Am I correct in assuming that you have to have a flyer/view with S-Off to use this custom recovery?

None are created for it right now as far as I know

Used Revolutionary to get S-Off and Perma-Root and Flash this recovery. Everything worked perfectly!!!thanks

Any instructions on this? I tried putting this zip on the SD card and went into the Bootloader and nothing.

With "revolutionary" I get the S-OFF and the CWM (blue), but after installing this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175589 I lost the possibility to enter in recovery!
Installed this (orange?) and everything works fine!
Thanks

Anyway this recovery is an old file I guess (v4.0.0.5).
The newest is 4.0.1.4:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680
but is an .img file!
To bypass the terminal steps how can be converted the file.img in a PG41IMG.zip??

You can't easily. JUst follow the fasboot instructions and reflash with the later CWM. Its one command.

Ok! I was thinking to rename the image in recovery.img put in a folder and zip it!
Too much simple for be true!
It's better if I use the adb....

Since your flyer already soff, just zip you img recovery file and rename it to PG41IMG.zip, then put this file into the sd card root directory, reboot into boot loader mode, it should auto detect and flash

I did the zip as you said but the recovery is the same.
Can you try to the IMG.zip of the new recovery or the zip version for CWM?

Unable to flash CWM with Hboot 1.5

So... I really like TWRP but with it being closed down I figured eventually I'd have to switch to CWM so I may as well get adjusted to it now.
However, I'm unable to flash CWM on my Evo3D with hboot 1.5 using fastboot or through the bootloader. I can flash TWRP but flashing CWM just puts me in a bootloop... Anyone know how to fix this?
TWRP is closed down?

I'm protesting flashing until CM9 drops for the Evo 3D!!!
well... Not closed down as much as team win has stopped support for it. Eventually I'm sure I'll get another device and then ill be forced to use CWM

I never use Rom Manager, I always do everything from the Recovery itself.
It's not a homebrew, It's an official CWM from Revolutionary! Enjoy!
It's the only one I'll use now. Twrp 2.0 never flashed correctly for me. It always locked out my WiFi and 3g.

You can reboot your phone once you're done and delete the file with a file manager. The only issue you'll have is if you reboot the bootloader.

[Q] Trying to root EVO 4G LTE, not working

I've been trying to root my EVO 4G LTE using various guides from this board, and I'm not having a lot of luck. I have HBOOT 2.09 and it's S-ON. It seems like the easiest way to root the device is to go S-OFF, but then it appears that the device needs to be rooted to get S-OFF. So I'm a little confused at this point. I've unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP, but when I try to install the SuperSU root utility it gives me an error about mounting partitions and fails. My bootloader screen also displays "TAMPERED" which seems to be a problem but I'm not having a lot of luck finding a way to resolve it.
So... can anyone tell me what my next step is?
Thanks in advance.
Are you using Facepalm, Moonshine, or DirtyRacun? You haven't really provided enough details to help, at this point. What's your software version? I assume you're running the stock ROM?
I was running the stock ROM, I think it was 3.16. I tried using Facepalm but again it seems like it needs root to work which I haven't been able to achieve just yet. I tried installing the ROM from this thread through TWRP but it just hangs on the HTC screen so I'm not sure what's on there now. I can still get into the bootloader and recovery though.
You can't use Facepalm on 3.16 software. Use Moonshine.
Try flashing this stock rooted to get back to a working state: http://d-h.st/users/Captain_Throwback/?fld_id=10308#files
You may need to fastboot flash the boot.img to make sure it fully boots.
OK, I downloaded that ROM and extracted the boot.img. I booted the phone into the bootloader and ran "fastboot flash boot boot.img". It seems to have completed correctly, no errors at least, but now the phone just sits at the HTC screen with the red text at the bottom. Clearly I'm doing something wrong...
Did you flash the ROM too? Or did it reboot on you when you tried?
I just did the boot.img. Should I also do "fastboot flash zip 3.16.651.3_stock_rooted_odex_CPTB.zip"?

You have to flash the ROM in recovery.
Ok, so I went into recovery which is still TWRP, adb pushed that ROM to the phone then tried to install it. It gives a bunch of error messages about being unable to mount various items, says it's unable to find path for partition [name of the zip] and fails.
Thanks for your help and patience so far...
You do not extract the file, leave it as a zip and do not open it. Move it to your SD card while in fastboot (mount sd) and from there use twrp and select the correct zip to flash. But above all... DO NOT EXTRACT THE FILR

I don't understand what you're doing here. Boot to recovery, mount storage, copy the ROM zip over, and then flash it.
Ok, so I mounted storage from recovery, or least I tried to, my PC said it needed to be formatted. So I did so, copied the file over and flashed it which completed successfully this time. My phone now boots properly, I'll give Moonshine a try now. Hopefully I won't need to bug you again, thanks for all the help.

I'm having a little trouble with Moonshine. It reboots the phone a couple of times, gets to step 3 then just keeps printing periods in the program window. I've been reading through the Moonshine thread and it seems other people have had the same problem, but I haven't seen a solid fix yet. Anyone know what I need to do or should I stick with the Moonshine thread?

Unable to Install any Custom Rom

Hello all,
I am having issues installing any ROM on my HTC One Max. I have unlocked it using HTCdev, installed CWM, SuperUser, but have not bee able to set S-OFF.
However, I have not been able to install any rooms using the tradition way of installing the zip via the recovery or using fastboot. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.
What I did was rip the boot image from the Rom then install the Rom using clockwork then back into boot loader and flash the boot image using fastboot commands from pc then reboot into your Rom, from this i was able to s off !

Just curious if you were using firewater according to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632385 The reason I ask is that I was unable to get htcdev to unlock my phone (verizon) and rumrunner would not work. I was though able to use method 2 in the thread above to successfully work. I would also suggest that if you haven't read this http://androidrevolutions.com/neo/OneMaxStarter.docx I found it very helpful. I have now used firewater on two different One Max (international and Verizon phones) and feel fairly comfy that it will indeed work. FWIW.

Yees..
Without physically looking at your computer, I don't know what to tell you. Rename the recovery image to recovery.img, place the image where your fastboot files are, and it works for me. I'll make something that will auto flash this in the future, but it'll take a little while.
Try to download the recovery again... Maybe your file is corrupted.
