[Q] Miui 1.7.01 remove net disk App? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can i safely remove the chineese net disk App?
Becouse i realy dont know where its for and it only uses space.

If it's in /system/app, then it doesn't use space, /system is a different partition than the /data where all the apps you install go. So, no worries about space.
If unsure whether you should delete it or not, try freezing it with Titanium Backup first and monitor your phone's behavior afterwards.

[Q]can't execute non-system apps after restoring from recovery backup

My phone is LU3700, which is one of three korean versions of O1, and I don't think it differs a lot from P500 in this situation.
The recovery is ClockworkMod recovery v3.0.2.4
I backed up three times, and deleted former two backups because I was lack of space in SDcard.
All the downloaded apps and updated system apps such as market or helper won't be executed.
When I try to execute a problematic app, it says "Application is not installed on your phone"
In the settings->applications->manage applications, the list of apps is still there, and for each app Data/Cache are also there but Application isn't(0.00B)
I guess it could be just a simple problem like permission or configuration?
Even if all the applications are really gone, I can re-install them so it's not so big deal. I just want to save the time to install them.
Is there anything I could do in this situation?
P.S. Maybe there was too small space in the SD card when the third backup was made...I think I saw a message saying the backup was completed but I'm not so sure.
Oh, it IS a big deal since I can't use even market or helper(i frequently use it)...if not it's not possible to restore, could anyone teach me how to backup those data?
this happened to me too. i think that the part of the app that is located on the sd card got deleted (if i remember correctly, these "parts" should be located on /sdcard/.android_secure, which, for some reason, does not show its contents on the phone but only on the computer, at least for me). you can always backup your apps using titanium backup and i recommend keeping only one backup at a time so you dont get confused between each one and also for the sake of space. or, instead of using titanium backup for your apps, you can make a nand+android secure backup in recovery, which also does a backup of your app data (i think)
you can confirm all of this by plugging in your phone to the computer (usb mass storage) and check the /sdcard/.android_secure folder
edit: and as for trying to restore, if theres nothing in your android_secure folder, then you have to start from scratch (unless one of your nand backups was a nand+android_secure backup)
I'm afraid that's not the case. it is not only App2SD apps that aren't working right now. they used to work without SD before.
Flash the rom again. Start everything again.

Cannot restore system apps using Titanium Backup

I have an SGSII, rooted with Odin/CWM 4 and I cannot restore any system apps using Titanium Backup - it simply sits there saying 'Restoring App' and nothing happens. Normal apps can be restored OK. I tried changing the app processing mode in TB to Auto/Indirect but it didn't help.
Any ideas? I have TB Pro FWIW.
Can't you just restore systemdata? I assume the apps are there already.
ps you know the downside of restoring system apps?
I backed up and then uninstalled some system apps using TB Pro (TpLauncher, AccuWeather, etc.) but now I'd like to get some of them back. I assumed using the TB restore option was the way to go.
What's the downside of doing this? Can I restore these manually?
Same happened to me, I guess lesson is don't uninstall sys app unless you really don't want them.
Glad it's not just me and I have a nandroid so I can get everything back but it's annoying. I've reported it to the TB devs. If they come up with a solution I'll let you know.
I use root explorer backup the system apk, restore it when need it back.
what i do, is close titanium application then restart it again. then viola.
seems strange ... TB Pro always do the job for me
FWIW these were apps I first freezed, then uninstalled (without unfreezing). I wonder if this is relevant. Perhaps the permissions are screwed or something. If I could get a TB log I could find out. Hopefully the developers will help out.
Bump. Any updates on this? I'm having the same problem
Here is my reply from Titanium Backup support:
"We're sorry, system apps are critical and should not be removed in the first place. Some apps are tightly ROM bounded, while others are dependent on other system entities which could break things when they are removed. We have already provided the warning in the preferences that you will be held responsible of your own actions upon removing the system apps and we will not provide support for restoring them back. In most cases like this, you will have to reflash your ROM or restore your nandroid backup (you must always keep a nandroid handy)."
So in other words - tough sh*t! Not what I was expecting.
I restored my Nandroid and now only freeze apps, and they seem to defrost OK but after that reply I'm wondering if I should continue to use their product.

In fairness they are right, anyone who uninstalls system apps is asking for trouble why would you want to do that in the first place, you can simply freeze any apps you don't use instead, i have most of the Samsung bloatware frozen in Titanium as i don't use them and many of them are responsible for excessive battery drainage.
BTW Titanium Backup is probably the best overall app in the whole market and they always release updates, i highly recommend this app to anyone who doesn't already have it.
As a software developer myself if one of my apps didn't work correctly and a customer asked for help I would do my level best to get to the bottom of the issue instead of fobbing them off.
The app lets you uninstall system apps and restore them again - why would you want to? because on some devices space might be at a premium - I freed up 100MB on my previous device (Xperia Arc S) using this feature for example - which made a big difference.
Luckily I don't need the space on my SII but I'm surprised that the TB devs wouldn't want to find out what the issue is.

They know what the issue is. The outcome of removing an restoring system apps is just unpredictable. They gave a warning that it could cause unwanted results. Messing with roms gives unpredicted results.
Same thing happened to my Galaxy Pocket. I uninstalled system apps and can't restore them.
THE solution is wen u want to uninstall an system app den first of all make an back up of DATA of that system app and den go 2 loaction of app through root explorer in internal storage and copy that APK file to ur sd card as backup .
den delete the APK file mannualy or uninstall using titanium backup...
wen u want dat app again den copy the APK to its original old location of system /app and restore the data using titanium backup and just restart the phone..
hope it helps ...
Yes, I can restore system data

To be more thorough:
I am able to restore system data of an app but I can't restore an app.
In fact, if I locate the apk which titanium backup had backed up with a file browser and install it manually, it works fine! I can then restore data with titanium backup.
Issue on my Galaxy SII (no matter what ROM I use)
You shouldn't be restoring system apps at all/you shouldn't need to (the data may be another question though). Why are you wanting to restore system apps/which apps in particular ?

[Q] [Titanium BU] Am I using it correctly?

I purchased Titanium Pro. I know its an extremely efficient, powerful, and useful tool to have, especially for one that flashes often. But I am second guessing whether I am using it the right way. My current method seems a little bit tedious and inefficient.
Example, I do a full batch backup of my user apps & system data, easy enough. Then on a fresh ROM I would install TBU. But it doesn't seem I have a backup of my apps and data. I would then have to extract from nandroid backup. Then I would browse the created list and select the apps / data I want to restore. After restoration my user defined settings are gone, on default.
I have tried the complete batch backup. And via the same extract from nandroid backup, and rather than selecting each item, I just restored everything at once. Afterwards, I would experience strange things and a lot of FC. I suspected that may be because it was loading up apps/data that is not this newer ROM (ie apps that was baked in, ROM specific system apps), I don't know that this is the real reason because don't know enough to confirm it.
Am I using it correctly or is there a better way to it?
I use the free version, but I assume most things are the same. If you backed up all your apps and data, then I think maybe the memory storage was flipped around when you installed the new rom. Look in both your internal (emmc) and external sd cards for a folder called TitaniumBackup. This should hold all of your apk backups, along with the data associated with them. If you launch Titanium and nothing is found, then try copying that TitaniumBackup folder from the sd card it's currently located on over to the other sd card. All of your apps and data should then be found in the app under the Backup/Restore tab.
Edit: I assume you already know this but in the Backup/Restore tab, scroll down the list until you get to the crossed out apps. Those are the ones that you have backed up but not currently installed.
Make sure you save your backup to sdcard. And if you flash a new Rom. You don't normally want to restore system files.

Sometimes even restoring apps + data can cause certain apps to FC or misbehave. But as they have said make sure your backups are in the SD card

TB sucks! i recommend Ultimate Backup Pro. it's about 100 times better and easier to use. TB is overrated. while UBP is underrated ):

Need help apps behaving strangely

OK I was restoring this phone by reflashing it stock + rooting for my own reasons.
So I restored my +- 200 apps with titanium backup.
When I start my phone normally all apps would be visible (and on occasion they are and work fine)
The missing apps for as far as I know are located on SD-card Internally (not the real ext sd card) I think this is known as USB storage? (i used move to the sd card in titanium (but we know its not the real SD-card) Therefore remounting the EXT - sd card has 0 effect.
Anyway I dont know why these apps wont continue to show! I cant even find them anymore in application manager
what I do notice in application manager is Greyed out apps that say com.xxxxx.xxxxx and There are quite a few of them I believe these are the missing apps.
How can I restore these greyed out apps? (notice sometimes they are working fine!)
Thanks.
Delete them and restore with out data. Just the app. See if that helps.
Bump! dont know what is going on!
Go back to stock and restore apps with playstore. See if that helps

I delete adobe flash player it was greyed out. Nothing changed? Restore with out data what u mean?

Some of these apps arent from playstore...I use blackmart too and modded google playstore. BUT this problem was before I installed this modded google play store so its not about that.
How would this help me?? I cant restore like 40 apps 1 for 1.. some have really weird name in storage too! hardly recognisable.
Same here mate but you can't restore apps and data with titanium bkup if you have used say 4.3 and you restore apps and data on 4.2.2 you will end up with problems. This is why I've said restore apps without data. Once restored reboot the phone and should be ok. That's what I do and have no problems

List of Bloatware that can be Removed?

Is there any List of Bloatware what i can Remove, to get more Space and Battery Life? I have succesfully rooted my Phone and like to remove all the preinstalled Apps (because i never use it).
I don´t like to remove to much and then get Errors on my Phone
You dont need a list..... Install Link2SD, SD Maid, Titanium Backup, ROM Toolkit Lite and with Titanium you can uninstall every single app from your device but dont remove the core apps tho
You can remove anything on the list on this script and I'm sure that it works.
Thank you ardentis, that´s exactly what i´m looking for.
I will try it and see what happen
