Restoring SGS2 to Original State - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Basically, I'm selling my GS2 and I want to return it to it's original state, as in, the Orange UK firmware, remove the root etc on the device.
I'm currently running Lightenin' Rom 1.3 on the device.
Is it just as simple as downloading the Orange UK firmware from this site, and running a flash through ODIN? Will this also get rid of the yellow triangle?
Thanks for any help.
Dean

Should do but you will be left with the custom rom counter .
See binary rom counter post dev section .
jje

I could use the USB jig to do that right? I have one of those badboys!!

Im glad somebody asked this question, i have been searching for an answer to this exact same question for over 2 days and was about to start a new thread

I'm glad someone's asked this too. I find the dev threads generally poor at explaining things clearly. There seems to be a lot of assumptions about the reader's knowledge, which can leave you wondering "WTF???"
I've not had any problems with any previous phones, but this is my first native Android device so I'm obviously having to learn quite a bit.
My one question would be to Deanoaka. When you say:
Is it just as simple as downloading the Orange UK firmware from this site, and running a flash through ODIN?

Ah! You diamond. Cheers mate
Now that's a thread that deserves to be stickied!

Come on guys and girls, nobody got the answer to this question?

Question answered .
Flash stock/original rom via ODIN you then may need to set binary counter to zero via USB jig .
All in DEV section .

Awesome!, Thanks a bunch mate!
Its wierd though, when you post a question in dev forum they tell you to post it in Q&A. When you eventually post in Q&A, the answer is lying in the Dev Forum. lol

Yes that to stop idiots who wont even read the first page posting stupid questions when a search would reveal the answer .That leads to no time to develop .

I already flash from XWKF1 to XXKG5 (actually my 2nd try, and I think, I failed to root it). It's ok with my action (I'm from Malaysia)?
I realize my usb lock screen doesn't appear when i plug in into pc. I dont know how to remove safely from pc as before i just hit home button at my sgs2 to remove it.
I'm very2 noob. It's ok if I go to samsung service centre and ask them to restore to original state and wipe all data like new from the box? Is't affect my warranty?
Hope someone will answer my noob questions. Tq...

Please help me all the links are not working

Hey guys can someone please help me asap,
I have a SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 with VODAFONE AUSTRALIA
Like a stooge even though I didnt really know what i was doing I tried to put on ICS on my phone and replaced the PHONE, PDA, BOOTLOADER AND CSC files on my phone using odin 1.8 and i really hate my phone right now it barely works, I have been on the net and mainly this forum all day but all the links/downloads arent working, can somebody please tell me where i can download the stock firmware/kernel whatever it is called for my phone with Vodafone Australia, thank you so much in advance, thanks.
download from http://www.samfirmware.com/
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-I9100&r=4#regiona
At the risk of repeating myself for the 8,921,764th time...If you want the original stock firmware that came with the phone, search Samfirmware.com & follow whatever instructions they have for firmware downloaded from their site.
If you're happy with the latest stock firmware (which might be the same as the firmware which was on the phone when you bought it), get the PC version of Checkfus (search for it on here/Google). This will enable you to download the latest firmware available for your phone model/country/carrier that you'd normally get via OTA update with Kies. If you do choose this, flash the firmware package you download following the instructions here.

Click firmware, choose type, then os, then model, then region. Then click download on the one you want on the list that appears.
EDIT: you DO have to be registered on the site to download... Maybe this is what is popping up?

[Q] What Stock Firmware to Flash?

Hi all. I would like to keep my stock firmware up to date on my rooted S3, but have a few questions about this. From what I can tell the easiest way to do this seems to be by downloading the newest firmware (say from SamMobile) and using Odin to push it to the phone (since I can't use OTA updates and Kies refuses to connect to my phone). What confuses me about the stock firmware for this phone are the different country/carrier codes. Do I need to be concerned with using one from a different country than me (I'm in the US), or are they just generic firmwares that can be used by any country? SamMobile shows a bunch of new firmwares for the S3 released in February but they all have different country/carriers, what's the point of this? Currently my phone is running baseband version I9300XXELL4 which doesn't seem to coincide with the US, which I guess is also part of what is confusing me.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the quick response!
If the country/carrier codes do not matter then why are there so many different firmwares with the different countries?

Modem may or may not be better CSC has local area network settings .
Simple is that you flash a firmware and if you have network problems you try a diffrent modem .

I've checked my CSC and it comes up as unknown - is this an issue or does this need to get fixed before I update my firmware? My phone works fine right now. Also, how do you try a different "modem". Do you mean just flash a different version of the firmware?
Believe me I have checked every sticky in the I9300 forum and none of them explain the difference between the different stock firmwares. None of those links are helpful .

In that case not a clue do i have .
Suggestion is that you actually start at the beginning and learn .
Start by reading the unhelpful links which you have failed to bother to read .
The one about modems may be relevant or not .
XDA does not spoon-feed .

Wow, I come here to politely ask one question (essentially) and this is what I get. In case you have issues reading, read this: I have read every single sticky thread in its entirety (something it seems you haven't done, might I add) and none of them answer the question I am asking. I'm not asking you to "spoon feed" me and hold my hand through rooting my phone or how to use Odin (since all of that info is on sticky threads). I am simply asking what the difference is between stock firmwares that have different country codes. If you cannot answer that, please do not waste my time by responding to this thread. It would do you well to read my entire first post before giving me answers to questions I did not ask to begin with.

There is a very good guide to csc/modems /baseband etc....All in the stickies .....that you diligently read

If i flash BTU firmware will it brick the phone?

My Ace 2 is EE branded:
Latest firmware info
GT-I8160 Galaxy Ace 2
PDA: I8160XXLL2
CSC: I8160EVRMA1
Added: 2013-0-10
(From sammobile)
If i flash a BTU firmware, then update it via Kies to jellybean, will it brick the phone or is it safe? Has anyone else done this?
Your telephone would explode because you did not used Q & A Thread, and you did not bother to use search function.
Have you ever read XDA rules? Please do. Do not open new thread for each question. Most of questions (including yours) are already answered.
I dont want to sift through 176 pages on the Q and A thread sorry.
Anyone answer please?
You can always use search function.
Most people are using it with good results. It's not that hard and I assume you are grow enough to use it.
But if you somehow cannot find it, then you can add a post on Q&A Thread your question and someone will answer you. At right upper corner you will get info at Notifications: that there is a reply.
fair point, my bad.
Please Search before create a new tread
Upgrade via kie ? what do u mean ? why dont u upgrade using odin?

So will it brickmy phone? If it wont, which firmware should i flash and where is the guide to using Odin?

no it wont brick your phone if done correctly(there are how-to threads about this, no further answers will follow here...)..
xda search is your friend and also is google - try to search on your own a bit and if you don't find anything, then you open a new thread -- here are more then 5mio users, someone does have your problem and there is a discusoon going on about that for sure..
no need spam more posts - read forum rules first!
yes it will brick it. So wait for kies.
Ive google searched loads for EE branded firmware and it just finds my own threads. Thats why im asking here but it keeps getting ignored so i have to keep asking cuz surely someone knows

[Q] I need an official firmware..

Hello,
one of my friends got her S3 stuck in a boot loop, it can go into recovery and it is detected by odin. So I thought I could just flash the official firmware and this may fix it.
I went over to sammobile but they changed something with the firmware section since the last time I was there.. I can't find older firmware.
The phone is I9300 and I am looking for the latest firmware for Egypt.
Do you guys have any idea what I should do?
Alternatively, I am trying to save the data here, do you know of any non wipe firmware? I am trying to get her phone up without losing data.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks!
Questions go in the q&a forum, report your own post and ask a moderator to move it.
If you want the latest firmware then just download it from Sammobile.com, you will have to factory reset before it will boot.

I have looked into the Q&A but I didnt feel my question falls in there, as Q&A is mainly about the S3.
I have looked at the threads containing a collection of official firmware but nothing related to Egypt.
I did my search before I post. I could not reach a desirable result that is why I asked.
Apart from that, thank you for your answer. I hope someone else can help me with an answer that will resolve my problem.
Thank you.
Note: funny thing about your quote, I already mentioned I looked in Sammobile and didnt find Egypt. Missed to read that?

You don't need to install an Egyptian firmware on your friends S3. You can basically install any firmware made for the GT-i9300. Doesn't matter from what country it says its from.
