Anybody understand Samsung firmware version? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

When I plug my Galaxy Ace to Kies it says there is a new firmware:
Current firmware version: PDA:KB4 / PHONE:KA6 / CSC:KB3 (NEE)
Lates firmware version: PDA:KC2 / PHONE:KB1 / CSC:KB6 (NEE)
How can I see what this new firmware is?

well B<C, A<B and 3<6
this would be froyo 2.2.1 and should be from around 2011 March 19 to 2011 March 30 (dates of KC1 and KC3 according to samfirmware.com)

It means your Brazil/Argentina firmware does not have an official update yet. If you want to change to a non-official stock firmware, everything you need is here: Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH1/2/3/4, KI1/2/3/4/8, KJ1/2 Download.
BTW, that thread implies your firmware should be 2.3.4.

[Q] New Firmware

I got my S II with custom MIUI ROM. Then I downloaded and flashed with Odin stock 4.0.3. ROM. Everything was OK, then it updated over WiFi to 4.0.4 and installed some other updates and this is what I got on my phone now.
after dialing *#1234#:
VERSION
PDA : I9100XWLPX
PHONE : I9100XXLQ6
CSC : I9100NEELP5
Build info : Wed Aug 29 13:25:19 KST 2012
(and 1st phone screenshot current info)
Today I updated Kies on PC to latest version, plugged in my phone and got message that there is new firmware.
(2nd screenshot on PC)
When I try update over WiFi I get no new updates available...
According to SamMobile Firmware page this update is 4.0.3 (http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9100&pcode=NEE&os=1&type=1#firmware)
Nordic countries ------- 2012 October ------- 4.0.3 ------- I9100XWLPY ------- I9100NEELP6 ------- Download ------- Unlock ------- Info
Why does it want me to downgrade?
So should I update or not?
It does not want you to downgrade. The only difference between the 2 firmwares is the csc version.
your current version is csc LP5 NEE.
updated version on kies csc LP6 NEE.
apprently kies version has a newer csc.
1. will it remain on current 4.0.4 version?
2. will this process of updateing CSC delete everything (factory reset)?
3. should I do it ?
Thanks.
sorry i missed one other peice of information.
It will be upgraded to XWLPY which is newer then XWLPX.

[Q] New Device. Kies Not Showing FW Info.

Hi,
I am fairly new to smart phone development so please go easy on me this time
First, some info on my environment:
MacBook Pro
Mac OS X 10.7.5
Samsung GT-I9100
No SIM card installed yet
Samsung Kies 2.0.0.12095_7
Model Number: GT-I9100
Adroid Version: 4.0.3
Baseband Version: I9100UHLPE
Kernel Version: 3.0.15-I9100UHLPE-CL200654 [email protected] #3
Build Number: IML74K.UHLPE
Location: Eastern Standard Time, USA
So, my Samsung i9100 arrived this week from NewEgg.com. I was surprised it came installed with Adroid Version 4.0.3. Then I read that Samsung recently released 4.0.4 so I installed Kies, hoping to upgrade to 4.0.4.
In Kies, under Firmware Information, I see the following:
This is the latest firmware.
Current firmware version: PDA:LPE / PHONE:LPE / CSC:LPE(TTT)
Latest firmware version: PDA:LPE / PHONE:LPE / CSC:LPE(TTT)
I read that the firmware version can also be obtained by opening the dial pad and typing *#1234# So I did that and found this:
PDA: I9100UHLPE
PHONE: I9100UHLPE
CSC: I9100UUBLPE
Build Info: Fri Mar 9 13:49:34 KST 2012
Now I am confused:
1.) Did my phone arrive from NewEgg with an official Samsung Android version?
2.) Why is Kies not displaying the firmware version and how can I fix it?
3.) Assuming I get Kies fixed, lets say I want to wipe my phone, start from scratch, and install the official Samsung version of 4.0.4 Is that possible and how?
4.) Any other recommendations?
Thanks for your help!

New update to Android

Today I get a message on my screen that there was a new update. I clicked install and the phone turned off and installed the update with the little android man on the screen. When it was finished (about 5-7 minutes) the phone booted back up.
The phone is running much faster and smother but the android version is still 4.1.1 ????
Anyone know what this update was for. I can't find any update log to see what was done to the phone.
This might be wrong, but i heard there was a small update to give true 64gb microcd support, that is being rolled out.

There was an update for Indian S III firmwares today, and it is 4.1.1.
Don't worry about it.

LK1 was the new firmware released for India. But the baseband varies, though...

thats because you're on a BTU / KOR firmware.
OP is probably on one of the branded firmwares that just got XXDLK1
diference in Europa Baseband Version
I see a diference from country to country i Europa Baseband Version:
I Update with OTA
Mobile: Samsung Galaxy S3
Model No: GT-I9300
Android Version: 4.1.1
Baseband Version: I9300BUDLI2 <-----> My Location: Spain Vodafone
member jetpack101:
