Give him a break
He is obviously frustrated, to add to his woes, English does not seem like his first language and he is having trouble explaining his issues and understanding what people are trying to tell him. (I draw this conclusion because he keeps trying to activate phone in sprint zone even when he is not in US and many others telling him not to do so )
The only thing I am afraid is that he is going to end up killing his phone.
Ha...finally something to liven up these photon forums...and yes as well

this is a good idea
You've got to give the guy a little break. His main issue arises from the fact that he is in Israel which has a very unusual wireless situation (particularly for an Eastern hemisphere country). Israel has a mix of CDMA and GSM providers. So while others here, say in Italy, have been complaining that in MR5, even if they have the network mode setup to GSM/UMTS only, their phone still tries to find a CDMA signal - annoying but not fatal as it will eventually give up and lock onto a GSM signal after say five or ten minutes of trying to find CDMA. In Israel, because there actually is a CDMA (850Mhz) network, it will actually find and lock onto it and given that his phone has not been 'activated' with Sprint, it won't roam on that network, neither will it register onto his desired GSM network (since it found a CDMA one first). I can see how that would be rather frustrating, given that his phone is rendered useless by the unit not honoring his network mode selection to GSM-only in the settings.

Actually same is the case with many other Asian countries.
Here in India too we have mix of CDMA and GSM and Photon does find the local CDMA network and tries to register on them and also finds the roaming enabled local CDMA network.
There are easy solutions to it. (How to avoid handsfree registration on every boot and avoid long startup scan )
They have been posted right here in this section.
There are ways to avoid the repeated Sprint Scan on boot as well. : : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238928
That guy's main problem is that he is not even looking at the solutions posted here. And he is not able to understand that he should not even try to register phone with sprint. Neither should he be messing with Sprint Zone.
His WiFi woes are totally different problem. It might as well be combination of bad flash / dud phone and his language barrier.
He is quick to open new threads in wrong forum and calling others wrong when they are just trying to help him by giving possible solutions, but he does not read what has been posted already in other threads and guides. Or he is not able to understand it.

cheers to beers
hey i had the same problem, but on the GSM Evo 3D and i did tons of reading on here and came across this in the GSM development (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208485) i hope this helps and maybe the have a similar thing in the CDMA section.
hi just purchased a Verizon Droid Razr XT912 off ebay
the seller said that he hasnt paid the bill so the phone is likely to be having a bad ESN and wont work with VZN , ( i guess am fine with that )
I intended to ship the Phone to India
wanted to ask ,
1..... if this phone uses the normal sims or it uses the micro sims like those in iphones
2..... also I am sure if on ICS it can be used with any GSM operator worlwdie both for voice and data ? I hope its true
3..... my third question would be Camn it be used with a CDMA OMH sim as well , which are available there in India ?
4..... I hope the battery backup is decent on this phone ( especially when GSM radio will be used )
5..... what is the easiest method to root this phone ( does the rooting differ if you are using the cdma or gsm radio )
would b grateful for the help
Regards
someone !! anyone ?
for rooting:

it is from us cellular if you ask me its the s3 mini anyways itsa cdma phone that has a sim slot which has a card in it for us ceullar. now im confused the phone specs say its cdma only but with a sim card that makes me t hink its gsm global(locked to any us gsm providers im sure) and cdma so I would assume it will work with say cricket wireless.
I am leaving u ceulluar and would like to use the phone with c ricket wireless and being its a cdma phone im surei could it is just that sim card confused me.
I know on phone in past cricket can take your imei i think it is and use a tool over the phone to convert it to propperly work on their network.
So basically anyone know if this phone can be used with cricket? is it locked? do I ahve to flash it. if the gsm part is locked that wont matter since i will only be ising the cdma part. here is the link to the phone on us cellular
http://www.uscellular.com/uscellula...tandard&device-category=device-category-phone
Edited: The sim card has your programing for CDMA & 4g/LTE access. Just took mine out and it has zero service without it. I would guess as long as you put it in another compatible phone you would get service.
Hoping someone will figure out a simple rooting method, but doesn't appear there is a lot of interest yet.

Thanks but nah not what I was wanting, i wanted to be able to use the phone on cricket but since they dont use sim cards since their phones are cdma was why I was confused that this one has a card since usually only GSM phones use those. so im guessing I wont be able to use it on their network if they added it..I know they can convert certain imei's over the phone with a tool they ahve with cricket support but have not tried that yet.

So, just wondering, would the Samsung Axiom work on T-Mobile or AT&T ?
yes and no
The R830 by U.S cellular is a CDMA phone. now ah days having a sim card slot does not symply mean its GSM ....TMobile....GSM ALL DAY. ATT GSM all day. Vzw,sprint, uscellular...CDMA. the Sim card in question is a 4glite. it controls the 4g side and basically activates the phone upon new activation. the question is: WELL THIS PHONE WORK ON CRICKET? Answer...yes...I put one on Pageplus by just activatiing the imei and then OTA...but I'm having trouble with the DAta side... cant get data or MMS (picture messaging) to work..talk and texts works fine.....Now im on to figuring out how to get this thing into DiagMode without rooting it Oh yeah.....try activating your Imei on cricket and then star code it. . if it asks you to press 1 or 2 but you dont see a keyboard,....thats okay...just let the lady run her mouth until the music starts playing....when its done the phone will restart and you'll have talk and text

No, your phone will not work on either. The sim slot in question is for 4glte, all 4g phones will have this sim slot. A GSM sim will not provide any functionality at all.

Was anyone got success in enabling the data ???
I've never flashed a phone to a different CDMA provider so I thought I'd ask here first and see if anyone had knowledge of how to do this? Or point me in the right direction to somewhere to learn how to? I've unlocked the GSM radio for use on att already and I'm sure it's a similar procedure, but I followed a guide to do this and have little experience with it. Thanks in advance to anyone that has information on this.

Also, how did you go about unlocking your phone? If you unlocked the gsm attenna. I assume that the phone is fully unlocked and you should just be able to switch it over. As long as it isn't on another account I.e. Verizon.

The CDMA providers blacklist phones from being used on other CDMA providers networks. "Flashing" in this sense is stealing and ESN/IMEI from an existing phone and cloning it to your phone. Not only is it extremely risky for your hardware, it is extremely against the law and cannot be discussed on these forums.
Certain phones like the Rezound and the Dinc4G have additional feature of GSM radios added for compatibility with oversea networks, you aren't really flashing anything so much as the phone reconfigures itself for GSM or CDMA depending on what kind of SIM card it finds.

Umm. Not true at all actually. I had a P+ dealer switch over my phone with a bad esn (mother in law didnt pah her bill) and they didn't use a "friend" phone. It doesn't require stealing a phones imei or anything it requires a lot of work to port it to a different carrier, but doesn't require anything illegal. Not to mention what you're talking about is also based on the staye you are in. In the states it js legal as long as you aren't copying two have two phones on one service and is completely legal ( state dependant) if you own both phones. Check your facts.

as far as using it on gsm networks, yeah its possible you just need to either do some things (I could dig up a link if you want) on stock and have it kinda work, or find a rom that supports it and flash that (recommended, what i'm gonna be doing). and flashing phones to other networks i am pretty sure is illegal, i know from experience, i tried to work that out on xda and they sent me away saying this isnt a topic allowed of these forums, so if you still want to know about carrier flashing i suggest another forum
but anyways just making sure i am following you right, you want to gsm unlock but want to use it on virgin mobile (a CDMA network?)

It should be possible, I've gotten as far as getting the NV values on both radios, but it seems as the 9k wants to search for signal on 800mhz only, at least according to DFS.
The Thunderbolt is able to get 3g working on Boost/VM/etc. at least from what I've seen. Considering the similarity between it and the Rezound I was hoping it would be easier...

Flashing phones to different networks aren't illegal. It is a state dependant thing. I went and had my note 2 flashed over at a business in the middle of a bestbuy, guitar center, more big businesses. (Aka, big businesses near ~ not a shady place)
Yes, I know that Virgin Mobile is CDMA. I wanted to know how to unlock the GSM antenna purely for education purposes.

It is easy, but only to people that already know how to do it. The process is similar for most phones and doesn't require a lot, but most that try to do it dont know what they're doing and it takes them forever. What we need is a good electrical engineer.

Quick update:
The Rezound can work on Sprint-based towers, at least with leaked global (4.03) and stock global (4.05) radios. It took me couple of days of fidding via DFS, but right now I do have 3G working, albeit with the stock ROM complaining that mobile data isn't working. Trying out couple of ROMs to see which ones is usable.
Most important thing is that the 8K radio needs to be set to NV_ONLY but that 9K can be set to RUIM preferred. Also, flashing the firmware (from the recent 4.05 global update) will reset the 8K radio to RUIM, which is a good thing/bad thing. Good thing is that if you ever want to NV reset (since hard resets do not seem to wipe NV), flashing the latest firmware/radio should get you back to RUIM/stock PRL/blanked #. Bad thing is you need to fiddle with some of the settings in DFS again, but at least it's only for the 8K radio so far.
Another thing that probably made it work was to use the same PRL from the phone Sprint thinks you are using. For me this was the 61009 PRL. Profile info only needs to get stuck into the 9K radio and I don't think you really need to bother with the NAM2 stuff. But again, I've done too many fiddling to be able to say for certain.
