I am thinking about upgrading to the evo 3d in a few hours. (15-20)
and i am wondering, is it really worth it?
can anyone please tell me about any issues with the phone that YOU personally have experienced that are major.
main use of phone will be 2d movies, music, texting and some web browsing. calling of course.
lemme know please and thanks lol
My biggest gripe about the phone..... Google Music/ data roaming.
I had NO issues using Google Music on data roaming with the NS4G. With this, I can't really data roam anymore.
My speeds are slow on 3G (but so are everyone's it seems, Sprint is becoming overloaded obviously), and there are said to be towers out in my area.... I've heard that excuse for the past two years... I'm getting sick of it. All of that combined with not getting some phone calls and text messages is a bit annoying.
Other than that one inssue (which affects any sort of data usage really off Sprint's network), I love the phone for what it is! MUCH nicer feel than any other phone (including the OG EVO) I've ever used, and I love how comfortable it is to hold.
Battery life is decent for me, camera is everything I wanted, and you and somewhat attach a lanyard thing to the phone if you really need too (good for takin' pictures).
I'm happy with it, I'm going to keep it..... Sprint's probably not going to like my complaint tomorrow, lol.
So other than there are really no issues? like overheating or anything?
After 20 days I'm 100% satisfied. Take it for a 30 day test drive, if you don't like it return it.

If this is really all you want to do, then don't upgrade. The phone is amazingly fast, stable, and Sense 3.0 is well organized and very nice to look at, IMO. However, what you seem to want to use the phone for is not something that warrant upgrading to this device for.
I upgraded because previous Evo lagged with some of the games I played on it, it had Bluetooth connectivity issues with many devices I wanted to pair it with, my internal memory was full even using apps2SD, etc. I can benefit from the upgraded hardware on this phone due to the type of user that I am.
In your case, however, if you can afford it and want a phone that can do everything you want and a LOT more, then go for it. What I'm trying to say is that you don't NEED a 1.2 ghz dual core processor, 1 gb of ram, a high resolution screen, 3D capabilities with native mirroring to an HDMI source via MHL, etc. to send texts and browse the web. lol
But it won't hurt!
Love it. Former g2x owner.

I'm on my 3 rd inspire this week. So I'm thinking if getting an Atrix. I'm keeping my captivate to use as a toy. I know there won't be much development on the Atrix like there will be on the inspire. But I'm thinking that if i keep my cappy then I wrong need to worry about modding my daily driver phone.
My reasons for returning the first 2 inspires are due to screen issues. 1st one had a really grey tint to it, 2nd one had a dead pixel on it. neither phone made it longer than a day and now phone 3 has the grey tint also.
I love the screen size but im not going to be able to keep returning them everyday. Is the Atrix a good daily driver or will i get bored with it very quickly. Should i wait for the samsung infuse to come out. Does anyone have an idea if when samsung might release it?
I know I've rambled on about this but in unsure about the quality of the Atrix.
Thanks

Believe it or not,I was actually thinking about taking my Atrix back, trying the Inspire out , then taking that back for theAtrix again. but a couple things stopped me.
First I had the Evo before the Atrix and to me the Inspire is just the Evo all over again with the exception of the new HTC Sense.
Second was the battery life. I been following some Inspire threads and some people have been posting some remarkable stats regarding battery life. But everybody uses their phone differently. With my Atrix I get well over 15 hours on once charge. As on my Evo (I know it's not the Inspire) but I get about 7-8 hours on a full charge and sometimes not even that.
Third, I have a strange feeling that the bootloader may be unlocked. But if it doesn't, I'll still be happy, The speed of the Atrix already satisfies me along with the 16Gb internal storage plus my 16Gb SD Card...32GB
And lastly, Motorola is suppose to be releasing an update that will include the ability to play and capture video in 1080p. That's something that that HTc hasn't implemented yet.
So if I were you...I would get the Atrix.
can u guys stop it already with this subject. to much already . click search and you will find out which one is better
I tried an inspire and it wasn't for me. 1.8 oc was as fast as an atrix...until you had two processes running then the atrix obliterated it. That and the battery was to weak for my needs. And lets be honest, the inspire is in all reality a 8 month old phone. Would you buy a captivate if it was just now coming out? I'm pretty sure there getting close to getting around the boot loader and hsupa is also right around the corner.

+1 for the atrix...everything ihas been great so far, only have two complaints. First is there seems to be a slight miss calibration with my touch screen (could be device special specific) and two, off coloration with my camera (hopefully sw update will fix this). Everything else is great, battery life, speed, personally no problems with the resolution, and gotta love the form factor. Sure its spastic but it doesn't feel cheap and fits well in my hand. Search around though, tons of threads loving/hating on the atrix...pick your side.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Gave my wife my Captive and got the Atrix! Wow!!! Atrix just walks all over the Captive and Inspire. The unlocked Web-top is awesome. Picked up a Microsoft bluetooth keyboard and mouse hooked the phone up to my LCD TV. Also Im running a DLINK 825 Dual band the Router and the phone does 5GHz Band which makes it great for videos on the net. So much stuff to play with and tweak!
I know that there are probably other threads just like mine but I just had to get this off my chest.....for everyone that's disrespecting this phone and saying its a slouch, slow etc.
Some of you may know me from selling/trading phones over in the marketplace. I've had every high end phone on Sprint, some phones I've owned twice or even three times. Nevertheless, I got rid of them because I just didn't like the phone or wanted something else.
Well, I got me another Photon and I come to find that I really like this phone. True it has some issues that's in my opinion is very minor. Those issues consist of the small amount of laginess when unlocking the phone and for some reason when ever I'm typing the vibration of the key press just stops. Then it starts back after I stop typing again...I don't know what's up with that...but those are the only two issues I have with this phone.
Now as far as the good, the reception is out of this world. I get excellent service and bars where I got no or little service on both my NS4G and E4GT. The only phone that came close is my iP4s. I went to the mall here where I live and while the wife and kids were doing some shopping, I decided to pull out the Photon and surf the web. I was expecting that the data would be slow to non existence. But to my surprise, data was working and fast too. Again, this wouldn't have never happened on my NS4G or ET4G. The speaker on the photon is a beast as well. It definitely blows the NS4G out of the water. The E4GT has a good speaker too but begins to crackle at a certain volume.
Not to mention all the accessories that's available for the photo. I'm currently in the market for lap dock
If I'm just blabbing, I apologize. I'm just giving this device some love. I'm already talking my co-worker into getting an Electrify on US Cellular.

After 30 days having 2 new amaze 4g, I am leaving HTC for good.
THis phone has been a horrible experience. 2 new phones bought and in a month I went thru 7 phones, that is unacceptable.
we got 2 phones,1st. one died the first day and was exchanged for a new one, this one started overheating after 15 days, replacement from TMobile, came with banding on the screen even whith the phone off out of the box.
Second one, worked for like 2 weeks, gps died. Replacement from TMobile, came also with banding on the screen also out of the box.
I have issues with the WiFi in all of them, taken too long to connect or disconnect automatically when signal was lost. GPS not too reliable, overheats after 30 minutes and freezes.
Called HTC,and the Customer Service lady, said she was looking to get the phone but too many issues with it. Back covers (part of the issue probably) are in back order, and TMo TEch had no idea about the issue with the back covers.
It took me to email TMo executives to get another phone similar (Galaxy SII or SIII,or HTC One S, as far as I paid the difference, what I was willing to do, and even offer to Customer retention managers to do so) (TMo customer service would only exchange after days of fighting for a Exibit 2)
Finally, Multitask in Sense is unreliable at best, and the changes made to comply with Apple's ban, have made the phone really a poor choice.
Good luck guys, but i believe this phone is a lemon........ (And I am not a newbie in Android)

Yes sir, had quite a few plus features over the tmo software, much smoother, no bloatware, no app open restrictions (you can tap links, phone numbers, etc from anywhere like fb or the browser and it opens the corresponding app unlike the browser only restriction on tmo), only downside to using the telus software is that you have no wifi calling, but that doesn't even work properly on the tmo version, so it never bugged me one bit. You have to be super cid to do this though, so s-off is required, not sure if you can flash the zip I made or not, but I think a clean install to begin with is a better idea.

Very Satisfied (or lucky) w Amaze Tmobil
Being a relative newb to Android. I must say I have had very few hardware issue with this handset.
1. battery draw is easy enough to compensate, especially with a backup battery.
2. BT weak signal (much better with ICS)
3. An occasional black screen after a lengthy phone call. (since NRG stock look was installed) which is very seldom.
Wifi calling works well. Phone is snappy, camera is very good for a phone.
Currently rooted w/NRG - Stock look
I must say the Telus route sounds interesting.

This will be my 3rd HTC phone. Had the HTC Hero first, HTC EVO, and now I will be getting the EVO 4G LTE model sept 1st when I'm allowed to use my 2 year upgrade. I would like to know if there are any specific problems with this phone. I read a few things after it came out about the battery overheating easily, and also an issue about you losing the wifi card function thing. I really dislike the fact that the battery is built in. No way of changing it if it loses its capacity over a few years (unless you take the phone apart maybe). Are these issues still there, and are there any new ones? I will be rooting it day one of course as long whatever version I get then will be rootable at the time.

If you root you'll be fine, I haven't had any overheating at all and I'm overclocked to 1.9. The battery life is great. The multitasking problem is the biggest flaw with the phone. Apparently some of the ROMs have improved things but I haven't rooted yet so I don't know for sure. I don't think any have fully fixed the problem (could be wrong though) Basically if you switch apps and then switch back to the original app it will reload. Very annoying and wastes a few seconds every time you switch apps. Hope it will get fixed in an OTA soon.
Otherwise it's great, the camera and screen are fantastic.

The evo is a great phone. The battery does tend to get warm during heavy usage as with all phones but it doesn't "overheat". The wifi issue some people had was due to the trash ui that is sense which was fixed during the latest ota. Since you said the you will be rooting day one the mean rom fixes the multitasking issue and does improve your battery life considerably as does boost performance. Whether you get hboot 1.15 (the latest ota) out of the box or not, you will still be able to root your just won't be able to get s- off which you don't really need to begin with. The evo is the best Android smartphone on the market Imo and you should definitely get it. I have the evo gs3 and the one x and I can safely say the evo is the best one out of the three.

You'll be impressed. The design grows on you. I used to love the One X design but as time passed, I realized the EVO just looks like a beastly powerhouse. Multitasking and possible WiFi drop issues, you're good to go. Check out some other launchers if you get bored of sense.

If you rely on IMAP/POP or Exchange for E-mail, you'll find the HTC mail app is flawed...
The issue with rendering font sizes on HTML messages PISSES ME OFF to no end. I want to drive up to the nearest HTC office and throw this thing through their window.
HTC built a pinch-zoom feature in the mail and messaging apps. I prefer the smallest font sizes available, and the "small" setting is barely sufficient on SMS threads. E-mail is a different story as the font/size preference is completely ignored on HTML content. Not only do you have to tap to "display images" on EVERY E-mail, the text also appears ridiculously large, to the point where the message won't fit on a single screen and must be scrolled/panned.
I don't see how/why ROMs haven't addressed this issue yet and I've tried Fresh and MeanROM already. I'd like to ask them about this problem but I don't have enough posts yet to bring this up in the dev forums.
Does EVERYONE use GMail exclusively or what?

I use my phones with MetroPCS so I don't care about the LTE capabilities. is there anything going from an Evo 3D to the LTE that might leave me disatisfied? is there a better phone out there (CDMA)?
thanks.

i had the og evo and the evo 3d.. now i got the evo lte and it kicks a$$!!! this phone is a beast.. that is all
Best battery life of any android devices i have owned.
EVO 4G, Epic 4G, EVO 3D, Epic Touch.
Do not get the LTE yet! Do you like 3G speed on your brand new Porche?
I wish I had stay with my 3D.
i just hate this 3G speed!
I'm sorry I don't follow. Are you suggesting the speeds I'm getting on my 3D are better than what I would get on the same service with the LTE?

Cheating on Post 8... HEY MOM WHERE IS THE MEAT LOAF??!!
If you're not having any issues with your EVO 3D, I'd suggest you stick with it. For me, the EVO LTE isn't much of an upgrade because of all the problems I have with it. Others may not have these problems... I dunno, but here's my list:
* It locks up and I have to reset it constantly.
* Characters or whole freakin' words disappear after they've been typed. This bugs me more than everything else.
* Multitasking is an absolute joke because the phone constantly refreshes itself when you leave an app and go to another.
* My text messages don't send or I don't receive any quite often.
* Connecting to the web is always an issue even when the phone is showing a full strength signal. I usually end up grabbing a different phone to do what I was trying to do.
* When I download stuff from the web, the content gets stored on the phone's internal storage instead of the SD card like it's supposed to.
I've had these very same issues even when my phone was bone stock. My phone is rooted now and it's running on the VIPER 4G ROM, and it STILL has the same issues. I still have and use my EVO 3D on a different line... I'm glad I didn't trade it in.

That's lame that you are having all those issues. On the last one though, you do know you can choose where things are downloaded to.

I have my og evo 4g on another line and even when it is on 3g it gets much better service than my lte. For example, on my golf course the lte cant even stream pandora. The og evo never misses a beat. IMO this phone just wasnt meant for 3g.
I would agree on the battery life though, and that is about the only thing keeping from going back to the og evo all together.

I've tried adjusting every setting there is on the Dolphin browser, Google Chrome, the built-in browser and the phone settings and it still won't work right. I'm not too concerned with that issue though... it's a minor annoyance in comparison with everything else.
Stock browser, settings, advanced, download storage.?

thanks for the feedback guys.
after researching both phones, I'm going to cheat on HTC and go over to the Samsung Galaxy SIII.
more ram, bigger screen, replaceable battery (easily the most convincing argument for me since I typically buy my Seidio big batteries before the phones), and connectivity with all our existing Samsung electronics.
Let's hope I don't regret it...
The best handset I've ever had, by FAR. The LTEVO is as good as it gets... Until the new HTC hardware rolls out this Fall, of course.

Yup, that's how my phone has always been setup. I'm gonna try flashing a non-Sense ROM (if there is one) to see if it'll get rid of my issues.
Got blue (me) and white (wife) SIIIs today. They look great and are very light. Still very nervous leaving HTC but I think change every couple of years is healthy...right?

The Samsung phones are ok. I have an SII that I picked up a few months ago. The only thing I'm not too fond of with the Samsung phones are the Super AMOLED screens. They're a little too saturated with color and not bright enough for my taste.
Coming from someone who knows SPECS and performance, dont go with the Evo LTE.
Thats the phone I currently have and from looking at my signature, I have been on almost every Droid phone even the ones on the GSM side of the world.
The Evo LTE is a good phone but it does have its problems. The biggest and only real problem you will notice is the tasking. If your in a app or brower and if you leave it and try to come back to it, the phone will attemp to reload the whole app or page your on. And if your on Sprint 3G that can be a pain LOL.
If anyone on here tell you the phone is a beast or the best phone on the market, they are either fanboys of HTC devices, or plain clear dont know what there talking about. Dont get me wrong, the phone isnt bad but the phone will start to slow down as you install more and more apps and HTC Sense does take up a good portion of RAM so expect your apps to close out a lot if you back out of them.
If your on the Evo 3D, the only upgrade you will really see is in the Camera and the Display of the Screen. The screen is 720p vs the Evo 3D QHD. As for the camera, its up there with the iphone 4s in my opinion.
If you had to choose which CDMA phone to get next I would say either the Galaxy S3 for its performance, perfect tasking and SAMOLED 720p Display.
Or the Galaxy Nexus to get that pure google experience that has basicly 0 system lag with the Jelly Bean OS.
Thats my 2 cents, to me HTC failed with this phone. The tasking problem with Sprint 3G is just fail. Impatiently waiting for LTE to come to Nashville TN the music city of the country...

Lol I have only had the multi tasking problem (stock rom) now running mean rom everything is perfect except sprints 3g in hawaii but ofcourse I knew what I was getting into when trading WiMAX for 3g so I can't complain, all the other problems you have posted leads me to believe you have a defective device, if so then I'm sorry for a bad first impression.

IMO the galaxy nexus from Verizon which I am familiar with has poor cpu/gpu performance compared to the evo lte. Gaming/video playback/3d graphics really made me sad from a Samsung google device. I do get ridiculous lte here 20-40mbps, just can't play any graphics intensive games without crazy lag and battery guzzling internals. I get a full day on my lte overclocked lol and I get 6-7 hours on my veri GN stock rom.
