who is the guy responsible for this root
so the bounty goes to him
right now it is just temp root. Which means that the root will only last until you reboot the device. Teamwin from evo3d forum is responsible for the temp root. Perm root should soon follow. Those guys are brilliant.

So now that the Teamwin guys have temporary root for us, will programs like z4, gingerbreak and all those guys be able to give us permanent root? I have a feeling this is a no due to the bootloader still being locked. I am no dev expert, but I just wanted some food for thought here.

Once fre3vo has been pushed to the phone and chmodded, why couldn't you just execute fre3vo in the startup/boot process?
Mike
Since this is temporary root, it won't stick if the phone is turned off, restarted etc. Actually, after some time the system rw restarts it self so su permissions will vanish randomly, from what I've been reading.

Got nothing to do with downgrading...
As explained, this is a TEMPORARY ROOT VIA ADB using exploit by Team Revolution... works for LOCKED & S-ON Devices..
If your EVO is UNLOCKED, I think it should become full root... can someone try this?

So rooting can't help with changing some system files(maybe CID?) to downgrade?
Does rooting give you complete authority to modify the OS files? Sorry if the questions are too nooby.
Just trying to see if it is possible to unlock & S-off without breaking the warranty.

well,, with the TEMPORARY ADB ROOT, you can access and modify system files... but i'm not an expert in this area...
need a wise old developer here to do it for us...
Hi, I have tried it with a Malaysian set HTC Evo. I'm not sure what you mean by unlock. Does it mean carrier unlock? Sorry if this is a noob question. So far after reboot, apps such as titanium backup still cannot gain root access so I guess permanent root is not achieved.

is really hard to root
i try alot time for root but is still look like not rooted any ones can advise???
I finally perm rooted my phone for the first time ever today, however, I have noticed a significant drop of 4g speeds and overall reception. I was running stock everything before and now I'm just stock with perm root using hasoons toolkit. Any idea what is causing this? Is it the perm root?
Root doesn't mess with your root, maybe you're just being paranoid about rooting having effects on your device?
I used the revone method to S-OFF and unlocked bootloader, but I have no root access? I have tried superuser, Rom manager, and root checker basis. What can I do to root? I am a complete noob and don't want to brick my phone..

I got a Droid DNA today and I CANNOT get this thing to work. I'm using a Motorola cable (the phone didn't come with a USB). I've tried so many different tricks to get this to work but it refuses to complete the S-Off. It stops at the temproot. It says sleep in 10 secs and then says WTF am I doing.
Please give me any tips you can. Thank you.
Get in the Irc channel for the Droid dna or moonshine and contact beaups he will help you as he helped wrote moonshine so he knows it all.

For what it's worth I gained S-off on my htc one, and I tried moonshine and revone. Ultimately I was successful with revone, but not after some trouble. What I found is that you have to have an htc sense rom. In addition you can do all of this in terminal command on your phone it's pretty easy. Just put the revone file in the sdcard - data - local - tmp folder and then follow instructions in the video. Here's a link...

I'll need to try this when I get the chance later. Unfortunately the more technical the method, the less likely I am to succeed. Plus I'm not rooted so I dont know if terminal will work on my phone.
Uh oh. Ok I assumed you were rooted. I'm afraid this is part of your problem, in order to use these commands you need access to a root browser, which require root. I'll have to check to make to sure, but I think you need root to gain S-off. Stay tuned
You will need root in order to gain S-off. Here's some steps to get started:
1. HTCdev.com - you need to unlock the bootloader before you gain root. Htc will walk you right through. Just make an account real quick. ( Warning: This will wipe your device)
2. After Step 1 you can now gain root. This is the most updated recent root method that I could find at the moment.
http://www.howtorootphones.com/2013/07/root-htc-droid-dna.html
3. After step 2 download terminal emulator from the playstore.
4. Refer to the revone information I posted earlier in this thread.
Let me know if you have any questions

You don't need root to gain s off on the dna the only way to get root is to s off we are blocked on HTC Dev so moonshine or revone will work for you when you get it figured out. Did you try running moonshine in Linux 32 bit off of a flash drive that's how I got my soff

Ahh okay I wasn't sure, thanks for clearing that up. I had a feeling the process was a bit different considering it's a Verizon device.
