[Q]-Phone gets stuck when plugged in while phone is off - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any of you guys experience this ? I'm on ota 2.3.4 unlocked and rooted. Not sure if this is a result of being unlocked or on 2.3.4 as it's been a week or so since I charged when phone was turned off.
Before : Phone off, plug in charger, phone starts to boot into the green battery charging screen, and if I wanted to boot fully, then press power button and it boots.
Now: Phone off, plug in charger, phone starts to boot, but no green battery screen, gets stuck at first red Moto logo screen. Holding power button does not get it to continue to boot. Only way out is to unplug, take out battery, put battery back in, and turn on phone without it being plugged in.
Overall, not a big deal as I mostly charge with the phone on and can continue to do so, but wanted to see if any others who are either unlocked or on 2.3.4 have experienced the same issue. anyone?

funny. i just answered this question a second ago here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15538419&postcount=9
hope it helps!

Eh?! Photon won't turn on anymore. White LED when plugged in?

My photon was on 5% about an hour ago... then it turned itself off. I plugged it in to the charger and a "white/faint yellow" LED comes on. Normally the photon doesn't have a charge LED so this certainly struck me as odd.
It has been sitting for almost an hour and still won't turn on.
I took the battery out and reconnected the charger and the white/faint yellow LED comes back on, even with the battery pulled out.
What is happening here? Has anyone seen this?
I've see green/orange/red LED flashes for diff things but never white.
Well I found this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sprint-photon/107931-led-not-working.html#post1147045
Looks like white means very low battery and charging. Now the white light has gone off while plugged in... But it still will not turn on
Turns out, I was plugging it into a PC usb that didn't have the drivers installed. The phone won't charge if the moto drivers are not installed, regardless of the light
I plugged it into a wall charger and viola... its back and running.
False alarm!
Lol, exact same thing happened to me! I totally freaked out, but plugged it in a wall and started working.
same thing happened to me yesterday. I plugged into the wall, NOTHING. I started freaking out, until I pulled the battery and re installed it. LED charge light then came on and all was good. Weird.
Can someone help me i have a photon also but when i plug it up it says failed to boot 2 starting rsd mode battery too low to flash and it wont boot up when plugged up to a computer. also when i plug it into the wall it just boot to the m sign

- Pull battery
- Put it back in so it's off
- Keep it plugged into the wall to charge it
- Once charged, power into RSD mode (power+vol up)
- Plug into computer and start RSD and flash 154_5 SBF to get back to stock
- then flash 198_7 SBF for good measure.
- Reboot
When i try that nothing works, it just stays on the white led light
I just bought mine from best buy and it did the same thing..they exchanged the phone since it was defective..

Photon won't turn on anymore. White LED when plugged in
i have a refurbished replacement photon from best buy geek squad that i got last month. within a few days it was acting strange and randomly/often turning itself off. the battery was fully charged yet the unit would often times power down. this happened a lot the first few weeks. then last week the issue seemed to stop and it stayed on 24/7 as i charged it frequently. all was well until yesterday.
i dropped my phone from about 2 feet. the phone turned off and only the "m" boot up screen appeared after i powered on, then it went black. i had a fully charged battery in the unit when this happened. i plugged the charging cable into the phone and it kept booting up to this static "m" screen then turning off. the LED notification light went red and after numerous times powering on and off and resetting the battery (and sim card) i finally got a "5%" battery screen. a few seconds later it showed 100% battery then kept rebooting to the static "m" screen and shutting off again. then i started getting a "?" screen for the battery a few times and back to the 5% and it changed to 80%/100% very quickly and back to the blank screen. i left it plugged in overnight.
now the LED notification light turned white and the phone cannot be powered on. i tried another battery without any success so that shouldn't be the issue.
any ideas what to try next?

Try to fully charge your battery using portable battery charger.
When battery full charge, try to entering recovery mode. From off condition, press both power and volume down, press down until you find android recovery and press volume up button. After you see exclamation logos, press both volume up and down. Then select wipe data. Hope fully you can still entering recovery mode.
If you cannot enter recovery mode, try to enter RSD protocol.
step is, connect your photon to PC using cable data, press both volume up and power, wait until it show RSD Protocol, than flash it again.
How to flash using RSDLite is in development section, you can read there.
Hopefully its can work

[Q] Dead battery = boot to recovery with no video

This is something odd I haven't experienced with any Android device until now.
Whenever my Rezound battery is depleted to the point where the phone shuts down, I cannot get the device to boot back up again without ADB.
While it's powered off in this state and plugged into charger, it exhibits no charge LED or any other type of activity.
After pressing the power button, it appears to do nothing whatsoever.
If plugged into my laptop USB, the OS detects the device and loads the Debug mode drivers. ADB DEVICES shows the device as being in Recovery, and the device is still completely dark, no video, no backlight, no button lights.
At this point I can ADB SHELL and issue commands, but it can take up to a dozen REBOOT commands (although sometimes on the first or second try) to get the device to do anything other than reboot directly back to dark-screen recovery. I just keep running REBOOT until finally the white/green HTC image appears and the phone boots normally as if nothing was wrong.
Once booted, it behaves perfectly for as long as the battery doesn't die. I can reboot, HBOOT, power off and on, do a Clockwork backup... But, if i let the battery die, I have to ADB REBOOT until it decides to come back to life.
What do you think. Hardware or software issue? Try RUU?
Thanks!
there's definietley a huge problem wtih this phone. i had a guy bring in a phone that died overnight and the same thing happend...he'd plug it into the wall, for 5 seconds it would show orange charging LED, then just shut off..phone wouldn't power on, either. he had it plugged in charging for 3 hours though, and the phone was still dead.
when i switched batteries, teh phone would not go past the white HTC screen. it was just dead. we had to get him a replacement. i'm seriously afraid to shut off my phone now or even let it die. sigh.
Oh yea, mine does the not booting past white HTC screen occasionally between REBOOTs as well. I am disappointed with HTC now, my original AMOLED Incredible was totally rock solid for the 2 years I carried it along 40+ airplane rides to 11 different states. This Rezound craps the bed if you give it a dirty look
Everyone should take a look at this thread in the Vivid forum. People were havin problems with their phone booting into CWM when the battery was dead, me included. Our CWM was updated to support charging and now all is fine. Might be worth looking into.

Weird, just let my battery die before reading this thread, didn't experience this..
but def not going to let it die again!

Galaxy s2 hard bricked I think

So my current phone stopped working so i was going to switch back to my galaxy s2 that has been sitting unused for about 3 months. When i tried to charged it the device will not turn on. The phone heats up when it sits on the charger for sometime. Also if i hook it up to my computer without the battery and hold the power and up/down button i can get to the warning screen about custom os to put it into downloading mode but when I press up to continue the screen just goes black and nothing happen if i press down to restart nothing happens it just goes black and i can hold the power and up/down to get back to the warning screen. The phone was rooted with iscrewd a long time ago before i when to a different phone. I have a usb jig but i cant even get to the warning screen with the battery in. Any thoughts??
You don't say, but I assume the phone was working normally when it was put on the shelf? If you can put your hands on a good I777 battery that is at least partially charged or better yet fully charged, put that in the phone and see if it will boot.
Sitting for three months will completely drain the battery, and this phone is somewhat sensitive to that. At least I have seen quite a number of reports of full discharge of the battery giving the same symptoms of not charging and getting warm.
I don't know what would account for you not being able to go beyond the warning screen with the battery out, especially if the phone was working normally before. The correct button configuration is the volume down button only, when the battery is out. I think the other buttons don't intefere though. Might try with just the vol - being held down and see what happens.
I vaguely remember someone having a problem similar to this, and I think he fixed it by getting the phone into download mode, putting the battery in, and leaving it in download mode to charge the battery. I think after a while he was able to boot the phone and let it finish charging while the phone was on.
This happened to me before. I just bought a new battery on Amazon and it worked just fine.

cannot turn on phone anymore

New issue ..
Today i didn't have a charger with me so phone drained completely. Now it no matter how long i charge it it will not boot right.
This is what it is doing, two kind of behaviors:
1, when it is plugged into an outlet screen remain slightly lit, able to boot into bootloader, able to boot into recovery (once phone turned off itself in recovery..). when trying to boot into android phone hangs on LG loading screen and LG loading screen disappear as soon as unplug the phone from the outlet . LED light remain off while plugged in, it should be lit when being charged.
2, when it is plugged into a computer phone seems to boot itself, LG logo flashing on and off quickly seeming like bootloop.
I have flashed the rom again it didnt help.
Edit 1: fixed by factory restore

CWM supports charging your battery, so use the strongest charger you have (spec is 2amp charger) and leave it there for a few hours. the reason it flips on usb connection is because most usb is only 0.5 amp or maybe 1amp if you're lucky.
You should be ok gotta be patient though.

Yea you just have to leave the charger in for a while..mine did this...but you can also try this
Unplug the charger hold down the power button of 15sec and then put the charger back in (the red light should come on)
Then the screen will show the LG logo about two times and then the battery charging logo
And just give it a minute or two and power it up
The LG charger is 1.2a

Battery death bootloop!

Im on a trip, and my battery died. When I got to the hotel, I immediately plugged in my tablet. As soon as it got to 1%, it started booting up, but because of how much battery it uses just to boot, it basically died a second or two after it booted up. Then, it repeats. As soon as it gest 1%, it starts turning on again, then when it gets to the lockscreen, it powers down. It's like a bootloop, but I can't get out of it :crying:

You try holding the pwr button for about 10 seconds or maybe longer when it's trying to boot? It might force it to just shut down.
There's a "forced Shutdown" button right by the SD card slot (it's colored yellow in my sgp561, maybe different for other sub-models). Press that button for 10+ seconds using paper clip tip or similar pointed object and it will shutdown completely.
Another possible solution is to plug the charging usb cable to a high current usb charger (4 amp+) that should be able to supply the energy demand at close to 0% battery charge.
Another option will be to boot into bootloader. Bootloader uses barely any battery. When it's not plugged in and off, press and hold power+volume down. Then plug in. You could try to do that while plugged in, but likely not to work.
