I'm posting here because I have fewer than 10 post so I can't in the dev forum. Is anyone else experiencing really slow 4g since the latest cm7 update?(rc1.2) I just installed it and I'm barely getting 1mbps now, although my upload speeds are just fine. Any ideas?

It works now, thanks for the reply. I downgraded to mr2, wiped both caches and reinstalled mr2.5. Back up between 7 and 13. Still not as fast as when I had my froyo radio, but ill take it.

I saw the same issue on CM7 RC1.1 when I was on that I saw 1Mbps but when I switched back to BAMF 1.8.6 I was getting 22Mbps. All on MR2
I was just on vacation in Denver over the weekend and it was my first chance to try LTE.
I was sorely disappointed to show 3G-esque speed on every test with MR2.5+RC1.
At any rate I'm back home in the middle of nowhere so I'm not too worried
good thing you had less than 10 posts because this doesn't go in the development forum. at all. ever.
i had really slow 4G speeds on MR2.5 (4mbps) but on MR2 i got that ridiculous speed test you see in my signature. MR2 fixed my problems.
So I check for updates. It finds the update. I press ok to download it, and it hangs for 30+ seconds, then says "SERVER UNAVAILABLE" is anyone else getting this message? I'm running stock, though its pre Mr1. I returned to stock today but never got the Mr1 OTA. Any insight?

Funny, I click on it and it searched for about 10 seconds and then it just goes away. Doesn't say anything. It used to come back with a message saying I was up to date. Now nothing

do you need to root to run the official update???
I would think just putting it onto your sd card and rebooting into the bootscreen would do it considering its a signed official ROM.
Same here, i was trying since last night to get the update but everytime it says its searching for it and then it disappears
The servers are overwhelmed right now like they were at 7:30 last night.

Install LTE OnOff from Market. Change to CDMA only. Then when you check for update will find it. Had to do this last night but takes almost 2 hours to download on 1X but installed OK but takes some time. Hung on one screen for few minutes but finally rebooted.

Thanks for the tip. That actually got it to work for me. Before that I'd get the "Service Unavailable" problem. I've been trying to get this update since yesterday afternoon!

Yes this is what I had to do. Had to do this to get the MR1 update also a few months ago.
To further add to the LTE OnOff trick, once it starts downloading if you switch back to LTE it'll download much, much quicker.
i have been downloading the ota update for htc one x 4.2.2 update for a long time now. i am using 3g and its really fast. but when trying to download the update , its takes an hour to cross 10mb .

No cap that I can tell.............I get decent d/l speeds. Why would they cap WiFi at a lower speed than the network provides on 3G?
Ive had no such problems. Dloaded many apps with succes and fast

Idk I asked earlier about my wifi on a brand new atrix being really slow. At first downloads thru the internet and market on wifi was going 250kbs But now downloads thru a browsers is fast but not the market. Someone on here said att caps the market downloads at 250 I guess my wifi on this new phone is messed up but downloads thru a browser works great now.
I dunno, this is interesting..
It may be my imagination, but I swear since getting this phone market downloads are slow. At least compared to past Android phones.
Probably my imagination, I'm too lazy to do a side by side test. :0
NOPE! This is NOT your imagination!
I had the Atrix back in February for about a month. I tried 4 Atrix units in a row, and they ALL had this issue.
Is there seriously no fix for this yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974999
There's the thread I made back in March, before I gave up and returned the phone completely (had to eat a $35 restocking fee btw).
Isn't the 2.3.4 OTA update supposed to go live today? Did that happen yet? I wonder if that would fix the problem?
Never experienced this problem with my Atrix. I get 25Mbps at home, and I get 2MB/s downloads on the Market. That's since start of March.
Pay your internet bills people!
Pay your internet bills??? What are you talking about?
It was an issue I had with 4 Atrix units in a row. Every one of them had throttled speeds on the Market. It was definitely the phone, since my Captivate on the same wifi connection had no such issues.
And the weird thing is, it was ONLY a market problem; all speed tests showed that I was getting around 25 mbps. But downloading apps from the market? NOPE

I never got capped speed on wifi. I have a oc1 line coming into house and I get 5 to 10 m down on market. Downloaded a bunch of games to test this. No cap for me I am on the 2.3.4 kennethpenns build.

So what can I do if I have this problem? What can I even attempt? Just keep exchanging until I find an Atrix without the problem?
this is a known issue that was discussed here when the atrix was first release. this problem was fixed after flashing gingerbread.
Is the official 2.3.4 update out for the phone? If it is, does that fix the problem?

Why don't you spend just one minute reading the forums!!!
i had the issue to, but gingerbread fixed everything. on froyo i was getting max 250kb/sec on my 18mb line. the ONLY downloads affected where market downloads... anything through the browser/etc would be fine.

Oh wow. I might try the Atrix out again, then. Thanks.
I tried stock, and there were tons of dropped calls. Then I tried 0808 (the latest radio) and people kept asking me to repeat myself! very annoying. No dropped calls though.
I am now about to try the prerelease (0513) which I have heard good things about.
Anyway, is there a consensus as to which works best overall?

I personally love .0518 that one has been the best for me data speed and signal wise. But it really is a person to person phone to phone thing.

Under software information in About Phone.
It can be found in a sticky in the Android Development section if you are looking for the actual .img's
513 effin' slaughters all other radios data speeds, has the same apparent signal strength as stock (all others are worse for me) but I think it chews through my battery. I have tested this thoroughly...YMMV of course.
513, I would never use anything else.
EDIT: tested this VERY thoroughly, repeatedly...

who has a link to the new radio
What I am wondering (rather than data speeds) is which results in better audio/call quality?
I tried 513 today too, and people seemed to hear me better, but the audio still is not stellar...(!)
Here are the radios:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193101
P.S. I am in LA, and I have been getting the most heinous 3G speeds ever with the 3D. Ping tonight was around 800-900 ms and download speeds around 80kbps!
I tested it probably 15 times using 3 different radios.
Just switched to my Photon, and the ping is 166 ms, an download is 1306 kbps. I had called Sprint tonight and they told me it was a network issue, but it appears it is not.
A poll would probably help this thread
I agree just switched to 513 and it definitely feels way quicker!
This ain't Lucky Lager!
I'm using stock radio and sometimes I hear an "echo" of my own voice while talking on the phone. Kind of weird.
I'd like to know why they have dudes writing progressively worse radio software for these phones?!? If they are not willing to test it, then why write new versions as all?
(I do not believe the argument that every handset is different and therefore there is no way to properly test it. I have right here a Photon with STELLAR radio hardware and stellar radio software. Motorola puts out an update and there is a consensus that it actually IMPROVES the phone. Imagine that.

At work on phone so ill give the quick and dirty version:
Flashed each radio
did 5 speed tests (all on same server, known reliable)
averaged for each radio.
Same for signal strength.
Did this on multiple towers in my area (and one 50 or so miles away).
The results were surprisingly consistent aside from the coverage... But that had more to do with my own location than anything. This is only for the 3g radio. 4G testing is pointless around here. The battery life guestimation is just that.

Okay, I sold the 3d and am now using the Photon. Call quality is much improved.
Thanks for the help everyone.
Hey guys,
I've been working all night to try and fix an issue I had with Cyanogen Mod. I couldn't get the GPS to work with the radio I had. So I tried flashing MR3 and I still had no GPS but had 3G / 4G / WiFi connectivity. Going back to MR2 restored GPS but I couldn't maintain data and only had 1X / WiFi.
I've messed with countless radio updates and ROMs trying to get this running again. Going to post my phone's stats:
ROM Current: BAMF Forever 1.0.5
Android Version: 2.3.4
HTC Sense Version: 3.0
Software Number: 2.11.605.0
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-ge8d3693 [email protected]
Baseband version: 1.39.00.0627r, 0.01.69.0625r
I need you guys to link me to a ROM, the more light weight the better, that has 3G / 4G, GPS, and WiFi (with tethering). That's all I require =)
If I need a specific radio, a link to that would be great. Thanks a lot.
It's not the ROM...
VZW's LTE is spotty in and out in some areas. I noticed mine first thing this morning...
There are other threads on other forums about it.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/21/psa-verizon-users-reporting-data-outages-across-the-us/
I laugh at how they state that 3G is working fine, while LTE isnt.
I can hardly even get 1x again.
Word is if you make a phone call you can get 3g back afterwards. Worked on the wife's bolt. Worth a shot at least

I have 3G just fine here. I don't get 4G service at this location so I force it to "CDMA Auto (PRL)" anyway.

I think you're right unfortunately. I wait 3 months to try and fix my GPS and the one night I try it, Verizon's entire data network is taking a crap.
I just assumed that the 1X was a radio issue. I now have 4G connectivity but it's definitely slower than it should be. About 1.4Mbps. My buddy right next to me clocked 10.4Mbps on his brand new Nexus...
I'd still love to get a recommendation on a ROM and Radio version to run. I hate this BAMF ROM.
Different ROMs and different radios will have minimal impact on 4g speeds, if that's your reason for wanting something different.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
LTE came back up in SE Michigan about 2 hours or so ago.
Upon reading the OP's next post, I tested my speed via the SpeakEasy Website's speed test, as I always do.
I don't know whether to **** or go blind, but inside my office just now I hit 22MB down and 4.5 up with 2 bars (out of 4)...I've never gotten more than 12 inside the office down...
Could be that no one is on it...could be a fluke, etc.
BAMF makes quality ROMs. I would bet it's not the ROM or the radio.
I've been using the latest radio leak found here in the developer thread.
I'm sure you already know this...but it's flashed in Bootloader, not recovery.
I'm almost 100% certain it's not the ROM...unless you got a bad download or something.
That being said...you are a few releases behind on their ROM. They are up to 1.10 Final now.
Good thing is there are a ton out there, it's what's best for you...not necessarily what we think.

You're right. My problem is there's too many and I'm tired of looking haha. I just wanted to flash a known good ROM and radio and get this over with. Tired of tampering with my phone.
New update:
I just flashed MIUI from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172235
and the MR3 radio from:
http://www.thunderboltforums.com/fo...151-rs-approved-guide-thunderbolt-radios.html
It's clear from the screenshot provided on the MIUI thread that the dev is using the MR3 radio which is why I chose to flash that.
But now my GPS doesn't work? Holy crap this is getting so annoying. Either my GPS works or my 4G works, I can't have both -_-
I'm trying to get my post count up without spamming the boards so I can post in the development section ;x
EDIT: Just found this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20312888&postcount=1141
Anyone know if it's true?
Are you sure your data/gps is not a phone issue?
Believe it or not I know a few people that replaced their battery door and data/gps was fixed. Antennas are on the door...
In regards to your question about that link, it may work but remember some solutions work for some and not for others. Only real way to know is to try it...
