Its been a while since Ive seen a list of everyones daily ROM. There are so many new ROMs available, it would be good to see what ROM/Bootloader everyone is on. Im currently on VEGAn 5.1.1, and I hope to be on BL1.2 HoneyComb real soon. Please post yours.
Bootloaders
1.1 - 3
1.2 - 6
ROMs
VEGAn 5.1.1 - 1
Culkulin+Clemsyn Froyo Combo - 2
Honeycomb Combo 6.0 - 1
CM7.03 - 1
Bottle of Smoke - 1
Vegan Ginger - 1
Brilliant Corners - 2
Calkulin+Clemsyn 1.5ghz Froyo Combo V6 BL1.2
Screaming fast, OC to 1.5ghz (goodintentions recommends pulling that back a bit, but I haven't seen any stability or battery drain issues). It's TNT based, so you get some tablet oriented features that vegan is missing (Better notifications IMO, better combo-box display).
Running the alpha 6.0 honeycomb combo. I was on vegan and loved it. Tried this hc version and I'm considering retuning to vegan until hc reaches beta.
Sent from my Bottle of Smoke using XDA Premium App
Bootloader = 1.1
Rom = CM7.03-stable
BL1.1 with Vegan Ginger ...now that we have a fix for Netflix and Hulu on this great ROM I don't ever see me needing to switch.
Bottle of Smoke 5.2 for several weeks now, but I'm unsatisfied. I love the Honeycomb experience and I'm reluctant to give up the GMail, Newsr and News360 apps, but I miss the days of Calkulin/Clemsyn combo speed and stability.
Trying out Flashback today and if that doesn't prove more stable than BoS, I think I might bite the bullet and roll back to C&C 1.2 combo or Brilliant Corners.
BL 1.2
Calk/Clem v6
Bootloader = 1.2
Rom = Brilliant Corners
It works and thus I am pretty happy with it. I might change the rom one day in the future but for now I am staying put.
I keep coming back to Brilliant Corners (BL1.2). It's stable, fast, and "everything works".

I am expecting my G-TAB on Thursday, and am trying to do all the research I can to hit the ground running. I am on the fence when it comes to which ROM to install. I'm debating on three.
TNT 4.4.0
G-Harmony Gingerbread 2.3.3 with Honeycomb elements
VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition - Experimentals (VEGAn-7-03082011-Experimental)
Does anyone have opinions on these ROM's? I know the Gingerbread ones are experimental, but I was wondering just how stable they are?
Advice?
Thanks!
-J
I use TNT Lite 4.4.0 because it seemed the easiest to install and I love it. I have thought about trying Vegan but why bother if I am already happy. I have had zero problems with it aside from a few random apps not working. The only thing I wish it had was a swipe keyboard but alas...
I am using VEGAn 5.1.1 and love it. It's really snappy. I haven't changed the Kernal yet but may try that later this week, but not sure what that will really buy me as I very happy with it's performance and usability.
I have tried VEGAn 5.1.1, VEGAn 7, Corwins tweaked CM7 and the CM7 with tablet tweaks. Currently running the CM7 tablet tweaked rom and its very fast and stable. All Gapps working fine on it. VEGAn 7 has some problems last time I used it, but if gojimi releases another version I'll probably try it.
I like the various tweaks built in with the CM7, which is why I am partial to those roms. VEGAn 5.1.1 was excellent while I was running it, and the only reason I switched was to try out something new!
Just trying to decide the best.
I use Calkulin's. Super fast and like the overall feel and look.
The Vegan 7 Gingerbread Experimental is the best rom I've used. I added the tegra2 market fix (another thread). It doesn't score as well in Quadrant as Calkulin's ROM+Clemsyn's Kernel combo (1800ish vs 2200ish) but the performance is definitely acceptable. I've noticed slight jerking in some higher-resolution flash videos but not in those which seem to be more standard res. I don't play back much non-flash video, so I don't know the full effects of not having an Nvidia hardware accellerated driver. I didn't find any fault with Calkulin+Clemsyn, but in terms of out-of-box polish, Vegan 7 beats it hands down.
I'm very satisfied with the quality of the Vegan 7 Experimental ROM, it is superb. I love the default apps installed (especially the terminal!) and the ATL/launcher. I may try to make a custom version at some point with a Froyo kernel & accelerated driver for the ultimate experience.
The best
I've loaded many of the most popular roms and I would have to say that overall I think Calkulin's ROM+Clemsyn's Kernel combo is the fastest and cleanest one. Everything I use runs well and I have no complaints. That said, Vegan 5 and TNT Lite 4.4 also run very well but for me Calkulin is king.
VEGAns
I use VEGAn 5.1 and it was so fast that i decided never to switch ROM anymore... until yesterday when they came up with the new VEGAn Ginger edition, which is as fast or even faster. Not to mention the sweet new design
I switched to that, and again said i will never switch again
So i suggest go with VEGAn... u won't be disappointed
I have VeGAN Tab 5.1.1...better than the new Vegan Gingerbread update. No problems at all.
What do you think is the best rom/ theme in our opinions and why?
Keep the speed, looks, features, etc. in mind!
Thanks.
I've landed on Calkulin+Clemsyn 1.5ghz Froyo Combo VERSION 6 (1.2 Boot Loader)
It's overclocked to 1.5ghz and runs smoother than anything I've played with yet. It's based on the stock rom but obviously modified to remove the crap. The stock rom has some nice features which you miss out on when moving to a more phone oriented version of froyo or ginger. Little things like the way combo boxes display on websites...
The battery life is surprisingly good. Feels as good as Vegan or TNT Lite to me, and I haven't yet delved into undervolting.
I've used every rom out there except the honeycomb ones. I am currently using vegan ginger oc to 1.2ghz. That said, the one that has the best performance has to be calkulin+clemsyn oc to 1.2ghz hands down.
I say 1.2 ghz instead of 1.5ghz is because I'm putting into account the battery performance. Calkulin's rom is already really really fast without oc. Everything about it is just smooth as hell. In fact, I think I'll go back to calkulin+clemsyn oc combo later this week. For me, performance beats the latest and greatest.
well thanks a bunch guys guess thats how I'm starting off once i root this baby
Any themes to lay accross it?
I've tried all of them 1.1 and 1.2 opted for Beasty's ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1084573). I recently tried G-Harmony Gingerbread 2.3.4 but it seemed slow and experienced unexpected FCs but the potential for USB GPS use forces me to keep an eye on that release. Until then, I'll stick with Beasty's ROM.
I've been patiently waiting for a reasonable Honeycomb ROM like everyone else here seems to be. Tried to get Illuminated, but the WiFi never worked for me, no matter what fixes I tried. I ended up (happily) with Bottle of Smoke 4.1 which still has a few minor issues, but it is a welcome change from the stock Tap-N-Taps I have been living with. Now that Viewsonic has clearly abandoned us, I fealt it was due time to hit the Custom ROMs and for now BoS is acceptable for my everyday use. (Fixes will come in time)
raskell, I, too, have been interested in the Illuminate ROM and was close to giving it a spin tonight but the feedback I've read gave me enough reason to hang tight with Beasty. It does seem the HC choices are getting more and more stable, though. The community effort for this is unreal.
Hey everyone I am currently running GtabComb 3.1 and enjoying it, but am just curious if there are people that have ran both FB 5.4 and GTabComb 3.1 and which you prefer. Is one actually better than the other? Are they the same as far as features? Do they have the same quality of video playback even though hardware acceleration is not in either as far as I know. Just kinda curious.
On the Honeycomb side of things, I've only used BoS and FB (also used froyo/gingerbread based ROMs, but they don't feel "right" after using HC). Currently, I'm using FB 5.4 and am very pleased with it; I may give GtabComb a try tomorrow and then give you my impressions.
To me honeycomb is honeycomb they both have their pros and cons.
although i do really like gtabcomb too
The latest port from the Adam/Vega devs is Adamcomb 0.2 and it does run on the Gtab if you are on BL 1.2. Zhyong has taken that port and made BL 1.1 and 1.2 Gtab versions which use Pershoot's kernel, allowing you to overclock and most likely fixing the GSensor. His is called GTabComb and I personally run that now. I used assorted versions of Bottle Of Smoke but Roebeet is on summer holiday. Plus some GTabs suffer sleep of death on BL 1.2 roms using Pershoot's kernel because of undervolting, and mine is one of them, so I like that Zhyong has a BL 1.1 version that is in every other way identical.
So long as Zhyong keeps up with the Adamcomb versions and puts them out for BL 1.1 and 1.2, I'll probably stick with that.

+1 .....
+10 for GtabComb

+1 for gtabcomb, especially if your running a 1.1 BL, I've had some negative experiences with the 1.2 stuff and really like the 1.1 stuff with cwm better.
+2 for gtabcomb too, excellent rom, using 1.2bl with no issues
Sent from my GtabComb
Running 5.4 and its been great!
Its holding me over until the next gen of tablet software is released.
The G Tab is the little tablet that could... Its a shame the world has dismissed it.
Been running Flashback. Solid ROM, responsive, fast, I haven't had any issues with it
I have tried FlashBack, BoS, and GTabComb on 1.2. All three are done well and worked for.
GtabComb has been the best performer with the least amount of issues for me. I have been on it the longest at this point.
Once HW Acceleration and Flash is completely fixed I will be extremely happy. I use mine for business so the HW Acceleration is not super important, but I still want it. I can get around flash by using Opera for now.
GtabComb here and it works great. It has replaced my planner at work. Happy that bluetooth is back in b3.2.
+1 for gtabcomb, running for a few days now and love it
Oddly enough gtabcomb is hugely popular on xda while its all about FB on slatedroid. Anyways, this is not authoritative but my two cents goes towards gtabcomb and specifically I used 3.2 in comparison with FB5.5. Gtabcomb is quicker/snappier from what I could see, and even dealt with program crashes a lot better. When games or programs crashed, at least I cold exit to home page. For my Feb experience, it was 85% hard reboot in these situations. Both are great devs but tlbardelljr rolls out updates quicker. If you ever get past the ooohhhs and ahhhhhs of HC, you'll see the infancy of it and the plagues of slowdowns, DC and every game shutting off on you within 15 minutes of play even off the cleanest of installs.
I have tryed all the HC ROMs and I concider them all very good I am currently on GTAB combo 3.3 and it runns very fast and I have not had any problems
all hc roms are almost same
I have used BoS, FB and Gtabcomb, along with my own customizations specifically on lowmem settings, mount options and init.rc. I really felt there were only minor differences. If you unzip the files of each of these roms, and do a "diff -r --brief", you will know what are those differences. Only a handful of files are different, really. So if you want you can pick and pock the goods from each.
As somebody else in this forum mentioned no two persons will like the same exact kind of combinations on a rom. When I get some time I could document my changes and release that doc.
I like the philosophy of some rom developers, who keep the base system image same, and then release deltas on top of that (delete some files from base, and add some other files to base). Irrespective of what I like, all these developers are doing a great job, and I cannot forget that they are taking slots from their personal time to do this.
I bought a gtab for my son back in January and, with the help of this forum, rooted it and installed the vegan-tab 5.1.1. Sin then it has been the perfect little tab for him (and me). Is it worth looking into the HC roms now available. I would have to upgrade the boot loader as well but it looks like there are plenty of helpfull instructions on the forum to help me with that. I guess the question is are the HC roms that much better than the nicely running Vegan-Tab we are using right now?

It's not even close. Once you install HC you'll wonder what took you so long.
Calk Clem V6 Overclocked to 1.5ghz is still the best daily driver imo. It's froyo based and is just too fast and stable for me to move on from.
GtabComb runs on either BL.
I've tried pretty much all of the roms available for the gtab. While I like the look and feel of the HC roms, I tend to go back to Froyo or Gingerbread as they are more stable and run properly. Check into apps that you want to run and whether Flash is important to you.
Flashlight is a new one for me as of tonight and seems fast without issue with any apps yet. Beastrom is one of my favorites.

I like the HW acceleration in 2.2 but people over on Slate droid are making a HW accelerated HC port.
If you want a working camera and good general performance, then Calk Clem V6 Overclocked to 1.5ghz is a good choice, I run VEGanTAB 7.1 BL 1.2 Overclocked to 1.5ghz with working camera, latest ADW EX, Adobe flash and market. Both are super fast and UI similar to Froyo. I personally prefer the old UI over HC.
