Problem with restarts and freezing - Motorola Droid X2

I'm getting serious issues with my phone freezing and restarting. Is this common. So far I've done the V6 script and freezing of bloatware... I may have frozen too much, but I want to find out if it's common.

Ive had the same thing. I think its caused by a memory leak somewhere in the system. I just sent it back to verizon for a refurb. Hopefully the new one wont have the same problem.

Had the same problem and noticed that the processor seemed to downclock to minimum speed when this happens, and won't come back up. I installed Android Overclock -- it won't overclock the Droid X2, but it WILL allow you to set a minimum processor speed. I set mine to 456 MHz minimum/1000 MHz maximum instead of 216 MHz min/1000 MHz max. It appears to have helped some. Not a total solution, unfortunately -- I sometimes still get the slowdown after making a phone call and have to yank the battery and restart. But at this point, I'll take what I can get.

[Q] SetCPU & Megatron

I tried asking this in the Megatron-thread but as usual, no answers...
I am a little worried about keeping my phone overclocked at all times, so I was thinking about downloading SetCPU and switching between 600 and 700 via that app. But my question is this: Megatron ROM overclocks the phone by default. If I download a 3rd-party app to overclock/underclock the phone, will this mess up the whole system?
Anyone? Would really appreciate help!
i've been using megatron & setcpu together for the past month.. no issues yet, so cant promise ma phone wont go up in flames i clock extra if needed
Ok, thanks!
My Experience: USing LOL rom with default OC gave me kernel panics ...so instead i disabled OC in ROm and wud then OC using SetCPu...ALso I dont know why but touch feels a lot more smoother on LOL rom with the lag fix than megatron....so i switched from megatron to LOL...Currently even with maxCPu 480Mhz and conservative profile..touch is very smooth on LOL

How do I disable the OC in Megatron? By adding the "minitron" file and then using SetCPU?
Hi all,
I'm a newbie in Android world. Successfully flashed my O1 to Megatron v1. Afterwhich I tried installing SetCPU to it and overclock to 806mhz & above. However, after overclocking with SetCPU, the whole phone's performance became more sluggish than the original Megatron 729mhz...
Someone please advise me on how to overcome this and make the phone speedier with high frequency.
Is there a way to edit some of Megatron's kernel to make it 806mhz on default even without using SetCPU?
Don't use set on boot feature, it will make ur phone get stock on bootloop...
So can someone tell me how to proceed with this? I want to be able to change between 600 and 700, when I please. Thanks

Got it! Tried last night without set on boot feature. Working fine with 806mhz and speedier than 729mhz. However my chipset refuses to go into higher frequency without freezing and rebooting... Is it due to my microsd card? I'm still using the original 2gb microsd card tt came together with the O1... Will changing to a class 6 or higher microsd card let me clock higher? or my chipset is just lemon at 806mhz?

FnH84: I downloaded SetCPU from XDA forum and can tweak the frequency between 600 & 700 by myself. Even can set profiles to govern the speed at different situations.

You are already pushing the CPU to its limit with that 806 MHz frequency. Do you even realize is 34% above the designed specs for this CPU? You're already lucky enough you got it stable at 806, and no SD card will ever make a difference, they're not related.
How come Samsung Galaxy Mini running on the same chipset offer 800Mhz as stock???
Man, I don't know! How come the same "Pentium IV" processor could come in speeds from 1.3 GHz to 3.8 GHz?
Can any of you actually believe that LG would underclock an 800 MHz CPU and sell it to us as a 600 MHz instead of letting it run at its best?
Galaxy Mini is obviously using a CPU designed to run at 800 MHz, even though it bears the same name. And that one can probably be overclocked to above 1 GHz.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking bout the same as the other guy, that galaxy ace can run at 800mhz, and why not O1.
Hmm... Isn't there any other ways to push the frequency higher? Maybe supply more voltage to the core? I dont mind sacrificing batt life, I just wanna try ways to push it to the max~~

[Q] 1.6GHZ all the time

after root... i have installed SetCpu, i have overclock my processor to 1.6ghz.. the question is, can i use this setting for daily use? is it will cause my processor hot or damage??
Depends on the phone. Mine can't run above 1.4ghz stable (but my GPU can overclock easily).
^What he said. Try it for a while, but if you get reboots or freezes, pull it back to 1.4 or 1.2.
if it runs stable then you can no problem
Watch your temp. Might be a phone but it's the same as a computer. That reno gets to high, and you're looking at overheating and possibly causing corrupted files from shut downs or worse, hardware damage.
Correct me of I'm wrong.

Just make sure you don't check "Set at boot" until you're sure you can set it at 1.6 with out reboots and crashes...... GL
Why 1.6ghz all the time? 1.4ghz uses MUCH less power (meaning less heat as well) and is 99% as smooth.

Very good point....
I underclock to 800 . And phone is just as snappy. Why would ya wanna use 1.6 out of curiosity ?

Honestly the only reason someone would overclock to 1.6 GHz would be for bench marking, which i find useless. My processor is usually clocked to 800 MHz and i can play games like N.O.V.A. 3 with only slight lags here and there.
I do something similar to a few people here. I keep it at 800 most of the time and bump it up to 1000 when I'm playing certain games. Then back to 800 when I'm done. Responsive enough for whatever I have to do and doesn't overheat.
Wow OP
What a question OP.
I can't believe no one called you out yet.. I will be the first
If you want to kill your phone hardware then keep it at 1600! (which is overclocked too you dummie)
USE SetCPU so that your phone can
1. remain cool when high CPU cycles are needed
2. save battery by making profiles especially for when your phone screen is off
...
ok theres good guides out there. just google it

[Q] Is it possible that Underclock ..

Is it possible that underclock to 1000mhz would make my SMS not send ?
I had a problem some week ago about that some SMS send quickly after an other (like one sec after the first SMS) stay at "Pending" without sendin .. I thought it has solved by himself but it occured again today, the only thing i see is that i underclocked my CPU to 1000MHZ
There is no undervolting, and i didn't touch to /system or put tweaks ..
I full wiped, flashed stock rom and flashed Siyah, then underclocked to 1GHZ with Extweaks, didn't touch to anything else ..
So my question is .. Is it possible that underclock may cause some interferance or something like that with my modem that could make possible that some sms send very quickly just stay on "Pending"

NO!
Underclocking to 1GHz will never do that. Something else must be responsible for it. Maybe a temporary network problem
Even underclocking to 800 mhz ? i did it wrong, i just saw that it was on 800 mhz .. :/ but i didn't see the difference with 1ghz, cause with my phone i just do some SMS (no game or something like that)
I'm satisfacted with 800 mhz, should i leave it like that if you think that it isn't possible that 800 mhz couldn't cause interference and things like this .. or should i go 1ghz ?

If your phone is running fine, then Leave it like that. Sometimes, I use 800-100MHz myself, anytime i need my phone for two days without charging it.
The problems Underclocking might give you, are phone Freezing, Black screen, Soft reboot etc
Sounds like your apns are having problems. Have you tried restarting your device a few times?

Overclocking, but how far can I go?

Hello,
I have a rooted GT P7500.
Also i have got the SetCPU App for overclocking the CPU.
Standard is 1000mhz and iam able to put it up to 1600 mhz.
At the moment i have set it on 1400 mhz.
But is it possible to set it on 1600mhz without destroying
The device??
I dont know whether this is good for the cpu or not... :/
just...
just... some "yes" or "no" answer
should be enough...
could 1600mhz kill the cpu
or not?
It varies from device to device. I've heard of people running 1600 MHz on the tab before, not sure how long they had it at and if any problems appeared though. I've also heard that some people experience problems even at 1400 MHz.
Personally I'm running at 1400 MHz since I never had problems there. Pershoots kernel is also set to max out at 1400 MHz, stating that any higher frequencies could become very unstable.
So yeah, no "yes" or "no" answers to your question, only a "depends on your device".
If you do set it to 1600 MHz though, I'd watch it very closely and go back to 1400 at the first sign of problems.

To further this, I have never had any problems running at 1.4 but when setting to 1.5/1.6 it always freezes and needs a hard reboot after about 20seconds. However I've heard people run it at 1.6 all the time with no problems so I suggest a max of 1.4 but if you really want to know, try it at 1.5/1.6 for an hour or two with high usage and make sure set on boot is not ticked. If you feel it's stable then I guess YOUR device can handle it.
You have to remember any OC above 1ghz has the possibility of causing some damage but if you want performance 1.2 is a "safe" OC. 1.4 is riskier bit probably fine but 1.5&6 can pose some risk to the device if mishandled.

Yes... I have Overclocked my tab to 1600Mhz... Only problem is faster battery drains...
I am running 1600 and so far no problems.
It froze only once while watching HBO Go but it could be something Wifi related as well.
Still watching watching battery life. I set the lowest speed to 216mhz in order to save some battery.
Above 1400 this tab feels smooth as the Nexus 10, I am running stock ROM with A1 kernel by the way.
yes, it will be useful
Never overclock my tab so much but you have to expect some issues if you overclock too much and too long.
As everybody say, it depend of your device. And of course, on all device you'll experience a faster battery drain. Try not to set the CPU manager to "performance"

Broken kernel? Or broken phone? (Overclocking fail)

I have a super old galaxy nexus that im currently using because i was flashing new rom on my note 3 and killed it.
So i decided to flash franco kernel in this baby to make this underdog fly with 1.8ghz.
The stock is 1.2ghz.
What i did was i set min freq=1.8 max freq=1.8.
Did some stress test, didnt have issues (no reboot or shutdown). But the frequency will drop go 192mhz to 384mhz.
Everytime i stress the phone (games or heavy multitasking), the phone would simply downclock itself even though i DEMAND and LOCKED the frequency to 1.8ghz.
Any ideas? I assume its thermal throttling
If so, how can i get around it? I just want maximum amount of performance
Thanks guys.

Even if i dont overclock the phone, the galaxy nexus would downclock itself from its 1.2 ghz down to somewhere around 500mhz anyways.
Seems to be aging because literally anything i throw at it, it will overheat regardless.
I just want a usable phone, if its constantly clocked at 500mhz, its literally slow enough for me to certify its a piece of garbage
