is I can't get into the OS at all. cant get past the moto screen so theres no way to change the boot strap. only thing I can think is to get a secondary battery.
Try remove sd card, worked for me when that happened.

fixed it. removed the battery, plugged in the phone to the ac charger, before it started to boot I held vol down and power and got it into fast boot. from there booted into stock recovery and put the battery back in. then I simply rebooted from stock recovery and it worked.

[Q] Stuck in a bootloop with Siyan 3.0.1

Okay guys and guyettes, I flashed the Siyah 3.0.1 kernel to my lovely S2 but my battery died overnight and now the darned thing won't boot. Due to an issue with the kernel, it automatically tries to boot when the phone is plugged in to charge, but not having enough power to boot up the thing dies and tries again. Continuously. It won't go to recovery mode and if I try to launch download mode it tells me it can't because of the low battery and then starts bootlooping again. Please please help, I've been without my phone for a day and I'm away from home with limited internet access so I REALLY NEED IT D:
pull out the battery keep sometime out, and put back and leave it for 1-2 hours for charging....then boot and restore your previouse kernel
I've tried leaving the battery out overnight, but whenever I put it in and try to charge it just does the same thing. Automatically tries to turn on, doesn't have enough power to power on, shuts down, and tries again :-/
You need a new charger battery or find some way of charging your battery outside of the phone.

Did you use SetCPU or Voltage Settings app to tweak with the frequencies/voltages? Theres a high chance that the Siyah you flashed doesn't support the frequency you have on your device. Id tell you to go into that app and restore defaults.
I was on NEAK before and flashed Siyah on top of it and it constantly kept rebooting and then i realized that if you get constant reboots, they mention to play with the voltage settings.
Try it out, maybe lower it from 1200Hz to 1000Hz being the max.
Let me know if it helps!
Happened to me once when I let battery run down too much. I left it charging in bootloop for a while, then unplugged charger, boot the phone, and replugged charger.
Well that was the issue of the kernel but it was solved later. For ur problem try to charge ur battery using master charger. Also try to go to recovery mode while charging and charge for a while and reboot ur phone.

I've left it "charging" in bootloop overnight but it still won't turn on enough to set it charging properly :-( it also won't enter recovery mode so I can't leave it charging at that. My housemate back home has an S2 so it looks like I'm stuck without a phone until I can get back and borrow his phone to charge my own :-/
Hmmm. This is a long shot, but try this: plug the phone in. Then, while it is booting and the phone is still plugged in, take the battery out. (this used to work with my old Motorola Milestone - it would stay on even when the battery was out)
If it stays on, put the battery back in and hope for the best. Otherwise, you'll need to either acquire an external battery charger, or wait til you can borrow your buddy's phone to charge your battery.
Plese change such headings.....
A request to the members to change such headings...which directly give a bad impression of a product wich is an outcome of very hardwork of some dedicated devs....this may be only your case with Siyah kernel which might be a result of your earlier config, whereas thousands of users are using the same flowlessly....
thank you

[Q] DNA boots to recovery, battery dies, reboots to recovery

So I'll start off by saying I'm on Cyanogenmod 11.0 12/15 nightly, running CWM 6.0.4.5, and crpalmers kernel for nightlies 5.2.11.
While trying to take a picture today my phone turned off (had 50% battery left) and would not turn back on. When I plugged it into power it took a little while to power on, as if the battery was dead. When it finally turned on it booted to recovery, stayed on for a bit then turned off before I could do anything. When it restarted again I tried to re-install the rom but it died again before it could start. So i figured i would just keep it turned off and let it charge. As soon as I plug it in, it boots. Plug it into the computer, same thing. Any ideas???
Update: So I found a more powerful charger, 1150mV over a 1000mV, and that was enough to keep the screen on and charge the battery enough to let the phone boot normally. But now the phone only stays on for about 20 min before it reboots. Still not sure whats going on but atleast it boots.
Sounds like a bad battery to me.

Once I let the battery charge fully I just returned back to stock. The how-to is in the forum some where, I can find it later but I'm on my way out the door. As of right now I'm s-off but completely stock and seems to be working fine. Maybe try a different kernel first and see if that helps.

[Q] Galaxy Player 5.0 Battery Loop

I've been trying to find a definitive answer on this and did several searches of the forum. I found one issue which was similar here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2413998 but, am not sure if it is really the same thing.
My battery has 100% drained on my Galaxy Player 5.0 . I am running a 4.3 ROM and Kernel, though I can't remember which off the top of my head.
Whenever my Galaxy Player is fully drained or is turned off, I cannot charge it properly through USB. I get a clocking/refresh screen, a white empty battery and then the system restarts and the same process starts over again. This has happened no matter which kernel or ROM I have used in the past as well, and only goes away when using the factory default ROM and Kernel. This loop happens regardless of using the wall charger or just the USB wire to computer.
I have tried timing the removal of the USB cable between the loops to get the device booted up but, when the battery is dead there is not usually enough juice to jump-start the player. The only way to fix it is to let the thing sit for hours and hours and hope that maybe the battery has somehow managed to get enough charge despite the looping.
Whenever the Galaxy Player is in this dead battery or powered off loop you can't get into download or recovery. Luckily, if the device is just turned off and still has battery power you can just remove the USB and turn it on. This obviously does not work when the battery is dead.
The biggest problem is not when the device is powered off but, when the battery is dead. It is nearly impossible to charge through the constant loop.
So, I have a couple of questions:
Has anyone come up with a definitive way to get out of these kind of loops other than installing the factory standard ROM/Kernal?
Is this something that has been fixed in any of the 4.4 kernels or roms?
That sounds really bad man I don't know if that's odd internal problems with your Galaxy Player or something
Sent from my YP-G70 using XDA Free mobile app
Well, I was able to get it working after plugging it in to a wall charger and some luck. However, it still doesn't explain why the looping happens whenever the device is off and the USB is plugged in instead of just charging. It also doesn't explain why when the battery dies and I plug it in, it loops instead of charging.

Try to change to rjs kernel if u have stock kernel.

This is why you don't let the battery drain 100%.
