[HOW TO] Mango Beta Update - xda-developers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148123

update via zune? than it will not work on our loved hd2.. same reason like nodo.. :/ we need to wait for cooked rom from our professionals here
I think a beta is not deployed via zune
I'd like to see what this update bring us?
I know it won't work through Zune. But yukixda got nodo working. My point in posting is the fact that as of today mango is available for porting. Its not just the emulator mango. It is the actual beta release.
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
It says specifically for the beta that its only for dev unlocked phones. And hd2 wp7 is a dev unlocked phone.
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Also the fact that it "enables" your phone to "receive" the mango update may give out hd2s the ability to use Zune to update rather thn flashing?

Interesting news on flashing the beta mango to non dev unlocked devices. I know this doesn't include our HD2's, but it's another step in that direction.

pretty much everything you mentioned is driver related, and the drivers we have for the HD2 are incomplete, so dont hold your breath, although i think there is some work on the BT headset issues but again, i dont know if we will see any benifit as the drivers for the HD2 are custom test drivers (which is why things are a bit dodgy)

Can anyone make it possible to close apps in the multitask viewer of Windows Phone Tango on the HTC Titan? Like with a little x at the top?
Thanks in advance
I WISH!

How hard can it be!?
If you make this, it's also compatible with every rooted win phone.

Let us know once you've sorted it
That sir, would be freaking awesome
I would pay money for it, actually.
Not possible. That's part of the OS and can't be mde in an app. Maybe in Apollo..

I've been looking into this whole windows 8 update thing, I think it'd be cool, I'm running 7 now. But my phone and its customization of ability is important to me.
Would I screw up any further phone to computer efficiency doing this??
Is it a bad idea in general??
Give me your thoughts Wise XDA colony.
I don't think so. Windows 8 is a major change for windows but it should not effect the way android and windows interact, might actually improve it, the learning curve in operating the new windows will be the biggest problem.

I've been using it for almost a year now and I've not had any problems with any of the Android devices I've owned or played with. I've had OTHER problems, but never have had a problem regarding Android stuff.
So I read through this article> http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/barnes-and-noble-new-nook-in-september/ < and was wondering if any of the Windows gurus here at XDA has done any playing in this direction, or would be willing to try? Just think it would be interesting to try, and I'm not knowledgable enough to do it. I would be willing to learn if I could get some guidance. I realize this is mainly Android over here, but this does involve the Nook Tablet, so , What are your thoughts?
Windows 8 will not be released on any currently existing products. It might come to next-gen nooks, though.
From what I've read (I did not read your article) it seems unlikely that it will be able to be ported, but I've been wrong before.

I know we've got windows xp and such on some devices, but android is based on Linux, so it will never run natively it appears, but with the arm support it might be possible with a lot of work. Also I do see someone by sometime next year getting a universal win 8 emulator, but it'll take a lot of work, and be a while.

iPaq, arm processor, windows 2003SE and we always wished for Linux. We had 2 versions of Linux by the end but not very dependable for my purposes.
What you ask may happen but I'd still rather Linux!
Nook tablet GPU can't support win 8.

I don't see win on the nook tablet soon, but after some looking I might have a from with the win 8 metro UI on top of ICS soon. I'm going to go play around with the idea right now

Sorry to say this but windows 8 RT aka the ARM version will be locked down to the device it is installed on and you wont be able to install in on another device. The UEFI will be locked as well. Now if I can find the web page that goes into more detail then I can remember it will shed some light on this.
Ok here is a page on UEFI http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/archive/2011/09/22/protecting-the-pre-os-environment-with-uefi.aspx and microsoft will have all that manadatory on arm but be more open on x86 so that people can still use linux and older versions of windows on x86 systems
Hey, im about 50% done getting the metro ui on top of ICS. I got the home, back, and recent app list, the notification, volume, settings and everything themed, next im adding the live tiles and such probably tonight, the ill upload the .zip and teach everyone how to add it.

Hi guys
I've had a look around and understand that I'll need to edit the 'build prop' so that my device is recognised as another phone in order to have a more widespread choice of apps.
I want to install Need for Speed most wanted but the application cannot be found in the Play store and installing via the web based Play store is not allowed due to the app not being supported.
It makes me wonder how many other apps I could be missing out on!
Would anyone be able to recommend the changes to make as I don't want to make any mistakes and also how to go about making changes - I know this currently can't be done via a file explorer and probably has to be done via recovery.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Are you running custom or stock? And just throwing this out that I'm pretty sure NFS doesn't work on our phones. A review I watched showed that it just displays a black screen.

I am guessing that whether stock or rooted, by installing apps from unknown sources, you are betting (praying, might also help) that some nefarious developer out there is not smart enough to leave some "cool" bug on your device.
But I'm not positive by any means, either.
Don't know what OS you're running but both NFS run great on HD2 Ansar 8773 ROM (and in years of sideloading apps I've yet to encounter some mythical '"cool" bug' - even in WM6.5 but least of all in the protected WP7 OS..Android is a different story!)

...you're talking about a ROM we don't have because you're talking about a different phone. No offense, but how do all of these people not see Droid DNA plastered all over the top? Lol

Is it possible to run the actual Windows phone 8 OS on my note?
I've been thinking of trading this for a Windows phone since I've been running this for a while now.. but I remember hearing android users running the actual os on their device, which would be even better if that means being able to go back to android. Is this possible or am I dreaming?

not quite sure but now im interested im going to check the windows forum and see if there is anything about it there
Go find your self a used HD2 if you want to do all of that. It's not going to happen on this phone.

windows phone gets very boring very quick.
I owned one before, after about a week you'd regret it.
My last phone was a focus and I liked it very much. Can get boring, I agree... but that's why I'm interested to do it in here so I can go back to Jb when/if I want to.
I saw the one tutorial for basically losing the phone with apps to fully recreate win 8, but I'm sure I'll just be left with a buggy base android

The processor in the note isn't compatible with windows OS. Supposedly Microsoft will publish a version that will work with this processor.
Run launcher 8 that's the closest you will get. Quite nice. Using it now.
