I reviewed all the threads but can't resolve the information I need to plan next step!
I want to revert back to stock since I am experiencing battery drain (I believe).
I did not root or unlock before using the OTG (thumbdrive) method for insrtalling the OTA 4.5.91 zip.
After finding out that was ill advised I did not unlock and left unrooted. I have been out of town and can't backtrack throught the threads to determine what is the best course.
Is there a concise thread for my situation?
Thanks in advance
If you want to confirm your status, please adb, su, and "cat /sys/firmware/fuse/ReservedOdm" or just open the file in Root Explorer. If you see something like:
10000000000010001000300004000
Then you should NOT SBF anything from Motorola"
If you want to post your ReservedOdm to look and see if you will be fine to SBF 1.83 again
Probably you are safe if you actually installed Kenth by CDW or moto-fastboot (boot.img and system.img)
But if you actually run the update.zip or any update trought the normal android recovery screen and if you saw the following legend "updating AP20 bootloader" in that case you CAN NOT flash any SBF from Motorola

I am on KP's 4.5.91 beta 3...........When I look at this file I have :
10000000000010001000100004000
Now KP's version of 4.5.91 is supposed to be safe to flash back and go ahead with Moto updates. If I follow what you are saying, it cannot be done?

ok here it is:
10000000000010001000100004000
4= BL "unlock" did you ever unlock you BL with pudding?
0= BL lock
10000000000010001000100004000
1=NO UPDATE BL TO AP20 Ver. , so you applied GB by moto-fastboot process or by CDW
3=YOU HAVE A NEW BL AP20 Ver., so you indeed applied GB OTA by Android Recovery from the sdcard
so in other words the ones we are in "confirmed" brick land if we RSD any MOTOROLA SBF are the ones with "3"
So you seem you indeed apply unlock bootloader (please confirm?) but you never applied GB OTA by Android Recover update.zip, and as you already confirm you applied GB Kenneth version by CDW or moto-fastboot.

Status
1. Locked and rooted phone
2. I ran 1.2.6 sbf with RSD to return to a stock build
3. I unrooted phone
4. I ran OTA 1.8.3
5. I ran the Motorola Build 4.5.91 "not KP's" with Motorola cable from update.zip through USB flash drive
6. "Stopped Here" this is my current state
Unfortunately I did not use KP's version, and I don't know how to check for blown fuses since I haven't rooted and did not flash pudding "stopped after flashing OTA for fear of bricking" . I believe I have read that some have installed pudding from my current state to with a recoverable softbrick and then used fast booted flashing img of 1.8.3.
can anybody verify doing this safely? Sorry if this thread is repetitive but there is much confusion in here and I was gone two days from the forum when this all was taking place.
Much appreciated.
JiminSD I recommend you to root first by preinstall method first so you can check first the "fuses" to make sure how to proceed. To do the root you DO NOT need to be "unlock". If you need help just tell and I can guide you for the root process

Yes, I unlocked with pudding following the instructions here ---> http://briefmobile.com/how-to-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader, and yes I did flash KP's 4.5.91 and not the OTA.
Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated!
So you are in the group of the lucky ones that actually can RSD "full" 1.83 or 1.57
The only thing you will lost the tag "unlocked" at the startup, so to get it back just RSD pudding again
I think you are asking this to return you phone to "stock" to be able to received the official OTA from moto/att right?

I am thinking about it, but I may let some other brave souls try first, as I believe it will cause the issues the current leaked OTA has caused. My phone runs great at the moment on KP's 4.5.91.
Prior to this, I flashed back a couple of times on 4.1.83 and did what you said to get "unlocked" back on my boot screen. I think everyone is more or less worried about what the actual release version of GB might do if you are unlocked already.
I am in same situation as OP. From private discussions and reading different threads it seems that I can go from stock 2.3.4 OTA (no mods) with a locked bootloader to anything if I just use the small unlock/pudding followed by fastboot unlock commands and fastboot install cwm....then fruitcakes or any rom should be good to go. But im waiting for GB to go fully public....just gonna enjoy 2.3.4 for now until everything is all sorted out.

Agree. I think the first things to do when the real OTA is out is actually compare with the leak one, so at least we have an idea how to proceed.
Good Luck!

Sorry but this is NOT TRUE:
"I can go from stock 2.3.4 OTA (no mods) with a locked bootloader to anything "
Anything in this case mean: NEED TO UNLOCK BL, NEED TO APPLIED ANY ROM BY CWM OR MOTO-FASTBOOT WAY
But here it is the CONs: UNTIL TODAY IF YOU APPLIED THE LEAK STOCK GB YOU CAN NOT RSD ANY MOTOROLA SBF, THAT MEAN INCLUDED GB SBF BECAUSE IS NOT OUT THERE YET, SO YOU NEVER WILL GET BACT TO "REAL" STOCK OR BE SURE 100% YOU CAN RECEIVED IN THE FUTURE ANY OTA DIRECTLY FROM MOTO/ATT IS NOT BEEN TESTED YET

Good clarification mrramirez.
My bad...should not have carelessly said "any". If ur on OTA 2.3.4 just stay put, and stay away from moto sbf

Thanks to all my question has been answered. I will stay put and not install any sbf's regardless of source until the new OTA is studied by developers.
can i flash back to stock 4.5.91 to to unroot the phone. do i just put the .zip on my sd card and flash using clockworkmod
also curious
Same question.
I was previously on GB that was pushed to me OTA. I got bored and rooted, unlocked, and flashed Ken's Alien not thinking about the consequences of not being able to revert to stock thanks to previous root methods like Gingerblur and SBF that made it so easy. I want to get my work email back on my phone, but cannot if I am rooted.
Will flashing a 1.8.3 Fruitcake and then OTA to GB brick me? I've looked everywhere and am still noobiously confused.
Anyone know how to unroot w/unlocked bootloader? Is it possible?

"GB that was pushed to me OTA" so you are indeed has the new bootloader so you only way to downgrade will be moto-flash or CWM to 1.83
But why you dont try to download MOTO official SBF 2.3.4/4.5.91 and RSD this the only OFFICIAL MOTO SBF you can RSD with GB new bootloader
the following procedure will bring you device to out-of-the-box state with GB 2.3.4/4.5.91
First have a backup because you phone will be complete clean after this so remove external sd card
1. First format internal sdcard by settings->storage->internal sdcard->format
2. Turn off the phone and press VOL DOWN while your turn ON your phone
3. Wait until "fastboot" tag show up release VOL DOWN and now PRESS VOL UP once to enter to fastboot
4. Now you in fastboot mode "Starting fastboot......."
5. Now go to command windows box (CMD)
(You need moto-fastboot to perform this and you need to be in the same folder where is located moto-fastboot)
moto-fastboot erase boot
moto-fastboot erase system
moto-fastboot erase webtop
moto-fastboot erase recovery
moto-fastboot erase userdata
moto-fastboot erase cache
moto-fastboot erase preinstall
just to make sure everythings is wipe
moto-fastboot -w
after this
moto-fastboot reboot (at the same time press VOL UP and hold until show up "Starting RSD......"
Now start RSD and select the official moto GB 2.3.4/4.5.91 SBF (you can find a copy in dev forum, stickie under the thread of all the SBF's, make sure you chose 2.3.4/4.5.91)
Press start and what until reboot and RSD show up PASS in the status...
This the manual way to do it... and you are 100% you wipe everything...
The other one is doing MSU (motorola software update) and run all the process (in the background what it do is RSD the service SBF of GB 2.3.4/4.5.91) after it finish you can go back an do a factory default restore, inside settings in Android OS
Thanks. I thought about using moto software update, but wasn't sure if it would work. Same with RSD. I just don't wanna brick, but since I won't be RSD downgrading I probably shouldn't be all that worried.

This is the only SBF without pudding and MOTOROLA OFFICIAL that can be flashed by RSD for now if you already have GB OTA

CONFIRMED, IS SAFE TO RSD THIS SPECIFIC SBF FROM MOTOROLA:

Does this go for stock locked bootloaders as well. You mentioned you were unlocked. All that I have done on my atrix is root currently. Not to crazy to unlock yet. I'm on the OTA 4.5.91. Have alot of random reboot issues lately and considering this process!
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the info. I used your fastboot wipe and RSD'd suggeations to SBF. Now my phone appears to be stock. It no longer says unlocked at boot and is not rooted. Exactly what I was looking for.
My first try of using the 183 fruitcake and then OTA update didn't work due to CWM still being there. It may have worked if I had first flashed the stock recovery. I didn't try that.
Thanks again for your assistance!

If you previously installed the OTA update, it should be fine to flash this if locked as well. Its just installing the same software but without root.
The problems after the OTA update happen if you flash a SBF older than gingerbread.
It was the unlocked part of my situation that had me concerned. I haven't messed with bootloaders until this week and was confused and nervous about how that would come into play. If I hadn't unlocked, I wouldn't have hesitated as much to flash the official GB SBF to unroot.

I installed the Bell Gingerbread OTA update and not I have the Fastboot menu on the phone boot.
It does not say that the phone is unlocked.
Do I have an unlocked bootloader? Do I need to do something else to get it unlocked (IHOP?)? Is there a guide for it?
If there isn't unlocked on the startup, the bootloader doesn't unlocked.
Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
The Gingerbread update only gives you "Gingerbread". You still need to manually use IHOP to unlock the Bootloader...

my phone B/L is already unlocked. Will it be safe to flash this ROM via SD card?
Hi. I was wondering if it would be possible to flash the stock bootloader via RSDLite on top of a custom ROM?
Thanks.
Edit: JUST the bootloader. Keeping everything else intact.
I was thinking of taking the stock 4.5.141 sbf and with portable sbf tool removing all the rows, keeping the ones that correspond with the ones in the pudding sbf. What do you think?

UPDATE:
Ok. So I managed to extract the stock BL. It flashed OK, but I got Failed to boot 2 with CM7.2. Flashed pudding back, and it was fine. Guess custom ROMs need Unlocked BL to boot.
Quick question.. After rooting and unlocking the photon bootloader and flashing roms I sbfed back to stock ... Yesterday I decided to root and go back and try some flashing again.. I rooted and flashed the 1mb sbf and when my phone started to reboot it said it was unlocked. :what:
I thought when you flash the sbf back to stock unroot that it locks the bootloader and you have to flash the OEM unlock method again... Well anyway I'm rooted unlocked and running Miui 2.6.1 aroma rom without having to go through the flash OEM unlock process, just flashed the 1meg sbf.. Is this right

No you only OEM Unlock once. After that all you need to unlock is flash the pudding unlocker (the 1mb sbf).
