Charging while powered off on CM7?? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently flashed CM7 and I have noticed that when I power the device off and plug the AC wall charger into it the phone automatically rebooted itself to the homescreen and will not charge while powered off regardless of what I do. I was just wondering if anyone else was having this problem and if there are any known remedies for this issue? Thanks.

me too
I have galaxy s 2 with miui and that won't charge when off, which is not good when battery totally drained, as now can not charge phone
had to buy 2nd battery, did you find a solution?
May go back to stock rom and try

Just fyi jt resolved this months ago. It had something to do with the kernel if I remember correctly. Any kernel from mid August on should be resolved.

Charging problem

So I unfortunately ended up with the charging bug.
When I put my phone In the wall charger it doesnt want to charge. The charging indicators all turn on but I still lose battery.
I've tested the cord and charger on my friends phone and they work. I've also put in a different battery with the same result. Also booted into safe mode.
Help?

Have u installed any app after which this prblm started?

Replace the phone?
I've never had that problem, so have no clue. But if rebooting and pulling the barry doesn't do it, I'd take it to sprint.
What's the rating of charger u are using?

Stock charger my friend.
No apps because it started on the aokp job build 8. I switched back to stick rom but even that didn't help

Yes I think u r right but you see, we guys are not professional or experts. So we can only suggest some possible solution my friend.
And if someone is in trouble, these possibilities can lead him/her to the solution of the problem..
I hope u understand...

I would try reverting back to stock, and if that doesn't work, then i would get a replacement. Sounds like a hardware issue.

Charging but discharging

This doesn't make sense. My phone is charging but my battery is discharging. I've changed batteries but it's not the issue.
What could it be?
Thanks

I have no idea why the screen was on last night.

Some, if not all ROMs have a feature to have screen on while charging, is that what you're describing?
No my phone doesn't charge the battery when it says charging... I've changed batteries but issue is still there

That's a weird situation, somehow your battery just isn't getting voltage. Get an external charger, they sell 2 batts and an external charger for less than $20 on amazon.

I actually had the same issue when I first installed a custom rom on my s3. All I had to do to fix it was run a quick nandroid restore. Other's that I've talked to who had this issue told me to try different kernels, specifically kernels designed around battery life. Hope this helps

I would flash back to a stock ROM and start there. Make sure it is not hardware before you start changing software settings.
Can i flash a stock rom with 9% with odin mobile lol
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I'd try putting it on USB charge first. It might just be your charger has gone US rather than anything to do with the phone OS or software. Looking at those first screenshots I'm wondering about the 'discharging' 'charging' going on. To me that sugests the charger itself is not staying on charge mode.
The SIII gets 'stuck' sometimes says Samsung, they said it was a software issue so hopefully they'll fix it soon
Possible temp fix: turn off phone (works 90% of time for me)

Flashed stock ics an hr ago and I'm up to 30% that's the highest it's gotten to in the last 24 hrs. So think it's safe to say I'm back in business.
Very strange behaviour though!

I think that your charger is bad. Try some rooted jb os with latest siyah kernel, then try to charge your phone with usb. Latest syiah kernel have tweaked usb charge to 900mA. You have managed to recharge a little bit because ics has weaker wireless than jb.
Sory for my bad english
Cant be bad charger because I've tried 2.
As soon as I flashed stock t-mobile ics the charging went back to the way it should be.
Was running latest overcome jb. Was working fine. Something must of gotten corrupted?
Only thing that fixed it was flashing stock.
Anyway crisis averted. Just glad Im not having to send it away to samsung.

[Q] Usb not being recognized on anything.

I have an AT&T Samsung galaxy S2. Im running showstock 3 with AJK v4 kernel. No matter what i plug my phone into it will not recognize it, only charge. I have tried my head unit in my truck, my home stereo receiver, ps3, and pc. I have searched for weeks and tried everything. I also just recently replaced the usb charging port, still nothing. I think it has something to do with software. Please help.
Did you try a different usb cable? They can be finicky...
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Yep I tried many different cables. Even bought a different kind, and tried every possible port on each unit.
[Edit] Im not to sure if it might have something to do with STweaks. But I reset that app and started from scratch. Last thing I have yet to try it factory reset.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
That or flash all the way back to stock and see if problem still exists if it does its something hardware. If not I would start from there and root and fresh install.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Its a problem with your ROM
Even I am looking for a solution, when I restore it to the stock ROM it starts getting recognized but after I restore t back to avatar ROM, it stops working g.
I've been using shostock ROMs since they came out. I updated to shostock 3 a couple months ago and was working fine up until a week ago. Only thing I've changed was kernels. I'm using the ajk the one. Is there another kernel anyone would recommend?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
What version of AJK are you using? It's up to 4.3 no recognized issues here. And I'm running SHOstock 3.0 .2
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
3.9
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Just installed 4.3. Have to wait to get out from work to see if it changed anything.
[Update]
Updated to shostock 3.0.2 and updated kernel. USB worked a few times and now its back to where it was. Nothings popping up, all its doing is charging.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Sounds like a intermenten hardware issue but you could try flashing back to stock and start from scratch.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Did that and again the same thing. I replaced the USB charging port and still did the same thing after. Is there something else, hardware wise, that could be bad?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Make sure the use hub port has the right version number.. Check the ribbon connection.

What is the "REV" of the new charging port you installed?
I mean REV 2.3 OR REV 2.2 ?
I read on a thread here, that REV2.2 replacement doesn't work. But the REV2.3 work correctly.
