I was using my TFP while brushing my teeth this morning and noticed something very strange. Did my diligence and didn't noticed anything else on the forums about it.
The TFP was on the counter as I was reading through the morning's posts via Google Reader. I opened a link that went to the stock browser and noticed that after I stopped touching the tablet, it developed some white lines, maybe 3/4 cm long and 3 mm or so apart, all along the length of the left edge of the tablet while it was in landscape orientation.
When I picked it up, the problem went away. When I put it down, it happened again after a second, so I picked it up again, and it went away again. This time I took a closer look to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me, so I was holding it a bit longer. After I put it down, the problem didn't reappear, and hasn't yet happened again, even after carrying it into work with me.
Has anyone else had this problem? The lines went down the entire edge and into the back button. The lines weren't static either, changing length horizontally but not vertically.
I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software problem, but either way, I'm inclined to exchange, return, or RMA it. Starting to have enough minor problems that it's becoming a major fuss.

Now that I think about it, I had just showered - humidity could be a factor, but that was like 20 minutes earlier.
white lines
I had something very similar happen yesterday..see pics.
Btw. Steamed music and Bluetooth connected to Bose with no problem.didn't try video.
Received mine via UPS from Best Buy at 4pm, returned it at 8pm. BB ordered a new one, which will arrive 01/14.

Wow, mine didn't do anything nearly that bad. Maybe that's the next phase of this issue though.

my tf201 has this problem occasionally as well.
it seems to be a memory/multitasking issue in android itself.
on my tf201 it happens when switching from a game to a non-gpu or graphics intensive app.
simple solution is that you need to kill some of the tasks in the background, then restart your app. then it goes away.
it seems to be some kind of memory leak in the graphics subsystem...

Whew... As long as it's not some sort of physical damage, I can live with it
It went away with newer firmwares. Pops up once in a while, but I think it's related to the graphics system. If I unload everything from the quickswitch, the triangle issue and this one don't occur anymore.
Anyone figure this out? I get it the odd time as well.
See attached. (The vertical lines in the picture are just from the camera.)
i've been getting the same problem with mine, just recently, i've done a hard reset but it comes right back. I requested an RMA from Asus, is it worth sending in and is it something that is fixable or is it just a software issue with 4.0.3.
And where is this quickswitch that you unloaded everything from..
i mailed it back, i told them i either wanted the wifi & the static lines fixed, a refund or an upgrade to a 700. Not that they care
So yeah, the frustration with an issue can be cumulative, and in this case I just crossed the line from "living with it" to "I can NOT accept this behavior any longer. Not one day/Hour/minute longer.
Asus, Fix my Keyboard/Typing entry so when I am on XDA, trying to make this device better, the cursor doesn't constantly jump to the first character position in the text box. This has been happening since release, and no FW release has helped in the slightest, .11 through .21 inclusive.
For example, typing THIS post, with the Dock Keyboard, touchpad off, the cursor, in mid-typing, heck in mid WORD, will just decide "I don't like this spot, I need a vacation. Let's see. Where do I feel like going... I KNOW! How about that same spot I went to last minute; that nice sunny spot at the top left corner.. It was nice the last time I went there. I never stay long, cause that "User" keeps catching me and putting me right back where I was...That's okay becasue I will just KEEP coming back again and again and again and again and again and again.
See, I am going a little bit INSANE with this. Anyone else dealing with it, and does anyone have ANYTHING in the way of a fix or workaround?
Has anyone else experienced this? My friend was checking out the phone and played with the camera settings for a bit (i.e. burst, panoramic, etc). When it gave it back to me, it was fairly warm but I figured that it's normal. However, after being in my pocket for a couple minutes it felt abnormally hot. Took it out and killed all apps via the task manager and it cool off pretty fast. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
I had a similar situation, but dont know if this is what happend to you.
I also had a friend playing with the phone taking pictures and when he gave it back, it was hot. I think what was happening is his house has bad Sprint service and I have the pics upload to G+ and because the service was bad, it was having trouble uploading them. That was my guess anyway, but maybe im wrong.
I took my phone into the Sprint store today and was told they've never seen this before, so I'm turning to this forum for help before I go back on Wednesday to have them look at it again with the hope of solving this mystery screen on my phone.
Every day (at least once - usually when my battery is fully charged in the morning), I get the screen below (and attached). The user flow usually goes like this:
Alarm goes off on the phone (using native alarm app) > I pick up the phone to see the below image > I hit the power button a few times so I can actually unlock my phone and turn off the alarm
Has anyone ever seen this screen before and do you know how to fix it? It's unbelievably annoying as sometimes I have to hit the power button multiple times for it to go away. If it helps, the phone is stock and I took a screen capture of the screen while it was acting up one time and when I went to my gallery to see the image, it showed the phone looking perfectly normal...so the image is taken from another phone while it was acting up.
Any help is greatly appreciated and if there are any questions, let me know!
Thanks!
I'd have it replaced
Awesome man, I'd love to have that as a screensaver. Your phone is unique, I'd keep it. Too bad the screenshot didn't work.

Thanks. I'll bring it into Sprint tomorrow and see if they'll replace it or what their diagnosis is
Yea that definitely looks like hardware failure.
Just got back from Sprint who told me the issue has to do with the live screensaver I have on the phone and how it's conflicting with the alarm. Pretty sure that's not the case as this phone has been doing this ever since unboxing it, but will try to hard reset the thing and see if that fixes the screen.
Dont think so. Looks like hardware failure,...a lot.

I believe you more than the Sprint rep at this point, but figure I'll do the hard reset, then when it happens again tomorrow, go ask for a new phone.
Try just changing to a static wallpaper and see if it happens. Easy way to test the reps theory. You never know even a broken close is right twice a day.

Looks beautiful from an artistic standpoint, it would make an awesome wallpaper
Thanks @syaoran68. I'll try this, but seeing as how it was a static wallpaper when I got the phone out of the box and it was still doing this, it seems to me to be an overheating hardware issue. But I'll try it.
@om4: It's true. If only it ran in the background BEHIND my apps, it'd make for a cool live wallpaper...
Hi there. Today i just noticed some lag after i recorded a video. I recorded a video for about a minute and a half to 2 minutes each time and then when i pressed stop on the screen...it stopped recording but kind of jammed or froze on that same screen still showing the red stop button, both times it did this. Is that normal for Galaxy's to do or is it just my phone? I went to test it again later but i recorded a shorter video and was fine and no lag, but seems that larger or longer videos seem to freeze or jam it for a bit. I was in a very dusty, dirt road area and just maybe though something may of gotten into the phone and wrecked it a bit but just had it replaced with a brand new device nonetheless.

I personally haven't heard of/read about anyone experiencing this (nor have I experienced this myself) so maybe it's just an isolated incident - have you tried searching?
I regularly record 10 mins vids fine if it's of interest
Are/were you on stock?/root?
Are you on 4.1.2 stock rom with custom kernel ?
Then try to search its widely known issue
Hope this helps

What rom are you using custom? stock?
im on Android 4.0 stock rom. It happened two or 3 times yesterday. The device is as is out of the box...no root, nothing customised or anything.
If you are experiencing this issue recording to external microSD, try setting it to the internal SD card storage to see if it fixes the issue. If it does, then your microSD card might be dodgy.

ok cool yeah it is recording to external sd card. the card seems to work fine though, it reads and writes fine so maybe it just took time to save the whole file onto it?
I had this problem, too.
I enabled the camera stabilisation and the bug was gone...
Hope this was helpful
