[Q] Quadrant score on CM7 Droid Eris? - Droid Eris Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Looking at a Droid Eris to use as a backup device and I was just wondering what the benchmarking looked like with the cyanogen 7 ports. I looked around but it doesn't look like anyone has done that yet.
Could someone who has that setup just run that and let me know?

It really depends on how you configure it: JIT, compcache, dalvik, etc etc.
A stock Eris (2.1 & Sense UI) gets about 200.
With my settings, I get anywhere from 350-400.
Quadrant Standard is not always indicative of day-to-day use, though.
If you have a stable ROM, the phone should be pretty snappy; with the right settings, it can compete with 1 GHz phones.

I'm pulling 1556 on a stock non rooted fascinate.

My Scores are in a slightly lower range. Im seeing from 335-380 running NonsensikalFroyo. Im sure it can do better but its just been so darn stable I have no reason to mess with it.

Same on my CM7 Nook Color overclocked only to 925.
Interestingly my new stock Galaxy Nexus only scored a 1658

Well, I'm using GSB v4.4(cyanogen based); getting 380 to 400 on it stock(not having modified nothing). Also, don't expect 'Quadrant Standard' to be reliable, when a phone is fast it's fast. Hope this helped

Rooted voodooed overclocked I got my Fascinate to 3000

Without overclock I can get 2000

Which ROM?

Getting ready to root my phone and i'm wondering which ROM to use? Been looking at evil Eris but I feel that there are too many things that don't work. Also been looking at ivan's but its not really updated often. What would you guys recommend?

If you want THE fastest Sense ROM, xtrSense3.1 is the one you want. Just be sure to turn on JIT. I have tried all the Sense ROMs and this one scores the highest in quadrant and is easily the fastest interface experience. Just be sure to wipe, install the ROM, do a full boot and setup, then go back and flash the other zip files you want.

Is there lag when dialing out like every other Sense 2.1 ROMS? This lag in the dialer is just a killer for me. I'd rather use a Froyo ROM with no camera than have lag in my dialer even though I use my camera A LOT.
I've used xtrSense3.1 and have had zero issues with dial lag. as stated. it's the fastest of the Sense ROM's. Evil Eris 3.0 and even 4.0 are good, but for me, xtrSense is the definite keeper for me.
There will always be dialer lag with any Sense ROM. But with xtrSense, it's as minimal as you're gonna get. It's really not very noticeable, nearly non-existant. Just remember to overclock to at least 710 Mhz and turn on JIT.
Sent from my Eris using Tapatalk
I fully recommend cyanogen tazz. Blazing fast for me, good battery life, and absolutely no dialer lag.

Cyanogen tazz is beastly fast for me.
I have been using Conaps ROMS ErisLightningBolt 2.8 CM5.08 and he's been doing a great job keeping them stripped down and stable. So for now until they have the camera working in the Froyo ROMS go with ErisLightningBolt 2.8 CM5.08 build from Conap. It's just a matter of time until they get the Froyo ROMS dialed in.
Oh and fyi this isn't the place to ask this question. Try general next time. And in fact I believe there is already a topic about the "best" ROMs so try searching as well next time.
I've been using Plain Jane T2 for weeks and have no complaints. I haven't tried xtrsense but am tempted to try it.
Sent from my Plain Jane T2 v2.0 Eris using XDA App
Really it comes down to what you need.
Cyanogen Tazz. The battery life is insane compared to 2.1 roms.

Thanks for the replies guys. Seriously, the dialer lag will keep me from installing any ROM. I really want my camera back =P Don't get me wrong, 2.2 is awesome. I'll flash over to this ROM here in the next few days. If there is this "dialer lag", you guys are going to get it!!!
Another question; may or may not be possible to answer: Why is there dial lag on Sense 2.1 ROMS on the Eris????
I'm gonna have to say xtrSENSE or Evil Eris, however i think xtr is probably faster...

xtrSense is Plain Jane v2 on steroids. That is what I was running until I discovered xtrSense. My wife is still on Plain Jane v2, I haven't had time to move her to xtrSense.
xtrSense
Been using xtrSense 4.0.6 for a week (Radio 2.42.01.04.27; kernel 2.6.29-8 ; software number 2.37.605.4). Fast (CPU @ 710MHz / sleep @ 245 MHz). Pretty stable. Got it to reboot randomly once or twice.
Biggest hurdle is battery life. Can't get to figure out why my battery doesn't last a day on this ROM or others... (different topic though).
Very tempted to flash CELB Froyo 2.2MB.

You could try a new rom like Cyanogen mod 7. It should work. Also use setcpu with it.
2.1? Time for a new ROM! From what I understand Gene's latest ROM supports overclocking, if you want to keep Sense on your phone.

Its dependent on the kernel, not the rom. If the kernel doesn't support higher frequencies then you wont be able to overclock. I'm not aware of any overclock kernels for 2.1 on the aria but somebody else might.

Only reason I stay on 2.1 is 2.2/2.3 aren't smooth for me. But isn't it possible to edit the sense kernel to support overclocking?

Yes and this was already done in new roms (Cyanogen mod) based off of an overclockable kernel.
Okay. I need a 2.1 compatible OC kernel. Not CM

I put the Liberated ROM on my gf's phone and it runs nicely, without overclocking. Throw in setCPU and there should be not much that can slow it down.
Ehh. I think ill just go back to an iPhone or maybe stick with getting the Inspire. This phone ruined Android for me.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Well with that attitude you might aswell get an iPhone, it seems to fit your personality better.
Having said that... normal 2.1 sense without OC is smooth as butter, as is liberated 2.2.2 with and without OC. Or, if sense is what you're complaining about, install CM7 like others have suggested to eliminate it entirely.
I'm sorry you don't like your phone. I always like to try mine out at the store before I buy them.
Well where I got my phone they don't let you try them out. I was just going by what people said on here and else where for my phone choosing.
But the main issue is, I use my phone like a laptop almost. I check xda all the time. I use it for entertainment. I text almost 24/7. I also use it as my only music player, as my mp3 players never last long. But then phone doesn't perform well enough in most or all categories. Iphones kind of do, but I consider them overrated and bland. Even with jailbreak. I like HTC sense because its got enough eye candy, and its very user friendly. I also prefer CM7 as well due to its blazing speeds. But I want to have a phone that suits most of my needs, and I don't know if my thoughts on the inspire are correct or not, but I think it would suit me perfect, as the aria definitely does not.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
You would be better suited to get a phone with a larger screen and armv7 processor. The inspire has both of these although the battery life is not as great out of the box. I would also recommend the Samsung captivate, as it has a super amoled screen but not front facing camera. CM7 has just added support for it as well.
Sent from HTC Aria - CM7 NIGHTLY + Drowning Kernel
Well I don't really need the super quality screen of the captivate, as I'm not a freak on screen quality. But I'm near my charger quite a bit, so bl isn't a giant issue either. My biggest issue is speed and screen size. I have to type in landscape with the aria or I mess up every other word.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
I suggested the Captivate because it has an arguably better screen and can be had for cheaper than the inspire. The inspire will seem awkwardly huge coming from the aria (3.2" vs 4.3"), where as the captivate is still a step up at 4" but easier to handle with one hand. Also with ARMv7 processors you get REAL flash support (10.1+) whereas the Aria (and any other ARMv6 phone) only gets Flash lite 3.1(?) this is a huge caveat for me and will probably be my excuse to upgrade.
Well when I first got the aria, it was because looked down on touchwiz. I wanted a phone I could like out of the box, then root it for more fun. The aria sort of hit that spot, but I think the inspire will hit it out of the park. I really like sense, and thats my main reason for getting a sense phone.
Sent from my HTC Liberty using XDA App
Well now I'm checking out the atrix. 50$ upgrade refurbished, sounds nice to me. Future proof myself and get rid of blur and well be all good. Right?

GB leak vs Froyo com rom 2.1

I tried GB and got a quadrant score of 840. I reverted back to comRom 2.1 and consistently get 1650 in quadrant. What am I missing here? Isn't GB supposed to be faster?
If its going to be like this for the official release of GB...no thanks, I'll stick to my CR 2.1. Anyone else feel this way?

What you are seeing is the contrast between the voodoo ext4 (comrom) & the Samsung stock rfs file systems. Even GB rfs pales next to voodoo'd froyo. Plus, with comrom you are benefiting from all of the tweaks & under-the-hood customizations from an excellent dev community.

CM7 will get you over 2000 on quadrant (not that it matters) and kindly post your questions in the appropriate location.
I'm stuck on com rom bc data no longer works on gb for us non verizon users. And there's no way yet to get into dun mode.

Side note. Is there a guide to the TSM parts options and how to use all of them?

I'm on verizon but I was just wondering, is it only EC09/modem or any GB such as CM7 also?
Quadrant scores are and always have been entirely useless. While, yes, RFS is slower than EXT4, it's nowhere near 50% slower... it's simply that Quadrant doesn't work right with RFS.
Oh, and there's also the fact that you can double or triple your quadrant score with a single ADB command. Needless to say, that doesn't actually make your phone run faster.

Are you running a stock rooted/locked setup? Or are you running a custom rom/unlocked/overclocked setup? Cause I'm usually around 4500 to 4900.

And as far as kernels go, i havent flashed one yet because im afraid of it killing my battery, or breaking wifi. Can you give me a link to a OC kernel that doesnt break wifi, and isnt too heavy on battery?

You loose all blur stuff. If you ran or have used cm7 before, you'll want it again and again. It's snappy and smooth. My stock blur would fc on me but my photon w cm7 has not fc once yet.
For charge times, I was at 27% (after 3 days run time) and I got to 95% in less then an hour and a half.
This week I may flash the beta kernel for cm7 and retest but depends on work schedule. Still trying to get a good calculation of cm7 and battery run time. So far amazing!

MIUI??? like really?

So I have been switching between MIUI and CM7 for a very long time now, both on the fascinate and droid incredible 2. now i dont know why but i always seem to find cm7 so much faster and snappier but i love how polished and customisable MIUI is... i always end up going back to cm7. does anyone else notice this? i know alot of people say quadrant scores are a bad representation of phone speed but with cm7 on glitch kernel i can easily hit 4000 when OC'd to 1400 ghz....but then when on MIUI with the same OC i can barley get over 2000 to a 2200 in quadrant. i dont understand how the difference can be so great between the two. i really like MIUI... but if i have to sacrifice more than half the performance of cm7 just for a bit more polish then whats the point? does anyone else have the same problem?
