WiFi issue - it isn't working - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hi!
I have problem with my P500.
I connected to my wifi router without any problem, but internet doesn't work for me.
Facebook aplication works fine - i can share posts and talk with friends, but when i want login to Android Market or enter to webpage - is't not working.
WTF?

Wake up.
~~

The issue is still disturbing me...
I can open 1, 2 or 3 pages, but no more. It's still loading, and loading... In this time youtube/android market/messenger works fine...
I REALLY NEED HELP.

what rom and kernel? is this an issue with your rom? maybe u need to configure something under wireless&networks (I've seen people having issues like this because of there access point name)
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App

Rom: default, 2.2.1. kernel 2.6.32.9
I set manually IP etc. but no effect.

Try changing the channel on the router

Yay, i don't know pass and username to my Edimax EW7206APg. Now it's set on 11.
Wifi on PC and notebook works fine.

OMG, this is the basic thing. You should know this...
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

wow it didn't work because you didn't put your password in, ask your network administrator (or am guessing one of your parents) for it. also sometimes they are left on the router themselves I know Virgin UK leaves the password for there routers on the router itself

its usally username - admin, password - admin
or username - admin, password - password
try these....
im having troouble with dolphin hd and it always says unable to load page...but dolphin mini works fine....

I cant recieve my emails via gmail app its just loading but nothing happen. At the end im getting an errormessage telling me "No connection".
After all i tried the standard emailclient delivered with Android but when i try to config i get an "connection with server failed" at first i thought may its a bug with the autoconfig of the mailclient so i entered the imap adress and port by my self but the same as with the autosetup
anyone knows how to solve the problem?
Try on standart mailclient the manual settings..

I tried manual. Finaly i recognized that there are several other apps are not working too. For example the facebook, the go!chat and the android market... anyone knows how ro fix
Try another rom, like tripĀ“s miui...

[Q] Connect to a 802.1x EAP network?

Hello XDA devlopers,
I'm trying to connect to a WPA EAP network in my school, or a 802.1x EAP network as my mini pro regocnizes it.
when trying to connect it asks me for a password/password consisting of 8 letters/numbers.
i have tried using the same methood we do for our laptops we use at our school wich is a Unique SchoolID and a password. but that doesn't work since it want whatever i write to match the first line of password.
However, when just writing something random like 8 number 1 digits it goes on and asks for a connection type were i can choose from EAP, WPA and etc where i chose EAP because thats what im guessing our school uses (i'm no network technichan so i dont know anything about wireless networks at all, otherwise i probably wouldn't post here for help lol.)
But when i have choosed the connection type it tries to connect for like half a second and then stops and goes back to sleeping mode or searching for new potentional wi-fi/wireless networks.
Please note that my phone is a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro device with default 2.1 sony ericsson stock rom and no root, aswell as the standard app to connect to wi-fi / wireless networks. (Settings > Wifi & Mobile networks > Wi-Fi)
If i have written this in the wrong thread or have written something not understandable please PM me and i will try to correct the text.

Joel

I would suggest looking up on your school's website to see if there are instructions for setting up the internet on your mobile device. I would assume they have instructions for different platforms.
I struggled to get it working at my school in which i had to get a certificate installed and blah blah blah. I can't remember if i got it working or not, it's been a while. I remember hitting a problem with WPA2 authentication on the mini pro. Hopefully you can get it working.

Thank you,ctalcant
But I've talked with our computer technichan team, but they said that they dont care and wont give support to anything else than our laptops, i also checked our schools website page and there were no instructions on how to connect, not even with our computers. only found a page telling us to visist the computer technichans if we experienced trouble.
So sadly, they wont support or help me with this. Any other suggestions?
Edit: i went there again and had a talk with a diffrent person, who seemed to have an android phone aswell, but he said that a certificate is needed to connect, atleast for the laptops in our school, but sadly he couldn't give it out because it was aginst their rules to do so. He said that he used a non-protected guest wi-fi that is aviable for our school, but to connect that you need a username and password aswell, and he couldn't give me one unless i was a guest at the school. And what iv'e heard about the guest one is that its suckey anyway so if there is any other solution i would be very happy.
Edit 2:
I have been using ubuntu on my school laptop before and got the wi-fi working without installing any certificate, but then i just selected to use EAP-PK2 something when editing settings on how to connect to the wifi with the ubuntu laptop and then filling the boxes with my schoolID login credentials and got it working.
And Android is based on linux so there should be some workaround for this?
Very Thankful for any answers about this.

I dont think it is possible for me to set up and proxy for the schools network.
They only have blocked one port and i think thats port 22 or something for security reasons, no other pages are blocked afaik.
Im starting to need the wi-fi access at school badly, i think i could pay whoever came up with a workaround or solution that works lol.
i'll post a fix tommorrow, i am currently trying it myself and it seems to work quite good!
please make a backup before you try.
it worked fine on mine though
802.1x working again!
hope it works for you!
you will loose draft N ability unfortunately
so only 54 mbit

i will try this as soon as i root my phone again, because currently is unrooted and using default stock rom.
still waiting for the CM7 for mini pro to become 100% stable for everyday use. I use my phone alot and with a rebooting phone or non working phone is a bad idea lol
Also make sure to download telekom global root cert.
Its not installed by default
Its listed on the webpage
Pki.dfn.de
Its often used for 802 connections

Hi
I am able to connect to our corp network using 802.1x EAP with PEAP and MSCHAPv2 without using a cert. My phone is on fw MiniCM rc1.

Even is an old thread I see no point in opening a new one.
So, I bought android (4.2.2) mini pc and created a pc out of it, but I am having trouble with connecting to students network cause it has 802.1x authentication, and you login with faculty username and password.
On windows we use Securew2 software and that solves problems, but when connecting on android I cant find any options to select EAP or TTLS authentication, anyone has a clue?

I run JB 4.1.2 on my x10mini and it just asks for username and password on 802.1x networks and then it connects. Not tested with a 'closed' network like a university setup, but with the public hotspots from my provider it just works.

Ah, that's a different animal altogether. I hope for you there's someone with a good answer to that, or try the playstore to see if there's anything available that implements that functionality.

[Q]WiFi conects but there is no internet

Hello guys,
As you can see from the thread's title my phone can conect to any WiFi router(in WiFi menu it says it's conected) but Market doesn't work and my browser(Dolphin and stock browser too) says that "Tha page is unavailable". I also tried other internet using applications, none of them works.
But they all work when I enable 3G. So the problem is only with WiFi.
I'm on mik's CM7 v6.5.7 with franco,Kernel 19.4.
I did a data wipe, then reflashed all the stuff and the problem didn't solve. I also tried fserve's gbs v15 kernel.
Any ideas? I am sorry if this is a NOOb question, I've benn searching the answer for three days and didn't find anything...
EDIT: The problem is not the router. I tried to conect to the internet at severeal places: resataurants, caffes and public hotspot and none of the internet using apps does work.
Dumb questions first.
Can anything else connect to the internet through the router? ie is the router connected to the internet?
Can you access files on a server attached to the router, using an app like ES File Explorer?
Pfff....
The problem is not the router. I tried to conect to the internet at severeal places: resataurants, caffes and public hotspot and none of the internet using apps does work.
Password needed to connect probably or something like that. Or, the device connect to the router, but it got have permission from the router owner to use bandwidth.

All the WiFI networks were OPEN, so none of them needed password. And my phone says that it's conected(the wifi icon on the statusbar shows this too) . Do you think that in a restaurant you aren't allowed by the router owner to use the WiFi network's bandwidth? That would be really funny.
Slightly less dumb question next
Have you tried using something like Wifi Connect to log onto the wifi, so that you can access the wider internet? My phone shows lots of "open" wifi downtown, but I still need to connect (log in) to use them.
I must admit, I'm a NOOB...
I didn't try that, I don't even know what it is.I think there is a misunderstanding. I don't have a router at home, I only tried at public hotspots and some restaurants, so I wasn't able to se or customize the routers.
EDIT: Oh, I know what you are talking about.
There wasn't any site on which was written I should log in to ise that network. It should have worked without that.
Wifi Connect is an app - download from the market and see if it helps you out
OK, I will try it tomorrow, since now I'm not able to do it. Thank you in advance.

Internet working with browser, but not with apps

Hi Guys,
I have 3 android devices (xperia s, htc one x and a galaxy s3) connected to a wifi network. This is kind of a protected network and there is a firewall involved. Also the devices are getting IP via DHCP. The problem is that i am able to access web site via browser but when i try from the application, its showing i don't have internet connection. There is no proxy configured in this network. There is an IP filtering in the router which filters the IPs starting with a particular series. But the web site and the application which i am trying to use are supposed to use this IP series.
I've come across issues with internet connections on mobile devices. This might not work for you, but it has worked for me in the past.
I assume your devices detect all of the settings you need automatically?
If so, you may need to manually change some things.
1) Check your IP and make sure it's set right for your network
2) Check your DNS settings. Sometimes the default ones don't work properly.
Try:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
These are from Google's OpenDNS and have served me well in the past.
If all else fails, check the network itself.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply.. but as i mentioned earlier, the device is getting IP and other stuffs via DHCP. I am not allowed to configure something statically. It has to come via DHCP. But the interesting fact is that an iPAD in the same network is able to get internet in both browser as well as applications.
Hey, if you need to get settings via DHCP then you should talk to your network admin for the settings

I am getting all the settings perfectly.. hope haven't read my first post.. i am able to browse via browser.. the problem is with the apps.. that y am confused about.. i know this kind of a problem may arise when we have a proxy configured in the network.. but we dont have a proxy in the network.. in fact an ipad hooked up to the same network works totally fine..
Did you get your apps working?
Nope..still facing the same issue.. internet is available in browser. but not in the apps..
There is no problem with your phone. I am sure that changing your router will fix this problem. Try another router with your internet connection and tell me if that worked.
Press thanks if I helped you!
We have tried that as well.. The situation got little worse with the new router. Now Internet is not working with ipad as well. But it's working in browser for both ipad and android. Another thing I have observed is that the Web pages load blazing fast in a windows and blackberry but the same site loads very slow in android and ios. As I mentioned earlier, the network is having a high security with firewall and encryption. Is there any limitations for android and ios to work with these kind of highly secure network??

I think that the firewall is the main culprit. Try disabling the firewall if you can.

Ya.. even i feel the same... but its a secure network and firewall is a vital part.. so we cant disable it.. is there any known limitations for android to work with firewall or networks with these kind of setup.
Just mess with WiFi settings

Hi - I was experiencing this on a Galaxy Nexus with no SIM card only connected to WiFi - on a WiFi router that used to work.
The solution was to
1. Open up DHCP settings on the phone (Settings -> WiFi -> My Network -> Advanced)
2. Manually set them to something that's wrong.
3. Save.
4. Set DHCP back to what it was.
5. Save.
May not work for you, but for me, after about 30 seconds the app store and other apps started working again without having to do a factory reset or doing anything to my router/network.
Let me know if this helped!

cant login from my home network - PLEASE HELP

Weirdest problem ever
If i try to login using my home network ( cable + wifi router) the same second i enter login info i get http error 500 > xda cant handle the request. When not logged in i can normaly browse forums but as soon as i try to login i get this and when refreshing, im not logged in
Both chrome and ff, and my mobile browser when phone is connected via wifi
The weird part is that, no matter what info i enter into user/pass fields the result is the same.
I just found out a big discovery for a phone, that many people would appreciate and i cant write about it.
Oh and yes - tried to restart my pc, my router, modem, etc. A friend of mine told me that MTU size is the problem but i really dont know a single thing about that. Its set to 1500 default and i can only guess what the correct mtu should be
Please help, thanks in advance
