Hi, i am getting my transformer soon (i hope) and i would like to know your opinion on those screen protectors, i seen a lot of skinomi and clear freak thread but i am also wondering about the price, those 2 turn around 20 bucks each and im used to (12$ for 2 realooks protectors (for a phone though)) and i seen a couple of threads of people scratching the skinomi when trying to install it.. so i were wondering:
Is the +/- 20$ price is the price for those screen protector or are they gonna go down? (early adopter fee?)
I am really scared of a wet application method, is there dry screen protector out there?
Does any of you actually know if zagg or realook intend to release screen protectors for the transformer?
And finally, is there another tablet out there with the EXACT dimension for a screen protector (seen a couple for the iconia here and there but none for the transformer....)
Thanks a lot!
Funny you should ask, I just posted this in the other skinomi thread
If you're looking for anti-glare I'd go with ViewGuard. It's a hard plastic and thicker than the wet application options. I have one on my laptop and it dramatically reduces the reflectiveness and it hasn't reduced the touch sensitivity on it at all. It's what I plan on getting for mine when it gets here. Yes, I have a mutli-touch capacitive screen on my laptop.
Ok,does the dimension fit the transformer ?(or a little bigger?)
just get my eeepad, I know the case/sleeve is required, do I really need a screen protector?
tks

Now we have to find the size that will fit th TF, even though the screen is 8.5 X 5.5 the glass is 10X7. The closest size they list is for 12.1 4X3 aspect @ 9.72 X 7.28 which would have to be trimmed. I contacted them about custom sizes.

Yes. A good screen guard not only protects your glass from getting scratched but also reduces glare and even provide better tactile touch. I love how my BSE skins feel. Very smooth and soft and not slippery (not everybody likes it though). Oh, and you can use your hand or sleeves to wipe the screen without fear
BSE offers DIY sizes, 12x14" is about $15 + shipping (buy 3 and shipping is free I think). I've already emailed them to see if they will have Transformer kits soon.

How does your BSE handle the glare and fingerprints? How did you trim it?

I just measured the dimensions of the screen and used a razor to cut the BSE piece. I haven't used it outside yet so not sure about glare, but fingerprints are a-ok, as in they don't show up at all
I got the skinomi silver carbon fiber full protector today
and simply loving the design.
I am not sure how the screen is yet since I am waiting for it to dry
but i'll play with it when it does and see how it is and let you know what I think.
I'll also try to get some pictures up.
just want to interject a quick fact here, you guys know that the TF uses Gorilla glass right? it doesn't need a screen protector (at least for protection anyway) ... anything that can scratch gorilla glass would not be prevented by any screen protector you can get.

Gorilla Glass is only scratch resistant, not scratch proof. It can still scratch.

gorilla glass does scratch. my dell streak has gorilla glass and i've got a small scrath on it. it's just harder to scratch than normal glass.
also screen protectors are good to stop fingerprints and some decrease the friction; so easier swiping across the screen which is good for playing games. btw zagg invisible shields increase friction.

Hey all...does the transformer dock to the keyboard correctly with the skins / screen protectors?
When I put the skinomi skin on my Galaxy Tab I experienced problems docking it to the HDMI stand/dock...
Anyone with input please advise...
Just a heads up for those planning on using the dock keyboard...
Thanks

NO problems with the dock. It's tighter but still slips in.
I don't understand people's argument that Gorilla glass does not require a screen protector... there are numerous reasons to get a screen protector despite scratches. It feels differently, it reduces glare and fingerprints etc. I am happy I got one!
Found one on xoskins.com ......anybody have any experience with their products ?
I've been waiting forever because I love SteinHeil (sgpstore) screen protectors so much and I want something like that, instead of the wet application screen protectors. Help me find one pleease!
I have Skinomi & you can barely tell its on there. Plus, since it is a wet apply, I wasn't punished when I messed up the first time.
I have a clear B&E for sale if anyone is interested. Brand new, never used. PM me.
I just found a screen protector from lexard (think I spelled that wrong). Does anybody have experience with this company or know if this protector is any good?

I'm really starting to hate the texture of the Skinomi screen protector. It's slightly tacky and makes tracing kind of annoying. It's also not very durable on it's own and while acting as a buffer, it's prone to it's own nicks far more than thinker matte protectors I've used.

Has anyone purchased a good dry application screen protector? I am looking for one that is anti-glare (matte) that has a good feel to it and covers the entire front face of the Transformer. If you have an EVO like I do, I am looking for something similar to the Sprint EVO screen protectors. Anything like this out there?
TIA

Thanks just took a look at it. Does this apply with the "two pull" method? Just made that up but, its the type of application wear you take off the backing, place the protector on the screen and then pull off the front. Hope that makes sense.
I know what you mean. It does. Pull one side and place it on the screen. Pull the other tab when done.

You have the dock too right? Any problems with wear on the screen protector where it rubs when inserting/removing the tablet?

Do you use the Ultra Fine or Ultra Crystal? If it's the Ultra Fine, how does the matte finish affect the clarity and brightness when compared to having no screen protector or a clear one? Also, does it affect viewing angles at all?

I just received my Ultra Fine a few days ago; It really is extremely fingerprint resistant and smooth to swipe on which is great.
Clarity/brightness is noticably reduced vs a clear / no screen protector, but it doesn't lower the image quality like some matte screen protectors (Brando) so I'm quite happy with it. Viewing angles seems about the same.
When I first applied the protector I did have a few fairly big bubbles I couldn't quite remove using the supplied squiggie, but after leaving the TF overnight most of the air bubbles disappeared themselves.

Sweet...thanks for the review.
I know I've seen a side by side comparison and they look like the screens as the same exact size/aspect ratio...any confirmation? Just don't want to order a protector that doesn't fit heh.

The TF101 ones won't fit of course...
The screen (display + glass coated bezels) has a different size on the TF201, so the protector won't fit.
Just wait until there are special prime protectors out there
Skinomi has screen protectors for the Prime available through Amazon.
I'm updating the original post because I have now received and applied this screen protector. You can see the photos and my comments here:
https://plus.google.com/photos/105537586944716449433/albums/5696831693307582225
Overall, it's pretty darn good. The fingerprint problem is practically non-existent now and the Prime's screen brightness more than makes up for the slight reduction in sharpness the anti-glare screen causes - even on Auto-Adjust Brightness. I can attest to the fact, that with some care and warm soapy water, the screen are removable and reusable. And they're pretty cheap to buy on Amazon.
Some small complaints:
* The punchouts for the camera and light sensor are completely punched out and more that one person will mess up their install trying to remove them. Even after installation they are a bit unsightly.
* The was no cardboard applicator despite what the instructions say but I didn't use one anyway. And the included lint free cloth frays at the edges with some use and leaves particles behind. Try a coffee filter instead.
* It's likely you will have one side that doesn't quite adhere to the screen along the edge if you handle it from that edge. This can cause you to inadvertantly unpeel the screen from time to time. But I've had that with every screen protector I've had what isn't part of a cover.
If you have any questions ask away and I will try to help.

I dont but one of the biggest gripes i have right now (and mirrored by others) is the insatiable appetite this screen has for finger prints. And the glossiness.
I want a matte finish so i can see it clearly outside and not worry about blinding myself or anyone ....Can anyone who has put on matte screen protectors chime in on how happy they were...if the colors were muted too much (yes, glossy = gorgeous) and if the tacileness changed when sliding fingers?
While I have never personally used a matte screen protector, the general consensus is that they do dull the screen a bit and the texture a bit.

My boyfriend bought this same protector for his TF101 (although it was a 1-pack, not a 3-pack) and he's still happy with it. I personally think that the antiglare protectors make the screen look cheap and plasticky and would rather wipe off prints than have my screen look less clear, so I buy the crystal-clear ones (I have an order from the same company on Amazon for the crystal 3-pack).
Like a lot of you, though, he wanted to reduce glare and prints so it has worked well for him. He had a very problematic application but in a three-pack you get more tries, and all of the bubbles except for one or two settled out over time. The included stylus is a piece of junk.

Thanks for this, this has been popping up all over the place. While I appreciate the time and effort that went into this guide, half the stuff needs to be removed as its for the original transformer and could easily confuse someone.
for people who have it, how is the texture? my biggest gripe with screen protectors (next to the fact that i can never get them on clean with no bubbles) is that they have a more sticky texture compared to bare glass.
the coating on the prime's screen makes fingerprint cleaning super easy though for what it's worth.

To me, the TF101 one (the matte one) feels like the LCD screen of my laptop, the several-generations-ago Macbook Pro. Non-glossy, a little plasticky but not grippy/a problem for swiping a finger.

While that is true, I'll gladly trade some brightness for the matte smooth non-sticky texture and anti-glare.

Doesn't release til the 6th. I ordered one too, I'll update as to how well also. P.S. Skinomi's dry install screen protector is effin garbage...
I've used both on other devices. The matte skin does dull things up a bit, but if you want anti-glare that is the only solution you have. It also helps with finger prints a little. The clear, is just a screen protector which you will still get the glare and some finger prints. It just boils down to preference. I happen to HATE glare, so I usually stick with the matte. I'll just increase brightness by one notch and I'll be fine.
This screen protector seems to be in stock now on Amazon, anyone receive theirs yet??
I'm still hesitant to order one but I want to get rid of these damn fingerprints

In Codyco's defense... You do get really annoying with that. If you're going to be that repetitive about it, make sure it's a damnedly good formatted post, and right now it's not.
As for the OP. I had a Steinheill (SGP) antiglare/matte screen protector on my Samsung GT10.1 and I LOVED it.
I read my text books on my tablet so I am reading on it more than I am consuming video, and I could absolutely not stand at the glare on the screen. The screen protector even let me read the tablet outside without staring at the trees and their leaves behind me.
That being said, there was a slight degradation in screen quality but the antiglare tradeoff made it *much* more than worth it. Plus it makes swiping across the screen buttery smooth. However, that was a top quality screen protector. Ymmv with a cheaper brand.
I utterly cannot get the people who lambast them, as they have to deal with ridiculous amounts of reflections.

I have no personal experience with the Skinomi. Bodyguardz was big in the screen protector world when the Palm Pre came out, which is how I originally discovered them. Also used their screen protector on my Evo.
Their warranty has always been good, and they ship pretty quick.
