Ok... I'm fairly new to ROMs... but I've loaded Das BAMF 2.1, and Das BAMF 3.0 RC3 and recently RC4... first used MR2.5, but during an attempt to load CM7 RC1.1 I got no radio... so I loaded MR2... but still no Radio. And of course went back to Das BAMF 3.0. I found MR2 to work better for me.
I attempted to reload CM7 again. Double checked the MD5 Sum. Then did the following:
Wipe device, wiped Cache, wiped Dalvik cache.
Installed CM7 RC1.1, installed GAPPS
Booted up... no radio... let it sit for 10 minutes... no radio
Reloaded MR2 radio... booted up... let it sit again... no radio... I get maybe 2 bars, but no LTE/3G or any data.
I'm stumped... I'm back up on Das BAMF 3.0 RC4 with MR2 radio, full LTE and 5 of 6 bars at home.
Any suggestions for getting CM7 to work.... PLEASE!!!!
When you had no data after flashing the CM7 (MR2+ version since that's your radio) did you try going to Settings->Wireless&Networks->Mobile Networks and switching to CDMA/EVDO Auto? I would have done that first. Might get it working for you. You can switch back to LTE after you get a signal (if you do).

A good suggestion. Also make sure your back cover is always on as it finishes the antenna's circuit If neither of these things fix the issue, I'll help you dig deeper into it.

I will give this a try tonight... yes, it's the MR2+ version of CM7 RC1.1.
And yes, I have a tight fit on the battery cover... I've only taken the battery cover off twice (first when I got the device and second to pull the SD Card temporarily)... I get great signal strength with my current ROM and the same radio - MR2.
I'll report back tonight.
I downloaded RC1.2 and did the same thing I did above... and it worked... no issues except I'm only showing one bar... looks like I've got some reading to do.
If you know anything about the one bar I'd like to know... this is at work where I usually see 3 or 4 bars.
CM7 will show lesser bars than any sense ROM. It doesnt make a difference in signal strength or connectivity.

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out here (as I can't post to the development thread). I flashed BAMF 3.0 RC2 this morning, and now I can only get a 1x signal. I was on the MR2.5 radio when I flashed the ROM, but read that the MR2 radio was recommended. So, I switched over to the MR2, but am having the same trouble. I can only get a 1x signal.
I triple wiped before flashing 3.0, coming from BAMF 2.x.
Really not sure what else to try at this point. I haven't come across anyone having a similar issue with the ROM.
Thanks in advance to anyone who might have some insight or suggestions.

Re-download The MR2, check the md5, and then reflash through hboot.
First a baseline stupid question ... you have the back cover on?
Second ... Have you tried to get into Das Bamf Toolkit > LTE Settings and changing network to CDMA only & then back?
I had a similar issue this morning as well. I was getting a 1x signal after flashing the ROM. But everything worked out...I'm on the 2.4 radio with the 3.3.3 lean kernel...
switched between 3g / 4g fine and have WiFi on while at home.

Thanks for the responses. I really appreciate the help.
1. I do have the back cover on, but I'm curious why you ask. Is there a known problem with the radio not working when the battery cover is off?
2. I cycled the radio settings, as you suggested, and this seemed to have worked. Probably should have thought of this myself, but I've been on nearly every one of the BAMF roms and haven't had a similar problem.
Again, thanks very much for your willingness to help out. Cheers!

Leaving back cover off has been known to be issue as it is an extention of the antenna

Thanks for the info. I don't think I'd read that anywhere before, but I will keep it in mind.
Okay, I live in Grand Rapids area if that makes any difference. But everything was running fine and dandy on BAMF stripped 2.1. Then, yesterday, my data cut out completely. Wouldn't come back with a reboot, multiple toggles from data on/off, battery pull, nothing worked. So I decided I'd switch ROMS to Gingertheory 4.5. That worked for a little bit, but then it cut out again. So then I switched from the MR2 radio to MR2.5. That also worked for a little bit, but now it's cut out again. I feel like it might be a hardware issue... I don't know what to do!! Heeelllllppppppppp!!!

Try removing the SIM card and putting back in, or (as in my case) the SIM card had gone bad and needed to be replaced at the Verizon store.

Try *228 and update your PRL. if that doesn't work. ..
Try installing a Froyo Rom.. (I would recommend MR2 Froyo 1.66 plainjane by Jcase).
See if that works.. Data issues are usually radio/sim card etc.. more than ROM.. but it could be ROM too..

I'm going back to plainjane v1 and the 223r radio. See how that works. If that doesn't work, then idk what. I'll probably need a new TB... :'(

Well, I guess you were right. While all my friends had data, I did not. It came back today...
My SIM died on me this morning. I was basically sitting in the shadow of a tower and could not get data, even though i had full bars, until i switched to CDMA only mode. Stopped by the vzw store after work, tested my SIM in another TB, did the same thing, 10 minutes later I was leaving with a new SIM and working 3G
I recently switched radios and went to 2.0 and installed the BAMF sense 3.0 rom. All was okay, wifi wasn't working so I switched to a different BAMF gingerbread rom and noticed 3g wasn't working.
Then I switched back to my old configuration, factory rom and radio so I could diagnose what my issue was. I saw fixes online posted when eHPRD was down to dial ##778# enter the password and then disabling eHPRD and going to "enabled". This fixed my issue.
So here comes my question. If 3g only works when eHPRD is disabled is it my sim that is broken? ALSO I cant check if 4g works because I used phone info to change to "CDMA auto (PRL)" and I can't switch back to the LTE mode because my network types are really odd. Are these options different because of CM7 or because I have eHPRD disabled, or because my sim is likely dead?
Pic of network type options from the Phone Info screen is attached.
Don't take this offensively, but did you try scrolling the window down? I see in your pic there are lower options not visible in the window without scrolling.
Just checking all bases
Always safe to check! The last 3 options are "evdo only" "gsm/cdma auto (prl)" and "unknown"
I didn't bother to post them because before I had about 4 different options I think, I have no idea how I got all these random options. Is it kernel related, radio related, rom related, or dead sim related -_-
Hmm ok just checking.
Well that is very odd indeed. I am running MR2 + Das BAMF Gingerstripped with Imoseyon 3.4.0 GB Sense lean kernel and do have some odd connectivity issues, even with 3g. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it might be advisable for you to reflash the radio, then reflash the ROM and do a full data wipe factory reset. I mean that sounds like a very bad problem and personally dealing with Verizon and SIM cards is a royal PITA which you should leave as a last resort. So try doing a completely fresh install imo. It's the only way to rule out any uncertainty.

Yeah I forgot to mention that I have reflashed back to the older radios and to the news, I have tried seemingly every combination. The only way I can get 3g to work is to disable the eHPRD.

I had a similar situation on a different rom. Everything was working fine until I updated to a newer rom build, and I lost 4G. I figured it was verizon messing with the towers, so I didn't worry about it. But two days later, I still had no 4G (I still had 3G). I went on a weekend trip to another 4G area, and no dice. I flashed every combo of rom & radio and couldn't get it to work. When I got back home, I went to verizon & swapped sim cards, and still no 4G. I finally went back to bone stock and got 4G again. I have no idea why this happened, but be prepared to go back to stock if reflashing & sim swapping doesn't help.

It appears you both were right. Went back to complete stock and I have 3g working in eHPRD mode. Willing to bet 4g works again too. Thanks for the help...I guess I will update this thread if I find anything new out.
Just as an update...not sure what I might have done wrong before...
But I went back to stock with root, then went to the CM7 that worked with MR1, then I went to CM7 that worked with MR2, then I put MR2 in.
Everything is working perfectly now.
Glad its working fine. I personally wouldn't advise messing with any particular Radio settings aside from switching it from CDMA + LTE/EVDO to CDMA auto (PRL). Anything else and you're just opening up a can of worms that no one really knows anything on.
Hi! I was wondering if anyone is experiencing this problem. I should be having full 3G all the time where I am right now, but my phone will sometimes switch to "1X" and then once i load something data it switches back to 3G, but just gets kind of annoying to see. It has loaded the 1X also, it doesn't always switch back to the 3G immediately.
This has been going on for a while, and I have done a ESN swap with another smartphone but it still does it.
Any ideas/suggestions?
Oh, and I am not sure if this has anything to do with anything, but sometimes when i reboot my phone my 3G icon just DOESN'T APPEAR AT ALL, so i have to power down and back up. Is this normal? I am on MIUI 1.7.29, and it has done it on other previous roms before. Just GETS ANNOYING.
Try to Turn Off The Phone. Then Leave It Off For 5minutes.
If That Doesn't Work Try To Do A Factory Reset Or Re-install Your Rom (If your using one)
Hate to say it, but I've had my phone since last November and it has always done this. The radio in our phones doesn't do such a good job of grabbing signal. I can have full bars 3G one second and no bars 1x the next. No combination of Roms/Kernels/Radios or ESN swaps have ever fixed this for me. I have just learned to accept it and deal with it. You can try to bring this up with Verizon and they might send you a new one, but it will likely have more problems. Sorry to be a downer but that's just how it is.

This isn't the answer I wanted to hear, but it is a realistic one and I appreciate the honesty. I had a feeling that this is just something that is on our phones end.
Yeah these phones definitely aren't "perfect", i mean how could they be if they make a new one every 2 seconds,

my recomendation is:
- flash the ec09 modem via odin( the ec09 modem is NOT the problem for borked sd cards)
- boot phone
-*228 option 2
Im currently running the powerwashed v1 rom, pbj novoodoo kernal, ec09 modem and I have not missed a call or had my data switch to 1x in almost 2 weeks now.

So I flashed the EC09 radio that you recommended and did the *228 option 2 and it said successful, then I did a power down, power up, and my 3G disappeared;/ , so i powered down, powered up again and the 3G was back, so far it has been decent, but in my house I had the 1x locked for a good 30 seconds before switching back to 3G, on the ED01 radio it would normally switch back faster than that. so I don't think it worked :/,
any other options?? (or should I try to get Verizon to send me a new phone?)
I just flashed everything on Liquids page for the Thunderbolt Gingerbread 3.0 because after reading lots of comments, people seemed to think it was a good build.
I flashed the rom, then Imoseyon lean kernel, then the MR2 radio linked there.
After doing this I went from full bars and 4g to one bar and really slow 3g.
Using the app Phone Info to try and turn on my 4g radio didn't work because there is no listing for a 4g radio. In fact I now have options for GSM radios and one unknown listing.
Can anyone help me get my full signal strength and 4g back please?
I searched a ton for a couple hours now and couldn't find anything posted that would help me.
baseband version 1.48.00.0906w_1, 0.01.78.0906w_2
The radio is the newest radio just release by VZ. Sounds like you are running an AOSP rom if you are having the option as i had this happen to me once. Try setting it to the unknown setting. Maybe that rom won't work out well for you. Or you could try a sense based and possibly have better results. I would personally start off with flashing an alternate gingerbread radio, then maybe try a different rom. Also might want to have a rom booting up before you try a kernel, that too could be a problem. You did a lot at once so it's kinda hard to pin point the problem.
Ok, I will try another radio from the big list that is stickied.
Setting my phone to unknown just makes my phone lose all signal reception; the bars disappear.
None of the linked radios are working I guess I will try Cyanogenmod...
If you can get cm working using a gingerbread radio and default kernel, i would keep that radio and try liquids rom again not updating the kernel at first. Then if you get satisfactory speeds, etc, backup that, then mess with the kernel. Do it step by step until it works, or you find the problem. One thought, did you have the radio set to cdma only on the last sense rom you tried, or did you have it set to cdma+lte. Along time ago i forgot to reset it from cdma only and couldn't connect to lte on a AOSP till i changed it back.
Hrm, I don't remember exactly what the setting was on my stock Sense ROM. I did like to turn off 4g though to save battery.
I just tried Cyanogen and while it loaded fine, and replaced the kernel, it gave me the same radio problems. I flashed to the radio recommended on the CM7 page.
So should I flash a stock sense rom, enable 4g, then try Cyanogen or Liquids?
I just flashed [ROM][6/30/2011]2.01.605.0- Basic Debloat v2.1.1 and didn't change the radios from the newest GB listing and I regained my 4g and signal strength.
I wonder what is up with my phone and CM7 and Liquid both not able to use 4g?
At least I feel calmer now. I was kinda freaking out there for a little bit...
Did you try CM7 with the stock kernel? Or did you replace it right away? Maybe try a different IMO kernal, a slightly older AOSP to see if it works.
Well, CM7 listed a different kernel than what I had previously installed, so i left it alone.
When I flash to a Sense ROM, everything works fine. AOSP ROMS are giving me trouble when I switch from an "unknown" LTE radio to CDMA in phone info. I immediately lose signal and the radio pretty much is fubar'd.
If i set my phone to 4g in a Sense ROM, then goto CM7 or LGB, it works fine until I try to change the radio. I guess i just need to leave the radio alone in AOSP's.
I am trying out some different ROMS to find the best one that works for me....
I REALLY like LGB though, even with the finicky radio. Perhaps leaving the 4g radio on will be ok for battery life.... I would just really like to get the better part of a day out of it with moderate usage.
Thanks for the replies man, I appreciate it.
