Hello
I've been wondering which cpu setting is the best for the phone
i do not care if the battery just last 1 day
but i feel like the 600mhz are not enough
i am using Froyocomb 1.6 with 748 mhz at max and 122 at min
aslo im wondering if what change does checking "adding to boot" option

748 works best for me, 768 would give me reboots but 748 doesn't at all. I'm not sure about the "adding to boot" as I'm a Mini user using NAA's CM7.0.3 but I think maybe that it might mean that as soon as the phone boots, the CPU is set at your selected frequency instead of only being set once the OS loads (where the launcher pops up etc.) which would mean a faster boot time.
But it's only an uneducated guess, I could be completely wrong.
748 but I have used like
600 min 748 max and that was fast no reboots
Any one else care to comment.

If you're unsure of what might happen you can always uncheck "set on boot" so that if your phone freaks out and has a fit it will reboot and the CPU setting will restore to default... it saved my ass when I bumped it up to 825 by accident... my phone had a "mini" stroke but has since made a full (x)recovery.
Excuse all the puns

And how were the battery perfomance when you put 600 as min?
also for all the other using 748 as max, how long is your battery duration?
one more question, what's JIT?
JIT:

Um using mi 480 and maximum 729...trust me I got the best performance so far

Using min 122 / max 614.
What happens if I increase the max, where would I see improvements?
729 MHz Max 710 Min. Perfectly for me. When i set to higher my phone always reebot and SetCPU doesn't work after reebot (CyaNoComb v1.4). No difference for me in battery duration.

Jit just in time compiler the faster the phone the more you want jit
I set my CPU to 825.
is that a bad thing or should it be fine?
im using max 729 and min 729 on my MiniCM7, its really smooth...
Sorry for my bad english...

ok i am at the cpu set up i set up every thing one question in profiles there is a check mark next to each setting thats says enable underneath that it say modify .modify is were i set up max and min.should the enable be checked or not ckecked

Enabled means... you are using that as one of the profiles. So if you want that particular profile to work. Then yes you must have enabled checked.

You must check the enable box if you want it to use those settings. SetCPU will prioritize the profiles in order of the list except Failsafe always prevails.
so i only ckeck the ones i changed right. Also in the main screen should i check auto fresh. with the changes i made is that going to make my phone run better and the battery last longer

No guarantees ur battery will last longer. It depends on what kind of user you are. Because the extra MHz will compensate for the idle time.
wish xda had a thanks button, so thanks to you both for the help with understanding this.
I set mine for 710 for now and kept the base min at the posted mins. So far running for awhile now and everything is going well.
I'm running Evil Eris 2.0.1 and noticed that my overclocking seems to have stopped working. I just installed yesterday and everything was fine. I have it set 767 min 767 max, as well as failsafe and sleep/standby profiles. It was working fine yesterday and I was getting almost 3Mflops. Now, I'm getting about 1.8 Mflops. Please help.

Hmm... Do me favor and either run a command for me?
cat /proc/cpuinfo
(tell me your BogoMIPS)
or
Download CPU Benchmark (free from the market) and tell me MHz it reconizes
I'd like to check some things...
EE 2.0.1 -- my cpu is for 710 max and 568 min. I dl linpack, the benchmark says 2.365 MFLOPS. Is the way to improve this? (It runs as low as 1.959)

I would suggest following the link in the second post. It will take you to zanfur's thread about this subject. He has an updated kernel that you can flash to improve OC'ing. He also posted his recommended settings for SetCPU.
I am running EE2.0.1 with zanfur's first update flashed over and almost all of his settings. My Linpack shows at 3.203 MFLOPS.
I have linpack for benchmarking. MFlops: 1.647 Time: 3.29 Seconds. According to setCPU, i'm only getting 480 Mhz, even though I have it set to 767 min/max. I've tried rebooting. Does not help.

EE 2.0.1 to my knowledge will have lower MFLOPs because of SenseUI. 768MHz may help but not sure. And JIT is out of the question because its a Sense based rom.

What rom are you running? check Post #13
I'm running Evil Eris 2.0.1. So I adjusted the min below 767 (to 710) and it seems to be working now. Guess you can't have them at the same value.
What settings do you guys use for the profiles? I wanna get the best performance from the phone that hopefully won't overheat it.
I tried asking this in the Megatron-thread but as usual, no answers...
I am a little worried about keeping my phone overclocked at all times, so I was thinking about downloading SetCPU and switching between 600 and 700 via that app. But my question is this: Megatron ROM overclocks the phone by default. If I download a 3rd-party app to overclock/underclock the phone, will this mess up the whole system?
Anyone? Would really appreciate help!
i've been using megatron & setcpu together for the past month.. no issues yet, so cant promise ma phone wont go up in flames i clock extra if needed
Ok, thanks!
My Experience: USing LOL rom with default OC gave me kernel panics ...so instead i disabled OC in ROm and wud then OC using SetCPu...ALso I dont know why but touch feels a lot more smoother on LOL rom with the lag fix than megatron....so i switched from megatron to LOL...Currently even with maxCPu 480Mhz and conservative profile..touch is very smooth on LOL

How do I disable the OC in Megatron? By adding the "minitron" file and then using SetCPU?
Hi all,
I'm a newbie in Android world. Successfully flashed my O1 to Megatron v1. Afterwhich I tried installing SetCPU to it and overclock to 806mhz & above. However, after overclocking with SetCPU, the whole phone's performance became more sluggish than the original Megatron 729mhz...
Someone please advise me on how to overcome this and make the phone speedier with high frequency.
Is there a way to edit some of Megatron's kernel to make it 806mhz on default even without using SetCPU?
Don't use set on boot feature, it will make ur phone get stock on bootloop...
So can someone tell me how to proceed with this? I want to be able to change between 600 and 700, when I please. Thanks

Got it! Tried last night without set on boot feature. Working fine with 806mhz and speedier than 729mhz. However my chipset refuses to go into higher frequency without freezing and rebooting... Is it due to my microsd card? I'm still using the original 2gb microsd card tt came together with the O1... Will changing to a class 6 or higher microsd card let me clock higher? or my chipset is just lemon at 806mhz?

FnH84: I downloaded SetCPU from XDA forum and can tweak the frequency between 600 & 700 by myself. Even can set profiles to govern the speed at different situations.

You are already pushing the CPU to its limit with that 806 MHz frequency. Do you even realize is 34% above the designed specs for this CPU? You're already lucky enough you got it stable at 806, and no SD card will ever make a difference, they're not related.
How come Samsung Galaxy Mini running on the same chipset offer 800Mhz as stock???
Man, I don't know! How come the same "Pentium IV" processor could come in speeds from 1.3 GHz to 3.8 GHz?
Can any of you actually believe that LG would underclock an 800 MHz CPU and sell it to us as a 600 MHz instead of letting it run at its best?
Galaxy Mini is obviously using a CPU designed to run at 800 MHz, even though it bears the same name. And that one can probably be overclocked to above 1 GHz.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking bout the same as the other guy, that galaxy ace can run at 800mhz, and why not O1.
Hmm... Isn't there any other ways to push the frequency higher? Maybe supply more voltage to the core? I dont mind sacrificing batt life, I just wanna try ways to push it to the max~~
Guys... I just wanna know the reason behind the OC mechanism of P500 that does not allow it to OC beyond 729 MHz in stable form. .
Whereas the GT-540 with same CPU gets easily OC to 900 MHz.
Please somebody reply to this..

Because the HW (chip) is not rated to run at such frequency. If you are lucky, you will be stable @806MHz or whatnot. If you are not and got the less perfect silicon, they you will crash even @ 729. Nothing above the stock frequency is guaranteed.

Yep, it actually depends on the device itself.
Gt540 at 900 MHz have you looked at our forum on m6 we can't get past 806 stable oc some of us 844 tops anything past that unstable plus crashing constantly we all want the Max but its hard to achieve better to focus on swap ram io speed stability

I'm running stable at 787. Had a few crashes but I think it was the ROM because I reflashed and no problems since then.
i think it also depend of the kernel becuas with the first kernel there was for our phone i could go to 748 witho no problem then with matt kernel only to 729 above tha eventuality the phone crash with franco i could go to 768 but sometimes crash,so could be hw yes but the kernel also help and have a big part in oc...
thats what i think

It heats up very quickly with the new update 2.3 the
998 MHz microprocessor works all the time.
view with setcpu or temp+cpu v2
you check it is not normal
It is the work of the microprocessor in the update 2.3 Whenever
is at 998 mhz.
in 2.1 this happened I never ever was 245 MHz but is now only 998 mhz
any solution?
Are you sure?

I can not confirm that.
Pointed this out a while ago with no replies from anyone. If you look at time in state in setcpu, you see that both go up at the same time but more time is spent at 1ghz. My phone is staying cool though but I'm worried about the cpu working too much.

I was having same problem... heating and eating a lot of battery
I've found out that was an application that was killing it.... I've removed the app and now is rolling well...

As for me, 800 MhZ is enough for comfortable work.
Overclocking is needed only in "Heavy" games.

1024Mhz is stock speed and yes its safe to use.
If you using your phone only for calling/sms...then 800Mhz is enough.
For calls you can eaven use 600 and if you have your rom rooted you can set the voltage a bit lower.
But from my experience you can easy use the 1 ghz freq and the battery lasts long if you don´t use much your phone.
Neo works fine at 1.4 ghz from performance and battery.
If you use sio i/o and lagfree.
Depending on your CPU you could undervolt it at 1ghz and achieve the same results as it is on 800mhz. But yeah 1ghz is efficient enough just stay away from Live Wallpapers.
i run on stock tweaked perfect battery live on 1024 Mhz
