[Q] SIP app that works with atrix? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone got a SIP app that works on atrix?
tried acrobits (voice is speakerphone only), csipsimple (crashes, distortion), sipdroid (no sound), sipagent (no sound). All these apps with exact same settings, exact same codecs etc. run fine on nexus one, and from reading forums it seems that the atrix doesn't play nice with VOIP apps.
running stock AT&T latest version.
Yes will eventually root/rom but waiting for gingerbread OTA as baseline.

Nobody else using voip?
Heck even skype seems buggy

I'm using CSipSimple on 4.5.91 ATT and it works great.
Even Fring works okay.

i tried a bunch of different ones. they were all buggy. i couldnt make anything work even though they all work fine on all my other devices....

Did you try Clearsea ?It's pretty good.

sorry I don't want any of these kitchen sink video / social / login type things like fring or clearsea. I just want a SIP client like SIPdroid, CSIPsimple, Acrobits (which I have paid for and used to use on Nexus One fine).
I guess I"ll just have to wait till 2.3 drops to see if that fixes issues and / or native SIP feature (which used to work fine on Nexus One).

What is your setup for CSipSimple?
I am trying to set it up with pbxes.org and am having a ton of trouble.

GrooVe IP is the easiest one I've ever used. Just enter your google voice credentials and it's ready to go. Worth the $4.

since 2.3, acrobits seems to be working, thank god

@jruweaver Best suggestion ever! Thanks.

On vanilla GB, maybe. Not on stock.
The guts may be there, but the settings interface is totally gone.

Google Talk Video Chat

Is anybody on here able to initiate a video call via Google Talk from their g2 to a desktop Talk client? Every time I try it connects for 2 seconds and terminates the connection.
What'd driving me crazy is I can accept incoming video requests and it works perfectly.
I'm on a stock rooted device, pretty sure I had this problem before root.

At&t has a Wi-Fi only restriction. There's a guide on the forums to enable video chat over 3G. Are you on Wi-Fi? That could be the issue but I'm not to sure, when I get home I'll test.

Sorry i should have mentioned that. I've only tried this over wireless. I've also tried with 2 different desktop clients. Same thing with both can't make call but can receive call?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
The one time I tried it did the same thing. I figure it is a Google Talk issue. I never used it much so I didn't worry too much but yes, I am experiencing the same issue.

Tried to another Galaxy SII Specifically on Sprint. Also tried with the web based client. If you see a video talk option, then you know it works. I've tried with Desktop (web based or iChat based) and Phone based, to no avail.

Perfect. Much thanks!
My parents have Androids, but on Verizon (Droid Bionic's). I thought it was weird, but this is the same thing I was seeing as well. Connects for a second or two, then disocnnects and says there's a problem with the network. If they contact me, it works perfectly fine.

[Suggestions] Best App for Texting from Tablet

Looking for an App that will let me send texts from my touchpad to my phone,
I have seen a few but i really want to hear what other people are using to get it done. or if this is just something i like the idea of
I have a google voice account but i hate that it doesn't use my real phone number, also before you talk about the integration, its UI is horrible so i would rather not use it.

I don't know about texts because of your touchpad doesn't have phone signal, but why not just email yourself?

get an IM app
I think he just wants to be able to use his tablet to send texts via his phone. Meaning, he can come home and plug his phone in and use his tablet to send/receive texts from his phone. I am interested in the same thing actually. I don't wanna tote my phone around with me, if I'm chilling downstairs and using my tablet.

if you havent done so on sprint. get on Google voice.(its free for sprint) u can use the official Google voice apps on your tablet to send text thru wifi, also received them.
i tried a bunch of apps on my touchpad but never found one that works as good as google voice. my touchpad and phone are both set up with google voice and it's integrated with my sprint phone number so no weird number to deal with. works great for me. only thing is once you integrate, no more going back to vvm unless you call sprint to get it set back up.

Thank you for at least reading the OP
If google would spend about 20 minutes working on google voices UI I would probably use it.
I will look into airdroid, tablet text also has a decent amount of good reviews so I have been looking into that as well

I use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5kMGxwaDFuazFuZy5zeW5jc21zIl0.
It uses dropbox to sync the messages between your phone and tablet. Works great on my wifi only flyer

Personally I like the UI. And the speed between syncing is almost instant when you have push notifications enabled. Here's a screenshot of it if you want to see it

I use mysms on my touchpad. You just install the app on your phone and tablet and then send texts from your tablet. I use it on my touchpad and works flawlessly.

Just an fyi: If you want the push notifications, you have to press the version number like 10 times or something (I didnt count I just hammered it until the option became available lol)
TexTab without question. I love it, and the UI is nice and simple (uses BlueTooth). It uses your messaging app in that it uses your phone's signal and leaves the text message in the history of the conversation on your phone.

When I bought my Transformer Prime, I looked at a couple. This one is great. Called Heywire - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mediafriends.chime haven't had any issue. send/receive pics, it's immediate when sent or received. plus it's actually free.

I have a better one for you go to Google play and search for mightytext, this app can be used on Google Chrome and the tablet and the flawless features are: sending mms, making out going calls, and it has notification of your text and the people who call you.
Plus one on mighty text. Use it in chrome and loaded the website on my iPad a few times

Best Text Messaging App?

Using Google Voice for text messaging. Have noticed that there are several others available and wondering which is better? Whatsapp, Voxer, Viber, etc.
Any thoughts?

Honestly, the best one would probably just be Google Voice (as your probably used too, considering you use it). I've had absolutely no problems with it, and the texting online from your computer feature is also a huge plus! It seems to be the best of all the other ones I've tried.
I've been using textplus but have been really disappointed with it. It works but it's slow and clunky.
Im using textfree its better than the others go to 4shared.com and look for the apk and install it it actually gives you a number based on your zip code

Google Voice gives you a number based on your area code as well. I find TextFree only good on iOS, the Android version is quite slow.

Visual voice mail

Since upgrading to ICS my visual voice mail stoped working i miss it anyone else have this issue and is there a fix
Most likely it will require an update to the App from AT&T. Till then there wont be a fix unless someone hacks it up.
This was the hacked one from the galaxy i727 off xda worked great till the update
I am using the latest one from the play store and working fine

I downloaded youmail works ok until bluetooth is fixed Thanks for all your help and input

[Q] missing voicemail app

Phone: HTC EVO3D s-off running ICS/Sense to maintain appearance of being stock. At some point in the past few weeks, my voicemail app decided to vanish, possibly during a hard reset or during a drunken rampage in which I decided that all sprint bloat needed to die. Either way, I can't seem to locate a direct replacement in the play store. All I want is something to inform me of when I have new voicemails, even if it is just the standard voicemail.apk that comes with the phone. Can anyone help with this?
Have you tried Youmail? It's pretty good and it's has its own visual mail app or if you have Google voice use set it as your voice mail

I'm using youmail currently, but I'm not a fan of the stock greetings and haven't found a setting (if one exists) to personalize. I get a lot of client calls and would prefer that they hear my voice instead of a computer. Thanks for the recommendation!
I think there is a flashable zip of the Sprint voicemail app somewhere. I'm on my phone so I can't search easily. You could download a ROM with the app and get it from there.
If you have Sprint, you can get into your voicemail by dialing your own number from your cell phone. Other companies might work the same way.

Try one of these, should probably work fine. Not really anything you can mess up anyway.
