Hi All
I have an unlocked (not debranded though) HTC 7 Mozart which is branded to T-Mobile Germany.
I have put in a UK T-Mobile SIM...and in the UK it has been working fine voice, data etc.
However, when I first went overseas with it (Italy) the data connection did not work at all..got the text message saying need a booster package etc. to use roaming data.
Responded to text to enabled data booster and T-Mobile acknowledged active...but when trying to browse internet it says "page not found" (rather than showing agreement splash screen) and emails are not syncing.
Checked that roaming enabled (yes) and also tried 3 operators (Telecom Italia, 3 and WIND) but all no good.
Wanted to check APN settings but Windows Phone 7 will not allow it (only option to add a new APN!) :-(
Other people with Tmob UK SIMs (different handsets such as Nokia E72) were working fine.
Any ideas as to what is going wrong ? (maybe Tmob Germany handset with Tmob UK SIM is not good ?).
Thanks
tomhass
Looks as though the answer was to Add APN with the correct UK APN settings - I think the T-Mobile German ROM must have an embedded German APN (not visible though) which you have to override by doing an Add APN.

Hi all,
i just noticed something strange:
Normally, i am on O2 (Germany), which officially allows SIP calling.
I just put in a T-Mobile (Germany) SIM and noticed, that csipsimple couldn't register. Ok, i thought, T-Mobile doesnt support this.
So i switched on Wifi.... and still no connection possible!!! I tried it 2 times, with the o2 SIM everythings fine, with T-Mobile it won't connect.
Found that very strange....Is the network provider somehow able to enforce some restrictions (e.g. no SIP protocols) on the device!??
Hi Everyone,
I have just joined Giffgaff in the UK as service provider. They use O2 network so they are classed as a "virtual provider" as far as I know.
I have entered the APN info in order to get on the net and send mails and all works great. But, I cannot send MMS.
>there is no place in the OS to enter MMS details
>on MSFT site it said that the phone will read the SIM on first boot assuming ADC is enabled.
>I reset the phone and still no MMS
> I ring Nokia and they tell me that ADC is in fact enabled in unlocked Lumias.
>how can I check this?
>others say to install the network setup app but I can't because I don't have the very latest firmware
>some have tried this and now say that Giffgaff is not in the drop down menu so therefore can't be used.
So, as I am chevron unlocked, is there any way to change registry settings to ensure that ADC is enabled and therefore hopefully read the info from the sim card?
As long as your phone is debranded the handset should read the SIM card settings after a hard reset.
You should also be able to install the Network Setup app once it is released again (hopefully soon) after it was taken down to be updated.
If your phone isn't debranded then hard resetting won't help and you won't be able to install the Network Setup app. You won't even be able to see it in the Marketplace.
See this thread for more information on debranding.
See this thread for more information on Network Setup app/MMS/ADC.
Thanks for this great info. My phone was bought from Clove and is supposed to be unlocked. There is no branding other than Nokia. The problem is, I think, the fact that ADC may not be enabled even though it is unlocked. I called Nokia to make sure and they told me that all unlocked phones had ADC enabled and it was only carrier phones that had this functionality disabled. I somehow do not believe this.
If auto data config is not enabled then the info on the sim, card canot be read. And I reset my phone in the hope that I could get the MMS details this way but no success. I have read elsewhere as well that even I can get the network setup app from marketplace it will still not work because Giffgaff are not included as a service provider at this stage. Oh, what to do. WHy could MSFT not have given us this functionality within the OS in the same way as our old winmo platform.:-(
Network Setup app has been available for awhile already, at least for me. I just received an update for it through Marketplace this morning.

Network setup is not even in my marketplace because I am running 11451 firmware and it is only available in th every latest firmware (according to Nokia). And anyway, even if I had network setup available to me there is no mention of Giffgaff as a provider so I still cannot get MMS settings on my unlocked Nokia Lumia 800. What we need is either a MSFT update allowing us to change MMS settings or Nokia to include Giffgaff on their app. I think its that simple.
The network setup app came avalible today in the UK.
It would install and run but still couldnt send MMS on a vodafone branded device, so ive just debranded and its all working fine.
So i can now send and recive MMS
We need to get Giffgaff included on Nokia network setup app; simple as!
Sent from my Lumia 800 using Board Express
Hi,
I have my new Nokia Lumia 800
SIM unlocked but TIM branded (Italy)
I am in Bulgaria and the operator doesn't have auto settings for internet (for this model).
I am putting them manually as the people from the mobile operator said, also written in the website.
But there is no connection!
Just Wi-Fi...
Is it because of the TIM? I know there is no logic but...
Also from the mobile operator told me that there must be some setting in the Zune when I connect the device with the computer
Please help me, I realy need my mobile internet
Yes, that approach will not work.
Get your phone on wi-fi, got into the marketplace and open "Nokia Collection". Download "Network Setup". It will set your APN's for both data and mms. Hopefully it understands your carrier and can obtain the settings.
This worked for me, I had the same issue as my phone was set for Three in the UK but I am on o2.
I have TIM version too and it works with all operators here in Serbia. JUst download app suggested and it will work
Thank you guys!
You are awesome.. just like the Lumia
Just one more.. what are the symbols for network (3G, EDGE etc.)
Now my phone have "H" next to the signal bars.
H is short from HDSPA. It is know as 3G+ on some Samsung models and it is the highest speeed you can get
Thanks, I found what are the symbols meaning by the way...
Sorry for the stupid question
Hello,
I was recommended by the internet to ask you guys for help. I recently bought a Nokia 920 unlocked online. However, it has Rogers branding. I inserted my Telus sim and was able to make phone calls and send text messages. I noticed that there were some problems with data connectivity, but figured it was just because the Telus network sucks. I then promptly moved to Switzerland for the summer.
I've now got an Orange Prepaid sim and it's the same thing - can send texts and make phone calls, but no data. When I try to open IE, it brings me to a website that says my phone is not properly configured for Internet and MMS. I downloaded the Nokia Access Point app and followed the instructions on this page:
Google: Orange Network Nokia 920 manually configure internet
But still nothing.
Please help, I'm a complete noob and don't know what to do next. I really don't want to be stuck with a $500 dumbphone. :crying:
Thank you,
Mary

You need to manually enter the APN for Orange. Where I live the local Orange mobile operator has the APN: "internet".
I have bought a prepaid SIM card in Hungary and am not able to connect to the internet, though I can call and text. The location where I bought the SIM checked their database and could not find my specific phone most probably due to the Photon being only available in the U.S. He looked up the Atrix as it is said that it is the closest to the Photon. They were supposed to send an SMS with instructions, but I never received them. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP?
Have you tried connecting to Wi-Fi and using tweakker or apn global for the correct apn? Both are free in the play store.
I used a Vodafone sim in Romania and they have great customer service in their email center. I purchased my data plan at the Vodafone store, but with the photon you can't use the ussd codes that many operators require to select which plan you want. So the email center pushed the correct plan to my phone. Maybe try emailing Vodafone Hungary if all else fails.
Good luck.
