Ringtone reset - Motorola Droid X2

Anyone else getting a glitch where the phone changes the ringtone to default ring? I am not sure of the cause, but I was thinking it might be a side effect of setting the phone to usb mass storage mode. considering if I do that then it will erase all shortcuts to apps stored on my sd

If your ringtone is in your sdcard and you connect your phone to USB, the phone unmounts the card to be used on the computer. You may need to reboot the phone for it to see the custom ringtone is back in the designated location. One option you have would be to move the ringtone on to your internal storage area... then, select the ringtone you want while the phone is connected to USB.
Seen this on the OG Droid.

I tried moving the file to system, but it only recognizes it as a buzzer noise. I made the ringtone with ringdroid, but could it not be recognizing mp3s? All the phones rings are in ogg format.

Try this: open your music app and then choose one of your custom ringtones. While it's playing, press the menu hard key and select "Use as ring tone". Then go back into your Sound settings, and your custom ring tone should show up.

Well to make things weirder, I used the stock music program and set the song the ringtone is based off of to be the ringtone. That seems to work fine, I also tried setting it from ring droid and that worked fine too. I think perhaps its files edited by ringtone editors causing the error as odd as that sounds.
My reasoning is that on my last phone I used a different editor that allowed for fading. When I tried to play the song after making them in the editor they all failed to play. This seems like similar behavior to me. both were rooted droid x2s

I had a similar problem a while back.
I was using ringdroid to make a ringtone from a mp3, it would play in music but wouldn't when I received a call.
I was sniping the selection of the song from 0.00 to 45.00. For some reason the problem was caused by sniping at 0.00. I tried again but this time I started the ringtone at 0.5 and it worked perfectly.
Worth a shot.

I have a 30 second ringtone clip I made (don't remember if it was Ringdroid or mp3 trimmer) and my DX2 resets to the default every now and then too. After re-selecting the tone it will play it again though. Very annoying!

Mp3 as ringtone won't stay!

I can set an mp3 as a ringtone, but when I switch the phone off and on again, the ringtone has reset to a default ring.
Anyone know what I need to do?
I have the same problem
My phone is from Orange, where is yours from?
What the hell could the problem be, it makes no sense...
Why dont you download ringdroid from the market its free. It allows you to trim mp3s and create ringtones from them. It will also set a created ringtone as your default ringtone.
Just tested it and no problem after power off.
I used default music player, then menu, set as ringtone and it is working after power off. I got sim free phone.

Thanks for the work-around but I would like to know why my phone has this probem, especially as it may be part of a wider more serious issue...
If anyone else has this issue, please state what model you have.
Edit: Just tried Ringdroid and it works a treat! Still not happy with having to download it though...
My phone is from UK, handtec.co.uk and is a white sim-unlocked. And the ringtone resets to the default after i reboot my phone I will try ringdroid, hope it works.

Audio files?

I have ringtones and alert tones showing up twice in my list, which is annoying, I also have all those tones as well as podcasts showing up in my audio player, mixzing, stock and power amp. I don't have those directories checked in any players. Can anyone tell me how to remedy this? I'm guessing it's from flashing Roms and restoring but couldn't find a fix that would work.

I hate to bump me own op.it feels dirty, but someone throw me a bone. I tried /no-media then tones don't show up in picker, unchecked unwanted directories no go.
Don't blame, blame my keyboard's autocorrection algorithm.

[Q] Extend ringtone playback??

Ive been searching for a half hour on xda. now there are a lot of threads that talk about extending how many times your phone rings before going to voicemail, but thats not what im looking for.
im wondering if its possible to extend ringtone playback.....for example:
lets say you create a ringtone with ringdroid, then apply it as your ringtone. when someone calls you, your phone will only playback the first 15seconds of your ringtone, then it will pause, and loop back to the beginning of the first 15sceonds.
So my question is:
Is there anyway to get rid of the 15 second limit and just have it play the ringtone straight through without looping until voicemail kicks in?
Make a longer ringtone?
Edit..i see you say it will only play the first 15 secs no? Will investigate.
Second edit: yeah I got 20 secs counting on fingers...which is probably really 15..so now I'm wondering the same thing.

This does not happen on my stock/rooted JI6 phone. It plays the entire song until it goes to VM.

So you just took a song and applied it as your ringtone as-is through the default settings? You didn't edit it with any app first?

I actually took part of the song, (edited with ringdroid, about a 1 min 35 sec) and i saved it as a ringtone mp3 format, you can choose different formats, maybe you used a format that is limited in time? are you sure the tone is longer that the time it takes to loop?

Ahhhh you could be on to something with the file format....I'll report back
Edit: yup, you nailed it bud...instead of saving it as a "ringtone" just save it as "music"

Reactivate the system sounds

Greetings, I have a problem with my wildfire with cyano nightly. I do not know how, but a couple of days I have no system sounds. When you turn on or off the screen and when I was writing the sounds emitted. Not any more. I upgraded to the 231, I also tried to turn everything I could, but I have not solved. For the rest of the phone works and then I think I have busted some settings, but do not know what.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Try volumes control. And switch system volume to max.
Some game use system volumes as volumes than media volumes. It may be the problem.

In Settings \ Audio \ Volume I have Ringer, Multimedia Applications and Alarm at the most.
The sounds of the games work ...
In in System \ Media \ Audio folder there are Alarms, Notifications, Ringtones and UI.
All folders containing music files .ogg.
In folder UI are just the sounds that are missing ...
Reflash Rom without wiping may solved this problem (sorry, I just got what you meant.)

[Q] Tasker script to solve headphones/incoming call/notification issue

Anyone able to create a profile to solve the issue we have with our note. The issue is the following,
If headphones are plugged in and we get an incoming call, the ringtone will play on both speaker and headphones.
If headphones are plugged in and we get a notification, the sound will only play through speaker.
I tried to do a basic script that has headphones plugged in and incoming call for context, then set ringer volume to 0 and play music ringtone.mp3. Add exit task to for the opposite, raise ringer volume, stop music.
The problem is, it worked, if I didn't have music playing already when I get an incoming call, which is the whole reason why I would have headphones plugged in to begin with. The task successfully sets the ringer volume to 0 so at least it didn't play on the speaker, but then nothing would play on the headphones, and the music I was playing would pause (like it's supposed to), but the ringtone I specified didn't play. Ending the call resumes the music I was playing.
Anyone willing to shed some insight on this?
This issue is next on my list. I believe it is an issue with how the phone distinguishes what the sound is. ..phone vs media...hard to explain
