If your unlocked and have the newest unlocked version of tenfars cwm recovery than you can flash kenn's 2.3.4 GB Rom from briefmobile with no issues that I know of. I running it and its the best Rom Ive ran on the atrix by far. Moto did a good job on this one.
just got scared off by the hardbrick warnings!!
thanks for your reply, wondering if anyone has done it yet
The file you do not want to flash is the official update. This is the one which puts you at risk of bricking.
Follow the instructions for Kenneth Penns 2.3.4 as was said, and you will be fine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159385
just unlocked the bootloader!
Im using the official leaked rom n its super stable..everything works fine...im also rooted, unlocked n very happy
did you flash directly from gingerblur 4.5?
im trying at the moment to delete the stupid install.-recovery.sh file but it keeps saying read only!! argh
help please
I am stuck in a 'bootloop' where the phone just sits at the M logo with 'unlocked' in the corner.
i never managed to delete the install-recovery.sh file so went ahead and installed the newest CWM anyway and it installed fine, then went and flashed a rom and it went fine (the one linked here) and then i got the boot loop
then i downloaded the cherryrom and flashed that successfully but ended up with the same boot loop !!! help me fix please
Nope...i loaded the 1.83 official via rsd then loaded the official 2.3.4 ;-) after dat unlocked the bootloaded, rooted it n flashed cmw..works like a charm
(Remember to backup everything in titanium backup)
I personally went straight from a locked phone with Gingerblur 4.5 install to unlocking the bootloader, then right to kenn's ROM of Gingerbread. Works perfectly.
You did flash it through the recovery that you get when you boot your phone up and holding down the volume button, right? Not the one you get from the "System Recovery" app.

i've encountered the same problem. i guess maybe the right process is: froyo-gingerblur-gingerbread. we did it in a wrong way: froyo-gingerbread-gingerblur.
so right now considering downgrade to froyo, anyone could confirm me that this wouldn't make my device bricked? thanks
I used RSD and went back to an original SBF. so a clean ATT build.
Then I went through all the steps, and made sure I deleted the install-recovery.sh file
then its all working fine apart fro mthe battery life which was resolved by flashing the -00 radio and the faux oc kernal (surprisingly!)
cheers

Alright i have been trying and trying to get my phone to have the di05modem and be running the Dl30 froyo. I do not know what i am doing wrong nothing seems to be working and i have had to us odin restore files 3 times now. so here i am again
Phone curnnet setup STOCK
Model number
SCH-I500
Firmware version
2.1-update1
Baseband version
S:i500.04 V.DI01
Kernel version
2.6.29
Build number
SCH-I500.DI01
Problem one i am having is getting CWM installed. i try it through odin and it works one time then not the next, giving me the error of E: signature failed oh file i used was clockworkmod ALL.zip
Once i do it it to work i have use odin to then install DJ05modem.tar. It says everything went fine, i let it boot and it works, the modem then says v.dj05
So then i try to install the stock dj05 rom/system, file DJ05_stock.zip through CWM it says it works and all is good. But i then try to boot and it makes it to the samsung logo and then just keeps resting itself
THen i jsut reset everything back to stock using the odin recovery files and im back to square one as i bought the phone.
Yes i am rooted that works everytime without a hitch. so what am i donig wroung
Im a little confused.
you say that ODIN works one time then does not work? You should only have to flash clockwork once.
It sounds like you are having a kernel problem. I am no dev but your description of the logo sounds a lot like what happened when I installed a voodoo kernel over a non voodoo ROM. I also do not see you mention the install of a kernel of any kind, you might search and see if there is a specific kernel needed for your rom. Much like the Super Clean roms have their own kernels that they work with.
Hopefully that can get you squared away in the right direction!
I'm sorry if somebody already posted that, i swear I had a look
I have a SIM unlocked AT&T MB860 Atrix with gingerblur 4.5, and I would like to try some real gingerbread goods, which means bootloader unlock and 2.3.4 HKTW.
Do I have to flash back to 1.8.3 stock sbf before actually unlocking and installing gingerbread? I heard people saying is not safe to flash sbf for SIM-Unlocked Atrix because it can cause Wi-Fi problems, is it still the case?
Second problem: I had my phone rooted, but now I don't have an external micro SD card, so I wouldn't be able to root with gingerbreak-similar methods, is this a deal breaker or there is another way to complete the process all the way through?
Thanks a lot
As a general rule, it's best to flash back to stock before flashing anything else. Because Gingerblur requires Tenfar's recovery to run, I believe this will be the best way to do this. If someone else could chime in about the SIM-unlock/wifi issue, that would be great.
As for the rooting method on 2.3.4 HKTW, it works by installing a ZIP through recovery. In my own experience, it only seems to read external SD cards. If you can make it read the internal somehow, then you should be able to root.
i was on GingerBlur 3.1 (rooted via GladRoot), and did the following over the weekend
- flashed the unlocker SBF (still on 1.8.3)
- flashed the new CWM onto the phone via fastboot
- flashed GingerBlur 4.5 using that CWM, just for a few days
- flashed the 2.3.4 IMG using the Windows x64 guide in the general forum.
ran into no problems, and the GB build was already rooted when it booted up.

If I wanted to return to the stock ROM after flashing 2.3.4, all I have to do is RSDLite flash 1.8.3 back correct and then restore using CWM?

I just did this tonight, and for some reason, I had some problems flashing the 1.8.3 SBF directly. So I downloaded the 1.2.6 (shipping) firmware and just did the updates.
I just pulled and installed the 2.3.4 OTA.. after the install and reboot I am stuck at the Motorola M... I have tried a Factory Reset as I can get into FastBoot etc..
What would be my best course of action? Should I just flash a ROM like Ninja?? or try to go back to stock 1.26 then update from there or will I Brick going that route? Any help would be greatly Appreciated!
What were you on before the update?
Beamed from WinBorg 4G via XDA Premium
I was running stock 1.83 Rooted. Only other thing was flashed 2.3.4 radio..
Same issue as OP (stock 1.83) but I didn't flash a radio, I only rooted with gingerbreak. OTA update installed and rebooted, went to the M logo screen (the version that isn't flashing/pulsing) and stays there. Grabbed the update off motorola's site, put it on my SD card, booted to recovery and installed with that, rebooted, same result
I've got the same issue. Was running stock 1.83 before, rooted and with a custom boot animation. Applied the update and now stuck at the dual core splash screen, even after a factory reset from the Android Recovery screen.
Adrian, I am now up and running....
I unlocked the bootloader using pudding and then flashed 2.3.4 using fastboot from KennethP...
However now there seems to be an all-in-one SBF that I actually just installed on my phone as well that is at the top of the pudding thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
Where it says Update July 23... where it says "Download ATT 2.3.4 Pudding+root here... " After flashing that via RSDLite you can click on the link right before that link in the same statement.. "root in preinstall (don't ask questions, read the post in this link)" to Root the 2.3.4 Atrix.. Hope this helps!
Thanks- I tried that route but ended up totally bricking. As in will not even turn on. Hopefully that's so bad that AT&T will replace the phone.
Adrian, I am sorry to hear that.. I would try AT&T and tell them that you pulled and installed the OTA. Hopefully they will do a replace.

Use tenfar's unlocked CWM.
Cheers!
Testing rit now, report with results as soon as i get the stock love
Flashed without any problem,
factory reset, wiped cashe
installed unlocked bell zip
after reboot red led shows up and phone reboots.
I think i am stuck in boot loop
Now what to do ?
I have managed to get back to Aura ROM
now will try to go back to stock.
Booting Aura rit now (y it is taking forever to boot )
Finally out of CM7
Now trying to go back to stock
Well, not sure what happened there, you can apply the ihop_bell again to see if that fixes it.
Cheers!
I managed to get back to Aura ROM and tried to flash bell 2.2.2 zip and process aborted i think that zip only works with tenfar's unlocked CWM only that managed to fully flash the rom but stucked with boot loop.
Now going to flash Alien rom (personally Aura removes blot and adds his own crap)
Nop bell stock 2.2.2 is giving error in all 3 recoveries
What to do ?

Nop not yet, i want to go back to stock Bell
is it any good ?
Hi,
If you backed up your pds partition, try restoring that. Probably some sbf you tried modified it, changing the signature maybe.
Cheers!
I didn't backed-up any thing (no need of backup)
if u have any then let me have it
Nop dont have any backup, didnt bothered to keep any backup. now i am thinking i was so wrong
Hi,
I just threw that out there, it's the only partition that I don't touch, but sbf files can modify it, since I got my replacement phone I have never used a French/Orange/ATT whatever sbf, so that's probably the difference. My backup is the 2.2.2 Gobstopper really, I also have a pds backup but it's useless for other phones.
Only other idea would be to change the radio first, there are radio only sbfs out there, go for the .15P one for Bell. Once on my previous phone when going from Telstra and French there were issues due to the radio if I recall correctly.
Cheers!
Well i go the solution after a lot of work!!!!
the first thing i did is to download gobstopper Bell 2.2.2 search in the forum
then i flashed cwm to the phone using fastboot
then i when on google and found ramfix.zip in groupoandroid.com put it in the sd internal or external
then i boot the phone in cwm and installed ramfix once finished i flash bell 2.2.2
this gave me the solution to all the problems. be sure to have at least 80% battery
then i rebooted the phone and download the new update from bell
installed with th UI from android rebooted, installed and the phone works 100%
hope this gives you a solution for you guy's.

Did you have tenfars recovery installed? Don't use any other recovery other than the tenfar recovery for unlocked devices.. Gobstopper will fail if you try with other recoveries..
In the original gobstopper 2.2.2 post, there's instructions on how to find the proper recovery for your phone..
You can also use the Gobstopper for 2.3.4 and just skip the extra upgrade. I had the same problem, but with the PortalApp APK.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195922
thanx for the reply!!! No solution!!
i got tenfar's latest CWM and i try to install 2.3.4 from bell but i get error gameloft_3game.zip than i try the old 2.2.2 godstopper and i get an error message saying updating osh.bin (webtop mmcblk0p13)..
