I hope these are great news for owners
Great finding!!
But to have multitouche we all need the 2.1 so... until the end of the year it will be all the same.
But, really... the x10 mini was designed to be a one and operated phone, so the multi-touch only be interesting on web navigation maybe...
SE thought it would be just one handed, but not everyone thought that way. I like playing drums, piano etc and would love to have multitouch
Hi guys.
I've had sarah (my Nokia 6020) since God-knows-when (!), and so I'm not familiar with the modern cell phones and their characteristics.
I really like X10, but its lack of multi-touch is a little annoying, and some friends have told me to buy a phone which supports multi-touch.
I wanna know what exactly I will miss if I buy X10 and ignore its lack of multi-touch? Is it only important in games? How frequently games use multi-touch and is it impossible to play multi-touch games in X10?
Thanks.
Hi - Basically - it's only certain games which really need to use multitouch.. ones where you have to do 2 things at once.. there are some options to overcome this in certain cases, such as using a Wii Remote paired with your phone.. Personally I am not bothered at all about the lack of multitouch, because there are lots of games you can get which don't need MT... There are many good reasons to get one which, for me at least far outway the lack of MT.
At first I was hesitant to buy the X10 cuz it didn't support MT as well. It's a big step for me cuz I've never used a smart phone before but I do know lots about it lol. To be honest, I really don't think multi touch is an important feature, unless you're really into games that needs it. I've had the X10 for almost a month now and I absolutely love it there are great games in the App store that doesn't need multi touch like Radiant, Abduction, Totemo, etc etc. You should definitely get Rachael, you won't be disappointed
Not really, but there is talk about that in 2.1, but we don't talk about that here... MT is a taboo topic

lack of mt is quite bad for gaming. example game like pspxdroid for playing pspx game and other action game. the point is a problem is a problem if u think is a problem. if you really want a phone with mt , end of the day it just going to come and hunt you if u get a x10 if u dun mind wait for 2.1 and see is there mt which some said there is, if not you can get desire or galaxy s which both are great phone.
Do you use your phone to call people...?
I do, and I don't need multi-touch for that.
If you're coming from an old dumb-phone, either you don't need multi-touch, or you're expecting your new phone to change your life in ways you never thought possible.
Trust me, the x10 will not change your life in ways you never thought possible, and no, you don't need multi-touch...
Thank you everyone, your opinion is really helpful.
Considering the fact that I'm a gamer, I think MT will be needed for me someday, but I understand I shouldn't overvalue it.
Why is it making a decision about a cell phone to buy is so hard? It's a lot easier with PCs, laptops, wives, Digicams, MP3 Players, ...
I studied a lot about X10 and MT and I'm almost certain that there will be no MT for X10 (SE made it clear 5-6 days after the rumor about MT in 2.1 started).
Ah, and every phone has its pros and cons and it makes no sense to consider them as "taboo".

there have also been reports of the touch panel manufacturers saying that they can enable MT on their ST pad with trickery too.
so i wouldnt believe anything anyone says for now. and just wait.
but if you are a 'gamer' then buy a psp or something.. its a mobile phone not a console/gaming pc
The point is that multitouch for as i know is used in web browsers and in games.Someone correct me if i am wrong. So if you would like to play the you should buy a PSP or Nintendo or whatever portable console, for more than one reason. My PSP's battery for example lasts up to 5 hours of intense gaming, and you still have the phone for calling, internet and so on.The control is better on the handheld console with or without multitouch.
But... since almost all smartphones have multitouch it whould be nice to have this feature even if i would not use it often.
So the bottom line is that i have a PSP for gaming so i really do not need the multitouch feature.
I'm playing Diablo 1 on psx4droid and haven't noticed any problems so far (except laggy video and sound stuttering which seems to be common for most devices). Good native android games are yet to come. If you're looking to play some decent games now, then go for PSP.
And by the way, HTC also stated there will be no mt for G1 so we shall see...

I guess none of the above. Why would they bother with adding custom driver if the device was Synaptics compatibile?

Does your wife know she's third in your list, eh? Lmfao!
The lack of hardware support for MT if true is a puzzling omission on the part of SE. The IPhone has had MT I think since the beginning & to leave out the feature from a flagship product is a fumble on SE's part IMO.
The phone over all is a great device even without MT but if gaming is a priority for you I would take a pass on the X10, & look for a device that supports MT not one that may support it.
Guys, please...
Of course I have a PSP!
But, 2 things make me care about my phone's gaming potential too:
1. I don't always carry my PSP around, and even if I have it, I can'y play with it everywhere (I am 30 years old )!
2. PSP is a very old device and its games are mostly the same with phone games, without touch controls. I don't think PSP is that much better than a phone for gaming (a lot of my friends have the same opinion).
I generally don't like the idea that it's a phone ==> if you need something else from your phone go buy something else...
I can't carry around a lot of gadgets...

You're gonna envy me about this: I don't have a wife! LMFAO too.
i fully agree with you i also dont carry psp with me every time.
Hello, this is mt first post here because i'm going made about this decision:
I've Seen an Atrix and want to buy it..
But i Have 2 Devices, 1 Apple Ipod Touch 4 and a ZTE Racer (Very cheap cellphone with android 2.1, horrible touchscreen...) I Would Be Fine with Ipod touch if it id support SIM Cards so i could use a Cellphone internet Connection like 3G, but it doesnt, in other hand, my Phone does support it, but it has so many down sides, that im using him ONLY to make calls and to be the "mobile router" to allow my Ipod to use His internet... yeah its complicated, and i want to only use 1 Phone. Because i like to PLAY 3D Games, Like Modern Combat, Nova, Order & Chaos etc.. I was going to buy the atrix but i've seen reviews about a touchscreen bug that stops responding about 10~20 secs (i dont know if this was fixed in the latest update) and something about games not (yet) being compatible with him (like Order & Chaos). I Dont Really like Apple "not allowing almost nothing" and im a bit of power user/Hacker, so i do know about hardware, operating systems and all.. but staying with ipod seems to be more "safe" to be sure that it will run the games that will yet come.. please your opinion would be helpful about: How Much this phone will do until its trash?, the games will be ported or no chance? the finger prob will be fixed?
Im Looking into the future and i see android getting over apple quickly so i want to stick to the "best" thinking in the future soon.
Sorry if this is not the category
Many thanks
I would say Atrix is the best investment at the moment. It has a very attractive price for a dual core phone. It has an unlocked bootloader and vanilla android / CM7 on the way.
In terms of hardware Atrix is also very future proof. If I were you I'd get the Atrix.
p.s. I haven't noticed the touch screen bug though I played pretty much all of the tegra 2 games.
I tried a few different roms, and the multitouch is completely broken in all of them.
Now, I was wondering, is the multitouch on the X10 Mini broken by default or it should work?
While single touch works perfectly on my device, multitouch is broken. I tried the multitouch tester program from Market and while the first touch point is always pretty much right, the second one jumps all over the place. Moving both fingers at once doesn't work and results in both points jumping all over the screen. Games that require multitouch (like Slice It) are unplayable. Pinch to Zoom (that imo is way inferior to the old way of zooming from the stock rom) barely works at all, and it completely unprecise.
Is it my screen (or digitizer, whatever it's called) borked or it's the multitouch on this device impossible to have working right?
Multitouch is NEVER EVE EVER EVER possible on the X10 Mini as it is since the digitizer doesn't support it. it only supports single touch and some kind of pinch zoom, but that's it. No way in hell The X10 Mini can support Multiouch unless you switch hardware.
HOWEVER!! The X10 Mini PRO supports dualtouch at max, thanks to its Cypress Truetouch 3 digitizer.
Then why do they keep adding that fake dualtouch support in MiniCM roms for the X10 mini? It doesn't even work. I'm not an expert on programming or whatever, but I feel like with all the efforts they probably put into creating the "fake dualtouch" for the X10 Mini they could have ported the Zoom function of the stock picture viewer to other apps that used zoom instead of that absurd pinch to zoom.
Of course I don't want to insult the developers, but I feel like their efforts were wasted as it's pretty much unusable.
2 kinds of dt moduals bet you have outher 1 look into it

It works fine on certain apps, for example, on Opera, it works fine for me, but on Google Maps, it is impossible to use it.

I cant do it, but i'd pay someone else to!
By searching... I've read that we should need chainfire3D to be able to play NFS Hot Pursuit as on Xperia Play...
Thank you for the constructive comment, I did search, this was a last resort.
