[Q] Difference between cm7 7.03 nd 7.1.0 - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

could someone pls tell me the difference, i am unsure about flashing this rom that just started i just want to know the changes please nd thankyou

One of the biggest differences is that CM 7.1.0 is based on Android 2.3.4 and CM 7.0.3 is based on Android 2.3.3 (or 2.3.2, not sure). The differences aren't that big, but it does mean that you MUST do a clean install when upgrading to 7.1.0. If you don't want to go through that process, then there's no rush to upgrade.
Also keep in mind this is only the first release candidate, not the final 7.1.0 version.
There's a changelog if you scroll down a bit on this page: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_vendor_cyanogen/blob/gingerbread/CHANGELOG.mkdn

[Q] Stable Gingerbread ROMS

Can anyone tell me if there is a Gingerbread ROM that is stable enough for everyday use? If there is, then can you send me a link to the thread.
maybe you can read this for help

Another good resource is the sticky at the top of this forum. In it, there's a link to the 2.3 Gingerbread roms:

Honestly if you want close to 100% functionality, stick with Froyo. I am currently using CM 6.1.3 v54 and even with my standard battery can get by over 2 days.

You also get to install the latest baseband. Let SE come out with the stable Gingerbread and then get the custom gingerbread then.

[Q] What is the most complete and stable custom Rom?

I've had my streak since launch which is pretty much a year now and I've been looking to take the plunge and smack a nice custom ROM on my streak.
Of course I want gingerbread etc but my problem is that there seems to be a distinct lack of Custom ROMs being finished.
It used to be the case on a phone that there would be great stable ROMs with incremental updates to fix little annoyances here and there, but all of these custom ROMs have massive flaws and there's so many of them being pumped out e.g "streakdroid" which is over version 2 now and still has major problems?
Can someone please point me in the direction of a nice stable custom rom?
thanks
there's only two gingerbread roms
i dont know which is most stable as i dont use either

The most stable Gingerbread ROM for the Streak is Streakdroid 2.3. It's still not stable, though, because Dell never released any firmware other than an Alpha release of Kernel code for 2.3. They have since discontinued the device which means there are only a handful of devs left here to finish an entire ROM, not just make it better.
If you want a totally stable release you're going to have to go with a 2.2 ROM, and they still aren't totally stable. Try StreakDroid 1.9.1 or SimpleStreak 1.2 (Not really a custom ROM, more of just a parred down version of stock ROM)
Questions or Problems Should Not Be Posted in the Development Forum
Please Post in the Correct Forums and Read THIS
Moving to Q&A
the most recommended rom is froyo stock
SimpleStreak then install what you want.
Didn't think it was worthy of starting a new thread.
What is the most stable 2.2 or 2.3 ROM right now.
I don't need anything fancy. Just want something that is debloated and quick and stable. Needs to be at least 2.2.
New to Streak 5, just trying to help out my Mom with a phone for her.
Edit, n/m. I broke the Streak due to the stupid battery cover/reboot issue. Bought a Samsung Infuse instead. Will put the Streak on eBay in as-is condition noting what happened.
I've tried just about every custom Rom out there and handsdown DSC is the most stable rom i've used so far, Miui was good but the battery life just killed it for me.
DSC
DSC 1.0v \m/is the most stable among StreakDroid5-2.0 slow in my streak, miui restart often, Longhorn 2.5 FCing.

[q] cyanogenmod 7.1 info

Hi guys, i'm using KI8 stock with siyah 1.8 right now, and it looks like one of the best configuration for galaxy S2.
Anyway, i'm very interested about trying the famous cyanogenmod 7.1 stable, and i just want to have some judgement about it...it's faster and more battery safe than a stock? it's the best?
[NIGHTLY][ROM][GWK74] CyanogenMod 7 (w/ Gingerbread 2.3.7) for Galaxy SII Q&A contains 6,602 posts relating to CyanogenMod, or since you mention 7.1 "stable" (it was later changed to RC1), [ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for the Samsung Galaxy S II :: V7.1.0 RC1 (9 Oct 2011).
There is no stable release. There is a lot of issues and you should really wait and go with MIUI or one of the modded samsung roms for now

Wrong. There is a stable release, and you can download it from the link posted above. Also, it's not full of bugs, but if you're going to try it, I suggest you go for the latest nightly; it should have more fixes than the stable build. However, it's an experimental build, so be prepared for weird things. I'm using it since a long time, and it's really stable on my phone.
Also, learn to f***ing post in the right thread

Which is based on CM7 and therefore would contain most if not all of the same "issues".
in the cyanogenmod official page the rom it's called "stable"...and anyway i think MIUI has more issues than CGM...

difference between cm9 and ICS RC4.2

hey im sure this has been answered before but i couldnt find anything was wondering what the difference was between the two.. im stuck inbetween the two and dont know which to choose plz and thank you
You probably mean "icssgs release 4.2".
The icssgs rom, by Onecosmic and others, is very explicitly built from the basic android code, AOSP. it does not and will not have the many CM improvements.
The Passion rom and the CM9 kang are based on the Cyanogenmod 9 codebase and so will have CM features as they get ported from CM 7 to CM 9.

Why we donot have miui roms based on android 2.3.7

Why no developer working on MIUI Rom based on Gingerbread 2.3.7 since Android 4.0 based roms still not fully working due absence of drivers.Such as the MIUI 2.4 ,it is stable than ics and MIUI V4.
Because if you look in the developer forums, there is no 2.3.7 release for our device. Highest and most recent version of android is 2.3.5 Gingerbread.
Besides that, we have no direct kernel access, so we currently can't have a full ICS experience.
Because upstream MIUI has moved on from CM7 and the CM9 we have is definitely stable enough to use.
If you want one, make one! That's what I did.
