Hello, can I open the Bootloader from a German Atrix e.g this -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261 ?
Is it bought in the US? If so yes, you can unlock it.
Sent from my Motorola Olympus using XDA Premium App.
you cant unlock a german atrix via the pudding method,
its is only for att atrix´s, the german one is a retail one like bell and others. i think moto will unlock the retail one (including the german) with the gb update too but i cant promise.
Thanks for the Information. Yes, I will buy the Atrix in Germany. The first Atrix will send from Shops in Germany.
Can I root the German Atrix? The instructions from XDA are all for ATT or other US Atrix.

If the Atrix is not from AT&T, you can't unlock it with the pudding method. If else, yes, you can.
This is what in #3 postet. My new question is about root.
You shouldn't have problems rooting it.
After reading http://phandroid.com/2011/07/07/motorola-droid-3-shipping-with-locked-bootloader/, I have serious doubts that the Atrix will ever be unlocked outside the AT&T network (the Droid 3 ships with a locked bootloader and runs GB).
The excuse is: it was promised to unlock bootloaders where carriers and operators permit. As apparently the don't, devices remain locked.
If this is the full truth, only Motorola knows.
Thanks for info.
I hope, my Atrix comes the next days.

Is anyone working on soft unlock streak? It has been released for quit a while. But it can't be unlocked yet (soft). Does that mean DELL dose better than Apple on lock their phone?
The UK official unlock version can be used with any carriers. How about the US version? Can we use it with non-AT&T sim card?

the US version is locked to AT&T, there is no unlock (of any sort) with the exception of using a rebelSim... they aren't better than apple, there just aren't as many users trying to unlock it. (I would bet money that apple has about 1000x more iPhone users... they are currently around 59 Million sold)
I have just purchased an atrix non contract on vodafone. And I just wondered what the difference between my atrix and the T-Mobile and orange uk versions.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
The T-mobile don't have 2.3, the orange does. So I guess only software related
Mine is unbranded, so what the he'll would mine be classed as? Lol

There's a 60+ page thread on the moto forums where Orange users are complaining about the lack of Gingerbread.
Hello, I'm an italian customer (carrier Vodafone) that have an Atrix sim free-retail buy from Expansys, running version.4.4.35.MB860.Retail.en.GB with Froyo 2.2.2. I'm still wait the release of official (????) gingerbread from Motorola, but i'm extremely frustrated by the lag. I read the guides, there are a possibility to unlock with gingerbreak and install a gingerbread-based rom (like kenneth penn's stock) rom? It will work fine in Italy? what radio i have to use? Sorry for the questions, but there are information for At&t, orange uk, but few for UE users.
Yeah im in the same boat as you. Its the 4.4.35.GB version. Nothing to do with vodafone. Im going to try another sim in it as I have got a feeling its unbranded. Because there is no voda boot screen. And I havent read anywhere else about a vodafone upgrade. So is there an unbranded one or are we just left on froyo? Because that makes no sense having all this power and not being able to update without rooting.
don't get me wrong, I love rooting, my desire had to be rooted. But this phone is awesome without having to do that.or at least I thought it was. I totally dislike iphones but at least with there updates its to everyone, everywhere. Not carrier based.

im not sure if this will actually work, but it's worth a shot i think.

I have a Canadian (Rogers) Razr and I paid $15 to have cellunlock dot net and they provided me with a code to unlock it. took no time at all. I dropped in another companies sim to test and it worked fine. Not to promote them, but they did the job.
I used quickphoneunlock dot com to unlock my Moto from Rogers and I paid 7.99$
They said I will get unlock code in 8-24 hours but got it in two hours.
I think its cheapest price in internet
Also they have chat so if you have questions real person can answer in few min
I am currently bidding on one on ebay, and the seller got it from an upgrade from O2 so he doesnt know if its locked or not. Is there any possibility I get it and cannot use it with my network?
Hi,
The O2 phones are normally not locked. (And you could flash an unbranded firmware also)
rebel1
o2 uk razr's are all simfree
Cut this post with my shiny RAZR XT910 using XDA Premium
first of all thank you for your reply guys. I actually bought it and the seller sent to me a message mentioning that it IS locked but I can unlock it using a website ( .network-unlock-codes.
So, i would like to ask you, if this guy is really knowing what he is saying or you know better and it IS NOT unlocked.

i don't think that 02's RAZR is locked. my phone is from O2, i inserted my vodafone card directly after getting it out of the box
so first of all:
don't go to the site
just test another card
if not working test another ROM
i wouldn't believe in that selling guy

You mean not to believe him on what he said about the phone being locked OR that is maybe a fraud? (his feedback on ebay is quite good though!).
Any way, I have not paid him yet cause I am waiting to link my new card to my paypal account. How easy is it to put another ROM on this? (never done it in the past)
I have an O2 RAZR and can confirm that it is not locked.
I am gonna raise the bid
3D version of temple run has finally been released and its called 'Fred Runner'
Apple Fanboys are drinking that Hateraid
well, bad news for me. It is asking me for SIM network unlock PIN what should I do now/?
So my question is..how can I bypass this? I am a complete noob. Do I need to flash another rom? What is the procedure? Thank you guys in advance!
I am strongly considering this phone as a sidegrade to my GS2. The lure of unthinkable battery life is making it very tempting. I just cant go back to GB. I know the ICS rollout is set for "end of Q2", but on Moto's support page it only makes reference to the USA. Since the GSM version is not a USA phone, what chances will I have of getting an official OTA anytime soon? I researched this, but it seams that there are not many of these devices currently being used in the US. Does anyone have any info to help with my decision or am I just best off waiting until its officially official?
Thank you.
Read the forums. Seems like the ICS upgrade is imminent for Latin America and coming for EU/Asia.
Is there actually a US spec GSM RAZR, or are you importing from overseas?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
Negri is selling an unlocked version that is compatible with ATT bands. Definitely an import.
Actually, there are GSM/UMTS radios in the Verizon Razr MAXX that have recently been enabled.
There's an article in PCWorld that I can't link too that I'm too much of a n00b to be able to post...
(pcworld dot com slash article/258233/verizon_gives_motorola_lte_razrs_their_gsm_wings.html)
I too would be interested if an unlocked Verizon Razr MAXX could be used on AT&T. garment69, have you had any luck? Did you make a decision?

According to this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569055 the ICS update for the RAZR apparently unlocks the SIM slot.
Some further work may be required, as indicated by this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297714&page=3 (scroll down to read the last two posts)
