Does anyone have a hardware version 03 yet? - HTC EVO 3D

I was wondering if they have been released yet or the timeframe in which it usually happens..I love my EVO but had to return two so far for various issue's..first one had terrible data speed..returned it..second one ran flawless and a lot better 3/4 g service but had a blown earpiece ..third one which I still have is doing pretty good but I feel still feel may have some early adopter. Bugs..it seems some ppl have great phones while others not so good..so I'm thinking maybe they will be worked out in the next hardware version..is there a way to tell on the box which hardware you have? Or is it luck of the draw.
.
I only had one EVO 4G but bought it months after release..was their similiar problems with it as well? Lastly do you think the people that have issues..(besides obvious hardware issues) will be fixed VIA otas? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but if they are available I would like to acquire one before my 30 days are up..my 3g still isn't up to.snuff..and after having an e3d with good 3g I feel it may be the phone and not the sprint service alone.

Hardware V2 here with no problems at all.

On all the boxes I seen for the EVO 3d..all of them ended with a uppercase A on the model number.

I've been keeping an eye out, searching for people with an 0003. Haven't found one yet. Don't think they exist yet. If and when they do, I'm just hoping they won't have crooked screens like most of the 0002's.

I have version 0002 and have not had any of the problems others report. No light leakage, nothing. *knock knock on wood*

0006 and 0007? Really? Any screen crookedness or dead pixels on those? They've really had 5 hardware revisions so far in just 3 weeks?
Mike

You'll probably see them come August.
I bought my EVO 4G almost a month after release day & my handset was 003.

Evo 3D First Batches

Remember when the Evo 4G came out and how all of the screen separation, light leakage and other defects came with many of them? You guys think it's worth it to wait a while after the release date to get it? (to have a "perfect" phone)

I still have a first batch evo, got it release day. In fact My first batch EVO is the first Sprint phone besides my Sanyo M1 that I didn't need to have replaced in 10 years.
i would think that they had a checklist of mistakes not to make again. hope fully they did that.
No, there is a warranty. But if you'd rather wait...have fun!
The biggest issue had to do with how the screen was glued down and how the glue they originally either wasn't enough or eventually wore out.
Unfortunately, this is one of the problems with being an early adopter. But since it'll be covered by warranty, you'll be fine.
If you don't want to bother with the hassle, it's better to wait a month or two and then get it. More prudent that way.
I have 3 first batch 4g and none of them have had any build issues.
I think by now they have this form factor down..I'm not worried and like they said warranty
I had my first Evo since a week after the release date. If I wouldn't have dropped it 2-3 months ago and cracked the screen, it would still be running today with no issues.
I also had a release day evo...and the phone worked great, the only reason I swapped mine was due to a few dead pixels...it wasn't a huge deal but they kinda bugged me when I was browsing which I do alot of...nothing my warranty didn't fix quickly.

If that's the quality of the 3D then I will be extremely happy.

my guess is they learned from the manufacturing issues they had with the EVO 4G. if not, then some people need to be fired and they need to revisit their procedures. but as with all manufactured items, there is always a chance of a defect.
my launch day (0002) EVO has treated me well, up until last month when i had to get the screen replaced due to unresponive area. new screen = no light leakage/seperation or that splotchy area that looks horrible (those who had it, know what i mean)
I had an original 002 from launch day, and the only issue I had with it was it developing white spots over time. Just two weeks ago, I had it swapped (only because they didn't have that screen type in stock), but like others have said, don't be afraid because you do have warranty, and also I would suggest getting insurance for most smart phones these days since they're so valuable.
Just pre-ordered mine from WireFly ($179.99). I'm upgrading from the Hero, so I can't really speak for any of those problems, but the people I know who got the Evo 4G when it was released didn't have any problems at all.
I've had mine since launch day and she is going strong I'm glad for that because the sprint store will trade this bad boy in which make the E3d $50 life is good

Version 02 - Display is crooked

It seems that HTC has done it again... I know the possibility for defects are possible when mass producing anything, but my new EVO 3D display is crooked. Though it may be slight, once it is noticed you can't stop seeing it every time you use the phone. Went to Sprint corp store and with much hesitation from the manager, I was able to get them to exchange the phone. The only bad thing is, my new phone also has a slight lean to it (though better than the previous.) Really disappointed with HTC
Yup didnt notice it for weeks then one day i noticed it and i was like wow!

The fact that the NS4G (despite having an equal-or-better meter) dropped and bounced even more calls....which sucks, cuz that screen and camera are awesome...even though it feels cheap. It was fast...mega fast for a 1single core...roms a plenty...AOSP to the core...everything I wanted except a god damned signal.
It's nice to have a weighty phone in my pocket again...reminds me that I have a phone in my pocket at all times, lol.
It's good to be back. Lessons learned, etc etc etc. Plus that puts me that much closer to unlock day....and I'll probably trade this up ($350 trade in value) for an Nprime when it comes out--unless Samsung manages to bungle yet another radio.
I have version 0002 and my screen is fine. Man, I keep reading about all the problems you guys have and I think I understand what is happening. When you guys order your phones or go into a store to get one, they run a retinal scan on you to identify you as an XDA user and then get your phones from the reject bin or something.
I mean statistically speaking, there is no fricken way so many of you could have so many problems. It would mean like 1 out of 3 phones are defective or something.

LOL!
I have a version 2 hardware phone and the screen is perfect.
Between myself and my friend, we have four Evo 3D's, all 0002 hardware and all four have the crooked screen. The worst part about the crooked screen is that it throws off the touch, especially toward the bottom edge of the screen. When you touch a part of the screen, the touch point is actually off just a little because the digitizer where you touch is straight but the LCD underneath is a little off.
From what I've seen, only 20% to 30% (at most) of the 0002 units have a straight screen. The majority are crooked.
Mike
****, I got it. I never noticed it before. I wish I never started reading this thread. Probably would of never of seen it. Maybe its in my head. But it does look like its kind of tilted to the right in portrait position. Is that what yall have?

Returned EVO for issues. Second one is perfect.

My first EVO that I bought on launch day was having some issues. Sense reloading, WiFi not disconnecting after I left my house, 3g sucked, battery life wasn't the greatest, and just seemed laggy. The guys at best buy tried argueing with me and said to reproduce the issues. I was able to show them the 3g connection and my WiFi issue. The guys tried telling me the WiFi was because the phone will automatically connect to all open access points. This is where we started to argue for a minute or two. I told them that was BS, we argued for a few seconds then I cut him off and asked, "Are u going to honor your return policy or what?" I hate it when Best Buy employees try to act that they know everything.
Anyways, the second EVO is running great. WiFi acts normal, way less lag, battery has gone for 2 full days without being charged and moderate use. And sense hasn't reloaded one time yet. Im really glad I traded it out for another instead of just returning. I'm going to give it one more week before I root. I'm missing my apps from my OG EVO.

HTC has a built in feature called SmartSync, which disables data after a period of non-use for deep sleep. If you check the dev threads, there's a fix for it, but it requires some smali editing. Some of the more recent roms have it built in. So the whole WiFi/3G disconnect thing is actually a feature believe it or not...lol

im having the light leak issue also.
also the sticker i had was black, like some generic sticker placed over the small clear one that was probably broken already.
i may have been sold one that someone returned. mf's
question: do i have to go to the same store i bought it at to exchange it?
I understand your pain dealing with people that are less knowledgeable than you (a Sprint rep tried to tell me that the SD card on my phone could be what was causing the reception issues if the card was 32gigs, no joke). However, try to understand that most of the time these people are just following instructions set forth by their employers. When things usually start to escalate like that, stay polite and ask for a manager. Believe me, it works better.
Anyway, I'm glad you got a non-defective phone and can start to enjoy it

I exchanged my first EVO LTO for frequent reboots at a Sprint Corporate store, 2nd one perfect!
On my third LTE. Should have kept the first one. Hope the new shipment BB gets is better than the ones they had last week.
First LTE: Dust under glass and slight light leakage
Second: Pixel stuck in on position and screen has the flex/ripple issue when under medium pressure
Third: Has flex/ripple issue as well and wifi on this one and 3 G has been worse than the first two
Next shipment comes in Friday. Crossing my fingers for a GOOD one!
My first was light leakage and second was ripple and all I can find around here all have the ripple, hope this goes away in the upcoming batches...

I had to return my first one as well. I was not getting calls txt or voice mails. Data worked find but nothing else.

I suspect that it was not a phone issue but an activation issue.

You mean like the Galaxy S3, the phone that will have zero problems on launch day? Good luck. My first Evo had a bad pixel, and I am waiting on the replacement. I was going to get the SG3 instead, but after reading the UK SG3 threads, there are a lot of issues. I decided that the Evo is best for me. Whether it is superior or not is subjective.
Yeah, as stated above, it will have issues. Hell, go to the S3 forums here at xda and review the complaints of various folks.
In the end, my EVO is imperfect, but as usual with HTC, software updates will fix these annoyances, so I'll be patient.

It is amazing to have the chance to compare two different phones. I ended up unfortunately having that experience after I dropped my brand new EVO LTE in the toilet. My first phone I noticed that it didn't auto dock on my car dock even with the option turned on.
Haven't tried the camera on the new phone but old phone seemed like it didn't take sharp pictures like I was expecting but ones that were more out of focus than really blurry.

[Q] Some Atrixes without digitizer problems?

Hi all, I have read huge amount of threads about problems with digitizer in Atrix 4G. My question is - who has never had problems with it? And how long have you got your Atrix 4G?
i have my atrix over a year now, never had any digitizer problem nor other. i have also tested over 10 different roms (currently with atrix-mrom for having the best battry life on my humble opinion).

I never had any problems with mine.
I "inherited" it from my girlfriend a couple of months ago, and she bought it soon after it came out, so Feb or Mar 2011.
She never had any problems with it either, but she did have problems with her first one, I don't remember what exactly was going on, but I think it was digitizer-related. So she had it replaced about a month after she got it, and that's the one we have now. Like I said, no problems with it whatsoever (knock on wood).
You shouldn't really go by all those people having digitizer problems. It only makes sense you'll only ever hear from them. People not having any problems won't even bring it up. It's like trying to estimate if some device is reliable by reading on a forum about it, and then realizing there are a lot of people complaining about this and that problem, and then thinking "wow, I guess that device really has some issues". No it doesn't mean that! It's just that you won't ever hear from all the other people that DON'T have any problems.
Mine has it. But no phone is free from fault eh?

I've had mine (replaced by att warranty due to fault with a REPLACED digitizer I did) since January. No problems at all. Just picked up another on ebay, no problems. I also never overclock as it kills the processor quicker (I know this from my pc experiences) and heats up the phone.
The only problem my atrix have/had is a dead pixel, but it's just one, so it doesn't bother me much.
I never had any problem with my digitizer, my atrix is ~1 year and 3 months old. Never overclocked it.

Its a wear and tear part like the battery cover . Comes down to how hard the phone is treated during its life span. Like tires on a car if you drive like a mad man your going to be replacing tires much sooner than expected.
Or to look at it very literal. The digitizer is comprised of several layers and components. Most important is the Gorilla glass. All the shocks, bumps, pressing and shaking has to go somewhere right? That kind of energy is transferred threw hard surfaces like glass and is absorbed or redistributed by the foam adhesive the digitizer floats on but not all of it. Some gets to the ribbon and delicate connections where tear happens. That's why there is flex in the aptly named flex ribbon. Not perfect tech however.

[Q] Chance to buy a EVO LTE for cheap, should I?

Hey guys, I've got the opportunity to buy a basically new EVO 4G LTE from a friend for $150.
Are you still happy with your phones?
I've got a Touch Pro 2 right now and am getting tired of it, I think it's time for an upgrade, LOL!
I would really like to get the One or S4, but don't have the funds for either of them just yet, still a student. :crying:
I can't do any savings with contracts on new phones either because I am planning to BYOSD over to Ting.
Yeah definitely should this phone has some great development and is very smooth and powerful. It will do anything you need and it has one of the best screens around. Enjoy it you want regret it.
I'd go for it, especially if you're not on a carrier that subsidizes...that's a good price. I haven't seen any pricing for the One but it will easily be upwards of $600 retail and it's not enough of an upgrade over the evo (imo)...this is a solid phone. Most people will be waiting for the next round of phones, which gives you plenty of time to save up for one You will be more than happy with your evo until then.

No issues with mine...it's a great phone that I think could last the normal user an extended period of time. Unfortunately for my gadgets, I have an uncontrollable desire to have the latest and the greatest so the One will soon (hopefully) be replacing my Evo LTE.
Maybe I'll pass it on to my gf to replace her sgs2 e4gt
compared to the touch pro 2, the evo lte will seem like the best phone ever made even if it has a bunch of issues. I paid 200 for a used one about 2 months ago and it's been totally worth it. the camera is amazing at how quickly it snaps pics.
I have had my evo LTE since launch day May 2 I think it was and have not has ANY problems with it.. This phone is great You will always find someone thats says they have problems with this or that but it like that with any phone out there.. Get this phone u will love it!! screen's nice.. battery lasts all day for me.. Its hella fast.. Smash's the galaxy s3 in benchmarks!! Camera is good.. Build quality is super good.. Feels solid in hand.. I would jump all over that deal
Wow, you definitely should!! I had the Touch Pro 2 also, but that was many years ago, and many devices since then! You'll love the Evo LTE, especially compared to the outdated TP2!!!

Thanks for all the advice guys. I ended up getting the phone for $120, pretty good deal I think, for minty condition.
The kickstand was a little loose, so I used the paperclip trick on the small little bolt. I hope that it doesn't come loose again.
I was thinking about putting a dab of Loctite or superglue on it?!?!
Now I just gotta find a slim case for it, I was thinking about Diztroic's TPU case.
Get that case. I got it as soon as I got my phone and still use it. Enjoy your phone
