Well currently I'm using MiniCm7 pro V21 rom and using stock kernel.
I go to setting>CM settings>Performance>CPU setting and ticked OverClock.
Whenever I try to overclock my phone over 600mhz,for example: I set the phone to overclock to 652mhz, return to home, and then I go to setting again, it revert back to 600mhz itself
Why is that? Is it because I'm using stock kernel?
Can't overclock in MiniCm7 v20 pro rom
I have the same problem, when i choose more than 600mhz, then it will ben chosen automaticly 600mhz, could anyone help us ?
i'm using cm7 v20
I had the same problem, I don't remember what I did but you can try maybe installing SetCPU? Or you can go bottom on Settings>...>CPU Settings and tick "Set on Boot", then turning off the decive just after that.
Just an advice, don't OC it to 748+, just leave it at 748. Why? Because, if more than that, my phone gets unstable and it reboots after a few minutes. Just happens to me, I don't know about others.

Hi, Jericho4869
I tried many custom roms. almost all version of MiniCM7pro too.
And I'm not sure about which version, but early versions of MiniCM7pro was I can over clocked.
But I can't over clock on after v15 of MiniCM7pro.
What's the differences between the both ?
So I got some idea, it's a modules, specifically differences of x8oc.ko and x10minioc.ko I think...
>x8oc.ko is a can over clock without problems but if not set over clock to make device to slow down and lag coming up.
(So when I was not use over clock, I did delete or rename x8oc.ko fot the save performances of device)
>x10minioc.ko is a difficult to over clock on some device but if not use over clock but no adverse effects to processing speed.
It's can not o.c setting to enable or over 710 mhz to get unstable or shutdown or freeze and restart, it has many cases on my U20i
Anyway, I can't over clock over 710 mhz on MiniCM7pro v21 and MiniCM'9'Pro v1.2 (based on MiniCM7pro v21) both too, because the both use x10minioc.ko for over clocking.
My opinion is: If you want to try over clocking, you should to be choose another roms with custom kernels !!
However now I'm using ZombiePanic kernel and I choosing custom roms conditional on it's supported custom kernels. Because no problems for testing o.c.
IMPORTANT NOTES: (I know, maybe you already to know)
If you want to try to over clock, please you don't try on main device !!
If in case of under 710 mhz but it is get a alot of load on cpu of your device.
keep on over clock in long time is a serious risk of failure to your device !!
its not possible to overclock in minicm7pro. u can if u flash simple kernel. it has inbuilt oc modules. so try it!
Hi gang,
Is there any stable bug free oc kernel available for our galaxy ace running on cm7.1?
I tried blackhawk kernel last night. However had issues with superuser, wifi and ext4 partitions.
Please help with links if u know of any such kernel.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi @Nisha...
I have used both of @ketuts OC kernels without issue... "Blackhawk" kernel is reported to be the most stable, however I find that I get the same stable environment using the original OC kernel & a higher clock speed (check my sig for details).
Here is the link for the Original OC Kernel (@[email protected]) : http://www.mediafire.com/?yb4g7mzgysc36bw
Flash this using CWM5 preferably & vital if you are running CM7.2 builds or you may encounter issues after flashing...
The changes in the new "Blackhawk" kernel are quite extensive. They involve a complete Backport of the GPU driver to a better performing driver, Framework modifications & a complete re-write of the kernel source code... The down side of this new kernel is that @ketut has now limited the OC frequencies to a max of 902mhz... This is one of the reasons why I am still using the original kernel over the new one... I have got 921mhz stable which is higher than the new kernel will allow, so using the new kernel would be counter productive from my perspective...
Give this kernel a run & see how you go...
FYI : Make sure that you update CWM to v5. Contrary to a few reports, this CWM is stable... I have used it for the last 3 months, all options & functions work correctly & I have had absolutely "No" issues... It is also needed to correctly flash the new roms (7.2 etc.)
Stay Breezy n Be Lucky...
Pe"ACE"...
Thanks reaper, can u plz help me with two more things
1) link to stable blackhawk kernel. I am currently using zimage kernel. And no offence to developer but it sucks sometimes. Cant really see any cpu freq being used between min and max cpu freq.
2)link to cwm5.
Many thanks in advance dear.

I was wondering which kernel was the best to use? I do not want to install a custom rom but have a CWM just to add the MODS and such. My choices so far are the:
FXP Kernel
Rage Kernel
X Kernel
Kamrush Kernel
Bbooff Kernel
Can anyone tell me which ones saves the most battery and the fastest? Thanks

As for the fastest Rage kernel supports upto 2Ghz Overclocking, however it's not advisable to scale the processor that high. You can scale upto 1.6Ghz safely though, and there is a version available which can scale safely to 1.6Ghz.
As for battery endurance, you know overclocking and battery life don't go hand in hand. However you can try several CPU governors. Here is an excellent guide

Sorry man, can't post links yet.
Maybe you should choose boff kernel, since it only add root and cwm. If you dont need overclock and other things

X kernel supports also til 2Ghz.
My opinion, is that X kernel has more modifications to make it better than Rage Kernel.
Sent from my WT19i using xda premium
I have used all those kernel you mentioned, but x kernel is awesome.
Kamrush Kernel is really good
I tried bbooff then rage and then x.
Went back to rage.
Hybroman v16 was released, flashed back x.
Never changed it since...
curently using rage kernel. I wil try x too.
bboof + hybrom this simple rom minimalis
X kernel is really good, less than 1% battery per hour, overclock, governors, schedulers, everything working
Krsh kernel is really good, less than 1% battery per hour, overclock, governors, schedulers, everything working
I really couldn't find a difference between those two kernels, X kernel is more recent, since kamarush is now doing ICS (and he's doing an excellent job )
bboof is really good, less than 1% battery per hour, everything working
pretty much stock, only allows root, cwm, etc. very good choice for hybrom. might be best for people who don't like to go too much into technical details
I'll go for Kamarush Kernel or Rage Kernel on stock ROM..
or else if u use Custom ROM like Hybrom, or sumthing else, just follow the suggested kernel there..for example i'll use Bbooff Kernel for Hybrom, and Kamarush Kernel for MiniCMSandwich..
Hello! I thinking about rom and kernel for my neo but... i cant find good combo. One kernel can OC my cpu to 1.8GHz but next crashing phone on 1.8GHz, some roms aren't stable. What rom + kernel you prefer?

Welcome to XDA, I see you are new, but here on XDA "best" threads are found useless, as everyone have different opinion on best rom/kernel.
You will find best rom/kernel, by simply trying them out and finding which one best suits your needs.
Usually, people can help you if you specify what exactly you need from rom/kernel and by that I don't mean " I need it fast/stable" kind of specification
Oh and yes, 1.8GHz is a bit to much for this phone, just for your information 1.4GHz was sometime useful but 1.8GHz..no point really.

Since you are new, If you want to go with the jellybean then I personally have used Super JellyBean 8(details about which kernal to use are mentioned in the thread) which is good and stable..but there are so many good roms out there... You may try them as per your requirements
Hope this answers your question.

Hi there. I think that CyanogenMod 11 from LegacyXperia Project is one of the best ROMs and I advise you to use it with Dark Kernel.
Also I prefer using Android 2.3 because it's faster. One of my favorite ROMs is Gin2KitKat.
Hi guys,
Really thx to the Z for CM11 I've couple of questions.
1st-)
Do we have an GPU/CPU Overclock kernel like CM10.1, or How can I do it myself if possible? or anyone working on it? also can I use one from CM10.1? (but probably kernel is out dated)
I think it had 1200mhz on 1175mv and 400mhz on GPU if not 500 I think it was 400.
2nd-)
I think we do not have any CM12 besides Mokee (which stopped) and I've heard Z is working on it, is it right?
I really need an OC kernel or a Tutorial to edit and replace kernel, I'll use values from CM10.1 kernel or even old Faust kernels.

looks thank you for opening this topic also have this doubt about overclock A4G because it is already a little slow with freq stock , more would be sensational if there was any work of a cm12.1 or cm13 of daily use for our device
THX Sorry my bad english
