Anyone elses memory cards **** themselves? - HTC EVO 3D

Patriot 16gb class 10.
Have had zero problems since last friday.
Sitting here at work and i notice out of the corner of my eye that it restarts itself randomly. I leave it alone to finish up some other work and i notice my backround has changed(from black). Go into gallery....Every photo i have taken since friday(about 60) is now gone. Nothing else. Just the pictures taken with the HTC camera app. Vignette pictures are still there....
I searched around but havent found anyone else that had these issues. Curious though.

2. Patriot is known for having substandard memory products. Your problem likely exists because of the card, not the phone.

1. Sorry for the language. There were alot of good pictures this weekend from a Brazilian party(could imagine all the 3d goodness from that) and others. I was pissy to say the least lol.
2. Never heard of it before. I had one in my 4G for about 5 months before it was stolen and i never once had a problem. Win some loose some i guess.
Running "TheRealSync" app now that automatically syncs to my dropbox once a day. I was hoping lookout would copy the .mpo extension but it only does picture extensions.

Patriot is ok but their build quality ain't Sandisk. I've had Patriots break on me, especially their SDHC cards. However, this sounds more like it's a China made fake microSD. By chance did you buy it from eBay?

8GB Card Availability - Accurate Information from Sandisk

I spoke with a high level manager at Sandisk US today regarding a project I am involved with that utilizes micro sdhc cards. The project requires as much memory as possible and I asked them when the 8GB would be available for testing and for purchase.
I was told that testing units to qualified partners would be available in Q4 of this year with full production around the beginning of 2008.
Any other information you get from a possible seller is suspect and should be viewed as inaccurate.
Unfortunately this will keep the cost of the 4GB high until 2008.

I kind of doubt it since I was speaking with the OEM Marketing Manager and the Sales group for Sandisk USA in California. Maybe things are different in Europe but this is the company line in the states.
Also, keep in mind that I wasn't calling as a consumer, but rather as a potential OEM partner so I have no reason to doubt their word and they have no reason to screw with me.
I have been using an 8GB MICRO SD for about 2 weeks. A lady friend in Germany sent it to me to borrow. It works perfectly with the rom on my Hermes: HTC_TyTN_WWE_3.54.255.3_6275_1.48.00.10_108
I am not able to tell others what I dont know but what I do know is the company who produce the version I am messing about with produce internal components and similar to Nokia. The card simply has a code on it with the number 8 at the end. It also works in my Card reader through windows XP. It recognizes it on the laptop too.
Point is that it is 8GB.
I will be glad when I can get a hold of a released version as it may not be the fastest at copying to and from via the PC but it is great to be able to store more films and music.
I meant by pulling you leg, that there are several others from what I can gather who are about to release the 8GB and above over the coming weeks and it may pay you to look further than Sandisk is you are in a hurry.
I fully understood the angle you were trying to explain and realized you meant you were chatting to them as a non consumer.(a potential OEM partner)
UPDATED: The "8" is NOT an "8" it is a "symbol" that looks like half a "B" with a line protruding through it. It means nothing to me as I have no idea what it stands for. The code looks like "Be33-f" what ever that means. Maybe someone can add some light on it. I have a feeling it is simply a code and thats it.

Hmmmm, very interesting.
So it sounds like you have a pre-production piece from whomever. The poeople at Sandisk seemed to indicate that there were some in the hands of the phone OEM's already but they didn't offer any hope of me getting one. The quantity my program needs is in the hundreds, the phone people are talking in the 10's of thousands. I'm just a small **** to them...
Not a bad idea for me to look else where. Maybe Kingston, A-Data or PNY...
Enjoy your 8GB, the rest of us are green with envy...

I just hope the new 8Gb cards wont have a negative impact on the transfer rates.
While you're waiting for your 8GB chips, I've noticed a few online retailers taking pre-orders for 6GB microSDHCs -- at least one says they'll be available as of Aug. 23.

Hi 3waygeek,
Thanks for the info. Any idea who those retailers are?
I have a call scheduled with the N.E. rep for Sandisk later today. Maybe he can do something for me.
BLT and PCSuperStore both say they'll have them on the 23rd.
8gb Problems...!!!!
Update on 8GB Micro SD Card.
I have been using an 8GB Micro SD card for a while now and was more than happy with the results. Up until 17th (Fri) everything was fine. But I am adding this post to let others know that the card and phone no longer work together. The point is, I cannot access the card from my Hermes any longer. Its DOES however show up perfectly ok from the Card reader on the PC. Resco Explorer and the MS built in Explorer does NOT pick the card up. I have no idea what is going on. I have reformatted the card and also reinstalled after formating the Hermes the rom I have been using. Nothing has worked. My 4GB card works perfectly ok so it is definitely something to do with the Hermes not being able to work with the 8GB Card.
I'm in a rush so forgive the quick post to the thread. Just adding my notes to anyone who is thinking of going along the same route, as I have concerns now about the 8GB working reliably with the Hermes I have. It may well be the Rom I am using? I am not able to put another rom on my phone at the mo due to other commitments.
Hmmmm...
I too wonder what happened? What ROM are you using? Did you add/delete any apps prior to the problem? Crashes/lockups within 24 hours? Do you reboot every day or ?

BLT has pushed the date to 9/4.
My connection in the Sandisk OEM group is still talking about Q1 2008 for the 8GB. OEM says that it may become available to the retail channels before OEM gets them.
There is a sample order booked for me @ Sandisk but the ship date is open.
high level manager? - LOL
You spoke to a Rep that claims to be the manager - i know, im in the industry
refering back to my 8GB card problems: I hardly ever needed to reset my Hermes and at most I would say twice a week at the most did it need a kick start or reset.
This is what surprised me about the 8GB card suddenly refusing to work. I have since changed ROms and now have changed from the
1. previous::HERM_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.54.707.3_6275_CustomRUU
2. new:: TNT_2.0_official_6mb
I have tried to use the 8GB with the new rom but alas it still not acknowledged. I have no idea what to make of this as the card DID work and for a good three weeks until it suddenly stopped being picked up by the PDA. However as before it IS working ok as my Dell latitude laptop picks the MicroSD card up every time I insert it into the reader.
Its one of the craziest situations I have come across to date/
Incidentally, on a more positive note: the new TNT rom is the fastest I have ever used. I opted for the official version to save on space and it is great. Still doesn't pick up the card but I give up.
Am sticking with my previous 4GB MicroSD.
I digress........

Hi Chingy,
Actually, I have been working with the Product Manager, Natl. OEM Sales Manager, and the Eastern Regional OEM Sales Manager for Sandisk in California in addition to the OEM rep company President and salesman for my area.
My emails and phone conversations have been with all of the above so yes, I feel my information is accurate at least from the OEM division standpoint. I was told that the Retail group is a separate entity from the OEM group so in fact they may hit retail sooner but they didn't know anything one way or the other.
Interesting that you are n the industry, drop me a PM and let me know what you do. I'm in IT Security big time, maybe there's synergy here.

You must use Class 4 MC's with this device

FYI...
I was told by an HTC Rep that you must use a Class 4 memory card with the EVO 3D or else it will NOT perform properly! The 3D must be able to read/write to the uasd card fast enough. This will cause lock ups and reboots if you go ahead and just stick your old class 2 memory card in the phone! This especially happens if you try to take 3D pictures or 3D videos with a class 2 memory card inserted (I have actually seen this for myself...no bueno).

I'm not discounting this, but from a developer standpoint, it doesn't make much sense. Just because a write is taking a few ms longer, shouldn't cause errors so fatal the entire platform crashes. Then again, with HTC coding, I wouldn't be surprised. And 3D pictures aren't anything more than two JPGs saved side-by-side, nothing special or worthy of overwhelming your datapipe any more so than copying an MP3 file.
I have my old EVO card in it and everything runs perfectly.
This is total BS. Don't believe everything you hear

OK right...but yet they are informing people about this in HTC's events that have happened for the 3D and sensation? Now why would HTC just go ahead and say that?
I was actually wondering about this too. Initially I thought the really slow image caching was due to my class 2 sd card on my evo that causes scrolling lag in apps with pictures. I.e, market, trillian, twitter, but i guess that's a evo gingerbread issue I believe.
But what about the devices that still lock and crash using the stock sd card the e3d came with? Or is it safe to say that those users who complain of the lockups and what not are using aftermarket sd cards?

I wasn't, bone stock, crashed/locked up even without an SD card in it
I'm running stock, with the original micro SD card, and I've only crashed once. But it was a weird crash where the screen wasn't working but the phone apparently was, because I could access it through bluetooth. I'm going to test it hard over the next couple weeks to make sure it doesn't continue to happen.
I'm using a 32gb class 2 that i had in my evo 4G and i haven't had any issues at all.

I have a class 2 32GB card in mine and have had no problems at all. I even watched the first 25 minutes of Green Hornet (which I copied over from the OEM card).
My guess is that HTC is dispensing foolproof info that will minimize any support calls. Similar to how the FDA recommends meat cooking times far above what's necessary for food safety to minimize lawsuits from fools getting sick and dying.
I hadn't even noticed the phone came with a class 4. Seems strange that it would cause instability to run it with anything slower.
anyone know the max size of card the 3vo can take?
I'm gonna have to call BS! I'm running a C10 16GB card in my 3VO and I haven't had one reboot or lock up yet.

Root No More!

Well, it's lunch time so I thought I would take a minute to update everyone on my thread "I F'ed Up!' thread in Q&A. The Photon is back to purely stock, no root, no unlock, notta. I got most of my app's back (I will explain that later!).
Several months ago, I rooted and unlocked the Photon. Over that time, I have had several issues, off and on, that required reboots, battery removal, freezing, ect. that required me to come here for advice and help. After watching several of QBKINGS videos, I decided to go with CW7 and see what all the hype was about.
Things went terribley wrong!!!! (Thanks to all that helped me fix it, you will hear from me soon!) After 1.5 days without a phone, and knowing every which way exactly HOW to fix it, I was sitting down last night and give this one more go. Looking around, I noticed (as I did the first time?), some of the links don't work, some of the videos I had no clue WHAT page I was actually looking at, just said scroll down (Nice videos, I just did not get it?), some were re-directed to other sites. I work in IT, been doing it since 1983. I'm all for Development and embrace progress. Then it hit me? "Why do you want to root, unlock, flash anyway?" Really?
I started planning on this phone 2 months before it came out. It was, and still is, the best "Business" phone on the market just like it is. I use my phone for too much sh*t as it is (too long to list) and 30 minutes without it, expecially job wise, is a riks I cannot take again. So I choose to leave it stock and get back to the basics (Planning on getting a Samsung Galaxy Note anyway)
As I was putting all my app's back, a few things I noticed that may be of help to some of you. #1 and the biggest of all, some of the apps were no longer support on my phone, which likely caused most of my issues anyway. Putting my Apps back, 85% of that sh*t I used ONCE and forgot I had it. I got it because someone else thought it was cool for THEIR needs.
#2. (and I know I will hear an earfull on this), The phone is perfect just the way it is, functionally wise? You want your phone to look different, get another wallpaper! You want unlocked bootloader, Motorola never promised us one! Everyone wants ICS, They never promised you that either, we purchased it that way. We complain about the camera, 8MP is, more or less, Studio quality unless your a Pro and want to blow it up! If so, get a Digital SLR (hell, I was happy with my 3MP HTC Fuze!)I love the 2 threads where Sprint cancelled their contract over Data, then they admitted downloading Torrants. READ THE CONTRACT!!! 4G? I have used it twice in the 1.5 years its been out, 3G loads my web pages OK, every now and then YouTube sputters, so what, so does my laptop!
Personally, Photon is running better than it has in months! So, I'm going to leave it how it is, and better understand and work the functions it already has! He**, even my BT's are working better with Pandora not dropping and me able to answer calls. The only other money I'm spending (and I really don't need it!) is the SanDisk Mobile Ultra 64Gb Micro SDHC I!
I will still be here with jokes and to get knowledge, but not touching "Neo" until a month after Note comes out, then I will pack him up for good!

Funny you mention ZumoCast, FIRST thing I went for when I got back. It was offline, went on computer, logged off/on, back to Photon, Online! All my music, movies, documents...........Nice! The only thing bad about ZumoCast, at this time, it only supports music playlist in iTunes (odd to me?) BUT...........Google Music, with its 20,000 limit, does support Playlist! Checked this AM and I had moved 12,000 of the 14,500 I requested. I have well over 130Gb of music and did not want to press my limit, so I picked my fav's and will shuffel them as time goes!.

Don't know what your buying SD card for, assuming a cell phone.. But the Photon(and most others i think) wont support anything over a 32gig. Just a FYI. Glad you got your phone up and running again!
I came from the Evo and the Photon is by far a superior phone. My Photon is rooted, themed, and backed up using bootstrap. I've removed some of the Motorola junk and I experience no force closes or random reboots. I also don't have alot of useless apps running in the background either.
What you do with, and to your phone is directly related to how it works.

You? Do you know how much reading I did only to come back here to get shot down? (Several times at that?)Trust me, I got a lesson!

SD Corruption issues linked anecdotally to custom ROMs?

So,
Putting my infinite wisdom to use, I've established anecdotal evidence (oxymoron? I tease....) that says something is pooping on my MicroSD cards...and that something is....wait for it, wait for it....Custom ROMs (dun, dun, dunnnnnnn). Ehr Mah Guards!!!
I ran the stock ICS ROM for many, many months without issue, and my SD Card was a champ the whole time (excluding one time I plugged it into my Wintel Box, windows thought it was damaged and decided to move a few files around, leaving me a few hundred presents, in the form of LOST.DIR checkdisk files). However, once the Jellies Beans Leakz came out, it was quickly the consensus that it had become, literally overnight, the Bee's Knees. I hopped on mah 'pooter right 'way, and downloaded that sweet sweet ROM dew. Minutes later, and it was like Mardis Gras...if ya know what I mean. He he.
Fast furward about a month, and my Good Old Champ starting to fail on me. "SD Damaged. Yada yada yada...format me." So I did. I figured it was a one off thing kinda thing, ya know? So I continued on my happy way to flashing heaven...combining endlessly different mods, themes, etc. Since charging has always been slower on AOSP ROMs, I jus' charged me batterease in my external travel charger (which can charge a battery from zero to hero in 30 minutes flat), and when mah juices got down to critical levels, I just plopped may battery out, without shutting down or anything, and popped a new one back in! Ah...the marvels of modern devices, right? I figured I could shut this baby down a hundred different ways, and as along as I wasn't flashing something, I'd be fine!
WRONG!!! A week later, I was minding my own business, watching a Keira Knightley Flix, and I forgot to charge or change me battery. The thing crapped on me, and when i booted back up, KABLAM! YOUR SD CARD IS CORRUPTED!!! FORMAT ME NOWWWWWWW.
Oops! I went back to ICS, had a merry time for some months, and not furgetting about mah SD issue, I bought a new card. A stand up card, from a stand up kinda guy, I think his name was Mamason, and the SD card was made by Sand Tisk.
But im a regular kinda guy. So i spent a buttload of cheddar on it, thinking i suffered a fool for buyin' he cheap stuff before. Well no more! No more o' DAT cheap stuff for me Meow. You coodint pay me to use the cheap, regular, barnyard animal quality micros anymore!
So there I was, happy as a kitty with a catnip lollipop, on mah Galaxy Note, new Sandy Micros and e'rything, enjoyin me stocks. I enjoyed it for a few more months, unhindered....then I got fancy...I needed a fix. Bad.
So I decided to go checking out some new flashables, in the Developmental sections at the local ExDeeAysss. I got ter flashing...enjoyed meself quite a bit, dare I say--for about two weeks; before I got thàt DEEaarrrnnnn "SD damaged!" Message again. Yowserrs! Not again!
I formatted once more, switched to a different Bean ROM, and flashed away! Guess what? A month later: "SD Damaged!”
Emooooooo Raaaagggeeeee! Kaaaaammmaaayyyyyyuuuuuuhhhhh!
I went back to ICS, flashed and flashed some stuff there, and voila!!!! No issues!
Now, I cant tie this to random reboots, to Google's extremely vulgar and disappointing lack of knowledge when it comes to modern file systems, for supporting only FAT32, to code in the AOSP, or to a bug somewhere.....but what i can say, is that abusing my phone in AoSP almost immediately gets you a donkey punch to the Note face, leaving your SD Card's brain concussed, and your memory corrupted, with a complete loss of data. Which is really bad, if you plan on using your NANDROIDs on your external storage to recover from in case something bad happens.
I can also say that this doesn't seem to happen on the stock ROMs, or at least it doesn't happen nearly as often on Samsung ROMs. As someone who uses flash memory on an industrial scale for his side jobs and projects, and abuses it elsewhere, this isn't typical. ID really like to know if anyone else has any experience or knowledge to share here, which might just turn this from anecdotal evidence, to something a tad bit more concrete.
Anyone else care to share/chip in?

1) Interesting post. You might have a future in writting.
2) Huh?
3) Kinda long winded. Couldn't read it all.
4) Huh???
I'm not going to dis-agree with your analogies regarding the SD card, and it's possibly being damaged by particular roms/builds.
I too, have suffered 2 SD card failures since running custom builds, and in particular, the JB builds.
I've not yet isolated the cause of course, but it seems that some pieces of code are likely messing up the file structure when the card is being written.
However, it is also quite possible, that the rom itself is not the issue, As many applications have the same ability in messing up the card, and it's read/write access.
We may never know what the cause is, unless folks are willing to disect the build down to the base level, an eliminate each and every application that runs to the external SD.
No doubt a long and painful activity.
Also, I've not had any more issues..(4 months) using (cough...not sandisk) other cards, and at least class 8 or higher.
I'm also running an AOSP/JB build. (thank you Flappjaxxx)....
So I really can't say what may cause the issue, but I know it certainly exists, as I can confirm your findings as well.
Perhaps a skilled Dev. or another person, much more skilled than myself will crack the mystery one day. But for now, I suggest a good quality card, in a class 8-10, and if the card gives you trouble, then try another brand.
I know these cards are mass produced, and vary greatly in quality. Good luck in your quest Sir.....g

Yes! Exactly my thinking...I can't realistically even make a guesstimate at this point. Is it tied to reboots during disk access? A certain program I'm using? Themes? Etc.
But I can say that it happens exponentially more often with my AOSP runs. Absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. So I say "it happens more often" to be conservative--it hasn't happened to me on a stock ROM, and I don't remember it even happening on a stock-based ROM. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, amirite? Maybe it's the infinitely configurable nature and availability of AOSP customizations, mixed with my infinitely-satisfied-for-just-a-day-or-two behaviors, that's causing this-- primarily due to my tinkering.
Donald Rumsfeld had it right...the things we know we know, the things we know we don't know, the things we don't know we don't know....jeeze.
And equally, the versatility, and the sheer force of diversity, will probably ensure we never nail something down.

My guess would be the lack of a certain piece of code. Something that protects, or at least improves and stabilizes the write process.
Since we are dealing with the AOSP buids here, we lack the code added by carriers prior to device shipment, and certainly the testing of those builds.
AOSP is simply raw android, and ported to our devices by a number of means. One can only surmise, that a potential flaw may exist in the transfer proccess. (Maybe)
We may never know the cause, but it certainly is worth looking into further, given the costs associated with SD cards in general, and the amount of important data that they can store.
I know it's painful, to rely on a simple card that stores photos of families etc....Being lost and impossible to recover.
We have become dependent on our devices for support. And when a failure occurs, I suggest a backup plan, by leaving nothing on a simple card, we are not willing to be without.
Backups, and storage to other areas is really quite mandatory.....g
I fried one of mine recently by using Dark Side Super Wipe. Nobody believed me lol.
But I'm good with just the internal memory.

As mentioned above.....what we know, we dont know.....LOL
It is "WITHOUT QUESTION"...possible for a script to reach the SD card, and kill it.
Not that it's a common occurence, but without a doubt it can happen.
I wish my skill set regarding the file structure of android was a bit better, so I could look deeper into these issues.
But my old brain gets too hurting over this stuff...LOL.....g

Titanium Media Sync would be a worthy solution, were it able to write over Samba. I could just mirror everything over to my NAS. For now, drop box will have to do. With a paltry 6Mbps up, it could take days to reach the initial parity.

Honor 7 - Not the phone for you if you take photos

Damn my phone! Using the camera is a joke. I want to save my images to the SD card as I bought a memory card for it as I shoot lots of images and I don't want to max the phone storage out. Forever it will take a photo and you think all is good but then when you go to the gallery there is a grey square instead of the image. Clicking it grey square brings up a dialogue box saying there is no thumbnail. Trying to use it via Flickr upload, Facebook etc says the image is corrupt and can't be used.
Now, it's only the images taken with the camera that is the issue. Whatapp album, downloaded images album, Flickr download folder are all fine, the issue is just images I take with the phone?
So annoyed. Wish I had not cut a corner and bought the Samsung instead.
What a [email protected]#[email protected] title for thread. Talk for yourself.
I'm perfectly happy with H7 camera, can save pics to SD, quality is good..
You having problems with H7 don't means all users have it.

No, what's [email protected]#[email protected] is your reply. No one made you read my post and no one made you comment so if you don't like it then close the door behind you as I am entitled to my opinion and to voice it. Plus you say talk for yourself. How do you know I am? For all you know it could be an issue that most people are facing?
Today I was baking with my 3 kids, something that I don't get the time to do and thought it would be a nice bonding thing to do with them - father and children. Not wanting to ruin the moment and go for the DSLR I used my phone. All the images that I took, that was about 15 or so of each child mixing their ingredients, preparing the cakes, getting them ready for the oven, capturing their beaming smiles (which with my twin 4 year old boys is no mean feat), and then for all of them circa 45 or so images so all be ruined and not one recorded properly just sucked so excuse me if I vent a little steam.

Again, this is just hearsay
Getting back on track, looking at the image files on a PC, not one gives me the option to view, they can't be opened and again there is no thumbnail. Looking at the EXIF data and none is recorded. Trying to import one into Photoshop and it says "could not complete your request because a JPEG marker segment length is too short (the file may be truncated or incomplete."
Now in the past I faced this issue with the camera (this phone) and I would go straight to Flickr and upload the image before it went mental and stopped playing ball with the image so at least I had a copy. Then I would then download it back down from Flickr and that image file would be fine, unlike the original that would do dolaly.
Please feel free to keep arguing with me if you like, we're both entitled to our own opinions but its kinda pointless as it doesn't solve anything
Did You cry long after my last post ?
How do I know You speak for everybody?
Look at title of your thread: using statement like 'for you' clearly says, that you try implement your opinion on someone else, possibly make some people not to buy this decent phone.
Could be an issue most people are facing ?
Well, nope. After this long after premiere of this phone there would be houndreds of posts about it. There isn't.
Tried to bond with the kids and camera didn't obey ?
Sad story. So sad that your life is rubbish if You don't have enough time for your kids. Maybe change of life style ?
Money isn't everything.
Feel free to argue ?
Yet again you say to someone what he can do or not? Déjà vu of your thread title.
Thank You for bit of entertaiment That would be my last post in this thread as you are clearly to touchy to continiue. Don't wanna make you cry again
Yet ' feel free to argue ' , others would have some fun reading it too i belive.
Sorry for all inconvinience I made to You
Let's try and be constructive. I'm not having this problem either. Try a faster sd card. Class 10 are the fastest, I have a samsung class 6. Also turn down resolution (here I use 8M, who need 5000x3000 resolution?) Because it affects file size.
I'm not having this problem, I save to sd card and thumbnails are created and all camera images are viewable in the gallery and editable when transferred to pc. You have a problem specific to your phone/sd card.
Can you see thumbnails when you save to internal memory?
I bet it's something with sd card. Try another one. Never had problems with camera app and photos. Please look also if you enabled to save location with photo - perhaps it can't get the position and that's why it don't save them correct ( just a try to find the error)
Good luck
I disagree. I love the camera on the H7.
Paired with Google's Snapseed, I get some pretty good photos.
Also, I have no issues with SD cards and saving photos onto them.
I'd tend to agree with the original poster, in day to day use the camera is more often bad than good.
There is a huge delay when taking the photo, and most annoyingly what gets saved is different than the image that flashes on the screen when you press the shutter! What gets saved is often out of focus and with motion blur.
I find the camera very disappointing for all but well lit rock-steady slow shots.

I never have the issues mentioned by the OP, like mentioned I would hazard a guess at the SD card being at fault here. Overall I'm happy with he camera performance.
The only thing I would have liked is image stabilisation as I have quite shaky hands but I will just have to try and use both hands and lean against something for support where I can I guess.
im also pleasantly suprised by the camera. its nice n snappy and takes good photos. I dont have the issues mentioned in the OP>
Maybe a bad sd card??

I had similar problems when using Snap Camera & photo quality 100% & save to SD Card, With stock camera I never had any problem. So it is definitely a problem of write speed of SD card. Try another one with higher "Class" and pictures will be ok.
I've had none of the issues op is referring to. However i've had issues with phone crashing after taking full hd video. However it is a separate matter and belongs in a different thread.
just got my H7....more than happy with the camera and the photos (set to 20meg)....i won't talk about the speaker phone part
Im too happy with the camera of Honor 7. The issue mentioned here might be bcos of SD card low speed (or) higher RAM utilization.
EMUI should really fix all the RAM management issues.

If you are using standard photos, you should get 20MP.
Try to clean the cache/data of the app in the phone settings.
