[HELP] bootanimation w/ sound - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

I found this smoked glass animation and applied it with root (no roms) by just replacing the stock one in /local/data folder and works well but want a sound I picked out and don't know whether the stock kernel supports sound.
If it does, could you guys help me out? I don't know how to mod the .desc.txt file...

I will look when I get home.
Files should be in /system/media though.

I tried making you files to copy and paste into your system. It was fine, but the audio clip is crap, and you can barely hear it. When I converted it to mp3, (which by the way was your problem.........need mp3 or ogg), and added gain, it about blew my speakers because you have a nasty sound which sounds like someone putting a needle on a record at the start.

Thanks a lot for helping

Not to annoy anyone.... But, could anyone tell me how to make it find the sound file?

I would download a boot animation with sound, and one without sound, then extract both of them and look at the file structures for each. Open the desc.txt file on both and compare them. You will find the main difference is that the boot animation with audio has an audio file in the zip file, and is called up in the desc.txt file.
Best to use 7-Zip.
When zipping your files back up to create the bootanimation.zip, you need to set 7-Zip to:
Archive Format = zip
Compression Level = store

Transformers Season 1 Intro Boot Animations!

Edit: LOL, just realized I said bootanimations in the title of the thread haha...
So here's a boot animation I made for my OG EVO back in the day. I added more frames to it so it runs alot smoother...WITH SOUND!
The timing may or may not work for you but it works for mine. I'm currently running the latest odexed version (Sept4th) of the XRON rom.
Here's the link to my dropbox:
http://db.tt/rBiCc7P
This is what it looks like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q26Nm2MNw1M&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I have mine set up where my bootanimations with sound work from the /data/local folder in the phone.
I edited the default.xml file to read all bootanimation.zip and android_audio.mp3 from /data/local folder.
Edit: http://db.tt/7Stg2hb is a link to my default.xml file
Using Root Explorer, place this file in system/customize/CID.
Important: make sure you rename the zip file to bootanimation.zip and the mp3 file to android_audio.mp3
Enjoy.

I love mme some transformers. But this isn't for me...
I'm downloading anyways though because I know someone who doesn't visit the forums but would love it!
Is it possible you can add the default xml file , the sound isn't working when I placed the bootanim and mp3 in data local

Stills no go with sound but thanks I love this animation
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Try this: http://db.tt/7Stg2hb
Then you would use root explorer to put the file in system/customize/CID
don't forget to save a copy of the existing default.xml file by simply renaming it (long-pressing on it and choosing rename) by adding ".old" or ".bak" to it so it becomes default.xml.old or default.xml.bak...I usually use .old but either is okay.
Make sure the mp3 is named "android_audio.mp3" and is placed in the same folder as the "bootanimation.zip" file in /data/local

In sytem/media (the same folder as the bootanimation.zip), go to audio/notifications and put it there.
as to what to name it. the bootanimation.zip will look for a specific file i think, so whatever the readme of the .zip file says.
you will have to use root explorer.
BTW someone will probably yell at you for not putting this in the general section.

exactly. did you read my post? i believe i stated that.
The desc.txt does not list a filename for the sound but just merely to put an "s" to indicate there is sound. Do you or anyone else here know the filename to use? For the Hero it was android_audio.mp3 but for Motorola(s) especially the Photon, I haven't come across any specifics as to what the filename should be.

Not sure. i just know that when i changed to the Bionic boot animation, the desc.txt pointed to a file named Bionic.ogg. I just assumed that the desc.txt always gave the name of the sound file it needed.

Request Your Custom Boot Animations here

Hey Guys,
I wanted to offer this to anyone who didn't know how to do it. I can create custom boot animations for you from .avi or flash video formats.
Also, if you see one for another device anywhere and would like it modified for our device resolution, let me know and I will convert it.
I have tested all of these on my device, so they are confirmed working. If not let me know and I will fix it. I am not responsible for any problems caused by you doing something wrong in the flashing process.
Simply post post a url to your video. That's it. YouTube is a good source.
I will do them according to post order.
Here is where the ones I've done will be listed. They are all flashable in CWM recovery
Credit for Call of Android goes to this thread. All i did was make it flashable and optimize the resolution for our device.

Hi, I would love to have the "glowing S" boot animation that is used with the Perception and Cognition 777 roms to use with Unnamed 1.3.1 ...Forgive my ignorance if this isn't possible to flash over or simply isn't cool to the dev. I'm new to the community and still learning the do's and don'ts. Either way THANKS!
I don't have a video of a specific one but would it be possible to make one resemble the old SEGA or Nintendo animations? Maybe even change it to say Android or SGSII in that font?
I made some crude animations of what I have in mind, if anyone is more animation savvy and willing to play with it please feel free to do so. These are very basic so please don't hate on them haha

Here is the file for that animation that you need to place in your system/media folder. Use root explorer and copy and paste. Be sure to rename original bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.bak.
I tested it and it does work, however it doesnt have the sound, which I would rather not have anyway personally, but if you do want the sound let me know and I will work it up to.

My reason is to give the appearance of stock bootup even though I am running root and Zedomax OC kernel. I already have my jig to reset the flash count (lost the yellow ! triangle - - YAY!!)

Stock International Boot/Shutdown animation & Sound - Remove T-Mobile Boot Logo

So I personally hate the look of the T-Mobile boot/shutdown animations, so I extracted to stock animations from the international version of the phone. Just thought that I would share it here for anyone else who wanted to get rid to the T-Mobile boot/shutdown animation.
Adding Boot Animations
1. First, download a file explorer on your phone. I personally use Root Explorer, it costs a little but it worth every penny. A free one you can use is ES Explorer.
2. Navigate to system > media on your device. If you see files titled bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsamsungloop.qmg, bootsamsungmini.qmg, and bootsansungminiloop.qmg then you are in the right area. If not, try again to find the right area.
3. Take only the bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsamsungloop.qmg, bootsamsungmini.qmg, and bootsansungminiloop.qmg files from the zip attached to this post and paste them over the existing one.
If prompted by your file explorer, the permission of the files should be rw-rw-rw-
(Please note, if you want to save the stock files to restore them for any reason, replace the qmg on the stock files with XML)
Animation steps are completed!
Adding Boot Sound
For sound we are going to do pretty much the same thing
1. Navigate to System > Media > Audio > UI, if you see a bunch of files ending in .ogg, you're in the right area!
2. Replace the stock PowerOn.ogg with the one in the zip attached to this post.
(Please note, if you want to save the stock files to restore them for any reason, replace the ogg on the stock files with XML)
3. (optional) If you don't like the shut down sound on your device, delete the file title PowerOff.ogg
Reboot and enjoy!
Hopefully that helps out anyone who was having issues. Let me know if you have any other questions or concern!
im with you, ty sir.

Awesome, I am guessing that you would need a file explorer to do anything. Most people on here have recommended ES File explorer. Its free and does a lot of things, but does take some getting used to if your not real familiar with the file structure.
Hope this gets you started in make your phone truly YOURS. Gotta love Android.

Yeah, you do need a file Explorer to do this, I can make this a flashable zip if people are interested though. As for file explorers, I prefer Root Explorer, it's the best out there Imo. It costs a buck or two, but worth it to support great deal.

Make sure that you aren't pasting the PowerOn.ogg where the boot .qmg's go, and make sure you aren't pasting the qmg's in where the PowerOn.ogg goes. I know that's a pretty confusing explanation but that seems to be what would cause the issue for you guys. I'll update the OP with more exact instructions.
As for a flash-able zip, I will try to get the done sometime this week. I have an interview today at work I'm preping for so I probably wont get it done today.

So, the startup animation/sound is working great (thank you!), but it's still T-Mobile sound for the shutdown. Do you happen to have the PowerOff.ogg from international version?
Also, I created a flashable .zip file for the stuff you provided, and a return-to-stock .zip also. If you can provide the file above, I can include it before sending them to you for posting here.
EDIT: I went ahead and posted it without any shutdown sound. The T-Mobile one will restore the original animations and the boot/shutdown sounds also.

Same exact problem, and I'm no noob to this either. Not sure what is breaking it.
I think one of those boot animations (at least one of the four) are corrupt. OP, you may want to have a look at those files and maybe replace them, they might have uploading improperly.
For those who got stuck with a stuck screen, I believe it is the boot animation that is the problem (not the sounds). Replacing the originals does work, just don't use the flash. Here are the original 4 qmg files for the media folder (delete the others out).
