I went from getting 24-30hrs the first week to only 12-13hrs after the update! Ugh, is it just my phone or is this common?
Not me... Try doing a factory reset, Some apps do drain the battery fairly quick.

I am having a huge battery drain problem since this morning. I didn't install anything new, but have been seeing this "Download will start when connected to a Wi-Fi network" message in the notification bar since this morning. I unplugged at 8:00am at 100% charge. It is 3:00pm now, and the battery is at 34%
I am running gingerblur, so didn't update the phone when it prompted me early this morning.
Is anyone else seeing this issue?
Edit: Looking at the phone usage, I see Time spent without sleeping : 7 hours ??? The display does turn off, but looks like the phone does not go to sleep. It is 3:05 pm and the battery is at 30%....
Exact same issue here

I've been playing a lot of N64oid but my battery has drained way faster than it normally does. Granted, I haven't had it too long but the first couple of charges were breathtaking. Now I'm draining much quicker than usual despite the update being advertised as making the battery last longer...
I had the same problem. Owned the **** out of my battery. I finally just said what the hell and installed the update. My guess is its continually polling for wi-fi.
I had the same issue when I did flash. I did another fresh flash and it fixed the issue. I think when flashing the sbf something messed up.
Im at 14 hours now and 20% left. I streamed pandora a good 4-5 hours at work also.

Same here, since OTA update to 1.84.110.3.
I have been getting huge battery drain problems installing the update and re-rooting it. Today I disconnected my phone from the charger at 100% at 8:46 AM and now its 12:06 PM and the battery is down to 38%.
I have tried wiping out the battery stats using the "BatteryCalibration" app in the Market. I don't have CWM installed but I hear that CWM has an option in there to wipe out battery stats as well.
A few questions that might help me in the future.
1) When flashing a new update or re-rooting, should you perform this only when the battery is at 100%? When I dled the latest OTA update and re-rooted, my batter was around 50%. I don't know if for some reason the phone used 50% as its battery memory.
2) Is the BatteryCalibration app any different than the CWM battery stats wipe?
This is really frustrating since my battery was working way better before this last update even though I wasn't rooted. I wonder if rooting is the problem. Any help is appreciated.

I think I found out what the problem might be. It seems to pretty prevalent among users who have the "Widgetlocker" app installed from reading the Motorola and Android forums. People were saying once they uninstalled the app, their battery life dramatically improved and was back to normal.
I just uninstalled the Widgetlocker app so I'll see if this fixes the battery drain issue.
Upgraded to lollipop officially and battery drain is something crazy im talking like 10% if the phone is being used for about 10 mins and flashing back to earlier version doesnt do the trick any ideas????? seriously just considering getting rid of the phone entirely!!!!!!! ERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! Not really Looking to purchase a ZeroLemon but if need be i will
Did you upgrade without doing an FDR? It's probably a misbehaving app. I'm getting great battery life, but I backed up my phone and apps and data first, then did an FDR and upgrade.
So I bought this tablet a couple of months ago and was always amazed by its battery. I could leave the tablet on for days and days that the battery would hold without any problems.
Suddenly and out of nowhere, I started to notice battery drain while the tablet is idle. I would charge it at night and next morning I would have less 30%, something that never happened before. This with Wi-Fi off and pretty much everything else. I know there's always consumption but these numbers don't make any sense.
Recently 7.0 came out, I decided to give it a shot to see if it would fix it. Did nothing, tablet is exactly the same. After installing the new OS version, wiping data and cache, disabling all the unnecessary features I could think of.
Also tried to go back to stock 6.0.1 and the problem is still here. Since nothing helped right now im back to 7.0. I have no apps other than the stock ones and I'm running out of ideas here.
Mine too, on 7.1.2 Nougat custom ROM drain like hell even if the tablet it's shutting down, charged at 100 % in the evening and in the morning after boot remaining only 75 %.
Clean install with wipe and everything !
I don't know what's causing this behaviour !
Haven't been here in a while, sorry.
I tried everything and since nothing fixed it, I contacted the store and used the warranty, they sent me a new one. Apparently it's a known problem and they were very quick stating that it couldn't be fixed.
Maybe you should try the same, if you haven't already..
Hi
How is the battery life and performance on oreo compared to nougat on tab s3? I'm worried that the oreo update will decrease battery life and performance, so I haven't updated it yet. I read many posts about the oreo update messing up the battery life of Samsung s8 phones, so I'm very sceptical about the oreo update.
Thank you in advance!
In my opinion, the battery consumption is far more worse, than I've expected.
But that's no big news, because it is/was the same with the nougat/oreo update on the galaxy s9.
Got the v8.0.0 April 1 2018 update yesterday. So far zero issues.

But is it significantly worse than with nougat as the os on the tab s3.
A couple of days in and battery life seems to be a lot better than with the previous OS version. I find I don't have to plug in again until well past lunch time where as before I was plugging in at lunch time. So better battery life and the UI is feeling a little crisper and faster.
Sorry long time irregular user here but on my US wifi only S3 9.7 if that's what we're talking about here, the battery usage is waaay worse than it was before the update 2 days ago which I thought previously was excellent. I don't buy tablets to tweak them but it seems like I have to do something, I did try a list of tips I think I found here when I got the device in December I'll try to dig up, assuming that doesn't work I'll be in here asking noobishly how to roll it back.
I did not do a factory reset after the upgrade from nougat to oreo.... It's still lagging.
I have done nothing after the upgrade and continue to have superior battery life than before.

Negative. Did the upgrade and restarted the tablet. I don't do factory resets.
Oreo improved my s3's speed, minimal lag now. The battery does appear to have taken a small hit tho.
Mines turned into a lag fest and the battery is shocking. Its made a top of the range tablet into a dog.
Upgraded to oreo yesterday (Verizon U.S.). No reset here. Battery life seems worse. 10% drained sitting on my desk for 5 hrs doing nothing, mobile data turned off, wifi 'never' on during sleep.
Battery drain is fine for me. Looks better than before.. Stock WiFi not Verizon.
Update: After a few days of battery drain, things seem to have stabilized now. I seem to remember seeing something in Battery settings stating 'determining battery usage' or something similar. So maybe it takes some time to get straight, but all seems normal now.
That said, why was Oreo even released? I see no serious added features or performance gains. Only a few surface changes. But hey, at least we now have numbered badges. Big deal.
