I was searching online for a solution to the slow charging issue with this phone.
And I read that this phone charges battery yo to 4.35v and so i checked mine to make sure if I have a same problem.
Lo and behold I see that my battery voltage reading heading toward 4.3v and in the history it indeed reached that high voltage.
Now I'm quite worried to leave my phone plugged overnight knowing I'm killing my battery.
Does anyone know if there is an update it fix coming?

You can't overcharge. There's a lot of tech in your battery to prevent that from happening.
Also, lo and behold means under or against all danger, stop misusing it.

I have had 3 3Ds (one I exchanged for another) They all charge to 99% in the same time it takes to go from 99% - 100%. I think there is a bug in there but I dont think its a big deal. And its definitely not going harm anything
I just checked mine and it hit 4.403v using Battery Monitor Widget pro. I hope its fine, but just in case I'm gonna take some screen shots for a few days. That way if HTC/Sprint try to act stupid about exchanging my battery I can show them why it happened and that there is nothing I can do about it. They should be happy I am one of the few (on XDA at least) that hasn't returned my phone for small isssues. I have very bad light leakage, but I always have a case on my phone so it isn't noticable and I have a dead pixel, but it is on the very bottom corner so it isn't noticable either. I personally think the battery will be fine, but i still choose to play it safe.
Lithium ion batteries can only handle up to 4.2volts and if you go beyond that you are trading temporary increase in capacity with its lifecycle.
Depending on a quality of a battery cell, some starts to puff, heat or combustion when overcharged.
I think It's time for me to measure cell voltage to make sure my phone is reading accurate voltage.
Ps. Google Overcharging lithium battery for fun videos

Lo means to look and see and behold means to stay ones attention on the acted upon object or subject.
Originally used in the manner of see what I have accomplished against the odds and obstacles.
It's now been appropriated for more mundane usage.
It's one of those idioms that have lost their original meaning and morphed into something else due to popular usage.
Thanks for being so kind about it.

Oh good, thanks for the etymological breakdown- you are single-handedly maintaining xda as a bastion of scholarly discourse on language!
All sarcasm aside.
What I do take issue with is the arrogance with which you corrected someone else for using the phrase in a manner consistent with common interpretation. Besides trying to come across as 'educated', I don't see any motivation for your rude correction.
So. Don't be troll and you won't come across as an jerk.

When my Evo 3D was reading 3.715mv, both of my multimeters were reading 3.73V and 3.74V.
It seems like HTC's strategy was to sacrifice some of cycle life by charging all the way up to =<4.4V and gain potentially 10~20% extra capacity.
Coupled with hardware protection applied on the battery cell, I would like to say in worst case designed scenario would be badly swollen battery or just simply not working one.

i noticed if i charge the battery that came with the evo 3d in an external charger. it only lasts about 2ish hours awake time and about 4 1/2 hours when charged in the phone. when the ebay batteries(1850mah) i got get alittle more than 4 hours in said charger. havent tried charging the ebay ones in the phone yet
so i agree with zsunsun in that HTC is sacrificing long life with more juice
edit: i also noticed on the HTC battery it said 3.8vdc vs the ebay ones say 3.7vdc

12. Don't drain the battery
The old advice to completely drain your battery to ensure proper operation doesn't stand any more, thanks to modern lithium-ion batteries. They don't have the charge memory issues that affected previous generation cells, and in fact perform better if you regularly charge them and keep them topped up.

It's perfectly fine to drain the battery.
You drain the battery to train the rom so it will learn the highs and low. That makes your battery icon more accurate from what I understand. So essentially it's not the battery we are conditioning it's the rom.

All you really have to do is train the phones charging system. LiIon batteries do not have the sorts of memory issues that old fashioned NiCad's did.

When your battery is full, it should optimally be taken off of the charger.
It's not the overnight part that matters, it's the fact that it probably sits on the charger for hours after it's been fully charged.
Try google. Enter 'tips for cellphone battery health' or something to that effect. Did this really need to be a post?

Don't pay anyone's charging tips any attention.
I have been charging my phones overnight for years and if anything, my battery health has remained roughly the same. I have never had to replace a battery for diminished health and/or inability to hold a charge.
I keep mine charged or charging whenever possible. This has always been my method and it has worked out great.

i also charge overnight, and have never seen a problem.
but charging overnight with sbc.... i wouldn't reccommend that (not that we have it on the 3d). when i got my 3d, i charged my og evo for like 3 days straight before taking it off the charger. a month later i take it out of a drawer to find the back cover off and a battery that is so swolen it'll no longer fit.
so yeah be careful those stories of explosions and stuff r probs true

Lol I agree SBC was a no no for a all nighter
But I do charge over night if it is dead dead
Ive been using 1800s lately..2 of them that i charge with an external charger that came with them. Usually getting around 18 hrs at normal/heavy use. Considering i was lucky if i ever made it 12 hrs on the stock 1500, it was a good deal.
So both 1800s were dead and the plug in charger wasnt charging for some reason...phone kept restarting.. so i popped in the stock as a last resort and it made it 1 day 13 hrs and might have kept going if i hadnt taken it out at 4%. Really??
What changed it? I had charged it on the external charger and itd been sitting unused for a few weeks. Or does the phone adjust to longer cycle times when using extended batteries?
Ill have repeat the experiment and see if i get the same results.

Some higher power decided you deserved an ungodly amount of battery life considering two 1800's broke on you
I've no idea as to why this would happen. You got quite lucky my freind!
Just to clarify for future reference, battery calibration has never been and never will be relevant in accurate battery readings. It tracks what hardware and software on the phone have used the battery, nothing more.
Anyway, I don't have an answer for you. The fact that you got significantly less battery from your 1800's as opposed to your recent stock battery experience simply doesn't make sense. Could you have been using one of your 1800's and not realized it? I know that sounds silly, but that drastic improvement from a considerably weaker battery is illogical. I think you're missing something.
I could be wrong though, and for your sake I hope I am. I hate the stock battery. It's horrendous. Trident 3800mah ftw!
I am a heavy user most days. I turn the data off most nights and mostly just use wifi at home. I didnt play as many vids or any games that day but none of that matters most of the time. Light or heavy use and i usually get crappy battery life. The 1800s being the exception. Not broke...i just hadnt had time to charge them..the external charger is very slow..im talking 6 or more hrs for a full charge. So honestly no idea how my stock battery outlasted my 1800s... im going to put it on the external charger and try it again next battery change. Couldve been a fluke.

Thanks!
It was definitely the 1500... the batteries look different and the 1500 actually counts down accurately...was nice having that again for a change. The 1800s i have seem more for the atrix than the x2 or theyr from a batch that just dont report accurately. It goes from 99 down to 1% within the first few hrs and then just stays at 1% for the majority of the charge. So i never know when its going to shut off on me.
The 1500 is charging..so ill give it another go whenever the 1800 thats in now dies.

Mine has done that also, more than once. Doesn't seem to effect anything though. Seems to go away after a battery pull. Weird.
It mustve been a fluke. Used the 1500 again and got maybe 16 hrs. Thats still longer than what i usually got out of it when it was my daily. Letting it die completely and then using the external charger does seem to extend the charge cycle a bit..but thats nothing new.

That big drop off at the end always happens to me when I upload a big video to dropbox or I sync my T-backup to dropbox.
I don't have Wifi at home.
I have seen it mentioned in here a couple times now about "letting the battery die completely" don't you all realize how HORRIBLE that is for the life of a Li-on battery?! these batteries were DESIGNED to last longer and stay "healthier" when you plug in when it gets down low on charge (say 15-5% with 5% pushing it cuz its gonna shut off real soon) tho I do understand it's difficult to gauge when to plug in using a 1800mah(aka Bh6x battery) due to inaccurate readings by the system (it's best to use a widget that will show in real time the voltage left and when it gets low throw it in charger).
ALL these battery "calibration" apps& techniques have been lieing, they almost all day to drain battery completely when that's just a bad idea (not to mention "calibration" isn't actually necessary IMO anyways)
sorry, didn't mean to get off topic...

I see those "empty spaces" sometimes as well, usually happens if I have rebooted, pulled battery, gone into BSR , time got screwed up somehow (I set time manually most of time cuz i found using automatic setting seems to make my phone wake up for no apparent reason..if I need to reset time I just check the automatic box for a minute and the time/date goes to what it should be then I uncheck it)
but I haven't exactly pinned down what causes those lines, if I figure it out I'll let ya know

My phone has 50% battery left. I plug the cable into my laptop to charge over USB. Then I play some games at the same time. The battery level comes up slowly.
So is it good to do that? Or we should do one at a time: charge or use phone.
I have always done it that way and ive had android ever since it first came out. Nothing should go wrong, at least not for me.

Yeah this is a good question I have always wondered about it... Won't it affect the battery like long term?
Wont harm anything
it doesn't matter if affects to the battery or not, you will trade your phone for another new one before the battery gets damaged
The only issue is that the phone will heat up like crazy so...
If you're overclocked or it's a very hot day, please avoid doing this, otherwise you may damage your phone.

Using while charging overheats the battery and the mobile itself.
Heat is the biggest enemy of batteries (wrt. longetivity), so yes it does reduce battery life. Having said that, most of us upgrade phones in less than 2 years, so it wouldn't be as much of a problem.
But overheating is not good for rest of the phone hardware.

I really doubt that. If the phone or battery were overheating, you wouldn't be able to touch it.
Maybe it reduces battery life, but that can't be much, since the battery gets hot whether it's being charged or not.

Using it while charging is fine. Mine charges at about 30-35*C, gaming on top its up to max 41/42. Thats well within limits and its going to have negligible effects on the battery pack.

It's either a bad battery or you have too much crap running in the background.
Sigh....wouldn't common sense tell you that your battery is bad or there is a app wakelocking the device? A quick search would show that 4-6hrs of screen on time is nomal for this device depending on the setup.
I get 5-7 hrs screentime on AOSP and TW. Search the forum

There is nothing I could possibly do to make my battery go down in 1.5 hours, you've clearly got something wrong. Most likely possibility would be a bad battery. Also, make sure your charger is securly plugged into the wall or power strip, i've seen people, and it's happened to me too, have their chargers not seated all the way into the outlet and that CAN cause a "false charge", meaning your phone will say fully charged but it won't last long.

If you are in a low or no signal area your battery will drain about 10% an hour trying to sync. Turn off data in these areas.
My place of employment has zero service from Verizon. When I'm at home I only use wifi as soon as I leave for work I turn off both wifi and data. Phone calls and texts only and after 11 and a half hours my phone has only used 25percent of its battery. Not like it really matters to me because I always put my phone on charge right before I go to bed.

Not sure about OPs issue - but my Note2 will easily last 2 days with my level of usage. YMMV based on your usage pattern. But I have used several phones in the past and none of my smart phones lasted more than 24hrs.
