As soon as the SE logo appears, press it repeatedly as in twice a second, and it should work.

maybe you don't have the busybox installed...
I did root my x10 using z4root permenant rooting and busy box was ok and xrecovery worked fine automatically..
used the custom rom freedom 8b and back to the original SE rom ,, which amazed me great work,,
now I used the custom rom black freedom 7a and the xrecovery wont install either automatically nor manually !! am kinda stuck with this rom,, tried rerooting and rebooted million times..
If anyone can help would be grateful
Thanks
manually copy the 3 files (chargemon, xrecovery, etc) into the /system/bin folder and make sure that you have the version of busybox from the market installed.
to manually copy these files u will need root explorer and make sure that you are mounted in RW mode.
I just did that and it works! Woo hoo!! Runs a treat with linpack around 33, still hasn't fixed the stuttering audio but hoping se will sort that in next update... fingers crossed

Xrecovery not working after latest stock rom
Xrecovery is definitely not working on my X10i after I stupidly re-installed the latest stock Rom... I have done all the normal steps and it now does not work... I have previously had various roms on this phone and now Xrecovery is not working im worried I'm stuck with the stock rom. Now don't ask me to press the back button and copy the files into the System folder...I've done all that I'm telling you there is something in the latest stock rom to block it in my opinion.

I think you should re-install Xrecovery with flash tool
Sorry for english and it doesn't solve your problem I'm sorry
I'm a little stuck here and I'm not sure how this happened. I'm using a rooted X10a. I tried installing XRecovery and BusyBox so I could change ROMs again (I've tested a few) and somewhere along the way somthing happened and now after the phone boots, it doesnt recognize the SD Card, there is no notification/status bar and an Force Close message pops up "Process system is not responding". Then after a few minutes, it reboots itself. I've finally be able to connect it to Droid Explorer. The normal "holding the back button while plugging in the data cable" is not putting the phone into flash mode. I'm at my wits end, as I have been dealing with this for 2 days. Please if anyone has any ideas, any help would be appreciated. I really miss my Android
Conflict caused by double install of busybox? Or are you entirely sure it wasn't installed anymore? What happened to me was, I totally forgot that I already had busybox installed (though, not visible) and what happened was it conflicted with the other busybox/xrecovery hence breaking xrecovery and giving me almost the same symtoms you are experiencing. Unfortunately for you, I was able to just get into flashmode.. I take you tried SEUS?
What rom are you on ?
Sounds like you have messed up your xrecovery path.
Once you install xrec you dont need to install busybox as it depends on a certain version. I sugest you read z's xrecovery thread for more answers.
Hope you get it sorted.

Yes, but since the SD card won't mount because I have no notification bar it won't connect properly

you broke the xrecovery dude cause you installed again xrec and busybox...
if you install 2.2 above dont re install xrec again..
flash again (clean flash) take off your battery for 30 sec and put your usb cable in phone and hold the back button then insert the battery..
gudluck..
Is there by chance another way to put it in to flash? Plugging in the usb cable, then holding the back button while putting in the battery will not work

open the flashtool click flash, select firmware click ok.
then do again my instructions above.
I click "Flash" in the flash tool but when I go to select the firmware, it does not show up where I put it. Do i need a certain format of file?
You have to download the firmware and flashtool from here. To get the phone in flash mode follow X10b directions
i had the exact same problem in wolfbreak's 2.2 rom after i installed busybox again, it wouldn't flash with flashtool, etc, what i did to fix it was after it was booted, i opened flashtool and connected the usb, and after it said process system not responding i pressed wait, then clicked on flashtool install root, next to flash button, it installed and then it rebooted, then after it rebooted, i clicked on ask root perms, then the superuser thing popped up and i pressed allow, then quickly i clicked on flashtool install xrecovery, and it installed!!! Then I rebooted and xrecovery worked, so I restored a nandroid backup I had and then my phone was back to normal
I had this problem after editing chargemon in windows. Copy the chargemon from recovery.zip using adb push, then chmod 06755. Thats work for me

Just finished flashing and it's working perfectly. Thanks to everyone who helped out. I really appreciate it
Thread closed, please post in the correct sections.
Excuse me if this is explained anywhere and I'm just to dumb to find it, Forum Search didn't get me the answer:
I come from the Galaxy S and wanted to install a more featered ROM to my gilrfriends mini pro since I bought it to her and she saw me doing rom stuff on my phone, but only in the last time I read of fully working ROMS (last thing was the cam) because I didn't want her to bother (me) with stuff not working
Now I wanted to install SonyBread, but I'M stuck at installing CWM... I used the apk installer, and the flash tool, but nothing works, CWM nor xrecovery is booting when I hit the back key at SE logo. When I'm searching for the chargemon file, there seems to be the right one there (code says so) and recovery.tar is present. Phone is definetly rooted!
What am I doing wrong? Is it just I'm too into the Galaxy S and just can't see the obvious? And why can't I find a clean install guide for CWM to 2.1.1.C.0.0? Most ROMS say they are for this firmware and have to be installed through CWM, so there MUST be a way..
I hope this is not a to dumb question (but I really didn't find any help through search) and someone can help me, thanks in advance
first Xrecovery via AAIS (search XDA) then install cwm via xrecovery. It's really simple, trust me
use flashtool 0.2.9.1 beta to root and install busybox & xrecovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10738287
then flash cwm:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105745
I've tried both, nothing works. I get xRecovery, but as soon as I flash CWM, I cant get into it...
I tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1105745. I press the back button repeadetly, but nothing happens for CWM...
I also tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106146 as it looks like its specificly for mini pro, but it needs CWM to install... how am I supposed to install CWM only through CWM?? This makes no sense to me I even tried the manual copy method from this side, but it seems that CWM doesent recognize the back key pressed...
I dont know whats the problem, maybe I try to recover through SEUS and start everything over on a fresh firmware, maybe some testing messed something up.
I cant find any information, if I have to do anything else for 2.1.1.C.0.0 firmware, maybe I have to edit something for chargemon?

are you sure you successfully copied those files to the right folders, and changed their permissions correctly? i suggest you to try again slowly, step by step with extreme attention

Jep I'm very sure about the files and permissions, even double checked them with root explorer and file expert...
Anyway, I found THIS and -for whatever reason- it installed CWM correctly, and I was able to get around everything. Up and running SonyBread
Thanks for your help, and maybe the next time its necessary, I'll try this 2.1.1.Clean.0.0 firmware. Sounds like Darky's Resurrection Edition for my Galaxy S, and this ALWAYS worked
nice to hear you solved it, congrats
Hi, sorry if posting in wrong section
Im currently stuck in bootloop after modifying framework-res.apk.
Phone is of course rooted, used root explorer to paste the framework-res.apk, renamed the original one.
I have googled around a bit, and im pretty confused
Any ideas how to make it boot?
Thanks!!
As it is stuck in a bootloop , all u can do is flash a stock Rom again, I find this is the only solution or may be u can push stock framework if available using adb!!

First, thanks for the replies !!!
I messed around with fastboot a little yesterday, and i have a little problem installing it. I finally figured out how to install the drivers, but I cant get adb open, it just closes after clicking on it
How can I get this work?
First of all you should have set right permissions for the file before restart
ADB starting only from command line, and if you use Vista or Seven just right click on the folder where ADB is situated and type "ADB"
use SEUS ... it's the easy way ...
um isnt that for older SE phones? Or maybe im wrong
I couldnt find anything about it..
Ok I finally got ADB working, however it cant find my phone :/
I connected it via fastboot (?), like holding down vol-up and plug in USB, phone gets a blue notification light up left.
Is this the right mode? Drivers should be working just fine according to device manager..
Thx

Change the permission of the file which you have copied.

hello.. im also stuck in boot loops.. so how can i fix this using adb tools ??? plsss help :\

may be you wrong to set permissions
sir please please please help me i have micromax A110 i have same problem but i have backup my data and it is in internal sd card i have backup data through clockword recovery but no luck it is just boot lopping please someone help
Lol this happends never, because i know how to modify framework-res.apk properly (lol), i build a flashable zip on my phone always to make sure it copied, and have a flashable zip with framework-res.
Well, the easiest solution is to reflash the ROM/framework-res.
Jader13254 is right, you should always have a rescue strategy before messing around with something like framework-res.apk. It sounds like you don't have cwm recovery installed, which sounds particularly crazy. The bootlooping is going to make it difficult to use adb or android commander or anything similar with out recovery. If you have cwm you have some options to push the working framework onto the phone, but with out cwm, I think you can only use SUS/SEUS/PCC or flashtool to repair your phone. Just check for any of the guides for rooting, unbricking, updating ,etc your device.
Hi all.
I need some help and advice.
Being new to phone tinkering i dont want to do it wrong first time round.
My SE X10i is currently running gingerbread 2.3.3 but its rooted.
I would like help putting my phone on something better as the internets slow and lags a lot.
Im happy to try anything to make this phone as it could be or should be.
I dont know what rom to use or kernel as this is my first time doing anything to any phone.
AS you can guess im asking as i dont want to brick my phone on the first attempt.
If this is in the wrong place i applogise now.
Thanks if you can help.
I hate being a noob at something.
I can give more info if needed.
Thx wraith36
The internet will be always laggy. Very smooth browser is opera mobile. However the stock ROM itself is very laggy. I would recommend you to install some custom ROM. If you already have rooted phone it will be very easy to change the ROM. Just install xrecovery via flashtool (when the phone is turned on) and download ROM you want. Every ROM thread will have an exact installation guide. P. S. If you want to change kernel you have to unlock bootloader.
I could send you some necessary files to do that and guide you through unlocking the bootloader and the ROM change.
Just choose the ROM you want to have
Use this tool forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1415600
Thanks for the help jakuburban
I will have a look into the ROM's and see what's what.
Do you recommend any.
I used FlashTool_0.2.9.1-GBready_root_xRec to root my phone, is that right?
I did the loader part with this and the kernel part also with FlashTool.
Well I hope I have.
You can send me what you think might help.

Root the Device Install Xrecovery and CWM from the tool
and then u can decide on what Roms to Update...
Oh, You've done already almost everything. Now You just have to install xRecovery and choose which kind of ROM would You like> MIUI or a stock based ROM.
MIUI is a little bit slower but it has more options like themes etc
Stock based ROM looks almost like the stock ROM but this is the fastest one
MIUI I am using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377633
Stock based ROM I used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399040
After You downloaded flashable ROM You have to enter the xRecovery and flash it.
INFO: When changing to MIUI erase the data
OK I got all the info you have posted.
How do I add xRecovery
Do I download that to and install it or is that in my phone already?

the file I've sent You contains folder named system.
in system are folders called bin and xbin.
Get into bin folder and copy the files (with root explorer) to Your /system/bin/*here the files
That's what I meant with bin/ > system/bin/

Most of the ROM's should work with the stock kernel, but I would suggest You to stick to the KERNEL the developers are suggesting. For me the best ROM is Doomkernel, because it works with MIUI and a stock ROM and also has overclocking
So the link you gave at the start for MIUI will that have the KERNEL with it or separate?
Sorry to bug you with all this.
